[Q] Use power button to take pictures? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I hate having to use the touch screen to take pictures. (I am coming from a droid x) I was wondering if it is possible to make it so the power button or even the volume button snapped a picture? Thanks.

Were these options on your Droid X? If so, was a modification required to be loaded? If so, could you provide a link?
Sounds like a great idea! Off the top of my head, should definitely be possible as a "ROM modification" or a possible small stand alone tweak...

The droid x had a dedicated camera button.

[Q] Hardware camera button for EVO

Is there any way to remap the volume or possibly the search button to take pictures with the EVO? I am tired of always having to click the tiny shutter button on the screen. I think this would benefit many people if this were possible. Thanks.
What ROM are you using? I know for fact that is an option in CyanogenMod 7.

[Q] switch back and menu buttons

Hi there guys, I'd like to know if there's any way to switch the back and menu buttons on the arc??
and I don't mean physically but logically, as in making the back button work as if it were the menu...
Thanks
Just curious, but why?

It's not really for me, a friend of mine has one and doesn't like the button sequence... She's used to the way that it was on her Xperia X10...

That's fair enough. Was just curious, as out of all the button layouts I've seen on phones, the "Back, Home, Menu" layout is the only one that makes sense (to me).
"Back" buttons in apps always point to the left, and are near the left side of the screen, so it makes sense to put the "Back" button on the left.
The "Menu" button acts like the right-mouse button in desktop OSes, bringing up context menus, so it makes sense to put the "Menu" button on the right.
Which just leaves the middle for the "Home" button.
Maybe if you explain it like that to her, it'll "click" and she won't need them moved.
i had same issue, when i switched from x10 to arc s, but probably after 2 weeks i got used to it, and now if i take any x10 in my hands that looks weird to me

So, you have NO solution, just an annoying opinion, and in fact, you're telling her she's stupid. MMMMMkay. I'm sure you didn't intend to be like that, but that's how you come across. Tragic.

Button press to unlock

Has anybody ever thought to implement a feature like that? Rather than sliding, you just press a button. Would look cool with one of those animated miui buttons.

The slide prevents accidental unlocking, like when rolling around in your purse or in your pocket. A button would kinda defeat the purpose.

Swipe to take screenshot?

Hi, isit possible to take screenshot on the HOX like the samsung galaxy S3? using the palm to swipe across the screen.
i am getting sick and tired of S3 users telling me how smart their phone is by that gesture... zzz
Nope, this is a Samsung Touchwiz implemented feature. However, the HOX has 2 methods of taking a screenshot, 1 is the standard built-in Android 4.0+ feature, and is holding the power button and vol down for 2 seconds. The other one is HTC Sense implemented, and is holding the power button and tapping the home button.
No there is not. Stop getting worked up over kids and their plastic toys.
I'm sure on certain custom ROMs you can have different combinations etc. For me running a modded version of cynogen I can hold power for 2s and click screenshot. I'm sure in some settings u can choose what gestures do what, that might be worth playing with.
I would quite like to be able to pinch screen to take screenshot.

I have a HTC Desire 526 and i want to get the Quick Memo that you can swipe on whatever the screen is and take a shot of it and crop it to what size you want or shape, write on it or what ever

How to screenshot

How you screenshot on this phone?on my note 2 I could just swipe my hand across screen and it would screenshot. Anyone know?
Volume down plus power
Yup, this is the correct way to take a screenshot on the G4, AFAIK.
One could also tap on Quick Memo+ in the pulldown menu. This will take a screenshot and open it in Quick Memo+, allowing you to draw on it and whatnot - or just save it.

Ok thanks guys. Although it feels very awkward.... Haha
It's the standard way to take a screenshot on Android. Samsung added the slide the edge of the palm across the screen as one of their gimmicky tricks of TouchWiz. When I had the S3 and S4, it was finicky at best. It was much more reliable to press the power and volume down button.

I've owned the S4 and the S5, my wife currently has the S6 and I've NEVER been able to get a screenshot with the palm wipe BS.
I love the palm swipe Screen shot! It's very easy! However, my LgG2 is the best phone I've owned to date and I'm curious to see how the LgG4 is received. I skipped the G3 and went to note 4 so I'm watching really closely.
My main issue with the G4 will be battery.

I use Allinone Gesture and assign hold back touch button as a screenshot capture. That makes my life a lot easier.
