Im looking for a app or mod that will turn on my screen when a text comes in. From there allowing me to view the message, name of sender and when I touch it, bringing me to that message to reply.
Much like the iPhone.

Check out the app called SMS Pop up from the Android Market.
Handcent SMS also does this quite well

Is this that ANNOYING app that causes a popup bar to show up on your screen for new SMS even if you turned notifications OFF?
Not sure mate. I was told it displays missed calls, unread text etc on lock screen but it did nothing for me.
It was running it was running in the background, but no notifications anywhere so I deleted it.
I get notifications for sms, don't know about calls.
But shouldn't it also display messages from Facebook?

If you do this, wouldn't you NOT getting fb notifications?
You can set the refresh rate to never and activate push notifications by activating vibration alert.
Still I didn't get a message on the lockscreen when I have a new message in Facebook!
My text msg are not in order anymore. They are seperated sender and reciever. Any help with this problem? Thanks

What Rom are you on?
If your on a sense based Rom, go to your messages, press menu, settings, general, click conversation mode. Hope this helps.

And that's why I use GO SMS over the stock message app. Haven't had this problem ever again.

since i use the multiprotocol im client trillian, i dont need facebook to send me notificaations when i get messages, but they only have the option to turn off message notifications temporarily. Is there some fix somewhere?
There is a setting somewhere in Facebook that lets you turn off text notifications completely

I would love to know if there is a solution to this too. They only allow you to turn off message notifications for 1 hour, or until 08:00 - they clearly think that message notifications should be essential for everyone.

Not from the phone, but a pc, you have more notification control that you can pick and choose notifications. Account > settings..

i have since found a solution, the third arty facebook app friendscaster allows me to do just this. Thanks for the feedback though people
If I send out too many messages in a short amount of time, I get a pop up telling if I should allow the messaging app to continue sending. But it repeats the question with every text. I know it's a google malware security feature, but it's super annoying. Anyway to turn it off?
