question about unlocking !!!!!!!! - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have unlocked my DHD via a code. my question is:
Do I have to re-unlock my DHD after I change the rom????

You shouldn't have to, no. I guess it might depend on the method used to unlock, but usually the change made to unlock a phone is not affected by any ROM you might flash.

You dont need this. When change your rom, your lock status dont change anytime.

Perma- CID Unlock?

I know there's the free CID unlock method... it works well and I've done it a number of times already. I'm thinking though tat I'd rather pay (if necessary) to just permanently CID unlock my phone so I don't have to hassle with it every time I want to install a new ROM.
My phone is already SIM unlocked. Is there a service out there that'll just CID unlock for me (since I don't need the SIM unlock)??
Thanks for the info!
I think is impossible to make a permanent CID unlock simply because the files from new ROM are always locked . But I can't understand the problem here - just one click and the phone is onlocked again. I make unlock after new Flash, but not before Flash, coz I am always shure that i will flash again tomorow.
In fact I doesn't restart after unlock (I know I know this is procedure, but I can Flash without restart after unlock).

Is the CID unlock (e.g. from IMEI check) permanent? Or do you have to re-run some program after each ROM flash?

The CID unlock from IMEI-check should be permanent. The CID bypass program that most of us use is the one that needs to be redone with every flash. I don't mind though. As littleclown was saying above, it only takes a few seconds to run the bypass and your phone is "flash-able" again.

[Q] Gio doesn't prompt for unlock code

I flashed the cm9 and my phone shows no service and doesn't prompt for unlock code. all the others rom i had asked me to imput, but not cm9, so now i can't make calls/text.
btw i have the code, i dont know how to input as it doesnt prompt for one like usual
anyway to fix this or manually put in unlock code?
Do wipe
tried that, didnt work :/
This may be stupid question, but is airplane mode turned on?
Sent from my HTC Optimus Ray S
Most custom roms do not have the ability to perform this operation. The only way to unlock is to use odin to flash back to a stock ROM. I havent been able to unlock my phone either for this very reason.
Did you put in the sim card that you want to unlock?
I came up with this untested idea a few weeks ago, that would allow an unlock on a phone running AOSP/CM...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23488092&postcount=12
thank you all, but didnt work so far, maybe because i have the canadian version (5660M) :/
Then you would be not able to use bluetooth, Wi-Fi and screen rotation, because of different drivers. But the rest should work just fine...
bump, any way to make phone ask for unlock code? i really want to use ics on my gio, but sim not working is a dealbreaker for me :/

Did you try darkshado's method? Cause other than that it is IMPOSSIBLE to do. Sorry.
Oh and instead of making a new thread, i have my own question. I know you only have a limited number of sim unlock attempts. Lets say 3 just cause. If i input the correct unlock code, does it count as an attempt? or do only the wrong numbers count as attempts?

from my experience, i believe it doesn't count as an attempt when you get it correct, its like unlocking your phone with pattern/pin, it only counts the wrong ones, and once you unlock it, the attempt meter restarts
Wait,
Does this mean that if you're phone was previously sim-unlocked, it gets
re-locked when you flash CM9 ??
That would be a real bummer. I sim-unlocked my phone using the BML5 method
and flash a couple of stock roms using Odin, and never got the question for an unlock code again.
Do all custom roms re-lock your phone ??
Sorry for hijacking your topic. Hope you figure it out.

Hi , is your phone sim locked or do you have a pin code on your simcard ? if the pin is on your simcard then the solution is to flash a stock rom and disable the simcard lock then flash a custom rom , I had the same issue with my HTC wildfire a couple of years ago

[Q] Carrier Unlock Question

Hello. recently I read on a section of the HTC One X forum that if you want to unlock the carrier of a HOX and you have a custom ROM flashed and bootloader unlocked you need to lock back the bootloader and flash a stock ROM. Is it true, or can unlock it with the custom rom flashed?
You can`t disable the carrier lock without s-off.
Thanks for the answer. So there is no way someone could unlock the carrier if i have S-on?
No, sorry....
There is no way without S-OFF.
You can unlock your carrier to allow different network Sims, just google "HTC one x carrier unlock".
It's not possible to change your cid without s-off

Here comes the problem.. I know that cellunlocker.net is trusted when comes to unlock codes and i got my code yesterday. I was on Custom ROm with bootloader unlocked. When i enter the code it says it's incorect so that's why i need to know if i need to relock the bootloader and go on stock rom?
I had the same situation.HTC locked device with the code you can find on websites but then your carrier changed unlock codes, and the one you bought from site is incorrect.
I asked my carrier to tell\sell me the code but they dont want to untill the warranty is over. You can ask your carrier also,it doesnt cost you anything
My local phone repair service tell me that only solution for me is to take apart phone and read codes directly from motherboard but then i will lose warranty, which is ok for me,i already unlocked bootloader and root my hox
Just relocked and flashed stock rom. I will contact the carrier and try to get the code. Thanks for the help.

ViperX or Custom rom install on htc one x with carrier lock

Hi there guys, im sorry if this is already asked, i have been searching but my english is not great and i havent found anything regarding this matter, i have an htc one x international version, it is locked by carrier, my carrier, i am wondering, if i install a custom rom like viperx, wich is the one i want, will i have any problem regarding the fact that it is lock by my carrier? i do have the sim of the carrier coz i use it, but i dont want to mess up, thank you all in advance!
Yes you can use it, the only thing you might lose is the phones warranty because you have to unlock the bootloader.
Thanks

Thank you very much for the fast answer!. I really dont mind about the warranty issue, but one question though, if you go back to stock they can tell you unlocked the bootloader before? i mean even if u lock it again? thanks so much, very noob here with htc haha
Yes your bootloader is now locked, when you unlock it says ... Hahah unlocked ! And when you re-lock it again ... It's says .......
Relocked !
It will never go back to locked.
Ow and please make a nandroid backup from your stock rom after unlocking the bootloader and flashing the custom recovery. You will need it when you want to go back to stock. And copy it to a safe place !

Can i lock the bootloader after installing a custom rom?

i was wondering if i unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom rom i`m not willing to change soon, can i lock the bootloader again while i have this rom?

Certainly you can if you are prepared for a bricked device later. I mean, it is not advisable to lock the bootloader if you have a custom ROM since any issues arise later, you will not be able to solve them. In addition, even if you manage to unlock the bootloader again in such a scenario, you will lose all your data including files, photos, videos etc.
If you properly sign the firmware, you don't even have to unlock the bootloader, see https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/guide-custom-kernels-roms-recoveries-t3572525
