[Q] New Zealand Wildfire S - HTC Wildfire S

Hi all and greetings from New Zealand....
I have a Telecom NZ Wildfire S (A510b) and really want to get rid of the HTC Sense to give more space (and more features).
I have previously rooted & modded my Huawei 8150 (CM7 2.3.5), and thought it would be an easy process on the Wildfire, but I find it aint so.
The only way I've managed to get to the bootloader is via HTC SuperTool V2 as the usual Vol- and PWR don't work on this phone. Are there any other ways to bootloader?
I've looked thru HTCDev and seen the new process including downloading the RUU, however my phone does not show there so was hesitant to try that method.
Anyone got any suggestions as to how to proceed from here for my WFS?
Cheers,
Aaron

You need to power off then remove battery
Then replace battery
Press volume down and power
Then you should be where you need to be mate.
Alternatively in your settings I think its under power in sense Roms, turn off fast boot and repeat steps above.
Only difference being you don't need to remove battery.

Thanks, I'll try that today, it's off to work now.. selling.. funnily enuff, Wildfire S's amongst other stuff.

This how to do it mate, worked for me! Hope it works for you
Ok so I brought the phone from Telecom, it says its a A510b, model number PG76120 (found behind the battery, just below the SIM card slot)
So what I have done to achieve this result:
1: Simply sign up to the HTCdev website www.htcdev.com/bootloader/ once done, select the HTC Wildfire S from the drop list to begin
2: After accepting all the terms and agreements bla bla their is a list of ROMS, their was only 3 options for the model that I have PG76120, so I downloaded the HTC Thailand RUU
3: Ok so if you end up running the RUU it will tell you that the ROM is out of date with an error message, what I found out (this took me all day...) when you first open the RUU (this is if you run Windows) their will be a Temp folder made with all the files that the RUU needs to run, if you search the Temp Folder (usually found under the user folder in Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Temp) these files will only exist if you leave the RUU Program open, so just open it up and move the window to the side, search under the Temp folder for rom
4: You will find 2 zip folders named rom_01 and rom_02, copy these 2 zips to your desktop
5: Now change the name of rom_01 (im not 100% sure if its 01 or 02 that you need to do first, I cant remember) to PG76IMG and copy it over to a microSD, insert into your phone and boot into HBoot, it will go through the normal process of detecting and then opening the zip and will ask you if you wish to update the radio to v2 (it should only ask to update the radio, because you need to do it first before you use the second file which asks to update both the radio and hboot) allow to do so and it will do its thing and when completed ask to reboot.
6: Now change the name of the second rom (if I have the order right this should be rom_02) to PG76IMG, remove the first file you put on the microSD and replace it with second, back into HBoot, it will read the file and ask you to update HBoot and Radio, allow it to do so and it will update the HBoot, should say OK next to HBoot, once completed it will ask to be rebooted
7: To check that this has all happended correctly, go back into HBoot (remove your microSD before this) and you should have a pink box up the top stating *LOCKED* if you see this and your HBoot version is now 1.08.0099 (if you used the RUU that I did) you are now ready to go through the HTCdev Bootunlock process
8: Do the HTCdev Bootunlock process, it is straight forward and easy to do!
9: Forget needing to use the XTC and starting modding you HTC Wildfire S!!!

Dude!!!! worked for me - so stoked, thanks heaps!!!

Yeeeeeaaah!
Awesome stepthru, worked a treat... just gotta get me a ROM now, thanks man!

Stoked I could help another kiwi im looking through ROMS atm... I have no idea which to go for! CyanogenMod seems to be a beta, has no marketplace...

Update
OK, so I thought I'd do an update as to where I'm at with this:
Unlocked using the process above, one bit of advice I'd throw in is to leave the SD card OUT while doing the HTC unlock bit.. took me a couple of goes to get past that bit!
So now I have a WFS that has hboot unlocked, and now rooted via HTC Supertool thingy...
Have downloaded Clockwork Rom Manager, but theWFS is not listed in the options there so appears to not be working correctly as not able to flash to WFS set up.
Looking for alternate ways to flash a ROM to the WFS, if you know how to do it and know of a good ROM, please let me know!
Cheers

It will root and install CWM for you, its awesome
In the way of a ROM, I have installed CM7 but don't really like the feel of it, its like being back on Froyo...

Update 2
OK, si I used the link above to get CWM on the WFS, worked, got quite worried about 90 mins later when WFS was still bootlooping or something, but then it woke up and hey presto CM7 running 2.3.7.
It does look/feel like Froyo but it's ok and I get more space on phone.
Camera flash locks up still, few other small things. have overclocked to min 480, max 787 ondemand, seems stable enuff for now. I'll keep an eye on battery life tho.
BUT I DO want market...
When I use ROM manager, I'm getting a messasge saying I need to Flash CWM Recovery and to install it, but keep getting message that I need stable internet connection etc. have tried on wifi & 3G.. bit nothing... any suggestions?
Might use the batch file to flash again and try another build later....

[Q] Desire keeps crashing, Rollback to stock condition.

Hi,
I have tried several ROMs on my desire but none of them is working perfectly.
The only rom that somehow makes it possible to work is dj-droid
Leedroid and Chinese rom kept on crashing
The phone keeps crashing if I use it to much. (run a demanding app like waze or o game)
It even crashed when I use the internet for too long.
All of this made me come to a conclusion that there is something wrong with the hardware (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
Now I want to get my phone to his stock condition.
I know that I need to download something called a RUU file.
I found this thread, but I can’t figure which ROM should I D\L.
I suppose it should be something marked as WWE and the numbers are the radio version.
From what I can see my radio version is 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 (found in setting-> about phone -> Software information Baseband version) is it really the radio or I’m looking at the wrong place?
Can I use any RUU file is there a specific RUU should I D\L because in the thread I found the highs radio version is 32.30.00. If I need a specific ROM can some please point to the right direction.
Also I’ll be happy is some will explain to me what are the steps to install the RUU file, or is it same thing as installing a custom ROM ?
Please feel free to throw any other suggestions that might help to set my desire to it’s proper condition.
Thank in advance
Mark
P.S
I had froyo 2.2 and my HBOOT is 0.93.001
In order to return to stock, just connect the phone to the pc and run the RUU (it's just an exe file). The latest OFFICIAL European rom is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828519
That will upgrade HBOOT and Radio, you really need that. In case you'll need to get root access, just download unrevoked (google it), but remember to uninstall HTC Sync in case you have it installed before running it.
After rooting, just reflash the rom of your choice and keep the new radio, just don't change it, it's superb.
Hint: before flashing any rom on top of each other, remember to wipe cache, dalvik cache, and user data, so you won't get any crash.
To restore data I suggest MyBackup Pro, gives less issues than Titanium Backup.
You need a gold card to flash anything other than the one that originally came with the phone. Radio is irrelevent

Radio is responsible of many crashes: an old radio not compatible with the camera app gives FCs.
Why would he need a goldcard if he already rooted?? To go back to stock just enter in the bootloader, select fastboot, connect via usb, start the RUU and you're done.
Thanks,
I'll try the attched RUU and update with the result.
BTW
is the there posibility i'll brik my phone during this procedure ?
Oh and i anderstand that i need a goldcard only if my phone is/was branded.
Ok, I managed to restore the phone but after the installation it entered to a boot loop.
I let the phone rest for 2 or 3 minutes and it started up perfectly.
I suspect that if I'll stress my it's get too hot and crushes.
Any suggestion how can I confirm this theory ?
How did you get it out that boot loop? Resting? Did you take out the battery or smth?
Yes,
I had to to that several time before the phone started to work.

If the OP has a branded phone and wants to flash a stock unbranded RUU you need a gold card. Radio is irrelevent in the flashing of an RUU as you get the correct radio for the ROM included in it
I am just asking because I am trying to flash the Rooted , A2SD+ version of this ROM and after flash it just keeps looping (when the little green android logo appears and the phone vibrates) and does that on and on and on. Maybe I have to wait more.
Which ROM have you come from? IF it wasn't a Sense-based ROM you'll have to do a full wipe before booting

I came from exactly this one (latest OTA). It was rooted and as clockwork recovery did not work , I flashed Amonra. I did a full wipe, I formatted the SD card and then partitioned it, I did everything from scrap. I am almost certain I am missing astep or smth. Phone shows S-ON, maybe amonra doesnt get read of Security...?? I am not very good at this stuff, but any other ROM I flash works, except for the latest OTA (rooted and with A2SD- there is a post here on the forum containing it).
OR you mean a full wipe AFTER flashing, and before the first boot??
Chapter 2 – Return of the Desire
Hi again
First of all I want to thank you all for your assistance I had no problem to activate the warranty.
It seems that the constant reboot issue was a know issue of the A8181 series so my original phone was sent to HTC.
Finely I got the phone back and according to what I've been told it's a new device.
When I tried to use the phone I noticed that the APN settings were not transformed from the SIM card to the phone
(did not had that problem before I shipped the phone).
I tried to ran the RUU I used before and It seemed like I'm also going to gain an upgrade from 2.10.405.2 to 2.29.405.2 .
With a heart full of joy I'm pressing the next button and when the status bar reaches the "updating signature" I get the " Error [131] customer ID" error.
Noting I do seems to help fixing the problem.
I managed to root the phone, I flashed the LeeDroid rom, but i still can't run the RUU.
Any suggestions how do I fix the problem ?
I don't think my phone is branded as I bought an online store and from my provider.
Thanks in advance

RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.
Also i see notification on that tells me that it is safe to remove my SD card.
Can you access your sdcard on your phone?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
nope,
can't access it at all
I think that's your problem then.
Have tried removing it, cleaning the contacts etc?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
I think i messed the card in the proccess of making it a GC
The phone keeps telling me that it's sage to remove it
I dont have this problem when i insert my ap2sd card
try reformatting / remaking your goldcard.

[Q] RUU restore for warranty fails: error 140. Anyone can help?

Hi guys,
I own a Fastweb branded desire and back key isn't working anymore.
So I'm tring to restore the branded official rom for warranty.
I got s-off and root and my gold card is in.
I've flashed the old modaco r6 rom to avoid main version is older and flashed downgrade hboot(alpharev) too.
When I start the ruu hboot 0.75 and old radio are flashed properly, but I still have custom splash and cwm recovery also system is untouched.
Ruu stops with error 140 bootloader problem.
I'm still able to flash custom roms and I can s-off again, but I really don't know what to do.
Any help?
Thanks.
Best regards.

Sorry mate, is there a way to change section?
jussy,
I had exactly the same problem so I'll answer even tho this is the wrong thread. You have to start first by extracting the zip file from the RUU. Run the RUU until it gets to the first screen then leave it there (don't close it).
Go to Start -> Run and type %temp%.
Find the temporary folder folder that's just been created (sort based on date) and find a file called 'rom.zip'. Copy this file into another location and close the RUU.

Thanks for replay.
I've extracted rom.zip and renamed to PB99IMG.zip. tried to flash it in fastboot.
Flash process start but stops before finishing leave me in the same situation as before. If I want to flash it again gives me main version is older.
I've s-off it 10 times today and made many try.
EDIT: I've also tried to flash via fastboot commander the .img files in rom.zip but after that I could only access fastboot.
Now I've flash a generic ruu to make it boot.
Tbh mate I'm not sure how to change it lol.. mayb delete and repost in q&a..
Just beware of flames coming your way lol

Dude, don't flash the zip, just put it in the root of your SD, then switch phone off, hold vol down button and reboot into recovery, your phone will recognize the pb99img.zip and some options should come up. Follow the on screen instructions and you should be unrooted in 15 mins max.

Sorry for my bad english but what you said is what I've done.
1-root and s-off.
2-flash downgrade hboot(alpharev).
3-put PB99IMG.zip (extract as said from my branded ruu) on sd card root.
4-boot power + vol down.
5-It starts, step 1 goes well then at the end of step 2 screen became black and came back with 0.75 hboot s-on and if I try again it gives me main version is older.
So I can only reboot, reflash a rom and s-off it again.
Never ending loop...
Thanks anyway.
You are using wrong RUU.use the RUU with 5.11.05.27 , I am on mobile so can't give you the exect link.I will post it tomorrow for you, if you can't find.
And it is better to create a goldcard if you havent yet

I've got my gold card already in.
Sadly there's only one ruu for my carrier.
I can flash a generic froyo ruu but it's not good for warranty.
I can't really help in terms of your issue.
If I remember right, I booted into the bootloader and switched on fastboot, then ran the RUU EXE making sure my phone was connected to my pc.
It eventually came right.
Saying that, after I got the stock ROM back on, my phone went ape (and to this day I have no idea why). Random restarts. Freezing. It was crazy. I had to upgrade the RUU for it to stay on properly. Was really weird.
There are so many threads about rooting for warrantee purposes, perhaps search them or go through thier instructions, cause I'm sure someone may have had the same issue.
Wish I could help you though.

Sorry guys I got an other problem...
Now this is the second time I bring it to assistence (last time was for vol down) and when they give it back to me it was updated to froyo.
I'm facing problem with 1.15=>1.21 OTA, installation is aborted due to status 7 (if some one can help I'll post the full error message).
Unfortunetly the ruu I've used is the only one from my carrier.
Will they know that my phone was updated by them and I'll lose my warranty?
Any idea about fixing status 7?
Many thanks.

Stuck on safety screen following RUU flash plaus other issues

Hi. Firstly yes I have read, thread after thread after thread and I am now the owner of a useless phone.
Rom RUU_Buzz_TMO_UK_1.14.110.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.19_release_130442_signed
Kernal no clue right now
Radio 3.35.15.19
Hboot 6.01.1002
s- off
Tweaks / coustomizations you installed. none now
Memory card partitions info. it is partitioned but I cant remember now what size.
Brief history.
I was running latest CM7 but could not get GPS at all. I tried to flash various radio updates and got nowhere. In fact I only successfully flashed one and then I lost all my contacts and the damn phone decided not to sync with gmail so I thought sod it I will go back to stock and ran RUU_Buzz_TMO_UK_1.14.110.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.19_release_130442_signed exe.
Now I am stuck on the safety screen and bootloader is saying there is no backup etc.
Now. I have read through various threads, tried various things but I cant get teh damn thing to work.
Please dont say I should read this thread etc because I can assure you I have just been through 4 hours worth of them today and christ knows how many on this and other sites over the past month trying to get this bloody phone to work properly.
Can anyone give me some clear instructions where I can find out what my exact modle is, as I am beginning to think the processor etc in this phone is different to the ave Wildfire.
I dont care if its branded, stock, modded. I need it to txt, phone, www and GPS. Right no I just got the safety bar and no way of accessing the menus.
Chers. Chris
Im guessing I need to drop a rom in the SD card and recover that image.
But what ROM Ive downloaded every single one I can find. When I run recovery, there is a picture of a phone with a caution sign on it.
Step 1 - Recovery fix
Hi there!
The problem is that you don't have the correct recovery installed or this has been corrupted. Now, before we get started I just need to ask one question, as stupid as it may seem, I just need to make sure.
Do you own a HTC Wildfire (i.e. Buzz) or a HTC Wildfire S?
If it's the S one DO NOT try this fix! It may be that you have been trying to install the wrong soft on your phone an that's why it's not working. Instead, go to the HTC Wildfire S section of the forum.
However, if it's the regular HTC Wildfire (i.e. Buzz) you can proceed.
I've put together a little fix for you, just follow the steps below:
0. Download attached file and extract it somewhere easy to access.
1. Start phone in bootloader. ( volume down + power button)
2. Wait for phone to settle. (detects SD card, etc.)
3. Using volume buttons go to FASTBOOT and then select it by pressing the power button.
4. Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable.
6. Browse to the folder where you extracted the attachement and run as administrator the file flashrecovery.bat (right-click and select 'Run as administrator')
7. Follow the steps on screen.
8. All done! Now you should be able to go into RECOVERY to install a custom ROM.
OK I finally flashed a RUU that is working. Its from Japan with English option. But I have a working phone. It just wont access the market or any email and thinks im asian.
Has anyone got a working stock rom for a UK buzz please.

I was just about to write step 2 of the fix I gave above.
However, if you just want a HTC stock ROM just install the one below:
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
---------- Post added at 06:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:50 PM ----------
Since your phone is S-OFF with the Revolutionary HBOOT, the HTC stock ROM won't be able to overwrite the HBOOT which is a good thing.
However, it WILL overwrite the recovery so if you want to install the recovery at a later date you will have to go through the Step 1 listeb above.

Hi yes its a Wildfire (buzz). something odd about it as I flashed 5 RUU's and none of them worked and now im up and running on a Korean language with English option.
Just stick onto that Korean ROM and then run the one in my previous link. That is the HTC Stock World Wide ROM - it should work on ANY HTC Wildfire (Buzz).

Cheers. I am not a lover of the stock HTC rom, but I need the GPS to work and CM7 just doesnt and I have no intention of becoming a wizzkid at tweaking phones just to get them to do what they should, which it seems CM7 will make me.
At least I got teh phone to work without help which I am chuffed about. But I cannot even connect to market contacts or facefarce with this present one.

What I meant is that now that you have a ROM installed you don't need to go through the steps that I was planning to explain.
Instead, if you want to get the stock HTC ROM all you have to do is to run the RUU that I mentioned in one of my previous posts.
RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
As I was also saying, this ROM is definitely going to work fine on your phone.

If you really want ROOT, that's easy enough to do now that you have the ROM I recommended. There's 2 ways depending on the HBOOT that you now have now your Wildfire. The stock ROM may have overwritten the Revolutionary HBOOT so you first need to check that:
1. Start you phone in boot mode (volume down + power) and see what the version number is.
2. If it's Hboot 1.01.0001 then you have HTC stock HBOOT so now you also have to look at the very first line to see if it's S-OFF or S-ON.
3. Otherwise, if it's Hboot 6.01.1002 (or anything that starts with 6) then you're still on Revolutionary HBOOT.
Now, based on the findings of the above, chose the option that suits you:
Option 1: for Revolutionary HBOOT 6.01.1002
1. Simply follow the steps in my very first post in this thread to restore your recovery. (this will have been overwritten by the stock RUU).
2. Copy the Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip (see attached) file to your SD card, boot into recovery and install the zip. Now, you'll have root.
3. [Optional - only needed for some apps to run in root] Go to the Market and download BusyBox then install it in both locations, i.e. system/bin and then system/xbin.
4. That's it! You're all rooted now!
Option 2: for HTC stock HBOOT 1.01.1001 with S-ON
1. Go through the Revolutionary process again and at the end it will ask you if you want to install a recovery. Make sure that you DO!
Now follow steps 2 - 4 from Option 1 above.
Option 3: for HTC stock HBOOT 1.01.1001 with S-OFF
Well, this is very unlikely to happen but if it does you can either:
1. Try to use Unrevoked and then you may need to do step 3 from Option 1.
2. Or simply go straight to steps 2 - 4 from Option 1 above.
THAT'S IT! Now you should have root again!

[HOW-TO] UNBRICK HTC t328w (DESIRE V) cable-free method using RUU!!!

PLEASE STICKY IF THIS IS HELPFUL!!!
ALSO ON THE HTC ONE V FORUM (since this phone is like a hybrid of that and this, the desire....and doesn't have it's own dedicated forum hahaha)
Hello Everyone, just yesterday I was messing with gapps on my HTC t328w (since it's a chinese phone, it didn't not come with gapps, so I had try to flash them myself) and I made some mistakes, which basically ended up soft-bricking my device (unable to update gapps since I had merged the entire system folders instead of just copying system/app), and it would not boot to the home screen.
After looking for a while I had found the RUU for this phone, however, the .exe just did not work for me, it wouldn't detect my phone (maybe incorrect drivers, but I can't be sure of that as my phone was rooted using the same computer)...
So after some thinking and working stuff out, I came up with method (well, at least for this phone, it has been done for other phones before), so I present you...
HOW TO UNBRICK THE HTC T328W DESIRE V (HTC WIND FROM CHINA UNICOM
What you need
-The phone, obviously (try to have battery above 30%)
-***RELOCKED*** bootloader
-The RUU found here (download the .exe) (Thank you island3r!)
-Micro SD card
Ok!~~~
Let us begin...
1.) Run the RUU exe file, and when it's done preparing, go to start > run, and type in %temp%, you should see the temp folder pop up...
2.) In the temp folder, look for the file with the longest name (that was my qualitative observation, needs clarification~!), and scroll down and find rom.zip
3.) Rename rom.zip to PL11IMG.zip, and transfer it to the root of your micro sd card (with the adapter in your computer, as you can't with your phone...since it's bricked...)
4.) Take the micro-sd card out of your computer, slide it in your phone, and boot into HBOOT (volume down + power button).
5.) When you are at the hboot screen, press the down button once, you should see the phone scan the SD card, it will say in about 5 - 10 seconds "PL11IMG.zip found....checking.....loading", there is a vertical progress bar on the top right side of the screen so you can be sure that it's not frozen or something...
6.) After it is done checking, it should bring up a menu to update and say press vol+ for YES and vol- for new, we need to flash this update/restoration so press the the volume up button...
7.) It will do something for about a minute, and go BACK to boot loader, repeat step 5 and 6 (this happened to me, I really don't know if this will happen to others...someone please test this?)
8.) Now that you have said YES to update the second time, wait about 10 minutes (you can watch the progress bar too), and it will say "update completed, press power to reboot"
9.) Reboot, and your phone is good as new!!!!* ^______^
*I mean it when I say that, it is literally good as new; it will wipe everything, and you need to activate your phone again and set up and all that stuff
I NEED TESTERS AND CONFIRMERS....HELP ME OUT WITH THIS METHOD PLEASE
Hope you found this helpful! Post if you have any comments, concerns, or any thing that should be added on (this is my first guide hahaha )
I cannot execute as above as i never get to step #6.
----------------
My T328W came with OS version 1.35.
Recently it got an OTS update to 1.56.
This happened while i was in process to unlock boot-loader, root the phone, and begin installation of gaps.
Now the phone seems to be in "NEVER NEVER land". I cant do much with it. WIFI and Bluetooth are not working.
I can readily lock and unlock the boot-loader.
The security is on. S-ON.
I want to go back to 1.35 (factory shipped version) but cannot as different errors come up when trying ton install RUU. I do have the original version RUU it shipped with.
There seems to be much confusion as to how install this orignal RUU. S-ON or should it be OFF. How do i turn it OFF.
BASICALLY
I want to get the phone completely back to shipped version. So then i can begin the root, and gaps installation.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Helpful guide
it works. Thank you.
how do you install Google Play in your chinese Version (China Unicom) T328W, build 1.35.1402.1?
This method would not work for device which have HBOOT 1.14.0002 and S-ON (device which have received 1.56.1402 release OTA update). Mind one got this and when I flash the zip, the phone say "HBOOT is older" cannot update.
I see someone in androidforum post that there is a method to flash only system, data and recovery (what he call mini-RUU) but I dont know whether it work or not if I fash 1.35.xxx rom to my newer HBOOT device.
If someone have experience could help me confirm it, I am sorry that I am hersitated to test myself cause I dont have any backup rom for my device, I am scare if it would soft-brick my device (it's currently have and missing feature rom - missing notification bar, but at lease it still work and allow my to whatsapp with my wife). Please help.

[Q] Help needed with Desire Z

Hello,
I tried to help out a friend with rooting a Desire Z. He used the guide on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912. He was still on stock and everything and the guide pointed to that to do first.
According to him everything went fine untill he got at point "I - 4a) Manual Downgrade". After reviewing the files he had used it seemed to me that he had used the G2 version of PC10IMG.zip instead of the Desire Z version (could see it when inspecting how large the file was)
He told me that all other steps before (the temp rooting etc etc) was no problem. And after he rebooted his phone the install of PC10IMG started. After the first reboot however the phone stuck.
The situation now is a follows:
* phone does not boot. It gets stuck at the white screen with green HTC letters/logo and then does nothing
- S-ON
- Phone does boot into Hboot (version HBOOT-0.82.0000)
- RADIO-26.02.01.15_m2
- eMMC-boot
I can get into Fastboot and can send commands thru adb to the phone. However commands that try to flash result in a FAILED blabla signature. Probably since its S-ON status
SDcard is recognized (finally) and I managed to make it accept a stock rom. Many other .zips fail. System says no image or wrong image when searching for them.
I suspect the phone has a wrong bootloader (?) and will only accept G2 roms (wich would not be right since its a Desire Z (?)).
Things I tried so far:
* flash a stockrom: It did do something (saw the blue "loading" bar in the bootloader). After it's done it verifies and returns to the bootloader. The I reboot but it still hangs at white screen with green letters HTC/logo
* tried to flash other roms by putting then on the SD. Gives message no image or wrong image
* tried with adb with fastboot. Nothing is accepted.
Is this phone beyond DIY repairs? Advice or tips would be greatly appreciated (since this crap costed me already a full saturday and sunday)
Many thanks in advance!
(PS: I should have the basic knowledge about rooting, adb and such. Also I rooted my own desire Z succesfully already)

Thanks a lot for your reply!
I tried what you suggested 3 times and this is the outcome:
The program starts up fine. Checks the phone with no errors. After a few install screens the phone reboots into a black screen with silver letters HTC (same as seen with adb/fastboot I think?). It starts wiping userdata. Then it says "busy sending"; goes all fine.
The it gets to the point sending "signature" (not sure if I translate correct. I have a dutch version or at least the install was in dutch).
And after a while I get:
ERRORCODE: 130 (model-ID error)
Get right updateapplication and retry
during install it said I had image version 1.00.000.0 and asked if want to update to 2.16.531.6
Anymore advice or sugestions I could try?
Thanks in advance for your answer!
[EDIT]
Seems I can go into some kind of recovery mode (choosing recovery from menu >> gives black screen with greenish icon >> gives red triangle
at that screen I do volume + and power and it gives me a menu in wich I can choose update from SD. Not sure if that can help me in any way? Maybe there is some .zip I can install and reset everything back to factory or something?
Tried already to select something there but gives an error:
(in yellow line) E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
Sounds serious tome
Then you'll need the ruu for your model phone, got to HTC.com, find support, look for desire z, then find downloads, follow same steps as before

Tried quite a lot of RUU versions but everytime the same damn message:
ERRORCODE: 130 (model-ID error)
Get right updateapplication and retry
Tried to get unlocked bootloader with the tool from HTCdev but that gave me a message ERROR[191]: ROM not supported
Anything else I can try out? (going to try and see if I can get something of a rom thru a goldcard but my hopes dwindle by the minute
Thanks in advance for any help/advice
[EDIT]
After hours and hours of reading I can only think of 2 things myself:
1. somehow the emmc is defunct (broken or totally messed up beyond flashable)
2. it has a wrong radio version (= bricked beyond DIY repairs as far as I could read)
Therefor I descided to contact a company that can JTAG the phone and restore it to its glory. What is a reasonable price for such?
If anyone else has still some tips I'll keep watch of this thread
You can't use an older version of the software/firmware so you would need the latest from HTC, if the phone already has the latest installed then you would need a gold card to change the cid. Problem is, as far as I know, you need to at least a functioning adb access to make a gold card.
Being its hard to the version that you were running the state your phone is in, my guess you are at the latest ota, so if there was a ruu that came out for it that wasn't an ota then that will probably be the only one that works. Its a long shot, but you could call HTC (don't mention rooting just say you picked up the phone at it was like this) and ask for a link to the latest ruu so you can try and fix it, even if you're past warranty they should point you in the right direction

Thanks a lot for your advice Demkantor
According to my friend he checked for OTA updates a few days ago (was his motivation in the first place to unroot and flash a custom since he was pissed that his great device didnt get much love anymore from updates and after seeing my Desire working on a custom hehe)
I checked out the RUU versions and also read that they kinda only work if it essentially updates the device (checked the site http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Vision.
Tried a lot from there but only the WWE versions (CID of gsm was one of those numbers that indicated the gsm is unbranded)
For the sake of it I did make a goldcard and tried to use the extracted rom from an RUU. No luck. It sees it, sends it but fails at checking after that and returns to Hboot. Had a hope that the downgrade (step before perm root) was kinda succesful...
Gonna give it one last try with one of the none WWE versions with the lastest version number to see what it does.
I'll keep you posted!
PS: Damn I wished Gigabyte would make phones! I bet they'd put in some kind of recover rom in case the **** hits the fan hehe
