it works but size isn't ideal.

I would steer away from these matte protectors as they generally degrade screen quality of high ppi screens.

there is pro and con to every screen protector. just have to pick your poison.

im using matte , worst desion ever , MATTE KILLS THE SUPERAMOLED screen
the i got was about 4 dollars is a perfect fit but i hate it , i hate it with passion feel like ripping it out by the one i bought should reach me anytime so ill be patient till then
i dont mind finger prings u can wipe them off but matte just makes ur screen look dull and awful.

Consider a Zagg screen cover. Idk if they make them for GN yet, but I had one for my incredible and loved it. It was a bit pricier, but screen showed through great, it was fingerprint resistant, and is guarenteed to be replaced if it punctures or what now. Its also a softer material so in my experience it didn't scratch at all.

Pre cut or full screen protector ?

I plan to buy a second hand Vibrant phone but it has screen protector that has a small horizonal oblong cut suited for the four capacitive android buttons which I find not visually pleasing to the overall four inch screen.
Should I buy a new full screen protector?
or it there a good reason why the four capacitive buttons should remain unprotected by a thin screen?
Please share your experience. Thanks
Mine is full screen and I've never had any issues.
I use full screen as well. It's probably easier to align and apply anyway.
As long as you get a quality screen protector youll be fine, some of the cheaper lower quality protectors lower the response of the capacitive screen. I recommend Reallook, though i have since stopped using screen protectors
honestly you dont need a screen protector as the phone has gorilla glass on it, I've had the phone for over a year and only have 2 little nicks that arent noticable

Thanks to all of you guys for your recommendations.
This may sound a stupid question but, if I use a full screen protector, wouldn't it cover the above front speaker?
The ones for the vibrant will have a cut hole for the speaker. Covers everything else.
And +1 on the Reallook brand.
Hands down I recommend Realook. Especially if you use Swype. I tried the Zagg screen and I was disappointed because it was really hyped up to me. Realook for sure from now on (plus they send you two!).
Depends what you do. I work in real dusty enviroments so going full works for me cuz sooner or later dust starts building up on the edges of the cutouts and it starts being noticable. I ended up just getting some cheap ebay ones and I had no sensitivity problems. I work hard for my money so I cant see myself paying $10+ for screen protectors...but then again thats just my cheap ass maybe.

...would of have no nicks at all if you would of used a screen protector. It will all depend what you do in life to see if your phone screen has a high chance of getting damaged. That's why screen protectors are for some people and not others.
I use a full screen Zagg shield and love it. Why you wouldn't want the capacative buttons covered I'm not sure.

Xtreme Guardz - 1$ Wet Apply Screen Protector

This is a wet apply screen protector from Xtreme Guards. They usually run about 10 bucks but on ebay and amazon you can find them for really cheap. In terms of protection I'd assume that it would protect the device pretty well since it's thicker than some of the other protectors I've tried (SGP, and a regular plastic one). It doesn't seem to have any orange peel either.
I just installed and so far so good. It just comes in the mail with a screen protector and a squeege so you would need to dip it in soapy water and apply. This obviously doesn't come with a warranty or anything but is really cheap so I wouldn't mind buying another one. In my opinion this is better than ghost armor (about the same quality for way less). I'd always run to a kiosk everytime I get a new phone and shell out around 40 bucks just to get it done. This is definitely a better alternative.

Just got the 3 I ordered when I saw this thread. These are pretty great. I like the wet protectors since they cover the whole screen and are easy to position right. There is no orange peel on these and they feel pretty good (little rubbery, but that's been the case with any wet protector I've used). These are better than the Phantom Skinz I was using, and they're only a dollar a pop.

Does it take awhile for three orange peel to show up? I just installed it earlier today and I don't see any even with a light shining on it with the screen off. Hopefully it stays like that, but I'm out 3 bucks off it doesn't.

Mine doesn't have any orange peel either. I got them yesterday and just installed. It looks pretty good has more protection than the SGP wet apply screen, but the SGP is less rubbery and this one is rubbery since I think it is thicker. It will definitely protect it against keys etc.
All in all a very solid buy. I'll post pics when I can get my hands on a camera.
All of them take some time for it to start to appear.

Keys unless pressure really really hard will never scratch a screen, glass is much stronger than most material that keys are made of.

Also here's a link for the full body protector, I'm not sure if its for CDMA or GSM though I'm going to order on so I guess I'll find out http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-Prime-FULL-BODY-Clear-LCD-Screen-Protector-Case-Shield-/230711537975?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item35b77ab137
Tried it on a GS2, screen feels very rubbery but thick.
I really do like the feeling of this sellers screen protectors, I've bought all of mine from him, including a $10 one for my transformer.
I've never tried his full guards because I always have a case on my device, but his front protectors have done me wonders.

Why screen protectors?

Almost all phones now days have screens made with some kind of scratch resistant glass (like Gorilla Glass) so why do people still insist on putting a screen protector on? surely anything that could sctrach your screen now days wouldn't be stopped by the sheet of plastic. I get just as many marks on my screen from using it (fingerprints and such) by using a screen protector or not.
so why do people still insist on using them, I just don't see the need.
I only use the ones with anti finger print. Because my screen gets all covered in prints..
a screen protector and case add substantial extra protection. Even a just the phone falling to floor, without a screen protector can badly scratch or break screen.

I don't use those protectors anymore becuase the material is very often very cheap. All my protectors got soo many scratches so i "put it away" and now I don't get any scratches on my display.

I haven't used a screen protector in a while. I just use the case with my S3 and leave it without. You just gotta make sure you clean off the screan from prints and that's it. I find the screen protectors were more of a pain in the ass than anything.
I'm with iXanza, I specifically have the anti-smudge protector because between me and my girlfirend and babysitting my cousins my screen gets so greasy and gross I can't even enter my unlock code without having the protector..
Beacuse I already scratched my phone in my pocket without that protection. I put together wuth my car keys
Not got one for mine, and so far so good.
Because it keeps your screen like new
Gorilla glass is scratch resistant, not scratch proof. Sodium is very sharp, and can damage gorilla glass. Sand is even worse. When you can buy screen protecters cheap, why not? Replacing a protecters is a lot better than replacing a screen.

Because anyone with a wife knows they will DESTROY any device that isn't protected... My wife ruined a very good screen protector the first week she had it on her phone. Mine looks new up until I sell my phone, perhaps years later. I can't imagine what kind of damage a naked phone would have after a trip in her purse. Lol

+1 to all posts differentiating scratch resistant vs scratch proof. No glass is scratch proof, so the trick is finding a screen protector that doesn't dramatically compromise touch screen sensitivity. Going without screen protection will equal scratches, but people balance usability vs. Protection to determine if they slap a protector on there. Wow...it's just like condoms in a way.

I gave up on screen protectors...didn't think I needed one due to the higher quality glass in todays phones. But alas, there is a huge scratch across the screen of my Xiaomi MI. Kind of disappointed. I much prefer the clarity and sensitivity of not using a protector but...

I used to wear a screen protector on my phone but now i dont.
I put my phone into my bag with keys and other accessories and the screen protector did a great job but i had to replace it often.
So i abandon the idea of a screen protector and i bought a leather case that protects whole device and everything is ok.
Additionaly the sense of "naked" screen is better of any protector...

They all have the same purpose whether you like it or not, i.e. protect your screen. So save money for something else more important if you don't think you would need one. I got 2 kids and they have been fighting to each other everyday just to get the Nexus 7 and it's been scratched up like hell. So I must have one to protect it.

[Q] Zenfone 2 glass matte finish screen protector?

I've usually only seen these for "premium" devices + the iPhones. Any sighting of matte/anti glare tempered glass screen protectors for this new little beast?

I've never heard one matte TGSP before and I've owned many "premium" devices. I don't use icrap however if the nattw ones exist that's news to me after owning 15 android phones and tablets. In using the standard Nilkin glass one now and yes great but not matte

Have you ever used any matte screen protectors, even the cheap ones? I really would prefer a matte protector to a smooth one, but I also want to use high quality, long lasting products.

I prefer the matte finish to a slick one, and I prefer a tempered glass screen protector because they're higher quality and generally last longer than the ones that are either cheap plastic or some sort of non-rigid film.
That's fair enough, I've never seen a matte one myself, I only use the clear TGSP
Nillkin makes nice ones, I have them on both of my Zenfone and they fit/seal perfectly.

Could you comment on if they're actually matte or if they're just a smooth finish with some sort of anti-glare stuff going on? I want a true matte finish on mine. If they are, would you be willing to link me to where you got them? Nillkin sells an anti-glare crystal version and an anti-glare matte version, but the product descriptions are so similar that I can't really tell what I'm buying.
It's not an anti glare model, its just a standard TGSP but the fit & finish are great. I bought it off amazon and I can get the link if you want. Also like any TGSP (tempered glass screen protector) it has a anti glare quality but nothing like a matter one. I always found matte screen protected distort the display
Have you find one? I used matte screen protector (not TGSP) in my phones and I also prefer matte or antiglare...
I never did find one, unfortunately. I ended up getting the Nillkin matte finish one. I tried to do that over my glass one, but the fit didn't work. Just the matte one has been fine for me so far.
Do you like it? I'm looking at Nillkin H+, it says it's antiglare...
Yeah it works great. That's what I got. I haven't had any issues with it lifting off or anything so far.

Don't you think display is too defenceless ?

This device mount gorilla glass 3.i trust it.But maybe the display under gorilla glass is tooo weak.damn i had a s4 used without protection for 2 years.absolutely no scratches.Besides use display protection with the zenfnone2's low brightness woud be bad.i have this zenfone from 2 months and an ugly scratch is often visible.so i think the display is weak.s4 has gorilla glass 3 too but its diplay is stronger itself, without considering the gorilla glass.this thing annoy me
Had mine for 2 week without screen protection and it had small scratches all over. Keep in mine i had the asus flip cover with it witch is covered the whole time it was inside my pocket and so. I dont know what the cause of this. But i order an tempered glass to protected it from now on

I use a simple & cheap protection foil and it works well. No problems with brightness.
You can enhance the brightness by changing a setting in the asus energy app. I don't know exactly - removed the app

Agreed with this guy. Mine's perfect? Maybe you put it in the same pocket as keys or something?
My dog stepped all over my screen and it's fine. lol Not even micro scratches.
No guys, i put it in quite secure places. Maybe in the same pocket of the lighter or the keys something like 1 or 2 times. However is a shallow and tiny scratch but sometimes it's visible and it's annoying
I have a couple minor scratches that aren't noticeable with screen on maybe 1 cm or so. . I have a glass protector on the way. . Don't know what caused it maybe the time I accidently put phone in pocket with screwdriver. Anyway hopefully screen protector hurries up from China

I put a screen protector on after about 1 week. The glass was flawless at the time. The screen protector now has several scuffs and scratches, but I'm hopeful that the glass under it is still in perfect shape.

Oh it's fine. If you ever have a spare one lying around or feel like testing buy a cheap one on eBay and it with a hammer. Not at full force obviously but if you just let gravity do the work for you it may not even Crack on first try.

I once saw an S4 with a very long scratch, maybe 4-5 centimeters long, after less than a week of use. You have to remember that no matter what, sand is the same hardness as the screen (glass is made of sand, after all ) and will scratch it.
Easiest solution, get a tempered glass screen protector. They're about $5 on ebay. If it gets scratched or cracked, replace it...

I strongly agreed. In fact, I'd say phone makers should just stop using those fancy monkey-named glass to keep the price low, and let the customers spend the money on the tempered glass protector - or just make it standard accessories.

What do they feel like though? My sister has a screen protector oh her iPhone and it feels all plastic and horrible compared to the original screen; not sure what she used however. Does the tempered glass actually feel like glass?
Got to dedicate the right front pocket to only your smartphone. Do this and you'll never get scratches.

The tempered glass screen protectors are naturally quite rigid before application, but bizarrely I wasn't able to find many glass ones for this when I was looking. Perhaps it's something to do with the very flat profile that the body has around the screen, such would have a very discernible "step" between the screen and the body. I have a protector made by Celicious, which is some type of polyurethane and it seems to be doing a great job, not the typically easily-scuffed plastic protectors. Has anyone else used a tempered glass protector for the Zenfone 2 and what are your thoughts on it?

I have 2 Zenfone 2's. Both have glass screen protectors. The ones I bought have a curved edge and are really good.
Glass will always feel like glass (these are NOT plastic or anything else). Just make sure to get the version with the left hand side proximity sensor cutout as there were problems reported with complete glass versions where the screen wouldn't come back on after calls.
No real problems but if possible try to get oleophobic coating as it will cut down on fingerprints though a quick wipe will fix it if you don't have this.

I bought this one http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00SMAC0BW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 on 1st july and it has no scratches at all (had the phone 2 weeks before that and no scratches there neither).
Also got the black hardcover (which includes a pretty ****ty protective plastic foil)
Btw, keys etc shouldn't be able to scratch the screen at all. Even with quite a bit of force (just tested it ... you can feel if it's just gliding smooth over the screen). Sand can have particles in it which are hard enough
