Hi Guys,
I've started having a little annoyance with my Desire.
Since I've got the phone (over a year ago now) I've always been able to Sync my weather via WiFi, then switch my WiFi off, and my phone would retain the Synced/Downloaded data and display it on my homepage.
I've never had to keep my 3G switched on so basically it would retain the downloaded weather data, even though I wasn't connected to the web; and then, when I wanted to download new weather info I would just connect via WiFi, Sync weather, and switch WiFi off again.
Now, however, I Sync/Download my weather data but after I switch off my WiFi it loses the downloaded data.
It's only been happening since the last two weeks.
I'm running Android 2.2.2.
I'd appreciate any thoughts,
Thanks,
Ronan

Bit of a funny one this. Unbranded HTC Desire on Orange. Started about two months ago when I was updating the radio and Cyanogen Mod 7. I can make calls if I try to connect a few times, I can send texts (go out first time 7/10 times), and my 3G works perfect all the time, but the phone is often showing no bars, or showing disconnected, and my texts come through only about once a day, and calls almost never. Finally, the clock is running fast, taking on about 7 or 8 minutes per hour, sometimes more.
On my end, I've tried a few radios, I've unrooted and gone back to android 2.2 but it's not helped. The strangest bit is about two weeks ago it randomly started working for a full week (though the clock was still taking on time), but last Sunday it crapped out again. Also, when I was in the States (I live in the UK), it worked fine, but about two days after I got back it stopped working again.
Anyone have any ideas before I ship it back to HTC?
I had the same problem with some version of cyanogen mod. by reflashing ROM my problem has been solved.
My phone rejected calls and text messages on my GSM network.
Hope helping you...
Hi, readysteadyjedi, did you manage to resolve this issue?
I had the same problem with my HTC Desire on vodafone, around that time too, just before xmas for week or so. Raised with vodafone and it seemed to resolve itself (i don't believe related to anything vodafone did), but it's back again.
Virtually no signal and erratic text service near my home (non 3G, think old GSM only), a lot better signal and service in London (signal HSDPA), but even then still not problemless (calls take couple of trys before connect, or drop for no reason). And often shows no bars followed a few mins later by full signal.
Even have a vodafone suresignal box (like private cell which connects via broadband) and very poor connection to this too.
Oddly though, my clock time runs very fast too. Used clocksync app and can watch the clock gaining time!!
Have tried various roms, presently gone back to an older basic rom and still no different.
Have presently borrowed a different HTC Desire and this is working fine, as my Desire used to be. This is non-rooted stock Rom.
Used Clocksync app on this and can see this clock gaining too, but nothing like the same alarming rate.
Can only put it down to phone hardware, something with the antenna perhaps, where 3G/HSDPA can connect ok but non 3G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) is having problems. And perhaps the clock is a red herring.
Anyone any ideas?
Cheers.
I've rooted my Desire and it's running MIUI at the moment. This has happened before, but I've only just decided to come here. I reflashed the stock ROM (with Sense) and the issue is gone.
Basically, when I turn on the phone, it either doesn't connect to my cell network at all (no calls, text, etc.) or it takes a long time to do so. Then, when it does manage to connect, I don't get a data internet connection. When I first flash the ROM, it works fine, but then the next time I turn it on (or in the current case, I didn't even turn it off, it just happened where I lost my data connection). Has this happened to anyone else, and what could be causing this issue?
Note: I believe it also happened with CyanogenMod, but I haven't tried in a few months so I can't confirm a recent version.
What's your radio version? because that can also be the reason why it isn't connecting that well ;o
I have an HTC M8 converted to GPE, running stock rooted Lollipop 5.0.1. I started having this problem fairly recently, previously everything was fine.
With my screen off, all push notifications are delayed significantly (at least 10-15 minutes on mobile data, 20-30 on wifi). Shortly after I turn the screen on, all delayed notifications start coming through. An interesting point to note is that on mobile data, I don't seem to lose the connection at all (as soon as I unlock my phone, I am connected to the internet) but with wifi, I get connection errors for the first 5-10 seconds.
So far I've tried: factory reset, reinstalling firmware (tried latest Sense, latest stock, and a few older versions), switching to a different ROM (SkyDragon). I'm running out of things to check because I've reinstalled everything that can be reinstalled. I've checked all the silly little things like restricting background data and I don't seem to be using any settings on my phone that could cause trouble. I've also tried several "push notification fixer" apps to no avail.
This is seriously making my phone useless to me, so I would appreciate any help. Thanks a lot.
Hi all,
Couple weeks ago I have updated some various apps in GP including couple of the HTC updates. Since then phone started connecting to the internet itself. I can't see any time pattern. I'm receiving notification about e-mails, Tapatalk, Groupon and other but both mobile data and Wi-Fi are off. Now I can't remember which apps have been updated.
I thought that after the update to MM this will be fixed but it still the same. This was on Lollipop nad now on MM
Is there any way to check which app is initiating connection to the internet? Phone is not rooted.
Phone: HTC One M8 (MM 6.12.401.4)
Thanks
I've had an op3 for the last month or so. Currently running OxygenOS 3.2.4.
The problem starts when I move away from my home wifi and connect to a mobile network. The widgets stop refreshing as soon as the internet connection changes. I'm currently using the simple weather widget but have noticed this behavior with even built in widgets like the Google now widget.
I've tried the following things so far hoping to fix it:
Removed all apps which come with widgets
Enabled/Disabled Automatic time & date
Restarting the phone helps but the problem occurs again when the connection changes.
Wiped system cache
Anyone have any other solutions?
Yeah.... Facing the Same issue.
