[Q] Phone call disconnects when open screen ?? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi;
While on a call, the screen will close. While still talking I press the side button to open the screen and the call will disconnect.
How do I correct this?
Thank you.

Same question. Its just stupid, how on earth I`m supposed to wake up screen without disconnecting a call ?!

Go to: settings>Accessibility>un-check-power button ends call

what's funny is i'm pretty sure that this setting is not selected out of the box, so you guys must have went and enabled it yourselves!

I don't know about yours but my SGN seems to have proximity sensor near the speaker and it seems to turn screen on as soon as I take it away from my ear auto-magically It may "lag", but it's fair enough for me...

Mine did the same thing today. I confirmed the accessibility link cited above was not checked. Proximity sensor is irrelevant, I was on a two hour conference call and speaker using speaker phone mode. Screen times out and shuts down on its own, which also shuts off the prox sensor.

i have the same issues,I think this has to do with the proximity sensor, you end up tapping the top of your phone with your ear before it realizes to shut the sceen off, and im not sure if this is due to the bt/proximity issue or just going in and setting the proximity to be more sensitive, will do some playing around and post back

weird screen during a phone call

I have a slight issue with my GSM GN.
The problem happens only when I am on a call ( sending or receiving).
When I am on a call if I am requested to , let's say, "press 1"
I bring up the pad to press 1 and before I can press 1 the screen becomes black, comes back to normal and goes back to black before I had a chance to press 1 again.
And it becomes a missed call.
I also noticed, again when I am on the dialer, during the call if I put the phone to my ear the screen again turns black until I get it away from my ear.
If during this call I put the phone on my desk the screen turns dark.
Back to normal screen when I lift it from the desk.
I would appreciate any input to help me understand this weird behavior.
I believe it is the proximity sensor that determines when to turn the screen on/off during calls.

What would be the course of action in this case?
Does somebody has a solution in mind?:fingers-crossed:
Usually proximity sensors help save battery life when making a call turning the screen of assuming that you have your phone close to your ear. But if you want to disable the sensor figure out a way to block the receptor of the sensor, as it is confirmed of two parts. The emitter and the receiver. If the receiver doesn't get a reflection of the emitter then
The screen won't go off. Hope I explained myself

Same Problem
I had the same problem, I found it was the cover I had on my phone that prevented the phone to go back on during a call.
This is a problem related to the proximity sensor. It's something very hard to clean so I just disabled turn off screen during calls option. Just go to your dialer press menu button then click call settings you should see turn of screen calls option, disable it.
Your cheek probably touch to screen and press random buttons when you're on the phone so remember to turn off your screen by on off button so you dont touch buttons with your cheek.
Hope that solves your problem
edit: I found that sometimes blowing through the speaker makes proximity sensor work correctly for a while. It's not a practical solution though.

Thanks for the information everyone! I busted the screen a few months ago and assume that's whats causing it. I just didn't think that was it because it hadn't been a problem until well after I busted it. Ill disable this option and that will take care of it for my needs.

Screen off during call

Just a noob question, does our zl's screen does not turn off during call specifically when you put your phone near the ear? Mine's not turning off.

The answer is your proximity sensor has been disabled , so you must try uninstall the 3rd app what made it disable
i had the same problem, but it was not always (sometimes).
After the full hard reset it become very better, but not ideal.
Sometimes i feel that my ear pushing the numbers while talking )))) maybe it global problem of model?

On calls (touch)screen is disabled and won't turn on until call is terminated

When I make or receive calls the screen turns black and the touchscreen is disabled. I assume this is to avoid accidental keypresses with my ear or something, but my phone doesn't leave this mode until call ends.. I assume it would switch on screen/touch when leveled horizontally, but it doesn't.
I cannot end the call or do anything while the screen is disabled.
The only thing that works sometimes is to double press power button to turn on camera (thus enabling screen/touch), but it is no reliable method.
Sometimes, if I call a person not taking the call, without mailbox or automatic termination of connection, I have to reboot to phone to end this.
Any idea what I can do? Can this supposedly helpful behavior be switched off or fixed?
I am on Android stock 8.1.0 (OPM6.171019.030.H1, Aug 2018), rooted with most recent Magisk.
This bug is driving me nuts, so Thank You for any ideas or help!
Is there anything blocking the proximity sensor (below the right of the speaker)?

Not that I know of. All is as normal as can be.
But right now, it seems the "trick" with the camera double click works more reliably (>50%) than before. Whatever reason..
If you've had the phone apart recently ... check proximity sensor. There's a little rubber piece tends to fall out.
Did You applied a screen protector recently? I had the same issue because of screen protector was covering the proximity sensor
