Can I use my old charger from my Original Droid to charger my new Galaxy Nexus?
The old charger is the kind that has the USB plugged into the part that goes into the wall socket. and has the standard mini USB, same as the charger that came with the GN. Was just wonder if the voltage would be different?
thanks for any help. Wanted an extra charger at work.
Should work no problem
Has anyone seen John Connor?
Should work. And it's micro usb for future reference. Mini is too big.

Yea, micro
Check the output. Ideally, you want it to match that of the GNex charter, which is 5V and 1A

The voltage should match, but the ampere doesn't have to. In fact, it's better if it's bigger (only slightly though, otherwise the battery might overheat).

Does the voltage have to match? Do we need additional transformers for travelling between Europe and USA?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
The Samsung Droid Charge "charger" here in the US works just fine and can be purchased on eBay for around $5. In fact I think it's the same charger they bundle for the Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus.

You will see that most of chargers these days support 110 - 240 V and 50 - 60 Hz, so they should work everywhere. All you'd need is an adapter, but no transformers.

But it does need to be a 5v power supply.

That was for the input voltages. The output from the charger should be 5 V.

Huh? Just get any of those from eBay from a reputable seller. If you buy them cheap they're probably knockoff.
I ordered some onite batteries 2 and a charger for 20. Whats your experience with those?

why not just get the charge port and replace it, I think they're about 5 bucks on ebay, that is if you're ok with opening your device of course.
Any one know if there's a cheaper one available and confirmed working?
There are cheapo ones that say "galaxy s3, s3, htc evo, etc" compatible, but i dont think a lot of sellers realize its a different pin connection.
has anyone been able to purchase one that works?
the genuine samsung one is too expensive.

You can use a cheapo adapter with Samsung's adapter kit.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Samsung-OEM-...Accessories&hash=item2572f37fc3#ht_1660wt_889
Free shipping to the US. $26 shipping to Canada (which is why I haven't purchased it yet)
Yeah I think I may just use the MHL adapter from the GS2 and the 5-pin to 11-pin adapter tip both from samsung. At least they're both OEM and I don't really feel like waiting.
MHL: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006FYXL2O/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&smid=A2AXKMC4UVT4QQ
Adapter Tip: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0083FYL0O/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&smid=A1FBR7E8HT21EQ
Total is only $22.65. Just over half the price of the GS3 adapter.
The adapter tip you guys are referring to is usb to micro hdmi right? So you need the adapter tip plus micro hdmi to hdmi cable. The latter can be picked up for 4 bucks from ebay.

No, the MHL adapter is a microUSB to regular HDMI adapter. However the old MHL adapters for the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S2 use a 5-pin microUSB input and you need an 11-pin microUSB input so that's what the adapter tip does.

I got a no brand name made-in-China qi charger from ebay, and it works great.
just search with this term on ebay and you will find it.
"qi Wireless Charger for Nexus 4 Lumia 920 HTC 8X DNA Samsung Galaxy Note2 S3"
My concerns with the dbox / eBay ones are whether they will last compared to the nexus orb. It's tempting cost wise but I would be concerned the device fails and I have to get another. Did you guys compare at all to the official orb?
As for the official one, for those that own it is it really easy to pull off / on off the dock?
I read about Tylt and looks like a nice charger but I don't think I want to spend $80 on one either
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 4
i noticed the d-box one the tablet slips off a bit so id imagine it would be the same for the official one...
I was reading through the Amazon reviews and it sounds like it can be a common issue and not just isolated to the Nexus 7. Funny that dbox lists it's product with no slip in the label

It's easy enough, just set it on the orb so that the orb is roughly in the middle, and wait for the docking sound, assuming you have it turned on. When you want to take the tablet somewhere just lift it and it comes right off the charger. It holds the tablet such that the tablet makes a great nightlight/clock for the nightstand.

Nokia DT-900 has an indicator LED when charging. The charge plate is about the same width as the N7. So the LED is visible when placed in landscape orientation. Works well for me.
The drawback is the power supply not being USB compatible. One extra thing to pack for travel...

Fyi... It has a huge block charger, and is NOT microusb. Nokia has to make everything their own way...
I am actually going to be attempting to open the device up and solder on a microusb next week when I get my car dock. Going to try to do a Qi/NFC car dock.
i hacked up my $20 charger and did a stealth install in the pocket under my stereo:

Oh really? I think I might as my friend to hand that over...cause he dropped his Nexus 4 on ice shoveling snow last week; cracked screen.
Think you'll find it's 12v so no need for a charger in the car, just wire it straight in...with a fuse obviously!
Any good deals for us folk in the UK?
How well is it working for the Nexus 5?
I've been using one of these Nokia dt900s for a year or so now. First on a Nokia 822 then a droid dna and now the nexus 5. I have had no problems what so ever, seems to work better on the nexus than the others because it still charges even when the phone is crooked. Also anyone know if all att stores are having a sale on it? Good Christmas presents.

I picked up two of these chargers on clearance at a local AT&T store in Austin, TX. Seems it's not a sale so much as they're trying to get rid of them. I got the last two in my local area. Check stock online and see if you can find any anywhere. I had read some reports about the phone getting really warm on this charger. I charged it last night using one and it worked great. The phone didn't have a hint of heat this morning. I'm very pleased.
