Xtreme Guardz - 1$ Wet Apply Screen Protector - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

This is a wet apply screen protector from Xtreme Guards. They usually run about 10 bucks but on ebay and amazon you can find them for really cheap. In terms of protection I'd assume that it would protect the device pretty well since it's thicker than some of the other protectors I've tried (SGP, and a regular plastic one). It doesn't seem to have any orange peel either.
I just installed and so far so good. It just comes in the mail with a screen protector and a squeege so you would need to dip it in soapy water and apply. This obviously doesn't come with a warranty or anything but is really cheap so I wouldn't mind buying another one. In my opinion this is better than ghost armor (about the same quality for way less). I'd always run to a kiosk everytime I get a new phone and shell out around 40 bucks just to get it done. This is definitely a better alternative.

Just got the 3 I ordered when I saw this thread. These are pretty great. I like the wet protectors since they cover the whole screen and are easy to position right. There is no orange peel on these and they feel pretty good (little rubbery, but that's been the case with any wet protector I've used). These are better than the Phantom Skinz I was using, and they're only a dollar a pop.

Got them for my Bionic when I had it. They orange peel like crazy, never using them again.

Does it take awhile for three orange peel to show up? I just installed it earlier today and I don't see any even with a light shining on it with the screen off. Hopefully it stays like that, but I'm out 3 bucks off it doesn't.

Mine doesn't have any orange peel either. I got them yesterday and just installed. It looks pretty good has more protection than the SGP wet apply screen, but the SGP is less rubbery and this one is rubbery since I think it is thicker. It will definitely protect it against keys etc.
All in all a very solid buy. I'll post pics when I can get my hands on a camera.

All of them take some time for it to start to appear.

Keys unless pressure really really hard will never scratch a screen, glass is much stronger than most material that keys are made of.

Also here's a link for the full body protector, I'm not sure if its for CDMA or GSM though I'm going to order on so I guess I'll find out http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-Prime-FULL-BODY-Clear-LCD-Screen-Protector-Case-Shield-/230711537975?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item35b77ab137

Tried it on a GS2, screen feels very rubbery but thick.

I really do like the feeling of this sellers screen protectors, I've bought all of mine from him, including a $10 one for my transformer.
I've never tried his full guards because I always have a case on my device, but his front protectors have done me wonders.

do you use a screen protector?

When I bought this vibrant used, it already has a screen protector. Either the previous owner applied it wrong or the screen protector was awful! The colors on the screen were completely washed out and it removed from the beauty of the SAMOLED
Buy a realook.
No, and I've had mine for a few months and still can't see any scratches on it.
I'm running Ghost Armor and I love it.
i bought a 3 pack of clear screen protectors on ebay. they cost $5 for all three and look amazing. They also feel really slick on the fingers. Colors are great on my samoled. DONT buy a mirror screen protector! They suck bad,,,
I second the realook. Kinda of a pain to install. 1 spec of dusts will ruin the look. But worth it. Looks awesome.
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo
Nude is the BEST!!
I've had my phone since July and have gone naked since September and the screen still looks good as new! I keep it in my pocket at times and sometimes in a holster, but all I have on it at all times is a hard-rubber case.
I do not use a screen protector. If I find one that is nearly invisible then I will use one.
I do. I have tried BodyGuardz, Zagg's and Realook and i would recommend Realook if you choose to go with one, you wont even notice that there's a screen protector there.

It does offer some protection against minor scratches but doesn't full protect your screen, personally I use a reallook screen protector and it works wonderfully. No color or.image distoetion thar I can see and I've been using it since.october now.

I was thinking ghost armor. Now with otterbox coming out with a vibrant model ill wait till then. I used a crap protector from walmart and it was fine for a while. I went to tmobile and the store help saw my screen and thought that I had messed it up. After explaining to him what it was he said that I didn't need one cause of the gorilla glass, and I haven't had one on sense then. Saying that it is completely scratch resistant is kind of a lie, as if I look hard enough I can see a very very fine scratch in the lower corner of my phone. You have to look real hard and get the light just right.

i used a 5-pk i got from ebay... lol i dont understand the reason on buying the higher end ones, but to each his own. i'm not that big of a visualphile to spend that kind of money on screen protectors....
and gorilla glass is MORE scratch RESISTANT instead of scratch PROOF. Big difference.
I've kept a skinomi on mine since I bought it in august and it's barely noticeable. Doesn't changes the color or brightness, but does make the screen just a tad less slick, but I got used to that in a week. Lifetime warranty too.
invisible shield is what i use, works great and feels great
I'm using this http://www.stealthguards.com/index.php/cellphones/samsung-vibrant-full-body-protection.html. They're free, you just pay shipping. I love mine. Can't tell it's there at all. I didn't use the one for the back though as I have my phone in a hard case.
i had ghost armor installed on my phone when i first got it and i hated it. every little speck of dust and lint from my pocket got stuck on the coating edges. also the dude at the place i got it installed at told me that if there are any problems with it after it dried all the way to just come back and they would reapply it for no charge. needless to say, they didnt apply it correctly the first time and i went back. they tried to charge me another $25. me and my friend (who also got it applied and had issues) told him to go **** himself.

Ghost Armor v. Invisible Shield

Is Ghost Armor or Invisible Shield better?
I am just in the market for a screen protector, I love the Ghost armor body, but I am getting a case anyway, so I dont really see the point in getting the full body protection.
The ghost armor is way better, there's a thread somewhere in here showing pictures of it already. I've used all of them and zagg is always my least favorite. Even though I always try the zagg with every new phone I get and just end up throwing it away...

How does it compare to XO skins or BestSkinEver or Skinomi?
I've got a tough-mate case and it's managed to peel up all 3... I've had to switch back to a diztronics TPU case til I can solve it... any tips?
I will probably get flamed for this, but I think the Zagg's are crap. Sure they're patented and popular, probably because they're sold in retail stores like Best Buy to consumers who may be unaware that there are better options out there. The irony here is that I bought a Zagg for my GNex. I had one on my Vibrant last year and it was so-so. The orange peel was horrible and the edges look equally bad over time. The orange peel on this Zagg isn't as bad, but it is still easily noticed.
This Zagg also carries the same annoying 'defect' as the one on my Vibrant....those occasional rainbow type horizontal or vertical hairlines. Zagg told me it was the way I applied the skin and I said BS. After putting on enough Zagg's over the years, I consider myself fairly skilled at applying the wet type screen protectors. I got all the air bubbles out and let it dry long enough without using the phone as they request. But on a white background you can definitely see a line here and there.
I haven't tried Ghost Armor yet, but I did order a Clear-Coat and an SGP flex protector and will compare those two and use which one I like best. But as it stands, my opinion of the Zagg hasn't changed. I also find it more annoying that they seemed to have started "branding" the lower right corner with Zagg on their newer protectors. Luckily I was able to rub over it enough to wipe it off, LOL.

I think the Skinomi is worse than the Zagg. I tried one on my Vibrant last year and was not impressed. I can't speak for BSE. The toughcase peeled up the corners of my Zagg as well. I switched back to my Diztronic TPU because of that. I didn't like the fit of the toughcase anyway. As much as I dislike the Zagg, I'd rather keep it on than the toughcase, LOL. The silicone layers that touch the phone body will eventually start peeling up the protector simply because they flex and stretch over time. Combine that with the issue of a case being designed for the LTE Nexus (slightly thicker) and being used on the GSM Nexus which is thinner and you'll see what I mean. The TPU cases shouldn't have this problem because they're more rigid. I had to make sure the Zagg was centered perfectly so that it's not riding up to the very edge of the screen on one side which makes matters worse. Even after all of this, I'll bet money the Zagg starts to peel at the edge and corners anyway because that's what they eventually do.
My opinion is Ghost amour is by far better.
I can barely see the outline on the screen. In fact you wouldn't notice it unless looking for it.
There is no detraction of the clarity of the screen.
Feels almost exactly like the bare screen. Just slightly not a smooth.
Lifetime guarantee- just pay install if it bubbles, peels, or you scratch it.
They will custom cut anything you want.

Best Screen Protector?

So after a month of having this phone, I have decided that it is an absolute beast and has been made even beastlier with the hardworking developers on this site. However, I have (somehow) obtained a few scratches on my screen and as a result, have decided to invest in a good screen protector. My ideal screen protector is one that takes away minimal feeling of the "glass" on the screen, while simultaneously keeping the phone looking fresh and sharp as if there is nothing on there. In the worst case scenario, I'm looking to be able to cover up my current scratches, and then prevent future ones.
If anyone has any recommendations that would be great - thanks!
Just get the zagg at the tmobile store it looks weird the first day but give it 24 hours and it will be perfect. Also use the foursquare app to check in and you will get 30% off the screen protector. Oh and it comes with a lifetime warranty.

To be honest I have no idea. I have not been in a 50 mile radius of any sort of sand since I got the phone, nor have I ever dropped it or anything like that. The only thing I could think of would be that it got scratched while in one of my pockets? Although that is pretty unlikely since I always give my S2 its own pocket..

Look into Realook. It looks and feels like it isn't there. If you look at my phone, you can't even tell it's there, covers the entire screen as well.
Realook is so perfect there is no way of knowing that its there. Only thing is its not as oleophobic or anti fingerprinting as it says. But all premium protectors are like that too - even though they advertise elsewise.

I discovered a tiny pinhead chip in mine yesterday over the menu button, so at least its not visible. I cant feel it when using the phone, but if you rub your fingernail on the screen you feel it.
I worried about it a bit, but its a phone, and i have the insurance.
The Realook protectors definitely seem to b getting some great reviews. I will most likely end up buying one of them, thanks again everyone!

I had bad experiences with realook, with its own squeegee scratched the screen protector. And i didn't add alot of pressure, they sent me another one but i eventually had to get a refund because it was just so easy to get scratched. Remember my personal experience maybe others had it better than me, but the only two companies i would go for screen protectors is SGP(real good quality and great customer service) and Zagg(lifetime support).
I just put a reallook protector on mine and it didnt come with a squeegee. The instructions said to use the cloth to rub out the bubbles. Putting it on took some real effort though. About 30min into the process of application (i just couldnt get it aligned right) i dropped it sticky side down on the floor. I had to spend another 20 min cleaning it off using scotch tape but it ended up going on fine with no dust. It works great. Ive only had it a week though so i cant comment on the scratchproofness.

I discovered this ebay sp supplier when I was a Sensation addict. They were the only ones that I found that would fit the Sensation's curved screen. I have since installed them on every phone in my household. I put that bleeeep on everything! They are a dry install product, superclear and not rubbery. I have paid many times more for equal or less quality product.

The Zagg has a real bad orange peel affect. It looks horrible if you are looking at an angle or using it outside.

It only took me about 5 min to get it straightened up and applied on. Then maybe like a few seconds to get the air bubble out from there. Didn't get any dust/lint on the SP so for me it was perfect on the dot. Even if you look at it under the light, you won't know it's there. There is only one small tell, by the earpiece that you can see it's there
+1 for Ghost Armor. The local mall has a kiosk where they apply it for you...and only $5 to have them replace it. Best screen shield i ever used, great value, highly recommended

Worst advice ever, well perhaps not but definitely not a protector I would recommend. The problem with the Zagg invishield is that its very rubbery and more times the coefficient of friction will be too great to even enjoy doing anything on the phone.
I have the SGP ultra crystal and I'm very happy.
Had a zagg on a previous phone and didn't like it as much as this one.
Here is a GREAT ONE!
This one is very good quality, its also VERY cheap, I ordered 2 of them which is a total of 4 Screen Protectors,
Its Crystal clear, feels great on the fingers and doesn't feel cheap.
Perfect size, no cutting required an theres holes for the FFC and Speaker and stuff
Its absolutely great! and only 2 dollars (free shipping) for two of them!
I seriously can't even tell i have a screen protector on, it came out perfect!
Last but not least, there ya go!

Looking for a Screen Protector

I'm trying to buy a screen protector preferably with a matte finish. I like the fact that its a smooth finish allowing for easy gliding with your fingers. I also looked up crystal clear ones but I do not know how they feel to the touch. Also I'm trying to look for ones with good cutouts (NOT like this: http://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-Anti-G...8-6&keywords=galaxy+s3+screen+protector+matte). Do your fingers glide across it easily or does it kinda stick? I've put invisible shields on my phones before and I hate that its sticky (even when I first applied it) and the orange peel/yellowing effect
From what I know, the Flex HD is pretty smooth to the touch and you won't have to worry about any orange peel/yellowing effect because it's a high quality product.

not sure about the matte finish or the glide for you, but i can tell you i've had 3 screen protectors on my galaxy s3.
first there was the ZAGG. expensive, full body, etc. the screen protector was decent enough, very plyable and stretchy. uses that press and peel install method. cutouts for the phone suck though. they are cut-downs, not cut outs. more area is exposed than needed. i never did like the feel of it either once it was on. that and the store guy goofed the install, so...tore that off.
then there was the protector that came with Incipio case i bought. way different material. stiff and rigid, a harder plastic feel than the soft plyable ZAGG. i think this is that "crystal" type protector. but the cutouts were worse on this than the ZAGG. even more area exposed because of big cut downs on the top and bottom (lots of area exposed up top basically stretching end to end) i did install it though, and i liked the feel and glide more than the ZAGG. it seems more "slippery". unfortunately the top two corners never took (they are awfully pointy due to the big exposure up top). they seemed to be bent up in the packaging. and so that screen protector also came off (i do like the incipio case though).
now i'm onto the Skinomi. came with a skin. the cut outs are actual cut outs. no cut downs, no extra exposure. install was a little harder due to alignment, i swear i think they cut it small. i did get everything to line up eventually though. old school install with the spray bottle. material of the Skinomi is probably more ZAGG than Incipio-like, but it's not quite as plyable as the ZAGG. I do actually like the feel on my finger with the Skinomi. It's not the same feel as the Incipio though, it has a little more "sticky" to it than the hard protector did. pretty pleased with it tho, and it's working thus far.... :good:
anyway, if that helps, cool. if not, thanks for the vent.
Moshi is nice and anti glare... It does cover edge to edge but the blue trim covers up the blue pebble finish. I have the sgp nano optics on the way...

Anyone plan to sell their second piece of their flex hd? =)
I saw in a review video from a guy who posted it on this forums said it had a rubber feel to it. I'm a swype user and I hate when my finger gets stuck because of that rubber feeling. When I felt matte for the first time, it glided so easily that I would never have problems swyping.

I was never a fan of Zagg products, until I had the HD screen protector installed on my S3. Perfectly clear, and its 100x smoother than regular Invisishield products. Id recommend it to anyone.
so I've had a chance to try a few different screen protectors already and I've found that the edge of the S3 display has a slight curve making it difficult for screen protectors to stay down.
the edges on 3 different sp's have done this. I've tried a full screen and then a few that were smaller than the display and still have issues.
The issue is that thick screen protectors just lift up off the curved display over time..
It sounds like wet SP installs are going good though?

I snagged the Incipio Sicrylic (sp?) off ebay. It's the soft rubber case with the two pieces. A snug rubber piece, and an outer "shell" that snaps onto the rubber case. Works really well actually. My daily case at the moment (better than the vent samsung with coin holder, and a straight skin from skinomi - i have the carbon skin)
I could post a link, but I'm a newb and so that's not allowed. I'll try to take a picture or sometghing and update this or my earlier post. Spent all this money on acc's...might as well share with folks so they don't have to repeat my mistakes....
and to the other poster who mentioned wet installs going well - i'll have to agree. vs the peel install on zagg, and the rgular install on the incipio crystal, i've ben happiest with my work and the protector after the wet install on the skinomi.

I'm seriously considering ordering one of the Spectre screen protectors. My only concern is the it will affect what cases I can use.

I was never a fan of Zagg products, until I had the HD screen protector installed on my S3. Perfectly clear, and its 100x smoother than regular Invisishield products. Id recommend it to anyone.

Thanks, I'm going to pick up mine now.

Is a screen protector really necessary for the n5?

debating whether or not to use one your thoughts?

i personaly never used a screeprotector on any phone, but i do recommend a good case that absorps shocks/drops because the screen cracks easily as it seems because of its size.
It s one of those. . You'd glad it s there when you need it.

I got som hairline scratches after a couple of days using it in a pouch, that really sucks. I ordered a new one that i am going to use with a glass screenprotector.

My work environment dictates that I have to have to have a protector. I don't care if it's gorilla glass 10 it will scratch.

I've had my Nexus since the 5th, no case/no scratches. I keep mine in a sleeve with fleece inside, I learned last time w/ my n4 that if you just put it in your pocket the glass will scratch from sand/dust/anything that may be in your pocket.. so I don't take chances anymore.
Everytime i didnt protect my phonescreen it had ended up with significant scratches so i would say yes

The best way to decide is to judge from your experience.
If you aim to prevent scratches:
Think about your last phone. You used a screen protector.
Did you change your screen protector? When you noticed that the protector have scratches on it, were you annoyed?
If you find out you actually don't care much about the minor scratches on the film, and you don't plan on selling your phone, you probably don't need one.
The glass is much more scratch resistant than any screen protector. If you can stand those scratches on the protector, you can stand those rare and minor ones on the glass. Save money and enjoy the glass.
Just remember, never place your phone face down, nor wipe it with a dirty cloth. The sand particles will scratch the screen.
Of course, if deep scratches regularly appear in your case, you might want screen protectors.
On the other hand, there are protectors which tries to prevent the screen from cracking. I would recommend those if you don't want a case.
A case with raised lips is already very effective at preventing scratches/shatter as it keeps the screen away from the ground.
installed a skinomi screen and body protecting film, love it, love it, love it. Doesn't do much for drops, otherwise awesome product and adds the perfect amount of grip. This was an issue for me having the white version.
I prefer the Zagg screen protectors from Best Buy and I'll pay them the extra money to install it. The few times I have installed them on my own I get dust or fingerprints, those guys install thousands and in my opinion are worth paying to take the hassle out of it

It depends on how clean you keep your hands at all times and the environment you're regularly in.
Yes...but which one? Since 11-4 I've stayed with the screen protector from the factory. Tired of looking through the "nexus5," I'll decide today which one to use in its place. Any suggestions? The list is:
UltraClear that came with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid
TechArmor HD Clear (3-pack)
iSmooth Ultra Clear (3-pack)
XtremeGuard Full Body (2pc) - damaged in shipment, so this one is out
I don't understand why anybody would consider not using a screen protector. IMO it's cheap insurance. Properly installed, you don't even know they are there. You get fingerprints either way you go.
It's a no brainer for me.

I don't have any experience with those screen protectors... But I am using the Spigen Crystal Clear 3pk and I'm quite happy with it (very good clarity and not sticky when swiping my finger across the screen).

Thanks. Whichever I select for now, it's merely a placeholder until early December when I can get my hands on the new Spigen glas.tr nano slim.
I had a screen protector on my Amaze for about the first 2 months. Then it looked absolutely terrible with scrapes and bubbles and crap. Plus I hated the tactile feel. So I took it off and for the last year and a half I've gone naked. The screen has no marks of any kind on it. If my N5 ever gets here I'll be putting on a Cruizerlite case but no screen protector.

I have used the wet apply ones in the past (Zagg, Bodyguardz, and Skinomi). They all seem a bit sticky when swiping across them. The Zagg while being the priciest do remain scratch free better than the other two brands.
Recently I've decided to just use the cheaper multi packs and as I've said, the Spigen linked above works for me. I do see micro scratches on the protector when I LOOK for them in direct sunlight but the clarity is still very good.
I see no point in spending so much for a screen protector when I'll get a new Nexus phone next year

I used to hate the plastic static or sticky type multi pack screen protectors until figuring out it should be installed in a bathroom after steaming it up to reduce dust. You can lift the screen protector and use a piece of Scotch tape to remove the dust.
