Has anyone seen the new Ballistic cases for the eyephone? I saw one in person today and I have never been jealous of an iphone before, but if we can't convince them to make this case for the Galaxy, then iphone users will finally have one thing I want.
I have sent a request to Ballistic and hope that others will also. (www)(dot)goballisticcase(dot)com

It's a bit much for me. Wouldn't want my sexy vibrant to get slapped with the mother of all ugly sticks. But to each his own.

WTH? That case looks way overkill. If you need something bulletproof like that, then get a rugid phone thats meant to be used in tough situations.
I can just see the avg joe using that case. Its like a soccer mom driving a Hummer....
I kinda like this case. I could see myself using it or something similar when I go mtn bike riding and then using something slim for everyday use.
I'm hoping for an Otterbox case myself. Just in case though, I emailed these guys and requested that they consider making a version for the Vibrant.
I got a quick response from these guys.
Thank you for your inquiry of the availability of the Samsung Galaxy S-Vibrant case. I am sorry but at this time we are not going to produce a case for the Vibrant. We are considering a case for some of the other Galaxy S just not the Vibrant.
Once again I do apologize and if you have any further questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.

I got the same response from Kristen Edge at Ballistic, but I also informed her in a follow-up that the Vibrant is almost identical in all aspects to the original Galaxy S, which has a world-wide market.
I also emailed them with my interest for a T959 case and they responded shortly after with:
"Unfortunately we do not have any plans at this time to make a case for the Samsung Vibrant T-959 phone. However the request was forwarded to our Product Manager."
How retarded... they move the speaker grill from right to left... now the Samsung Galaxy S2 otterbox will cover the speaker!
HA!!
Gotta love it...
Any idea if this should be fixed by otterbox?
Sprint makes phones? The specs were posted before you bought the phone.
It's also thicker and has a bigger screen...
The phone's a different shape and size, too, with a bigger screen. Why would you assume ANY SGS2 accessories would work on it? All carriers make minor modifications to the phones in the US, typically, so buying international-spec accessories is a sucker's bet.

.... Otter box will make a separate product ... since this is a separate phone
good fail OP
I don't consider it an Epic Failure..
you'd have hoped Otterbox would have the Epic 4g Touch Case available at time of release.
I hate my phone being naked.

That would require them to have access to the hardware. They have their released for the international unit because it's been out for many months and they had access to physical devices to build around. Odds are they don't get pre-release units from Samsung, so couldn't build one for the E4GT until its release. Hard to expect them to design around something they don't have available to design around.

I agree. Only idiot and stupid in this thread is the OP for assuming the case would fit and blaming others foe his mistake.
My itunes isn't syncing with my Epic touch. Stupid Apple.
I'm surprised so many of you feel my post is "idiotic".
I don't expect a S2 otterbox to fit a sprint epic 4g Touch.
I already said, I don't like keeping my phone naked and that using an S2 in them mean time wouldn't work because of the speaker grill.
Besides, if Otterbox truly isn't releasing a case for this phone... That's an epic fail!

Except it won't not work just because of the speaker grill, it also won't work because the phone's shaped differently over all and larger. The speaker grill is the least of your worries.

I hope the image from PocketNow is old and the phone won't be that thick...
It looks almost thicker than the original Epic...
I don't think I would get it, unless it blows the Epic Touch out of the water...
Yeah its already loaded into the cellebrite as the sph-d705 Epic 2
No news about it on the indirect Sprint site though ...
I keep getting page not found when I click the link.

It noticed that the other day, wondered what the hell that was all about...I was gonna post that here but completely forgot about it. Also, the model number starting with sph would almost guarantee its a sprint phone, regardless of the cellebrite having all carriers' phones.

thickness due to slide-out keyboard.. doubt it'll get thinner.
but then i wonder... are they going LTE with it.. since they claimed no more WiMax smartphones? And it's not part of the initial LTE lineup.. as that consists of Galaxy Nexus, LG mid-range device and Mifi-type device.
hmmmmm...
I'm not going to lie, I miss the original epic keyboard. I can't stand trying to type on a screen even with swype..
AWESOME, can I get one without the KB?

where oh where could we ever find an epic for sprint without the keyboard...
Why are you guys getting moist over this phone? Preliminary specs show a single core 1.2ghz Hummingbird CPU, 4"qhd screen...i tuned out after those two alone.
I remember when i had the og Epic, i hardly used the keyboard that much and always wished it was thinner. Holds no candle to the Epic Touch at all whether it includes LTE or not.
For the diehard og Epic groupies with their keyboard fetish , this must be heaven for them i guess.

Same for me. I had the OG Epic, and never used the hard keyboard.
Also, unrelated, is Lugard a Wheel of Time reference?

I came to Sprint and got the Evo. Then soon traded for the Epic. I hated that ****ing keyboard. Slab phones ftw! Did anyone ever find a case that wouldn't scratch that phone? I previously had a Vibrant which was nice and thin. Ended up going back to the Evo. Sprint hit it dead on with the Epic Touch imo.

I thought keyboards disappeared in the days of Men wearing spandex and tight jeans....Oh wait, I think that is coming back : (
I miss my keyboard though. It's funny because the phone that made me fall in love with the keyboard was the HTC Tilt/TYTN. I loved that phone even though it was thick as all hell.
If they can somehow slim the design I'd switch if the specs were on par with what I have now.
I don't understand why Samsung doesn't just make a keyboard attachment that can snap onto their existing phones.

They can. They don't because they have far too many phones to make it for. I don't even have to look to know that the iPhone definitely has one of these available that is precisely what you are looking for and probably 10 others of varying degrees of suck. How many iphones does it fit? Probably all of them, definitely the last 2.
I'm not advocating for the iPhone at all. It's simply a dynamic of having just-once-device vs a world of other devices. I guess it's a physical and/or economic manifestation of the paradox of choice...one of the few places that less choice is beneficial...at least on paper.
Me? I'm all for options, even given this dynamic.
I have to chuckle at those who miss the Epic keyboard. It was the worst phone keyboard I've ever used. It's what forced me to learn to use touchscreen keyboards and finally prefer them. I can't imagine going back now, and especially to the Epic.

came across someone with one of these on their iphone few weeks ago. i have to say.. if youre all about physical keyboards.. its certainly an awesome option. the iphone was not much thicker than stock.. matched the phone completely.. connected via bluetooth of course.
not an iphone fan but i was impressed.

Interesting, but I THINK that is a pic of the Conquer 4G. I have those exact headphones (Sony MDR-EX85) and I'll say that that handset in the pic isn't very big or thick (using the earbud as a size reference).
An updated Epic should be nice tho, I do sometimes miss the keyboard on my OG Epic. It was just too thick.
Has anyone been able to find this case here for the Epic 4g touch. Its a nice case but unfortunetly its only for the Galaxy S 2.

lol no problem. Sucks that i cant get it for the Epic 4G touch though
This really isn't the place to look for a epic 4g case, if you don't mind me saying
Not trying to be rude, only trying to make these forum a cleaner place.
Have a nice day!
Has anyone bought this? Whats the quality like?
So, my mom is getting her upgrade in 2 weeks and I was thinking of giving her my gs3 and getting an evo. I like the build quality, screen, and camera, and its something new. I just wanted to know if anyone that owns an evo has any input on whether I should do this. Also, it'd be cool if you guys knew anything that makes this phone significantly superior to the evo (other than dev support)

Though I've seen and played with the LTE, and basically an evo 4g on 'roids. I've seen more people leave the LTE to come to the G S III. Also, seen people have signal issue due to the aluminum chassis and backing.

i came from the evoLTE to the GS3 and if I were you I would stick with the GS3 or get the note2.. or.. get the note2 and let me buy it from you and ill give you my GS3 plus cash .. Anyways the reason I stayed with the GS3 is because my EvoLTE had the bend problem. Like so many others have had. Also the kickstand always wanted to come unscrewed. Plus the GS3 is just so much smoother, and the EvoLTE external speaker sucks compared to the GS3.
Of course I did like the phyical camera button on the EvoLTE. Plus the screen was beautiful. But like I said before.. The build quality might look better in person. But if you put the two against each other head to head the GS3 will come out on top because plastic is always more giving.
I actually just came from the lte, great phone but doesnt compare to the GSIII, which really surprised me. I loved HTC devices after the original evo served me well, I moved onto the Epic touch and it was a terrible experience for me, gps and location services were soooooo bad with that phone, it made me swear off ever owning another Samsung device. I ended up getting the evo lte in August, which I promptly rooted (biggest pain in the a$$) well the screen starting going whack few weeks ago, returned it to Best Buy and because they didnt have any evos they replaced it with a GSIII, I was and still am blown away by this device, Samsung has a beast on their hands with this thing!! imo the GSIII is a better device, and I was team HTC all the way until the day I got the GSIII
dont : i personally like evo lte more than s3 ( yeah i know : shoot me )
but evo lte always gave me great data speed and 0 signal loss .
but memory is low on that phone and htc is messing with users since jb update , making it freakin hard foe S-On folks.
my advise wait another month and see whats s4 is gonna be , or get a note 2 : ace phone

That's what I did. This phone has way better support and updates from Samsung. HTC is totally not caring about the development community. There kernel source for jelly bean isn't even out yet and the phone had had it for over a month
Anthraxed FreeGS3 @ 1.51 Ghz
Faster then your 2.1
Alright, I guess I have been convinced, thanks everyone.

I can tell you the gs3 camera with ma6 kills the lte. Our screen is less sharp but colors are truer. Battery life on the Samsung's are better.
I've owned both and definitely prefer the lte
