Is there anybody else who is not able to play video on new Mildwild v.2.5? I tried latest MX Video player, Vplayer, Mobo player, but no success. I also went back to Mildwild 2.1 and there is no problem to watch video with at least MX video player.
It looks like the only problem I have with this ROM so far.
Many thanks.
Checked the Rom thread for this problem?
Yes, I did, but didn´t find anything about video issue. Also to be sure that my Desire doesn´t have any hardware issue I flashed last available nightly CM 262 and with this ROM and MX player worked without problems. Fortunatelly I had backup of Mildwild 2.1, so I had to go back to this older version and MX video player works for me fine.

Hi people!
Any ideas on why AOSP ROMs do not play .avi files? I tried MIUI, Gingervillain and I'm now on Oxygen and can't play the above mentioned format with any player.
So far tried Rock player, MX video player, Mobo Player.
The Files I've tried was one movie file and one I have recorded some years ago.
First, I tought it must be te resolution, but it's well beyond 720p (720*576 and 640*480).
Any ideas?
I don't think it's limited to aosp roms, My stock htc sense rom never played avi files. But try qqplayer from market, from memory I think it plays avi

Yes, that's the problem.
Every Sense-based custom ROM (InsertCoin, RCMix, Coolexe's ROMs) plays those files I mentioned above - and even from gallery, so no 3rd party player needed. On AOSP ROMs I cannot play them at all.
Ah ok, try the qqplayer or stick with sense til they get it sorted

QQplayer latest version did the trick - strange but it did not work before.
Thanks!

Strange... just tested playing my avi files with mobo player (newest and armv7 codec installed) on oxygen 2.2.2. Worked without any problem.
Maybe you have to install armv7 codec for mobo player (can be found over android market) to get avi files working with mobo player. I assume you did not do it because you do not mention it.

I was using the same player with the correct codecs installed - just like you said.
But it did not work, maybe strange .avi files, but now qqplayer plays quite everything.
I'm also using QQPlayer... while desperately waiting for the 'messiah': the VLC for Android.

Rock Player on Oxygen 2.2.2 plays .avi files for me no problem.
So I've been searching for about a day now for a solution to this problem. I've been trying to play MKV files on my phone, but every single player i've tried (mobo, mx, rock, vlc nightly, bs, dice, and vplayer) have been really stuttery and the audio desyncs massively.
It seems that most people are able to play MKVs but for some reason I can not get it to play smoothly at all.
Has anyone come across this and know a solution?
(the file I'm trying to play is a 720p h264 mkv with aac audio. I would put up all the file information if I knew how, so I can if someone shows me)
I'm really sorry if there is an answer to this somewhere, but I tried a search here and only got a thread talking about how everyone can play MKVs smoothly
Are you running a stock Rom or one of the aokp or cm roms? With stock I haven't had an issue with any mkv even on my previous sgs and sgs2. Are all mkvs having problems or is it just the one ?

dude i can stream mkvs without problem
mx player by turning the software decoding on in settings
or vlc player beta
It seems like it only happens on 10bit MKVs. MX Player is the best with software decoding but there are still some dropped frames. I saw a video of someone playing 10bit perfectly fine and a thread saying the S3 can handle 10bit so I'm not exactly sure whats wrong.
I'm running TuchMi 5.0 so I might try to go back to full stock just to see if that helps.
I would try the VLC beta but US can't get it from the play store and the nightly crashes constantly for me.
EDIT: full wipe didn't help
make sure you got the 1.7 update, for me the audio would get out of sync on any anime but with H/W+ that is now solved and i got back DTS thanks to custom codecs.
Software is horrible for me it plays fine, but everything gets artifacts and colored blocks etc. At first i though it was the device that god it wasn't
I have 1.7. H/W+ works for you? it keeps telling me that I can't play the video with it. Can you give an example of and episode that works for you?
Actually I'm curious about this too. Just tried to stream Planet Earth from my PC and I had huge lag because if you are streaming on MKV it uses software decoding...
To be fair I might have to push up my VSEL values...but I really doubt that's the case. Another thing I'm going to try is PS3media server which TRANSCODES (meaning your computer does the coding) for all media files...so it is streaming everything converted for your phone. The annoying thing about it though is that it won't automatically start with my computer
A third alternative is to setup a vlc media player server.
After installing CM10 MX Player no longer plays the avi files I have. MX previously played these files fine in stock Sense, Vplayer will play the files but sluggishly so it isn't the files.
Could it have anything to do with the imagesense chip HTC use?

Same thing happening on aokp jellybean mxplayer won't play some files. Probably an mxplayer isue
Troubles with sound
Confirming... Probably all ROMs based on CM10 such as MIUI clons, JB derivates, etc., doesn't contain some audio codec. Video plays fine but without sound.
Hey everyone, I'm running modpunk's cm 9 alpha 9 on my wildfire s. When I try to play videos(flv or mp4) using the MX video player the audio of the video usually go out of sync with the video. Then there won't be any sound for a while and then the audio comes back but still out of sync. I have to replay it again to make the audio in sync. But after a few seconds it would be out of sync again. I didnt have this problem on the gingerbread htc rom. The audio goes faster than the video and its very annoying! I use the MX Player Codec (ARMv6 VFP). Any help is appreciated!
Hey there. I had the same problem with many roms on wfs, and it seems that the video is the one that's is being slowed down (like slow motion). Then, the audio stops, until the video reaches the same point and they both start together again.
First, I'd say check the mode you use with MX player (s/w, h/w, h/w+). I remember that h/w+ mode wasn't working even on the stock rom. If it doesn't work with any mode of them, I'd say it's due to the adreno libs problem, but hasn't modpunk merged them in his alpha 9 version? I can't remember..
I was using stock Sense before and I had the same problem. I tried using Moboplayer, then the audio did not disappear anymore.
Now I use Jellyking 2.0, I try to use Moboplayer and it doesn't show the video anymore, only the sound. :/
Hi guys,
I just installed CarbonRom on my note 2. The ROM works flawlessly but I can't get video playback to run smoothly as it did on the stock video player. Have tried with Player and Dice player. Anything else I should try?
