MX Player Issue with CM10 - HTC One X

After installing CM10 MX Player no longer plays the avi files I have. MX previously played these files fine in stock Sense, Vplayer will play the files but sluggishly so it isn't the files.
Could it have anything to do with the imagesense chip HTC use?

Same thing happening on aokp jellybean mxplayer won't play some files. Probably an mxplayer isue

Troubles with sound
Confirming... Probably all ROMs based on CM10 such as MIUI clons, JB derivates, etc., doesn't contain some audio codec. Video plays fine but without sound.

[Q] play 720p .mp4 video on MIUI 1.6.17 HTC Desire

Hi all,
I recently rooted my HTC Desire from stock HTC Sense with Froyo to 1.6.17-MIUI-XJ with android 2.3.4. Has been a great update and I am very happy with the result.
Just have one issue. My phone with HTC sense + Froyo played 720p .mp4 files downloaded from youtube without a hitch. Infact I used the stock video player to play the videos.
Ever since I have rooted the phone, I am unable to play any of the 720p videos with the stock MIUI player and even with "Summer Player" the videos stutter badly and there is a considerable lag between audio and video. How do i solve this issue...
Thanks,
Shilp
you can try the mobo player, and i think there may be some problems of video playback with Gingerbread, because i have the same issue of you.
Try rockplayer:

Hi,
Thanks but none of these players seem to help...Is it because my phone does not have the latest codecs or some issue like that?...Can i get the complete list of codecs from somewhere...
Thanks...
As I know the players have their own codecs, But I might be wrong, have you tested the demo version of vPlayer ? It read almost every thing even .flv files
aah ok, I havent tried that player yet...Will try it soon...thanks
I am still unable to find a good video player for MIUI on My I9000....:-(
I use mobo player from the market ..it is the best player and it will play ur file.
But if it doesn't then enable soft decoding in the mobo players menu then it will play
The player can play avi. Mkv. Mp4 3gp and basically all other filettypes as it has the soft decoding option

try diceplayer v1.5.3
diceplayer can use HW video decoder at any containers and audio codecs.
it can play MKV(H.264+DTS,Flac) , MOV(H.264,AAC) , MTS(H.264,AC3) with Full HW video decoding.

[Q] Why AOSP ROMs do not play .avi files?

Hi people!
Any ideas on why AOSP ROMs do not play .avi files? I tried MIUI, Gingervillain and I'm now on Oxygen and can't play the above mentioned format with any player.
So far tried Rock player, MX video player, Mobo Player.
The Files I've tried was one movie file and one I have recorded some years ago.
First, I tought it must be te resolution, but it's well beyond 720p (720*576 and 640*480).
Any ideas?
I don't think it's limited to aosp roms, My stock htc sense rom never played avi files. But try qqplayer from market, from memory I think it plays avi

Yes, that's the problem.
Every Sense-based custom ROM (InsertCoin, RCMix, Coolexe's ROMs) plays those files I mentioned above - and even from gallery, so no 3rd party player needed. On AOSP ROMs I cannot play them at all.
Ah ok, try the qqplayer or stick with sense til they get it sorted

QQplayer latest version did the trick - strange but it did not work before.
Thanks!

Strange... just tested playing my avi files with mobo player (newest and armv7 codec installed) on oxygen 2.2.2. Worked without any problem.
Maybe you have to install armv7 codec for mobo player (can be found over android market) to get avi files working with mobo player. I assume you did not do it because you do not mention it.

I was using the same player with the correct codecs installed - just like you said.
But it did not work, maybe strange .avi files, but now qqplayer plays quite everything.
I'm also using QQPlayer... while desperately waiting for the 'messiah': the VLC for Android.

Rock Player on Oxygen 2.2.2 plays .avi files for me no problem.

Suggest: Video Player App

Can someone suggest me a nice video player app. I'm using rock player atm but it gives a lot of issues playing 1080p mp4 and 480p mkv files. The audio and video are completely out of sync. Any solutions for this??
DicePlayer
Try Playerpro. One of the best, both when it comes to music and video. I used to have two separate players for music and video, but not anymore
Moboplayer

Vplayer is good, but the problem with that is only stock Samsung Video Player supports hardware acceleration. Others don't.

Thats not true.
MX Player, Diceplayer, VPlayer (just to name a few) do HW decoding as well.
IMO these 3rd Party Players are pretty similar, atm Im going with MX
mVideopPlayer or Mobo

ICS / cm9 video playing

Quick question for you gentlemen regarding video playback. I have some 720p mkv files on my media server and am having issues playing them back on any ics rom. They play perfect on nearly any player on touchwiz and flawless on vplayer in hardware mode on cm7. Anyone have any ideas on what I could do for cm9 to have the same playing capability? I hate touchwiz but the camera and video work flawless on it and seems like it may be the best bet for me atm.
have u tried flashing some of the other kernels?

That won't matter

As marc said it doesn't matter but yes I have since I like to play with most major roms and kernels released. About to test miui b1 in a bit but I doubt it'll make any difference still I was just hoping a dev had some insight on this.
does cm9 not do hw decoding?
the option is greyed out on mine
on vplayer it allows the option and seems like it tries. mx player not so much. not having much luck with vlc either.
That's weird because they work fine over here on mx player.. did you search mkv video player in the market
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA
well again ill say I've tried mx player (with codec packs and without(, the latest vlc nightly, and I own the pro version of vplayer. I tried with vplayers old codec packs and its built in. hw displays 0 picture with vplayer and stutters heavily on vplayer. the isn't that it can't play the file, the issue is it doesn't play it as it does on cm7 and tw. these are 720p video files with fast action. and not anime stuff.
vplayer works great on cm7 but doesn't play in hw mode on cm9. the stock video player on tw works best, but vplayer also works on tw pretty well too. mx is lame sauce.
i get a no picture on vplayer also
the video im using doesnt have any weird encoding options either; its just a video i downloaded off of youtube, so pretty standard
is this just a bug with cm9? maybe it needs to be reported. i dont see anyone mention it in the tracker

[Q] Video player for JB

Does anyone know a video player that can play 720p mkv videos for jelly bean? I used to use Mx Player but it's not updated for JB. I've tried Mobo player/Vplayer.
Try dice player. It also does real hardware decode something most of the ffmpeg based players do not do.

Thanks, but it force closes. Oh well I'll just demux the mkv files.
Edit: Oh well I found how to multiplex quickly. (Using MKV extractor, then mp4 muxer). Takes about 20 seconds to multiplex into mp4.
Try updating MX Player. It wasnt working for me earlier, and I just did the update and it works for me.
video player for jelly bean
Actually ilike mx player but performance is suck on jb with mkv file..try BSPlayer..working flawless with 1080p mkv file
I use MX video player on my Nexus "Jelly Bean", there should be VLC media player beta for Android which maybe works too, RealPlayer beta works too but it cannot play mkv, avi, etc. :/
Not sure if it'll do it, but they released VLC for Android not long ago. Not sure if it's downloadable from the play store, but you can download it from XDA and sideload it.

I downloaded VLC player beta (neon) from Play store and it works fine, now I don't have to use MX player anymore where I need to change playing settings sometimes to play videos.. :d
