Wildpuzzle or DK custom rom?? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been using cm7 for quite a while. I love sense. I wanted to try out a sense-based rom. Went through a few forums but couldn't decide between the two. Plz help out!
HTC Wildfire
CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1
ClockWorkMod v5.0.2.7

Wildpuzzle is no longer developed, its been taken over by kylon and is now rempuzzle, both are excellent and I don't think there are any great differences between them, it all depends what you're after the lite version of rempuzzle is especially good, all the benefits of sense without the junk!

There! Your Thanks Meter is now 111 from 110 ;-)

i have been using dk custom and yes it's really fast....
i had used rempuzzle bt i liked dk more.....
at d end its ur choice...

I have used both rempuzzle and dk Rom... I liked rempuzzle ... since both the Rom are equally fast and stable but I liked the look of rempuzle... so its up to you to decide...

[Q][SOLVED]Wildpuzzle VS DK Custom Froyo

Hi all! I'm thinking about flashing a new Sense ROM and I'm in between these two ROMs, Rempuzzle is hardly modified as I can see and DK has lesser modification. I'm not a big fan of modification but sometimes it's neccesary.
Here's my critteria:
Fastness, smoothness.
Not crashing often.
No noncureable "Win7 themed ****ing XP" ROMs. (some of the roms has so hardly customized that even the android itself is customized and cannot be cureable)
No silly apps that devs injected to earn dollars.
ext4 support.
I have eliminated some ROMs, Rempuzzle and DK Custom is my options. Now I'm asking for those who used them, what you like in these ROMs like/hate and why? Which one you like the most?
Thanks in advance!
Conclusion: RemPuzzle is a nice ROM, I haven't tried the DK Custom but it seems like I won't for a long time. RemPuzzle is a good ROM. There are some little things but they'll be solved in future versions.
Hi.. I have used both the roms for quite a lot of time...currently I'm using rempuzzle which has become my favorite roms so far...what i liked in it is the stability and looks... It's faster than dk rom ... I would recommend you for a rempuzzle rom.. No useless apps... Just the stock ones ....

Thanks for your answer, my only concern is ext4 support in Rempuzzle. Do you have any idea, should I format my ext to ext3?
Edit: ext4 is not a concern anymore since I reparted to ext3.
Yess rempuzzle is far better than dk..
Its newer version.will be uploaded soon..
Its stable and really fast..

There is no "best" Rom. You got to figure out what ui you like and what bugs you are willing to live with. Also depends on what you use your phone for mostly.

First main question is do you want Sense?

Yes, AR 6.x is good and fast. Don't go with AR 7.x - I tried it and IMHO it is slower than 6.x. Also my favorite with Sense is LeeDroid.
Stock ROMs usually don't have any bugs...

Yah . . .u r right. . ARHD 7.0.4 is slower than 6.3.3. . .since its ported. .
But as i said . . . 7.0.4 with rom cleaner and rc tweaks wil give you the best 3.5 experience. . . .
I'm surprised this thread hasn't been shut down yet. Like I said, there is no best rom.

You first gotta ask yourself what do you want on your rom. Sense or Vanilla based. GB, ICS or JB. Tweaks... there's plenty to choose

Not really. Stock ROMs have bugs too, just that they're not any major ones like custom ROMs in development have. No software is bug free. Stock ROMs probably have the same level of bugs (or less) as stable CM 7.2 for our phone, which are small and indiscernible. Nothing major.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
go for one of those, both very stable and fast. battery life is fine too.
ics: icecoldsandwich 8.6.1
gb: cm7.2
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app
CyanogenMod is really stable and fast, has really good performances.
But if you want to keep HTC Sense I recommend (like others on this thread) Android Revolution HD 6.3.3.
You have only to keep in mind that the ROM's choise is a very subjective thing.
Better try all the ROM and see by yourself the one which satisfies you.

Best stable ROM (any version of android, for general usability)

I'm giving my old HTC Desire to my friend, but before I do I want to flash the best ROM for a laymen's use, in terms of stability, battery life and speed.
Personally, I have a Galaxy Nexus with JB and I love it - I think JB heralds a new era in which android finally shows that iOS is just hype and not god.
I've seen there are ROMs right the way up to Jelly Bean, which I find pretty amazing considering the age of the Desire handset - however, there must be quite a few issues to iron out, and I doubt that my friend, who will be more worried about his phone working than whether it's up to date with android, will appreciate these issues.
So which ROM would you recommend? Quick answers appreciated cause I need to give him the phone within two hours! Lol
Thanks for your help

I really enjoy Mr. mephisto and RSK team rom, the 3.5 sense is awsome and the AMAZE cam is.. well.. AMAZING.
I have it for almost 2 months now.
It gives the old Desire a great new look!
and with the aroma installer is super customized.

No freezes, running smoother than any other rom i had.
you need S-off with CM7 and 4EXT touch recovery.

It's beautiful and stable, but it's too heavy (read slow) even on fast sd. If you have to sell the phone, just install stock rom (with sense), or an aosp like cm7 or oxygen.
No man, install stock Oxygen rom , create partition ext4 for a2sd. And that is it. Rom is completely bug free, and it has bedt battery life. Speed is great, and no laggs at all !

The only reason I might even consider changing this rom I'm using would be somewhat poor multitasking. But I think I'll most likely need to finally upgrade to a better device.

Oxygen 2.3.2 + thalamus r4 kernel. Use Oxygen r2 hboot. If You need more space, with GParted make ext3 or ex4 partition.
I've found it best combination (almost one year using it). It's not full of widgets like Sense roms, but You can install Fancy Wigdets or Beautiful Widgets for clock and weather similar to Sense.
I put the last stable version of miui on my dads desire, and it runs perfectly so far. Using the 2.3.7 os which is pretty stable.idk about battery life tho

Stable CM ROM for Wildfire S

Hello all, I have a Wildfire S and I want to unlock and install a custom ROM. I want to try a CM ROM.
Which is the best for a daily use?
Thanks and best regards.
Hi jlazkano
I'm pretty new to this rooting/custom rom party but i loaded Cyanogenmod 9 onto my HTC Wildfire s and althought this biuld is technically still in alpha i think, its stable and its my daily rom. Had no problems with it, very pleased.
androidadvices . com have a really good tutorial on how to get it onto the device.
Hello,
I've tried both CM9 and CM10 and I think CM10 is better. First it is nearly stable. Second it is twice faster than CM9 (even more, but I don't know if the word thrice exists in English ). And third... it 4.1 Jelly Bean ! With Google Now, the amazing notification bar, and... the little 4.1.2 in the "About phone" section
Good unlocking and enjoy !

Hi,
Have just installed CM10 as someone commented earlier, it is still Alpha but it is very smooth and quick and if you use apps2sd you have a lot of free space to try and fill with apps
Thanks both!
Could you put the links to the ROM and Google Apps?
Thanks and best regards.

Here is cm10 : link .
Here are the modded gapps to fit in the small /system partition of our device : link .
Here is the Int2Ext+ script (works quite fine for me) : link .
If you have problems with gapps search the support thread (here for marvel).
Enjoy !
Following the advice on the page, i 'upgraded' from CM9 to CM10 and i must say, ealy days for me yet, but i reckon that CM10 is better then CM9. It just seems more stable and smooth and faster.

Which ROM are you using ? I can say that CM10 ROMs have emerged as a beauty now
They are a lot faster and stable now. Well, of course you will have to use MIUI camera and stuff like that to make all the possibilities of the phone to work I mean, camera won't work like stock. There... I said it. Camera won't be good in any of the CM10/CM9 ROMs . But you will have an advantage like you can use the latest of Android. You can mod it anyway you want it to. And regarding the lag that you have mentioned, I guess that will happen when you use init.d scripts for INT2EXT and stuff like that. When the number of apps increases then depletes the internal storage making the phone slower.
Well, i still have to say that the GB ROMs are best for our phone. I mean , its flawless. Everything works , including camera. You can add flash support if you want to (You gotta be rooted to do these stuff). Battery is also good.
For those who are bored by the GB look and feel, CM ROMs are for you guys. I mean , if you don't use camera at all , then CM ROMs are prefect for you. Djolivier's marvelous ROM is a Good-To-Go ROM . It gives you a balanced battery + Performance. He has added the Aroma installer in it which makes you the one who customizes it as per your need.
And could you give me an advice or link to a single thread that will help to install this new jelly bean on my HTC Wildfire S if possible, I've never done this kind of thing before.

Stable and fast custom rom for my mom?

Hi all =)
I hope I am doing this the right way =)
I have gotten S-off and rooted my moms htc wildfire. Now I need the most stable and fast custom rom for her needs.
She uses her phone for ringing =) doh, texting and then she wants to enjoy some of all the new apps. She never had any free Space for apps before. I have made a Sandisk class 6 micro sd Card for her with ext4 partition 1 gb and 30 mb linux-swap and rest fat32.
So a custom rom that can use an ext4 partition for apps is a must.
I really hope you can help me out, I have to travel home the day after tomorrow, so I hope I can give her something usefull before I leave.
I have looked for other posts and I can see some mentioning cm-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-buzz. Do you think that would be a good choice for my moms needs?
Love :highfive:

I think a Sense based ROM would be better suited for your requirement. they are stable and modified ones are quite fast.
And they are more user friendly than aosp ROMs.
you could use your ext partition with them, as I know.
Kwbr and rempuzzle are good roms.
just suggesting.

Latest version of rempuzzle did have some issues, not serious ones though. Try kwbr first, then if you don't like it you could try rempuzzle. There are some more sense based custom roms out there. You also check them out if you like.
But I think those 2 roms are the best ones.
