Hi there,
I have a SLCD Desire with Hboot 0.93 which I have rooted with unrEVOked (v3.32). Seemed to go through fine, then proceeded to install ROM Manager which updated clockworkmod recovery to a higher version. I then reinstalled the original 2.5.0.7 recovery. Have put the ICS rom on the device and tried to install and seems to go through fine but when I reboot the device appears to be on the stock rom (2.2) but with superuser permissions installed. The device is branded on T-Mobile so has their start up screen etc.
I wiped the SD card so it just has the rom, and updates for it on the card. No android folder etc...
Try to 'Backup Current Rom' using ROM Manager and it says this when i first open it:
E: Can't find MISC:
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E: Can't find MISC:
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E: Can't find MISC:
and this when i go through the options and click backup:
Backing up boot...
Error while dumping boot image!
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E: Can't find MISC:
Have tried to reflash using unrEVOked but it gets stuck at 'running root' every time.
Help?
Many thanks,
Dan.

and is there a solution for macs? just curious.

If the error still appears after you got S-OFF + root by revolutionary, you have to flash a different recovery via fastboot. IMHO 4EXT and RMD are the best ones at the moment.
To flash recovery via fastboot, you have to install ADB / fastboot. In my sig you find a guide for this.

Hi everyone!
After 2 months i decided to root my Desire and install custom ROM.
I have rooted phone using Unrewoked application version 3.32. Everything was done, it has rebooted several times and Desire was rooted.
Now when i enter ClockWorkMod Recovery it shows:
ClockWorkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
When i try to install Oxygen 2.0 using zip file it shows:
Finding update package....
Opening update package...
Installing update...
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img", "boot")
E:error in /sdcard/update-oxygen-2.0-signed.zip
(Status 7)
Installation Aborted.
If i wipe device nothing really happens...
Where is the problem? Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.
Take the battery out and leave your phone off for a few minutes.
Put the battery back in and try it again.
The exact same thing happened to me yesterday and this is how I fixed it!
Edit:
This usually happens because the phone cannot read the SD Card so remove the SD Card and put it back in.
Could be a corrupt SD card, what happens when you boot without an SD card inserted?
I left battery out for arround 5 minutes and it didn't helped. I changed SD card and it didn't helped too.... Well i will try tomorrow again. Thanks anyway
edit: I tried to boot into recovery without SD card and it shows errors too.
If ur desire is a new PVT4 device, the ClockWorkMod 2.5.0.7 doesn't work..U have to use amon ra 2.0.1 or the lathest clockworkmod 3.0.0.5-r3 (second post for downlaod)
To apply ur preferred recovery, u have to run unrevoked again, but before run it select from unrevoked program the *.img file of ur recovery (amon_ra or latest clockwork)
.
.................................
-Download amon ra
-Run unrevoked and from File/Custom recovery select the img file of amon ra
-Just now plug ur device and wait it to apply the new recovery
-Now u can flash the rom u like
Unrevoked allows u to root and also to flash a new recovery. A new recovery is needed for u to flash roms
I hope to have been more clear now

I had this problem initially on my SLCD desire 0.93 hboot.
The reason is that it need a custom root file to loaded through unlocker. This is available through XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9245153
recovery-RA-desire-v1.7.0.1-R5.1-0.93.rar
after this it rooted perfectly

Hey guys,
I've got a problem with my clockworkmod recovery! The last days my DHD began to freeze after unlocking the screen. The only solution was to remove the battery and do a restart. The time of using my phone become shorter and shorter till today I could only unlock my SIM card and then it froze. After that I wanted to flash an update of my firmware Revolution HD.
I got an error:
Flashing boot.img...
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot")
E: Error in /sdcard/Software/Android_Revolution_HD_4G_3.0.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
When I want to restore with an old backup it says:
Erasing boot before restore...
E:format_volume: no MTD partition "boot"
Error while formatting BOOT: !
E: can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Maybe someone got the same error? Or maybe someone has got an idea to solve my problem?!
Thank you guys!
EDIT:
If I want to "wipe cache partition" there's the same error:
E:failed to mount /cache (invalid argument)
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:failed to mount /cache (invalid argument)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:failed to mount /cache (invalid argument)
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log

I have the same exact problem, I am trying to switch ROMs but I want to install CWM 3 over 2.5.1.0. It's giving me the same exact error when I wipe or try to flash anything. No solution yet..
Please inform me if you have a solution....!
I tried to downgrade with this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
But it is without success.
Don't know if it would work to format the cache and flash a new cwm version via fastboot...:-S
No ideas guys?
First we have to know about your S-OFF, do you have Radio S-OFF, ENG S-OFF, SuperCID?
If you have ENG S-OFF, you can try flashing ClockworkMod again in fastboot. I will write you instructions if it comes to that.
If you have Radio S-OFF & SuperCID, we can inject stock ROM into your phone via a PC, or load it from the SD card in bootloader.
Hey jkoljo!
Thank you for helping!
My DHD has permroot, ENG and RADIO S-OFF, HBOOT and SuperCID. A flashed different CWM's. It worked, but the error was the same - with all versions of CWM.
I tried to flash the RUU with this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
The first two steps worked fine:
adb push psneuter /data/local/tmp
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
But in the next line:
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/psneuter
...there is an error. It says "no directory"
Today I have to assert that my sdc failed. With an adapter I put it into my laptop. First of all I backuped the whole card. Formated it and then I wanted to copy just the important files. There was an unkown error and after that I had no access. I formated it again but while copying there was the same error. I want to try flashing the RUU with another sdc, but don't have another one at home.
In which mode should I try to flash it? In the guide you should choose charge only and debugging enabled, but as you know my DHD does not boot!
You do not need to do those psneuter commands etc, just put the PD98IMG.zip into your SD (try to get a working card) and reboot to bootloader.
Doesn't I have to install it via CWM? Just reboot the bootloader?!
Should I copy the *.zip into the root of the sdc for that?
Not in CWM, in the bootloader. And yep, put the PD98IMG.zip into the root of the SD.
Mh...bootloader started the update. But while updating the Radio_v2 it hang up. It was working about an hour but it was frozen. And now I cannot start the phone...
Think there is no other way to send it to the support isnt it? :-S
Pull the battery and try again, if that fails again, try replacing the PD file, with a new copy, it may have gone bad/corrupt along the way, if that fails, I'm stumped. But I'm sure there's more that could be done without having to send it back to HTC.
I cannot switch the phone on. No bootloader, no CWM - just the black screen. It will not work to copy a new PD-File on my sdc. And I'm absolutly sure that the PD-File is not damaged - I downgraded it with the same file some weeks ago :-S
I'm currently in the process of taking my new HTC Desire from 2.2 stock to Cyanogen 7 RC4.
I've got the device rooted using unrevoked3 which has installed ClockworkMod Recovery.
However, when I tell ROM Manager to install Cyanogen, via backup and wipe it boots into Clockwork but then doesn't do anything.
The message at the bottom shows:
Code:
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log

I've done a bit of googling and I can't seem to find anything related to "Arma Recovery".
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hmmm, the unrevoked site says maybe problem with other apps:
The program says “Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?”
If you're on EVO 4G, we've seen this happen with some applications from the market that cause incompatibilities; try uninstalling other apps
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/unrevoked3
Also it might be worth a factory reset:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/249730-unrevoked3-your-firmware-too-new.html
Hope this helps!
In recovery i get this error message: E:Can't open CACHE:recovery/log
Also,
I tried to install a zip from the sdcard and i get this: E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Anyone have any ideas.
I am running WinVista Ultimate x64
tried different recovery?
I don't know any other recovery method.
err what? lol
go to my guide and look at flashing custom recovery. See if problem persists.
move recovery log to sd and manually flash zip.

I have updated my signature, hopefully the rest of the info you need is there, if not let us know. Thanks
Use fastboot to flash new recovery. If you want to know how to this, check bortak's guide. He did not wrote because he was bored.
I managed to find a recovery.img from somewhere and i'm back in recovery mode. But I still have these errors i'm faced with.
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
As soon as this is sorted i can then find out why i can't format or mount the system, i won't be able to re-install my rom otherwise.
Was it really necessary to create another thread with same problem?
Which recovery did you flash?
Please post information from your Hboot! You get there if you turn your phone off, and press and hold first volume down and then power button for a few seconds. It's a white screen with three androids at the bottom and the import information is top left.
I have rooted my htc desire with Unrevoked, and installed clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 recovery. The thing is that the recovery doesn't. It gives me the following errors:
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
The recovery doesn't work at all. ANYTHING I try to do ends up with the errors above. And that's why I can't flash a new recovery image.
Could anyone help me?
Phone spects:
Htc desire
Android 2.2 stock rom
Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7
Hboot 0.93
S-on
How can I fix my recovery?
P.S. If you would like, I could post the whole error log exported from the recovery.

Wipe cache from recovery.
Do you have a PVT 4 device? If that is the case, you need AmonRA or never CWM.
Yeah I had this when I was starting out. PVT-4 device. I just flashed a custom recovery (AmonRA) when I did unrevoked instead of the default one.
LOL, WHY DO YOU OPEN TWO THREADS????
