Hey guys, I'm looking to change the carrier name on my inc2 to my actual name from Verizon Wireless, and i was just wondering if anyone had tried this out yet- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960111
I don't want to be a guinea pig and have a whole bunch of crazy stuff happen to my droid if something goes wrong. (sorry if that sounded cocky)
Thanks.
It states its only for aosp so if you're not on sense, back up your Rom and then try it.. if it doesn't work all you do is go back into recovery and flash the backup

I'm considering flashing my EVO to cricket..its already rooted. But I have some questions....are there specific roms that have to be used with cricket? Example..I'm running mik3d right now...can I run a sense rom on cricket? I can easily figure out how to unlock and flash to cricket but i don't know about the rom thing. Any help is greatly appreciated

Not an expert in this matter but my best bet is, no. I don't think that you will need a - cricket - branded Rom, the configuration you'll so to force the phone to that network has nothing to do with the Rom itself, but some apps like the Sprint branded ones might not work.
Just my 2ct.

Also I'm not postive but you might have to edit some settings to get mms on some roms working

Don't do it man. The service is REAL spotty. I know sprints isn't much beetter a lot of the time, but its a major step down. If you d/l and surf a lot you'll hate it. I did it to my last one, and got a 3vo for the line, and low and behold I'm back w spritn service and my og evolution runnin decks 1.3/ Lee combo. I get 1550 quadrant scores overclocked, and 1450's at 998w smartass. My d/l speeds are high 4s w 1-3 uploads w wimax. I couldn't get close to half that w cricket. The quadrants comparable, but that doesn't affect your data. Its your choice bro, but I strongly suggest keeping sprint and waiting for lte service and devices. There's gonna be some sick ass phones coming out. Good luck either way.

Id like to stay with Sprint but i can't afford to keep them. Just had a baby and I'm def not having that much money coming in anymore. Just got canned from my job. The military won't let me back in. Just everyday life I guess.

Congrats on the baby bro. I have 2 myself. I just got back to work, so I know how ya feel. I'm around the Chicago area, and I actually got a couple places that are looking for some good people. Don't know where ya are, but I'd help pretty much anyone in here w whatever I could. This damn forum has become an addiction. I don't post much, but I read a lot. Well good luck bro. Best wishes and have fun w the baby. They're what make me complete. ...... and my decked out, undervolted Lee kernel running make you wanna kick yourself in the nuts cause its so sick evo. Lmao. Good luck w cricket. There's a whole section w a bunch of info for it if you search the general section.
I'm wanting to know how easy it if I wanted to go from vzw to say at&t or sprint. What all has to be done and what Roms are compatible with doing such. I'm using mikrunny v1.01 right now. Is that a good Rom to use if I wanted to switch carriers or is there a better one out there. I know roms are basically a trial and error kind of thing and it comes down to personal preference.

Killing kittens is bad. There is a STICKIED thread about this for GSM users...

Mikrunny isn't gsm compatible, and all ics roms as of now HAVE gsm but very buggy gsm at that. But yes please refer to the thread above it'll help you loads!
I am looking for a completely barebones version of ics for this phone. No touch, no sense, no rainbows, no flying unicorns, etc etc. I just want a base version with no bloat and no modifications. I would also like very specific instructions as to how to get it on to my phone because i am not technically savvy and my phone is my lifeline so bricking is the worst thing that can happen to me. If someone can point me to what i need then please delete this thread. i will answer any questions anyone has for me. thanks in advance.

grrrrrrrrrrrr.......hahaha
(WARNING! The following is my opinion only!)
If your phone is your lifeline, and you HAVE to have it be as solid as possible with no glitches whatsoever, you have no choice but to run either 100% unrooted stock, or something like Mr X's stock rooted ROM.
All other ICS builds are hacks (some very good ones, but hacks nonetheless).
ICS official will be released in the next couple of weeks for our phone and I would suggest be patient.
Or you can root and remove the bloat /carrier iq yourself.
which for me has been the most functional/stable.
Theres alot of very good roms here.
Not everyone has the same issues,so you just have to flash and see.
Going back to stock is a cinch.
The best I flashed was digital warfare.
I WISH raverx3x selfkang ICS is good to go,but alas...

Lol just checked...
Aosp ics is on the board in development.
Pure? No,but try it,it might be pretty good.

I am sorry if this has already been answered but I have searched and have not been able to answer my question. I am trying to update my girlfriends htc EVO with a stable cricket rom with decent battery life. The one she has now kills her battery in about 5 hours. The phone is rooted, and currently has a cricket rom installed. Thanks for any help.

Come on guys, nobody has suggestion for a rom. Or does anyone know where I can go and see if somebody else knows. Thanks again.

Cricket rom?
Yes, I need to find a cricket rom to use with the EVO. There have been some before I need to find a new one with decent battery life

You'd be better off finding a cricket rom then flashing a different kernel, experimenting with some build.prop tweaks, underclocking or undervolting with vipermod.
Yeah, if I knew how to do all that it would be cool but I don't. I think I just need to find another forum that has more experience with cricket stuff. Thanks to everyone though.

If you can flash a Rom, you can make the changes the previous poster suggested. At some point, you will need to go beyond just flashing and actually tweaking. Do yourself the favor and do some reading.

hey if your talking for the HTC EVO 4G, In my experience and opinion this would be myn 2.2 or nitrous rom these both are great roms for Cricket! as far as kernals a htc 17 or 18 or toastmod is fine..my phone is currently running.. nitrous v1.4.7 and im using nitrousv0.3-sbc kernal ..yeah i know SBC blah blah blah but i havent had any issues!
MikG.
I gave up development of my own rom Jiminy tuned for cricket about a year ago and have been using MikG since. It works great.
yeah I've had my evo OG 4 bout 3 months. Flashed it to cricket the day after I got it. I've used all the ICS ROMS and can vouche that they do work even on cricket. "Flashing" a ROM doesnt really effect the carrier settings that are "flashed" to the phone. But do make a nandroid backup and keep a sense ROM that has EPST on your SD card. You will know it has EPST on it if you dial ##3424# . You might need this later if you have to change any settings or bring your phone in to get reflashed or whatever.
I got a used Samsung Epic 4G Touch and would like to get it working on page plus. I think I understand how to flash, but I don't know which rom I should flash to. I an new to this.

I installed the CyanogenMod and it looks like it's still connected to sprint. Would any of those roms change my phone to page plus just from flashing it?

Sorry, but flashing a ROM won't change what carrier you're on. I'd ask moparfreak, I think he's flashed to Page Plus
Trolling from my Cricket-flashed Galaxy S2 E4GT using Tapatalk 2
No ROM u flash can change the carrier label except aokp roms....without going in and fixing it yourself messing with systemui.apk or is it framework-res.apk? I think its framework.... but on an aokp ROM u can change to a custom carrier label to whatever you want from the ROM settings, ROM control, custom carrier label. Truste my phone saying sprint aggrevatted the crap out of me too!

You can also find the proper eri.xml for your carrier to put in /data... Works for me on aosp ROMs (shows Cricket on lock screen and pull down notification).
The files I needed to get mms to work on cricket (including eri.xml) were found in the og Epic4g section but work for our device too. Maybe poke around in that forum for some more ideas? Might find some Page Plus stuff.
How this helps
[Edit]Keep in mind this has nothing to do with the actual flashing of your device to another carrier... It's just to display that specific carrier name, but isn't really necessary.

Any chance you might know where to find a guide to flash over to Page Plus? I have had an EVO 4g for a couple years and now with this Galaxy S2, I feel almost lost, and switching carriers is way beyond anything I've ever tried.
I feel perfectly comfortable making the changes that need to be made, but I'm not even sure where to start.
Thanks!
I'm really really tired tonight..... but I'll pm u a .zip file in my drop box to download and look and read and play with..... if u still have questions just talk me [email protected]
