[Q] missing notification vibrations - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi there,
I have a problem with my notification vibrations. When I receive a call the phone vibrates as expected, but when I receive a text message or an e-mail there is no vibration, though configured...
I have the out-of-the Box Android 4.0.1 (the OTA update did not arrive yet :-/ ). The acoustic notifications are set to silent mode. In text messages settings as well as e-Mail settings the vibrate setting is always.
Has anybody a hint what I could try to get vibrations working for Text messages and e-mails?
regards

I also tried the vibrate only if silent setting without any success...

Don't know if it would matter but after setting it to always have you rebooted your phone

just tried it; without success

Try downloading an app that lets you assign custom vibrate pattens to notifications and see if it works then

I'm having the same problem with my CDMA on a deodexed but otherwise stock 4.0.2.
It seems to be an issue (for me at least) with the Google Apps. GTalk, GMail and Google Voice Texts aren't setting the vibration when anything new arrives.
Sorry, I have nothing positive to add other than: "Me Too!"
Viel Glück

If you have lightflow installed, it can override the notification settings, make sure(if you have it) that vibration is enabled for sms
if you don't, well I see no reason not to have it its just great!

I haven't installed lightflow. I tryed installing custom vibes und set a custom vibration for an sms contact. unfortunately it still does not work :-/
Does anybody know how to contact samsung/google support? On the Samsung side I cannot choose the GI-I9250 as model and on the google side all contact links are linking to all but a mail adress or contact form

problem kind of fixed
Hello everybody,
just for the files. My final solution was a hard reset of the device. right now the vibrations are working...
Actually I was not able to figure out whick App was causing the problems...

[Q] Delivery Report

I like to have delivery reports turned on for SMS messages, but when I enabled Delivery Reports I am getting a notification in the Status Bar area and a notification alert, like a new message has come in.
Does anyone know how, to disable the Notification of Delivery Reports? I want the reports, but not the "new message" like notification.
really no one has an answer for this?

Even i asked this sometime back apparently the reports will get delivered in notification only in the stock app.
I dont think there is another way around this. Just use some 3rd party app from the market..
Hi
When I had my One X new somehow I seemed to managed to set two different notifications for SMS and the delivered notification. The delivered notification was a quieter alert and I knew to ignore it as it was just a delivery report.
After wanting a clean start as I'd been messing around downloading apps etc where the phone was new, I did a factory reset.
Now I can't see how I managed to get two different types of alert, and now can only seem to get the same alert regardless if the SMS is a delivery report or a normal SMS received, which is annoying.

Phil
Go into the app settings and choose your tones. You can't set different volumes, though

but is there a way to differentiate between incoming sms and delivery report?
All I have is an option named "Notification Sound" and it seems to be a general option.
In the message app go to menu then notifications. Has the option of playing a tone or not. Can get the notification in the notification bar or not and you can chose a separate tone, no tone, vibrate, no vibrate.
This is on stock rom.

Hi
Think I found out how I managed different notifications, seems to be a bit of a hack that allows different notifications for the delivery receipt and normal SMS.
1) In the HTC SMS application, Click Settings then Notifications, then make sure Received notification is selected and enable Notification sound, set the sound you want to hear when receiving a delivery receipt. I guess you could upload a silent sound file to use in order to hear nothing, but I haven't tried this. Under sent notifications uncheck notifications.
2) This is the hack, probably a bug that might get fixed. Go into Settings then Personalise, click the Sounds tab, and change the Notification sounds to the sound you want to hear when receiving an SMS.
What seems to happen now is receiving an SMS gets the Notification sound set in 2 under personalise, but a receipt report still gets the original sound set in 1. If you go back into the SMS settings the sound file name has been changed to that set in 2 but hasn't been applied to delivery receipts. If you change the sound file to something else it will be reset across receipts and new SMS, so you will need to go back into personalise to get the SMS to something different again.
I now have a much quieter sound for delivery receipts, and a louder sound I can recognise as new SMS messages.
Hope that helps.

Phil

[Q] Independent Notification Sound Control

Is there any way to adjust notification tones and/or volumes independently? I am sick of getting woken up in the middle of the night from emails and facebook updates but I don't want to disable sms notifications.
Thanks

He doesn't want all notifications disabled.
You can control each notification and sound level from within the app itself.
Yeah. I guess I could disable it in the app. Unfortunately its a pain in the ass to do because its like 5 screens deep to get to those setting in my work email app. What I was really hoping for was a way to automate it with tasker to mute only my email and facebook notifications but no sms.

Well if you had Tasker run your notification sounds (example: sms profile that plays the sms notification sound when you receive an sms). You could then make some profiles, like an @ night profile, that would turn off all the sound profiles except sms @ night.
You'd still have to select the silent notification for all the notification in settings > sounds or go into each application's settings and select silent notification for each of the apps you care to control. But, you'd only have to do that once as soon as tasker is in control of your notification sounds.

Text Messages linking to Calendar

This may not be note 10 specific but I know this didn't occur on my Note 9. I've noticed since last night when I started texted with my note 10 that any text I send with "today" "tonight" "Tomorrow" Upon sending the text message the word becomes a link to create a new calendar item. Thus far I've been unable to find a way to turn this off. Has anyone else noticed this? If so has anyone found a way to stop this behavior?

Anyone ever find a solution to this? It's super annoying. Happens with both the Samsung messaging app and the Google messaging app on my S10e.

Thanks.... but was asking about SMS text messages, the subject of this thread.
For me it's under calendar itself.
Go into calendar settings or app settings for calendar and clear it's data and restart the calendar setup.

Yes, i know what's your subject of thread.
However, above info etc,
was my fix to my "problem",
when i had similar issues .
I found that it was my G calendar was recording Sms.... , email etc, everything, that had references to dates, days etc.!
and as my Samsung and Google calendars are linked,
it appeared in both calendars, as events etc.....!
Bottom line,
If my fix /info, does not apply to you or fix issues.... just ignore !
Good luck
I see. Thanks. I can't find any setting in my calendars that is linking to gmail or SMS. And it happens only on the stock Samsung and Google messages apps, not 3rd party SMS apps like Textra or Handcent. So I assume it's something related to the SMS apps...

Samsung Messages - How to stop it from waking screen and how to see message text in notifications?

Hey Everyone, I have 2 quick questions regarding the Samsung Messages app. I am on 11.0 OneUI 3.0. When I receive a text my phone screen turns on for a second and I cannot figure out for the life of me how to stop it from doing that. Does anyone know how to stop that? Also, when I receive a text and I pull down my notifications panel it just says new message but doesn't show me who or a preview of the contents of the text message. I would like to have it not show that info on the lockscreen but when the phone is already unlocked I would like to see who the message is from and a preview of the text also, on top of that, when I get a text and I try to check it on my Fit2 it just says new message also. Does anyone know what setting I can change to fix that as well? I cannot seem to change the correct setting for either of these 2 issues. Thanks in advance!
Hi mate,
In order to screen not being woken up on receiving a text message you need to set up edge light notification instead - it will just show tiny colour animation instead. It is this or wake the screen. Alternatively, you can use different app for messages - Google Messages, Textra, etc. and set it up as you wish.
With relation to showing message content, you need to change it in Messages setting called Message Preview - it is turned off by default.
I hope this helps.

The setting should be under
Flash Notifications > Screen Flash Notifications
Do a search as soon as you open settings for Flash Notifications and you should see the toggle just below.

Question Google Messages no longer sounds an audible notification

Somewhere in the last few weeks I have lost the audible tone when a new message arrived on my 6 Pro. It worked and then I noticed I was no longer hearing my chosen tone.
I have been through all of the settings (** I THINK **) and found nothing suspicious. I don't recalling changing any settings. I have changed the tone (mp3) that I used and that did not bring back the audible tone. I have to be frank, finding where to set the tone was a bit of a challenge. I picked a tone in my own Ringtone Folder on the phone. But then I even moved a tone or two to other folders and tried selecting from a different folder in case that would fix things - it did not. Still no tone.
It is a bit of a problem as TEXT messages are supposed to be quick but if you don't know you got one, NOT SO QUICK.
I have restarted Messages and restarted the phone. No change. I cleaned the cache, too.
Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Yes. My phone rings.
But I now realize I'm not hearing email arrivals either. And I played music just yesterday. I don't think my sound it being shunted to any bt devices.
Using custom notification (non default) has been a hit and miss affair on my p6p since the day I got it. Sometimes works sometimes doesn't - I've give up trying to find the cause.
Try this ( AOSP messaging )
Sorry for the names of the files being not in English language. but that dark green bubble with an smile is an messaging app.
( There an AOSP calendar too, contacts too, even an clock app.
Found the issue with help from Android Forums. It was a setting in the Watch app on the phone in the Notification area. You can turn on/off notifications on the phone. But I don't recall changing those so possibly an update changed something or I was sleep walking or setting!
I did look at alternate Messaging apps. I tried Chomp but it has the same problem - probably because of that same setting.

I couldn't figure it out. Been dealing with it for two weeks. I updated my phone and didn't bother re-rooting the system cause i couldn't figure it out. Thanks, now got to re-root it again. Thanks I can't stress how happy i am.
to silent or vibrate.
Check the app's notification settings: Go to the app's settings and make sure that notifications are turned on and that the sound option is enabled.
Clear the app cache: Sometimes clearing the app cache can help resolve issues with notifications. Go to your phone's settings, select Apps, then find Google Messages and clear the cache.
Restart your phone: Sometimes a simple restart can fix notification issues.
Uninstall and reinstall the app: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it from the Google Play Store.
If none of these steps work, you may want to reach out to Google Support for further assistance.
