Crossbones Kernel version: 0.1.0
The Crossbones Kernel (tuna) was derived from the Codename Android kernel, which is based upon (and created by) the Savaged-Zen kernel. We chose to base our kernel off of this particular kernel as mwielgosz has worked closely in the past with the developers of this kernel.
The original kernel base is built off of 4.0.4 kernel source code and is at linux version 3.0.26
Source code:
https://github.com/C...nes_kernel_tuna
Apparently were having issues with wifi on this release. Tomorrow I will release a build with the stock kernel and see if that fixes our issue. If not, we shall debug.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hello everyone,
Crossbones ROM is now available on ROM Manager.
Currently, if you are a premium user, RM will not detect an update for Crossbones if you are on a version less that 0.2.0 (which has yet to be released). So once, 0.2.0 IS released, RM will notify you of an update

Tested and ran 0.2.0 a few days ago and I was amazed that it ran as smooth as it did clocked at 1.4. No matter what kernel supported 1.4 I wasn't nearly as stable as SZ's. U guy did a hellava job on this. Yes, all the options aren't I. There just yet, like AOKP and others. By this thing was light weight and quick. Give the DEVs sometime for them MODs. Don't think these guy are into KANG. :beer:

Crossbones Kernel Information:
Current version: 0.1.5
Kernel is included in ROM and not available or supported as a flashable zip.
Source Code: https://github.com/Crossbones/crossbones_kernel
The kernel that's included in the Crossbones is a customized kernel based on Google's latest source (Linux 3.0.8). The idea behind this kernel is to provide a kernel that improves performance and the user experience but keep the stability of the stock kernel.
This kernel has been tested by all members of the team for over 48 hours and everyone has had the same result: nothing but excellent performance. This kernel is not even overclockable (yet) and honestly, doesn't feel like overclocking is needed. Every new feature added to the kernel is tested by all team members to ensure it does not affect stability and only improves the kernel. Our goal with this ROM and kernel is to have better performance and keep the stability of the stock ROM and kernel. Overclocking and undervolting will be added to the kernel eventually so if you're looking to overclock the kernel, flash a kernel that lets you overclock. However, we recommend trying our ROM with our kernel for a day and you'll see how good it is, guaranteed.
Kernel Information:
* LulzActive2 Governor
* SIO Scheduler
* Fixed bug with cpu frequencies being reported to sysfs
* Set noop to default scheduler
* Google's/Samsung latest base (3.0.8)
* BFQ I/O Scheduler (Set as default)
* SLQB slab allocator (Set as default)
* LagFree CPU Governor (Set as default and our favorite)
* BLN
* BLX
* BLD
* Voodoo
* CFS Autogroup scheduling enabled
* Other minor things I forgot I as wrote this (I'll try to take notes)
Credits:
* Google and Samsung for a great base and device
* Ezeekeel for all his awesome contributions and tweaks used in this kernel
* Paolo Valente and Fabio Checconi for BFQ
* Nick Piggin for SLQB
* supercurio for voodoo
* All the other devs that contribute into this great open source community. If I missed anyone and you feel you deserve credit please let me know
Other:
During our testing, some of us preferred using no-op as the default I/O scheduler while other chose BFQ. We suggest you test and be the judge

Accepting money for someone else's work isn't exactly right.

I'll put it this way. I would never post anything that the Dev wouldn't allow. It was suggested against my wishes. And thanks as such things do occur. But rest assure any and all go towards server space, atm, and then development for other devices.

I insisted jta to post a donate link for himself, not only for helping run the thread over here at XDA, but for all the other things that he has done to make the development of this ROM possible. Without his help, I wouldn't have been able to build for this device in the first place, so I believe it to be fair for him to have his own donate link.
No one forces anyone to donate to anyone. But if you would like to, donate to someone who has put forth a lot of energy in getting me set up with the proper hardware and constantly tests each release for quality control so I can develop this ROM.
Thanks for this, will check out.

OP just informing of this ROM existance
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.0 (ICS), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Is it safe to flash glados kernel with this rom right?

These have been running very nicely, spent a good amount of time in the field today and am still at 25% battery after 15 hours. Was roaming for about 5 hours of that time and using tether for about an hour and a half. Very nice to see the power widget included now, been missing that.
One thing I have noticed is relatively high wake lock from android system though. It was ~25% on alpha 16 (not nearly as high as some of the other ICS Roms though), alpha 15 was only ~10%.

I am not familiar with any other kernels. KalimochoAz is the developer enhancing the stock kernel. His kernels are always conscious of stability, battery life, and performance.

I've been using the glados kernel (v2.1) for the last two days with a16 and I haven't noticed any issues. The battery life is great too.
Does wallet work on this?

Yes. It seems that as soon as I set up my exchange account in addition to Google it broke all syncing. Also, the calendar in the what to sync menu for each account displayed as com.calendar.android or something similar.

First, almost all non-stock features have been coded by myself. Of course there are a few that I didn't write, but this ROM is minimal but unique.
Features include:
* Crossbones Welcome app for showing a changelog with each new release
* CPU Settings built into Settings app
* A custom kernel with tons of governor/scheduler choices
* Quick Settings menu from icon in the notification bar (new with this release, screenshot in OP)
* Extended Power options (I did not write this code)
* The MMS Split code I wrote way back when
* GooManager preinstalled for OTA updates.
I forget what else is in the ROM that's different from stock. Also, some things about the Gnex version are different than the Nexus S version. I've been working on this project for the past 6 months and I've forgotten some of the things that I've changed from stock. I guarantee there are some unique features that will be expanded upon, for example, I'm very excited to get more work done on the Quick Settings
Please do not start requesting features. I have a list of things I need to change/add. Sadly, I don't have the time to work with the ROM all the time, I have a job, two kids, and I'm getting married next Saturday (provided it doesn't rain) :victory:

yes very nice it's very useful to get fast into the settings eg bluetooth for visibility. can't wait for the next update
btw i noticed that the touch recovery is sometimes very laggy on scrolling and it chooses other action. for example i choose "install zip" and it chooses "advance settings"

I would recommend using GooManager to select, order, and flash zips. Just make sure that TWRP is installed. You can install it through GooManager.
I don't develop the recovery itself, so I'm not sure why it would be laggy. I've never had a lag issue using GooManager though, and did write the select, order, and flash code
If its GooManager you're having an issue with, talk to the guys at goo.im about that one.

Public test releases of Crossbones 2.0 (Jellybean) are available from the following link.
http://goo.im/devs/crossbones/test_releases
Standard JB gapps from goo.im work perfectly.
This release does not include a custom kernel at this point, but a lot of work has been done.

Torch in power widget will be one of the next steps. You have a widget on the ROM with toch that you can add meanwhile in the screen.

Optimized toolchains
Optimized compilers
Performance geared modified kernel
Lots of performance tweaks
Using it as my daily now, loving it so far. No real battery issues but only running for a few hours.

You most likely need to enable root. Go into settings, developer options and look for root access. Change from none to apps, and your backup should work.

The 2 lines in the apq8084_sec_defconfig_spr for vibrator and tacassist need to be removed. I sent a change request on github, tmo and can have them removed but spr still has them.
Nice fast ROM. Have noticed that there are no sounds assigned to clicking the hardware buttons. Do you know what CM calls that sound? Also notice no vibrations as others have mentioned.

As usual with these CM Roms my battery absolutely evaporates. No idea what causes that but lucky to get 3 hours on a full charge.
Been off battery for 5 hours and have 19% left. This is with light to medium use. 49% of use is Miscellaneous.
Put in a new battery at noon. 2 pm and 50% left. Can't wait for Sprint to release Lollipop. Love it but these CM Roms are murder on battery.
