hey guys,
Im about to unlock my boot loader, im following the instructions from this thread.
Unlocking Your Bootloader
Words of warning - unlocking your boot loader will wipe your data partition
Things you have put on your internal memory will be fine but all of your apps etc will be gone.
my question is "Where is that internal memory?"
I did a factory reset twice and it erased all my pics, music every thing, weren't they in the internal memory?
Im sorry if its a weird question im confused and I dont want to go into recovery with no rom
thanks XDAs
I stand to be corrected, but the data partition is AKA "internal storage."
The "phone storage" is /sdcard.
So wiping data partition means apps and text messages disappear, but not music or video that would show up if you plugged into pc and used as mass storage

how do I know if my pics and music are in the SD card or internal? I use mass storage to put my files on the phone.
maybe this sounds stupid but how dose the factory reset erase my pics if there in the phone storage (SD)

They still always be on sd. As the phone stores all your pics videos etc on the sd partition. The internal 2gb memory is for apps.
I think when you factory reset it gives you an option to tick if you want to wrote your files or something
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium App
Simply put, if it shows up on your mass storage, it wont be affected by factory reset

thanks guys, i really appreciate your help.
another guy also had the same problem, after rebooting the phone, a black screen comes up and we had to make a factory reset and it erased every thing even the SD
Thank you both
I bricked my phone and before I have it replaced I’d like to explore my options for recovering my data. Unfortunately everything was on the internal SD so I can’t just pop out the card out of the back like the external memory. I’m wondering: (1) can I take apart the phone, locate and extract the internal memory somehow or (2) is there any way to recover my internal SD once the phone has been bricked and completely unresponsive (i.e. JTAG or other options?)
Thanks
You will not be able to retrieve your data before the brick repair is done. You can not open the phone and get at the memory. This Brick Repair service says that they can recover all data and internal sdcard data.
I accidently erased my pictures folder from the internal memory of my S3. I understand I may be able to recover the deleted photos/videos with photo recovery software and enabling my phone as a USB mass storage device so I have.... 1. successfully rooted my phone 2. downloaded Stellar Recovery Software 3. downloaded SGS3 Easy UMS. The problem is I can't get the software to mount to the internal memory to see the file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you ....
Hello,
Can I recover lost data in my phone ?
yesterday I deleted a folder on my sd card with the USB connection on my Z1C, a folder like .../emulated/legacy...
It wipe out all the data previously displayed as on the sd card by the MTP (MP3/ pictures/ and so on).
I tryed to put my sdcard on the desktop recuva software and don't find half the data I was lookng for.
Is there a way I can look for the erased data on the internal memory ?
I understand that this app can do the job : DiskDigger undelete (root).
But my Z1C is not rooted and since I'm on lollipop, I understand on others post that I must flash things (don't know exactly which ones since I'm quite noob on the topic).
So I am scared that by flash to root the device I may write on some data I want to recover.
Root is unsafe because flashing to root will not be on the same memory part than my lost data or did I miss something
Do you know an other solution ?
Thanks for the answers.

Hi all,
Any help would be appreciated.
I connected my LG D852 with MM to the LG software, I had a pop-up that there is an upgrade so clicked OK thinking that the data will not be wiped as long as I will be still on MM. That was wrong! ALL data are wiped including my newborn first photos which are priceless to me . I tried some apps like diskdigger and some software on the PC but all of them require root to perform. From my search, it seems like impossible to root this version of the LG . So, any help to restore these photos will be appreciated.
Additional Information:
- Photos were on the internal memory.
sd card or internal memory ?
if sd, try to restore on PC
if internal this may help https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
also stop using your phone (take the battery out). Files aren't actually deleted unless overwritten by another app. By using the phone you're keep writing to your memory.

Data are on the internal memory. I tried to follow the link you shared but the main issue is that the phone is required to be rooted which is not possible (to my knowledge) for the LG G3 D852.

Did you install Google Photos at any time? Perhaps it backed them up to the cloud?
