Is anyone having a issue with the phone not locking back after screen is shut off. It also randomly turns the screen back on. If you have a quick solution that would be great. Also im rooted (Android Revolution/w faux kernal) if that makes a difference.
I know nothing about rooting - but maybe when you rooted your phone, it "forgot" the setting for screen lock?
Check Settings/Security/Automatically lock[3rd option down]
It should read "Immediately after sleep"
Barring that it could be a problem with the ROM?
Sorry if not much help, hope ya get it sorted out.

I recently downgraded the software on my HD and found that after every couple of seconds the phone vibrates. I origionall thought this was because of downgrading the sofotware and hence there may software compatibility issues.
I have since gone through vissioninary S OFF, eng off and installed leedriod ROM.
I am still getting the erritating vibrations after every couple of seconds and would like to know if any one has come acrodd this issue for the desire HD and whether thee is a fix for it.
any hep would be appriciated
Even I am facing this problem before update and after update. I think when its low no memory it vibrate

I was experiencing this. after turning off the screen and pocketing the phone it would vibrate randomly. But since turning off haptic feedback I havent had it happen in months. On either 1.34 or 1.72. give it a try
I have about 7gb remaining on my microsd and 1gb on internal memory

Perhaps remove the battery and place it back then turn the phone back ON and finally disable Vibrate Feedback in Sound Settings.
dmanbwxe
how do you turn this feature off?
redlinux
tried the battery removal option but no difference
I turned all settings relating to viberation off but to no avail.
I have even remove leeroid and downgreaded to version 1.3
My next option was to fin virgin branded rom and reinstall that
Settings - Sound - Scroll to the bottom where it says feedback and un check 'vibrate feedback when I press on screen buttons'
I disable all 4 check boxes in feedback but pretty sure once you've un checked the last box you wont get that annoying random vibrate thing
dmanbwxe
I have unselected all options as mentioned in your previous post but to no use.
The phon vibrates without me touching it say every 10 seconds
Bad times. worked for me. Prob gunna have to do a re install of your rom and see if that helps. pain in the ass but so is the vibrate thing. If I hear of any other solutions I'll let you know
what i have also noticed is, if I switch the phone off, it cntinues to vibrate and comes back on (to clockwork recovery)
do i have an options or am, i screwed!!!
Can anyone help with this?
I rooted my brother's slide a while back and installed a stock froyo based rom (I'm not sure which one). He had been having some minor issues with his phone (no big deal) and I had been planning to switch him over to cyanogenmod, but this morning his screen would not go to sleep no matter what he did. It just wakes up immediately. He suspects that the device is registering a push on the optical trackpad, because when he tried to restart the phone, it auto selects and sometimes confirms options for him in the popup menu. The trackpad wake seems to be preventing the phone from sleeping, but it could also be something else.
I thought the best course of action would be to install CM6 (he had the older clockwork recovery so I thought i'd put the stable 6.1 on there to walk him through the steps while I wasn't physically present to mess with his phone). The installation went perfectly, but the problem is persisting. If i'm not mistaken, cm6 comes with a custom kernel of its own so that's probably not the issue. Also, for some reason, when his phone wakes up after attempting to be locked, it now briefly shows the lock screen and jumps ahead to the recent apps screen (as if the home button has been long pressed).
This problem is baffling us. If any of you have any ideas what might be wrong I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys.
EDIT: I thought it would be worth mentioning that in recovery, the trackpad function seems to be normal (according to him). He's several hundred miles away from me at the moment so I haven't seen the issue up close myself.
Alright, so here is what's going on.
I had my alarm go off earlier today, got up, unplugged my phone like normal. I swiped off the notifications I didn't care about like a tapatalk message etc. I noticed that Google Current's automatically updated. I'm sure that's no huge deal.
I locked the screen and went about my day. I tried to swipe to unlock, and the phone freezes and reboots. The phone is responsive until you unlock it, then it just freezes and reboots.
Tried safe mode once, and it worked fine. I then turned it off, and tried normally booting again, same freezing and rebooting. So I went to go back to safe mode, and now safe mode is doing the same thing, which means that a factory reset is now out of the question.
What the hell man.
Specs:
- Samsung Galaxy Nexus
- All stock apps except added Facebook and Tapatalk
- Jellybean 4.2.2 software I believe. I'd double check if I could.
- Still locked and unrooted
Any ideas on where to go from here? No warranty, so any ideas would help
It turns on, goes to lock screen. Then freezes when I try to get anywhere from that lock screen. Even on safe mode.
Then it will reboot automatically after about 30 seconds.
I should note I received a text in this time, and thought maybe just pulling the notification bar down and going straight to the text would work. The notification bar works, but when I hit the text, it froze the same way.
This must be some sort of self check or some Android process crashing. But I can't utilize safe mode to fix it.
Any ideas on what to do? I know there are threads with this problem, but this involves an unrooted phone, of which I have seen no threads, or threads with answers. I am not experienced with getting too far into Android, so just a direction to go, or something to try when I get home would be awesome. (At work currently)
The only options I have right now are the options upon booting with the volume down, which are Start - Restart bootloader - Recovery Mode and Turn off. In this screen, here is my info:
FASTBOOT MODE
PRODUCT NAME - tuna
VARIANT - maguro 16GB
HW VERSION - 9
BOOTLOADER VERSION - PRIMELA03
BASEBAND VERSION I9250UGLL1
CARRIER INFO - NONE
SERIAL NUMBER - xxxxxxx
SIGNING - production
LOCK STATE - LOCKED
In recovery mode, I see a dead android guy with a red triangle and an exclamation mark in it.
I realize you guys probably get a lot of dumb questions so I tried unloading all the information I could. My replies will be 5 minutes apart, as I'm new and I see that's a restriction on being here.
Thanks in advance
You can try unlock the bootloader (it'll erase your data so be careful) and then try flashing the oficial google image via fastboot and see if it solves it.
EDIT: in that screen of red triangle press up and power at the same time to show the options. There you can do a factory reset to see if it solves it. No need to unlock the bootloader that way.

Got it. It works now, but curious, is this a common occurrance? I have no idea what caused it, which worries me. But it seems to be working fine.
Wasn't worried about data loss, I haven't had the phone for too long yet. I plan on just installing the minimum apps. The point of me not unlocking it was to avoid issues, but I had more luck with unlocking it than leaving it locked.
That said, I wasn't aware you had to hold the vol up and power button to get to the options from the dead Android screen. That was an oversight on my part when I was looking up for data.
Words cannot explain how thankful I am, so thank you

No problem everything should work as intended now. What happened was a bit strange indeed. It it happens again with everything in stock then there is a possibility that it is faulty hardware and you should replace it. Maybe it was some configuration bug and nothing extreme

Fauly hardware can cause this issue? I baby this phone, has yet to be dropped (let's admit, it's inevitable), the only thing it's seen is three drops of water that fell off my sunroof onto it. I immediately grabbed my phone and wiped it off, but it was all on the screen, not in the speaker or anything.
Either way, I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks again

Yes. My phone recently was stuck on a bootloop and I've already sent it for repair. Yeah drops are never good
No problem
Hi i have this supper anoying problem after 5.0.2 update! So basicaly What it does is when ever i will pick up the phone it would turn off like the screen would dim (not rebbot or shut down) and after a little tapping on a screen it would turn on again and sometimes when it does that it would glitch a little. While typing this it happened twice its sooooo anoying idk what to do now if i wont find any solutions i will just buy samsung galaxy or something like that. Also my carrier is Virgin Mobile thanks
Same problem, same phone.
Definitely annoying! Seems random but especially while rotating for me. I have not been able to dig up any solutions thus far.
Check out your proximity sensor settings in the HTC testing app, or try Gravity screen. Mine did the same thing a couple times, also clean off your screen at the very top left, if you look real good you can see the sensor just under the front camera hole in the glass, also sometimes a screen saver will mess with this sensor. One more thing is the stock lock screen can cause an issue similar to what you are talking about, hope one of these help yo out, cane0716

hi
thanks for information i already gave that phone to my friend and i think he fixed it by actually having different lock screen i currently have samsung galaxy s5 its wayyyy better lol
Phone turns off during use and will not complete boot unless plugged to charger even when the battery is almost full.
This error started last night after I did factory reset because of observed phone lag. I did mistakenly "wiped internal storage" but got the alert of "no OS during reboot", so I restored from my backup from SD.
the phone started properly but went off during initial setup and will go back off each time I tried turning it back on. I thought it was battery so I plugged it to power.
it did boot but will go back off once I have few touches on the screen.
I had to leave it plugged to setup my accounts else it will go off.
I'm using its Wi-Fi to send this message via my PC because any 2 - 3 touches will switch the phone off.
once it does that, it won’t even boot to bootloader before it goes off again unless plugged to power.
what I do to solve this please??
Just got my H7x Saturday and am blowin away that a phone this nice can be had for under $200usd.
Anyways, Whenever I have the phone connected to the power-cord(charging) the screen won't turn off. I'll wait for the 60sec I have it set to, fade, the screen turns off, and then right back on immediately. Does the same when connected to USB on a windows computer. Charging only, file transfer etc. does it no matter the mode.
Any input with help would be greatly appreciated... Thank you

This setting is normally defaulted to off, but check the development option "stay awake"
No, it's set to off. But good call.
It seems like the screen saver would make it do this too. I just noticed that everytime the screen comes on, it's a different picture. However, settings>display>screen saver is off.
Just figured it out.
Under settings>Apps and notif...>notification and status bar> I had 'notifications turn on screen' turned on. That's what was causing it. Strange...
Can anyone else test for this?

Most users are on roms right now, I suggest you do he same.
And, no need for other people to test for this, you fixed the problem.

I guess I could root and rom. I am just so impressed with the battery on the stock rom I was going to try and keep it as long as I can.
What ROM do you suggest?
And I didn't fix the issue. Just turned it off... Its still an issue for people who want thier screen to turn on when they get notifacations.
Thanks for the help!

Openkirin roms are good, but the support chat in telegram is a bit toxic...
Also, any hi6250 rom will work well, like with the p8 lite 2017; roms there work on the honor 7x too, i've tested.
