Yeah man. It looks sexy. I've lately gotten out if MIUI. Ever since Inc HD, I can't seem to get away from sense. AOSP gingerbread is not my game. AOSP ICS is a different story though

I felt that ICS was a disappointment as well when i first started running it. At first it seemed like a gingerbread base with a theme on it, something that i had been doing on CM7 for ages.
However, the more i use it, the more i notice the little things about it. the rotate animation, the tweaked browser, and the overall polish they put into it. I have CM7.2 on my SD card, but i cant ever seem to find a reason to boot into it, despite the missing camera and the occasional wonkiness on ICS
I just wish i had access to a CPU governer with a built in screen-off setting such as smartass.

Incorrect. I am oc'd as normal to 1.3ghz with smartassV2 and uv'd at -25 across with incredicontrol. The only thing that does not work is usbmount, that is easily remedied by using dual-usb mount off the market. Anyone that is having issues with the oc/uv needs to make sure to clear data on their oc/uv apps. The first time you use an OC app it might reboot, after that you can set everything no problem. I had no issues uv'ing at all.
Just so everyone knows, I am using setCPU as my oc app also.

Here are the top six roms in MY opinion that are the best...
1.)StarskyROM (The one nobody talks about, but offers the BEST performance, in exchange for a couple bugs, that absolutely relate nothing to user-experience-quality. Pretty Stock, balls to the wall speed, not bad battery)
2.) LegendaryRom
3.)ACS ICS (Dont think its being updated anymore, Marcusant created MarcusantRom, listed below, which is basically the same thing as ACS ICS)
4.)SleeperRom (Amazing battery life)
5.)MarcusantRom (Incredibly Stable, Fast, Amazing Looks)
6.).....no need to list beyond this point, its all a matter of personal preference.....

I have not had very good luck with the latest Samurai kernels. I get horrendous lag. I believe this was even acknowledged by the developer, unless im mistaken and a new release has become available recently.

What kind of quadrant score do you get with the shadow kernel on stock settings? I'm running starskrom, flashed the shadow kernel, and now I'm getting 250 less of a score on quadrant. I've gerard some people saying they are getting 3000 or more. That not possible without overclocking right?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
That is correct. You need to OC to get that score. Quadrant is crap and can be easily spoofed. It does just some number crunching and a few video routines. The best judge of performance is how it works and feels for you. If you are hung up on whose benchmark is bigger, stick to smartbench 2010.

Kenny is right- to paraphrase, "quadrant size doesn't matter".
Or whatever. I just judge by eye- am I lagging? Sticking? Randomly rebooting? My current setup has been flawless. But I am a charter member of "Flashaholics Anonymous" and CK23 is getting ready to drop Serenity 1.1.1, so I have a feeling a Nand backup and new flash is coming at me.

I have a feeling that we will see more options included for oc/uv in his next release. Kinda think the 1-1-12 rom was just for him to get a perfect base going, now that it's out of the way I'm optimistic that he will start doing his tweaks and bug fixes.
As for different kernel options, pretty sure their are none available, actually I think that the only one building kernels for Inc2 ICS besides the stock CM9 kernel is Aeroevan.
Okay so if I'm stuck on this kernel for a minute, what would the best governor to use? Currently on demand.

Since there's no smartassV2 and no undervolting I would say yeah, that's what I'm using and the battery life isn't bad. Can't wait till he adds smartass and uv though, I was getting almost 2 days off my battery on Protekks christmas beta with smartassV2 and uv -25 across the board.
I've been a long time browser of the XDA-Dev forum for ROMs and tweaks and what not for my Droid Incredible II. Well, I just started working with a company, and they gave me a Droid 4 as a company phone. Since I can use it for personal use as well, I canceled my plan with the DInc. II and am just using my Droid 4.
Essentially, I want to just convert my DInc. II into a multimedia player. I was just curious if there were any good ROMs that focused around Multimedia with some built in tweaks and features (i.e. equalizers, media dock, etc.) for the DInc. II and are still supported?
TL;DR: What are some good multimedia ROMs for the Droid Incredible II?
Cheers!
First, this should be put in the q&a section.
Personally, for music and such, if that's all you're gonna be using it for, I'd try MIUI. It's a small ROM, and gets great battery life. Plus, its music player is really nice.

I'd almost say the MikRom, as sense 3.5 has a really nice music player, and lot's of options.
It's funny that I was just talking about him in the dev HOF thread, but on the og Droid ChevyNo1 and his SimplyStunning roms were the go to for media enhancements, since he was known to put a lot of time into fixing and enhancing the music player. There are no devs like that on the inc2, and it kind of makes me sad.

How can a rom be lighter than it's base? Given, MIUI has always been smooth, but I've never had it out perform AOSP, from OMGB/OMFGB to Pool Party, every stock-ish GB Android rom still blows MIUI out of the water in performance .

The 12.9 MIUI rom is only 80 MB. Add in an aeroevan/tiamat kernel and OC it. Then add PlayerPro ( it gives MIUI the HTC SRS and Dolby options) and AOSP cannot touch it.
Its lighter, smoother, has customizing options, better battery life and has better media playback.

I am talking about Gingerbread, not ICS.
Every android game I play, especially graphics-intensive ones, begin to intermittently freeze up and go to their 'pause' screens between every few seconds or every few minutes (depends on the game). I always need to hit 'resume' to get back into whatever game I'm playing. This has never happened before, even though I'm playing some of the same games I've used since the EI22 Samsung update (and associated custom ROMs).
I've had this error on every ROM I've used since my upgrade to EL30. This includes the completely stock EL30 on BML, RandomRom Thunderhawk IV EL30 on MTD, and the AOSP FC09 on MTD; I've used the same kernel on my phone since January (Shadow 3.0+), but now with it built on EL30. I am running Android 2.3.6 and reluctant to try CM9 or 7 until all kinks have been worked out; I need my phone to always at least be able to work as a phone/text/photo/email/internet/GPS device, and based on the development forums, that's currently far from guaranteed.
I've tried tweaking my CPU governor, completely shutting off overclocking programs, and even using a RAM manager with absolutely no luck.
Does anyone have the same issue, and if you've got a workaround, what is it? Any other kernels or completely reliable ROMs I should try?

cm7 would be nice, but i was under the impression that there were still 'little things here and there' (i think that was the exact quote from one of the reserved posts) that needed fixing. lol i hope that doesn't mean problems with things like 4G connectivity after WiFi switching, video playback etc. I don't have enough posts yet to ask there, even though i've been a lurker for almost a year, so i'm forced to ask here. thanks for replying!

haha, the great marcusant! thanks for replying to my first post. yeah, i'd love to use your nyan colonel, but that'd require me to move to cm9, which i don't see myself doing until it's outta beta. i appreciate all your work, and i noticed i used a ROM (CopyPaste) that apparently was based on MarcusantRom. It was great, except that it would slow up, lock up, and finally freeze up after opening several apps in succession.. or browsing image-heavy websites. sorry :\
thanks also for posting a poll for what we'd like to see fixed in cm9 - once i can actually spare some time to mess around (and once i get past this damn 10-post minimum), i'll try it and add to the responses.

Look for the CM7 version. You can get the CM7 RC from get.cm under epicmtd. Then get Nyan CM7 from the development section. You can also try the v6 supercharger scripts.

blah, should have found it. sorry, i'm busy with another exam week, and haven't been too thorough. thanks!
SUCCESS!! I ended up installing the current EL30 TW Samurai kernel instead of the older one I had on my SD card from a few months back, and boy does it kick ass. It has a higher framerate cap than the shadowkernel, and doesn't freeze up annoyingly during games. I have a feeling that it is because of something called a 'memory deadlock fix' that was included in the samurai version from last month, but not mentioned at all in the shadowkernel. Thanks, everyone, for your input. You guys/gals are great! BTW, I've stuck to qbking's amazingly professional RandomROM and now have absolutely ZERO issues of ANY sort. This includes 4G/WiFi switching, MMS, LED, and even little things like GPS locktimes. It is by far better in every way than stock, too, especially with the keyboard fix. Props to you, qbking - especially for making everything work so well while being a new dad!

I need to update my wife's DInc 2 and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on a stable ROM. I don't have time to try a bunch out for her and am not familiar with the phone. she's not techy, so it needs to work, but stock is a little boring/laggy for her.
the main things she needs to work are camera (both), tether, and pretty decent battery life.
thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Miui v4 or viper. But viper is way too laggy. Heard desenced version of viper is good.

Thanks. I looked at viper a month ago and it looked great, but just like you said, crazy lag when I tried it. That's actually why I'm looking for something new.

Also, would you recommend a kernel with MIUI? I see you're the dev on that one. ; )

If you want stable but don't like stock, I would suggest cm7 (mrom) or the old gingerbread miui (though this may be harder to find unless someone still has it, try rom manager). Ics and jellybean can be iffy since we never got an official release and a proper kernel.

Miui v12.9 is stable with 0.7bfs kernel

Skyraider Zeus is also another stable rom
Condemned CM7.2

I say CM7 (even their latest nightly has a lot of customizations) or Skyraider Zeus (what I am currently running). Although ICS works really well - it has its glitches which could be frustrating for someone who doesn't want to deal with workarounds.
thanks for all the replies! I've got her on miui v4 for now. she likes the miui look and theme options. if she decides she doesn't like it, I'll probably go with cm7.

I'm currently back on Skyraider Zeus, and enjoying the stability and zippy response time, after trying various ICS Roms.
I do miss the HTC trace keyboard and the newer HTC mail app, though.

The gingerbread miui rom with aeroevans .7 kernel is nice as stated above. The only real feature missing that newer gingerbread roms have is swipe to dismiss notifications.

Good topic. After getting bored with Cm 7.2 stable, I'm using de-sensed Viper 1.3.1, but I thinking about trying MROM. This is my work phone and Viper doesn't play nice with the device administrator security settings.
I'll miss ICS, but I won't miss having to enter my password to answer a phone call!

+1 for Skyraider Zeus, got an iPhone and I gave my DI2 to my mom threw Skyraider on it because I didn't want to have to talk her through clearing data to make camera's work and I used it for two days while the new phone was in the mail and forgot why I stopped using it. One of the smoother/fast roms and the battery life is amazing. Easily double what I got on Viper's.

Agree with this. Although I've only tried CM7 because I'm all about battery life and stability. MROM does that and more. The UI is clean and everything is zippy. It really gets the most out of this phone. Who needs ICS or Jellybean when you have a kickass rom like this?

totally agree with you. I've had a droidx for a few years and have stuck with the gb roms the whole way. I've tried all the ics ones, but they all have their issues, even if it's just battery life. every once in awhile I even flash a froyo rom and love it...

MROM
Incredicontrol overclocked to 1.3GHz
Zeppelinrox's V6 Supercharger and Kick Ass Kernelizer scripts
Flawless functionality, battery life, and stability.
Theme it however you want.
Good luck with the phone! It's a good one that is overlooked.
-MROM on DInc2

I have run this rom with and without the scripts, I don't see much if any difference. You don't have to use those if you don't want to. And you don't need an app to overclock, it has that in settings. But you can use that to undervolt and change I/o's. As phonetool stated, this rom runs really well on this phone. Give it a shot.

I had been using DKStunna's Global 10.1 JB ROM build 3 as my DD for a few months and it was mostly stable. It would lag out once in a while I was managing apps, but it was pretty fast with the built-in Nova Launcher. I got tired of not having a working camcorder and since DKStunna broke his Vivow and ceased development I decided to switch to ChillyBean's ParanoidAndroid/PAC 2.19 ROM. So far it's been awesome! It has "inverted" GAPPS, Facebook, and some other core system apps, which I'm not a fan of, but it's supposedly something you can change. I have a working camcorder again (after a few tweaks), which is what I was looking for. It looks like ChillyBean broke his Vivow also so I don't know how much more development he'll be able to do, which is very sad. Anyway, I highly recommend the latest ParanoidAndroid.

You don't have to change anything for the inverted gapps. Just flash the normal ones instead. Then you never have the inverted ones to begin with.
