I bricked my phone and before I have it replaced I’d like to explore my options for recovering my data. Unfortunately everything was on the internal SD so I can’t just pop out the card out of the back like the external memory. I’m wondering: (1) can I take apart the phone, locate and extract the internal memory somehow or (2) is there any way to recover my internal SD once the phone has been bricked and completely unresponsive (i.e. JTAG or other options?)
Thanks
You will not be able to retrieve your data before the brick repair is done. You can not open the phone and get at the memory. This Brick Repair service says that they can recover all data and internal sdcard data.

I've recently ran into a problem where i cannot access my memory card on my dash.
I was playing around with my friends phone and wanted to see if i could send him some mp3's but bluetooth didn't work, so i decided to take out my microsd card out of my dash and put it in his phone.
I couldn't find the storage space on his phone so i asked him to look for it. He found it and the phone couldn't read the card so it prompted him to format and before i could say no, he clicked yes.
I put the card back into my dash and tried to boot up but failed, got stuck on the startup screen. Im guessing its because i have so many startup programs stored on my storage card. So i performed a hard reset and it no longer got stuck at the startup screen.
Now the problem is that when i go to my file explorer, it won't detect my microsd card. Is this caused by the hard reset or perhaps because my friend decided to format my memory card on his phone?
Any help would be appreciated as to how to save my memory card. Maybe i just need to go buy a new card, just thought I would ask on the forum before i did that.
So if it doesnt detect it, no option to format it, right?
I would but it in a pc and see if it detects it. If it does, format it to Fat or Fat32 and put it back in your phone and see what happens.
My Droid Incredible reboots itself and never gets into the home screen. Is there a way to recover files stored on the internal memory so that I can reload the dam thing.
Factory OS, never rooted or flashed.
How you tried removing the battery and powering the phone back up?
Yes, multiple times. It boot loops, you here it says Droid then it reboot itself over and over.
Maybe a bad SD card? You could try replacing it, and make sure it's formatted FAT32. If not that, hardware failure of some type?
Theres no SD card in it. Do you think I can root the phone then install recovery then mount the internal storage to recover the files i need? Will that work without it being reloaded?

No SD card, how come?
You'll need an SD card if you want to root it. Rooting it doesn't format internal storage or the SD card. However, I don't know if you'll be able to root it if it is just rebooting, and not coming to the home screen.
You may be able to download the stock image zip, put it on the SD card, boot into the bootloader to restore the stock image. This would set up the phone as it was out of the box. I am unsure as to what will happen to the things on the internal storage of the phone, or if it'll even let you restore the stock image zip file...?
Hmmm...well I have SD cards. I wonder is there a way to recover the files on the internal storage?
If I had a SD card.
Is it possible to root it, then install recovery. Mount the internal storage for file extraction?

To root, you have to run Unrevoked. You could try that, but I don't know if it'll work since the phone just constantly reboots. When I've run Unrevoked to root, the phone sits @ it's home screen, and Unrevoked does it's thing and reboots the phone as needed. Since yours is rebooting, I don't know if it would take the rooting process.
Thank you.

Hi Guys,
I'm sort of new to all this Rooting/Flashing Process.
So any way I'll start. I tried to Root my HTC Desire HD the other day, but can't due to the fact the current stock rom that's installed doesn't seem to want to recognise the SD Card, as it think it's a Blank Card or Unsupported Filesystem. (Believe me I have no idea to get round this issue, as I've tried several Re-Formats of this SD Card, and I have tried other SD Cards, but if you put any in my phone then back into the PC, You have to reformat it so you loose your stuff) So basically any SD Card you put in My Desire HD, Screws it up. Meaning after you even try and format it on my Phone or even a PC, you loose all of your stuff straight away.
Anyway back to my question. Since I'm unable to Root my phone, Am I able to just download ROM Manager from play store, and Flash the recovery so I can Wipe my phone completely and install A new ROM? Or since my phone won't detect my SD Card, Will it brick my phone or screw it up if I do flash the recovery and wipe anything? (By the way, I've got the phone to recognise the SD Card once or twice, but after a few hours, even after using the phone perfectly to take videos, pictures Music ETC, it wants to reformat it again due to the fact the phone thinks it's an Unsupported Filesystem). I'm not sure if this SD Issue is Hardware or Software Related, But I would have my money on Both, but I'm just not Sure.
Your help would be really appreciated guys. Thanks.
You can only flash a recovery if you can write to a partition. You need to root with either HTCDEV or AAHK to write to a partition.
I got the dreaded bootloop two weeks ago, but I didn't think this should affect data on my SD card. However I cannot read it in Windows. I've just got my repaired phone back and booted with the SD card in (phone has been factory reset of course) and I just got a notification saying "SD card is corrupt. Touch to fix" and it takes you to format SD card.
Just wanted to check the SD card really is toast or is it somehow locked to the original install or my google account somehow and I can still get the data off somehow?

Have you selected adoptable storage in settings? This means extending your internal storage with sd card space.
If yes no chance. The sdcard gets encrypted when doing so and you can access it only from within android.

No that wasn't how I formatted it. Oh well, not too worried about it as Google photos backed up everything I really wanted from it.

Ok what i did on my wifes. If u have even a old cheapy rooted device. Format the card but dont save anything on it yet or ypu will start writing over old data marked for deletion I use disk digger pro. It can recover most of ure pictures some movies and music. The larger the files harder it is to recover. I know its not a surefire method to save all but i was able to pull 800 of 850 pics and movies of my wife sd that kept corrupting. As long as u do a quik format. And dont write over any of the card. The datA is on the marked for delete side. But is techñichly still there. Do not to full format. Will replace the data with loads of 1$ and0$. And the data will be gone forever.
Please is it possible to recover my files, Moto g6 play XT 1922-5. The phone no longer recognizes the unlock pattern. I was using a 256GB SD card as internal memory, which was slowing it down and also had two cracks on the display. I believe that for one of these two reasons the phone stopped recognizing the unlock pattern. I had an emergency situation with my Daughters and I tried to unlock the phone until it went into factory reset mode. The phone started working again and I was able to use it to call but all my files were lost. I also forgot to remove the card so as not to affect it. The phone went from Android 8 to Android 9. I just retrieved my calendar from google. I had gone to two conferences and recorded audio of classes, company qrcodes, photos of equipment and stands. Sorry for the long text and the translation by google translator. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me solve this problem.
If the SD card wasn't encrypted you should be able to either read or recover the files.
Internal memory is much harder. Consider using a data recover company.

Thanks for listening. The SD card is as encrypted internal memory, I can't read the files. Here where I live there is no data recovery company. Only in bigger cities. anyway thanks for the help.
