I noticed that the market doesn't let download apps like NFL mobile. NHL mobile, face book and other apps. I know that devs may just not want ot make their apps for my phone but I already had Facebook on my phone back in October 2011. The market wasn't letting facebook update and after I uninstalled it I couldn't get it back. The same with xda premium app and cyanide and happiness apps. I paid for both and now I can't re-install them!?
Did you change your DPI in build.prop?
No I have't touched the build prop since I bought it.
I think you've done something to yours that's causing this issue. Facebook should be able to download for any android device. What mods have you done?

The only mod I've done is this tweak

and obviously zerg rush rooted.
I saw another thread from.another xperia play user and he/her said the zerg rush itself changed thr phones lcd density.

You can edit it with a root file manager. Root Toolbox also has a build.prop editor, I'd recommend you use that.
I'm SOO glad I bought that app when I could and backed it up.
whew problem fixed thx everyone who helped

I rooted yesterday, if that has anything to do with it, but I went to install mightytext today and it say that it is not compatible with this phone. Can someone please try to install, or report if you have installed, mightytext? Is there anything I can try to install this app? I tried deleting all data for the market under settings->applications and that did not help. I don't know of any other specific apps that are missing at this time.

Wow, that was totally it!
1. How did you know that? That seems so out of the blue. You don't have to answer that. I am sure it was personal experience.
2. How did the market website know that I had changed the resolution too? I couldn't even install it from there.
Oh well, all is good now.
You guys rock!
The new Android Market (3.3.1.1) seems to fix this issue for me allowing me to download and install without having to first reset my resolution settings.
so i came across this great app that i think i should share.. its called Absolute System and did not get it from the market so im not sure if its there, google it.
it has really lived up to its name by allowing me to Delete ANY file i want including the Phone.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk and much more.... also my acer drawers (games, media etc) was not working so i clared the catch and now its perfect again
it has a great file browser, total app management, i can download and use boot animations from different devices, change my system fronts (system wide), terminal emulator, ad blocker, build.prop editor etc....
great app using it as im typing and im loving it.. hope u guys find it usefull
Absolute System Root Tools is on the Android Market and AppBrain. Thanks, wicced!
Nice app. Bought it on the market.
Thanks
No problem... got a bunch of stuff on my a100 just not enough time to put them all lol... glad u guys found it usefull and I will keep on sharing as I find them

Thanks will give this a try. You dont happen to know if I can change build.prop so I can play my gameloft games from my phone to the a100? I just don't wanna pay $4.99 all over again. I gave them too much $ already. I've already had to do it when I switch from Evo 4g to Evo 3d.

Update:
I have rooted my Acer A100 but I still can't run this app. It keeps FC. Is it because the app doesn't support this device?
So I need to download some jap games
I need to change my build prop to a jap phone such as an xperia. I plan to use market enabler to change the market to docomo
Anyone know an app that can change the device type in my build prop back and forth so I don't have to mess with ADB ?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I haven't tried it on the E4GT, but Blade Buddy has a prop modifier. It's free on the market.
Root explorer will allow you to do it make a back up by rename it to buildprop.bak then copy it and change it but name it to buildprop again ...

its not on the market but it can be downloaded from amazon app store. its called market explorer. you can change your market to a bunch of different ones.
Don't know that "Jap" is the proper nomenclature lol

There's one called PropModder that works great on the NS4G....not sure about E4GT. It may be free if you can hunt it down on XDA otherwise its a buck or 2

i just did it manually recently to get 50gb of storage on box.net...had to make my phone look like an lg...anyway hit up
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386159
for instructions to change it manually using root explorer just read through the first post on how to change it to an lg...and im sure u can follow the same instructions to turn it to a "jap" phone...in the very least you can follow the instructions to get free 50gbs of storage
if u need an app you can use system tuner or rom toolbox or root tools or like i said root explorer
Rom Toolbox is probably the best app for something like this.
Absolute System has a prop editor integrated on it.
Prop modder on rootzwiki
Rom Toolbox has a build.prop editor along with other goodies =D.

I have the pro version...but I hate its backup feature and everytime I install that app it starts automatically backing my apps up even when I tell it not too...
Titanium is much better they should just give it up
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Always edit your build.prop manually with root explorer fist. That way a backup of the original is automatically saved. Cal me crazy but I don't trust an app to backup anything system related.
Well you are not crazy, just a little bit contradictory.
so something interesting for those that have seen the hybrid rom like paranoia that mix tablet and phone layout. if you set your dpi under 200, the ion displays in tablet mode so taskbar is on the botton and notifications come up from the bottom instead of top .. just interesting
Thanks I just got the Ion today, I'm playing around with the features now. I definitely like tablet mode for YouTube and email apps.
What settings is this under? I looked in display and app management.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
You will need to be rooted and download a build prop editor. I use rom toolbox.
As far as I know any ics from will go into tablet mode with low enough DPI. Some will have issues with phone not working though my personal experience. also market may not show you all available apps or let you update current apps because of DPI change independantly so market won't have issues
That's why paranoid android is useful it allows you to change DPI independantly without negatively effecting phone performance
Okay, so root and ICS first...... I'm reading up and looking at YouTube now. I must say I've been a Samsung user for a while, I'm pretty hyped about this Sony Xperia ion, I want to leave it sick but I can't resist.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
U can download a modded play store apj that should allow u to download all apps regardless of dpi or region search xda Ull find it. Fyi

You got it breezy! good luck welcome to well built phones ...lol Its been a while since I've had a Sony lol, had a BB then a a few other androids then went to galaxy nexus for a bit but find Samsungs just feel cheap
Hi guys I opened this thread up to share some of my top favorite rooted applications. Many experienced users will know what most of these are but some may be new, and of course this is a great place to begin for inexperienced root users. I'm not going to go into crazy detail about all of them but I'm hoping that others will post, comment, and share their findings as well. Take a look.
Avast! - advanced mobile security that gives you virus scan, theft protection, firewall, text/call block, and more!
Adfree- self explanatory. One of the best ad blockers for your browser in the market.
Airdroid- this is my personal favorite. Simply run the app, follow the quick instructions and BOOM you are managing all your own files from your phone both internal and external on your regular desktop computers or laptops. Its super easy to use and a must have.
Cachemate- clears cache with a click of a button.
My backup (root edition) - serves just like titanium backup. Easily backup your apks and data or just apks alone. Also includes photos/videos/music. Reason why I prefer this is because I used to use titanium mainly for freezing and backing up but ics/jb both have the "disable" option now.
Quickboot- quickly boot into recovery/reboot/power off
Root browser- arguably the best file explorer/manager out there. Pretty fast r/w speeds.
Root call blocker- not only can you manually enter the numbers you want blocked but this is one of the first apps I found where your phone won't even ring whatsoever.
SD booster- boost SD card speed. Don't know too much about it but was told from a friend to set the speed to 2048kb for optimization.
Terminal emulator- the "command prompt" of android.
Undelete- ever accidently delete a file and get really mad? Simply run this app and snatch it back!
Voodoo ota- copies your superuser binaries and allows you to keep root after an ota update (going to come in handy once the official jb comes through )
Hope you guys enjoy these apps. Obviously not responsible for anything that these do to your device. Please comment and also share your findings ! Thank you

I'll just leave this here....best rooted apps...i installed at least 2 apps from each page of the list....
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ted-user-should-know-about-part-5-apps-34-41/
ROM toolbox enough said, and smart ram booster !
why was this not more of a thing?
Also, a cool app TO HAVE FUN WITH YOUR FRIENDS WITH (ONLY) is DroidSheep. It's a packet sniffing app, it's cool.
Titanium Backup
Disable Services
Fantastic apps we all need to have.

I am using Grrenify and Seeder. From "hacktools" Faceniff and wi-fi kill.
greenify is great.
my recommendations are Android Firewall, Root Explorer, and Titanium Backup.
Android Firewall is great in that it blocks internet (WiFi/mobile data/both) to apps that you specify. this is great for blocking ads for those that want to play games that do not require a data connection.
As this thread is about root apps I thought I'd ask here rather then start a new thread.... has anyone found a screen recorder that actually works on the M? I've tried SRC and screencast with no luck...even a method that requires me to connect it to the PC would be great....
