Hello. recently I read on a section of the HTC One X forum that if you want to unlock the carrier of a HOX and you have a custom ROM flashed and bootloader unlocked you need to lock back the bootloader and flash a stock ROM. Is it true, or can unlock it with the custom rom flashed?
You can`t disable the carrier lock without s-off.
Thanks for the answer. So there is no way someone could unlock the carrier if i have S-on?
No, sorry....
There is no way without S-OFF.
You can unlock your carrier to allow different network Sims, just google "HTC one x carrier unlock".
It's not possible to change your cid without s-off

Here comes the problem.. I know that cellunlocker.net is trusted when comes to unlock codes and i got my code yesterday. I was on Custom ROm with bootloader unlocked. When i enter the code it says it's incorect so that's why i need to know if i need to relock the bootloader and go on stock rom?
I had the same situation.HTC locked device with the code you can find on websites but then your carrier changed unlock codes, and the one you bought from site is incorrect.
I asked my carrier to tell\sell me the code but they dont want to untill the warranty is over. You can ask your carrier also,it doesnt cost you anything
My local phone repair service tell me that only solution for me is to take apart phone and read codes directly from motherboard but then i will lose warranty, which is ok for me,i already unlocked bootloader and root my hox
Just relocked and flashed stock rom. I will contact the carrier and try to get the code. Thanks for the help.

hey guys, ive been reading a few places and read that you need to unlock the Bootloader to unlock the phone, is that true or can you unlock it using a Code? I plan to buy this phone soon and would probably end up using overseas hence the questions. Thanks
What do you mean by unlock the phone?
If you mean to root it, then no, you do not have to unlock the boot loader.
If on the other hand you mean unlock a phone from a specific carrier, then I truly do not know... bought my own phone carrier free.
[EDIT]
And now I saw that you will be using it while traveling overseas, so I suppose you mean unlock the phone from a specific carrier
[/EDIT]

The only way to unlock a usa phone (verizon or att) right now its through Alejandrissimo over in the general forums (I think...)
I don't know if once you unlock the bootloader it can change carriers...

In my case I sim unlock my phone w/o unlocking my bootloader. I dunno in r800x & r800at.. But as pax said, you can try to contact Blagus or Alejandrissimo.
You can both sim unlock without unlocking the bootloader (with a code you can buy online) or unlock both Sim and bootloader at the same time thanks to Alejandrissimo.
I went to see if my bootloader can be unlocked from the sony website.
I followed the instructions by putting that code into my phone dailer.
Under the section if it says my bootloader can be unlocked, it says no.
Does this mean I CANT use custom roms?
Is there no other way to unlock the bootloader?
You can always unlock the bootloader, it's just a matter if it's free or not. It all goes back to whether you can use fastboot or not ( the tool used to flash kernels). If you bought your phone sim unlocked it more than likely means fastboot is enabled and you can unlock for free through sonys tool and be on your way to flashing custom kernels. If your phone is sim locked or you paid to get the sim unlocked by a code then fastboot will be disabled. So to rephrase: turn your phone off, hold the search button and plug it in to your computer, if the status light goes blue (and you're not on a CDMA one, r800x) then fastboot is enabled and you can unlock for free through sonys utility, otherwise you're going to have to use a pay service like this (~$24):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322827
And to answer your question, yes and no, while it's not possible to flash ROMs that use a custom kernel like cyanogenmod without an unlocked bootloader you CAN flash stock based ROMs through the recovery made for locked bootloaders.
I have an R800A from Rogers.
The LED doesn't go on at all when I press the search button.
When I goto sony's website, I go into the phone settings, where it says if the bootloader can be unlocked, it says NO.
You mentioned a paid servers. Is unlocking the phone by allowing it on another network the same as unlocking the boot loader?
No, that's sim unlocking. Confusingly a bootloader unlock will actually sim unlock you as well though, the difference between the two is a sim unlock is a code and the bootloader unlock is done through test points. So ya, if you didn't get the blue light your only option for unlocking is a paid service, sorry.
Well actually an unlocked bootloader allows booting of custom(unsigned) kernel images and can be achieved with various means according to the situation.

Which is what I said in my above post... And the only ways to unlock it are:
- Through sony's online tool if fastboot is enabled and you have an IMEI (sorry CDMAs)
- Or a test point unlock, such as setool2 or omnius, which will enable fastboot
Oh ok sry then, thought u were being general.

this is not the AT&T HTC One X forum
same question - how to unlock from carrier htc one X+ ?
can it be done by finding unlock code on the phone itself?

you can't, you need s-off to unbrand the phone....
matt you are not getting it...
there is a carrier lock (if you put other sim it wont register in the network) and "branding" which is just software that can be reflashed after s-off
i am talking about the carrier lock - how to remove it ? or only option is to buy unlock code?
At the moment the only way is to purchase. Got my code for about $6 on eBay.

I have no problem buying unlock key, just want to make sure it's unlock-able before buying it...
http://www.cellunlocker.net/
and, after it's unlock, I just have to unlock also BootLoader from htcdev.com and it's voila!?
Thank you.
See if Bump helps!

This is the endeavour One x (quad-core) i believe you are looking for the AT&T one x forum which is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1548
As previous guy said you want the other forum for the at&t one x.
Sim unlock and bootloader unlock are completely different things.
Sim unlock will allow you to put a Sim card of a different carrier in.
Bootloader unlock will allow you to install custom ROMs.
If you just want to use a different carrier sim then there is no need to unlock your bootloader through htcdev

Oh my bad lol...
Yah, I'm talking both unlocks, so I can use custom rom
Thanx guys, I'll ask again there~~
Simple question but can't really find the answer online.
Bought an H815, no carrier label etc. My ATT sim works in it.
I want to unlock the bootloader (OEM process) root, add TWRP and flash custom ROMS. Will this affect the factory unlocked carrier status?
How is it carrier unlocked btw , at the hardware level or bios type process? I see the H815 comes factory carrier unlocked?
tia
Assuming your phone was purchased sim free, then no, bootloader unlock shouldn't affect it. You can always make a backup with SALT first (bootloader can be locked when you take the backup) so if for whatever reason it does get removed then you can restore it.
Btw, LG's don't support fastboot oem unlock. You need to do it via Official LG bootloader unlock website or UsU (look here in the threads) if your device isn't supported officially - if it is an EU H815 it official should work though.
fr eBay sim free. I'll look into the SALT backup.
I did a bit of work already and signed up as an LG dev and do see the LG website process which I was going to do to start.
So then adding TWRP and a custom rom will not affected the carrier unlock as well?
thanks
