I've tried searching everywhere and used Google but couldn't find anything. Anyone know how to change the bg color in the actual conversion?
I can't find it either. And I certainly for the life of me get the ET4G mms.apk to compile correctly. I think there's an app that's dependent on mms.apk when you decompile it. Anyways, a reference I found to the background color would be this.
<style name="cmas_alert" parent="@android:style/Theme.Dialog">
<item name="android:windowBackground">@android:color/transparent</item>
</style>
Inside Styles.xml.
Also Colors.xml has some grey shades. It's in one of those two. Both inside the values folder when you decompile the app.
I never decompiled the MMS.apk. I opened it with 7.zip and replaced all the files that started with message_bubble with ones I liked from another mms.apk I found. When I flash a new rom, I merely replace the folder "drawable_hdpi" with my modded one. I had no issues doing it that way.
Ya I've tried searching in the colors and styles xmls and changing stuff but nothing seems to work. And I've been using twframework.apk as the dependency to decompile and compile.

This is fine if your just replacing images but if you wanna edit xmls you have to decompile and recompile

I agree...but in your OP you asked about changing the background color of the conversation. I assumed you meant the "bubbles" the conversation text occurs. Those are all .9.png located in res/drawable/hdpi. There are 19 of them. I changed these out with two shades of blue from a themed mms.apk I pulled from another Rom.
However, if you're talking the true background and text here is a post in another forum with the XML edits he did after decompiling:

Thanks a lot. I'll take a look at it. And ya I was talking about the gray background where the conversation is.
I was able to change the timestamp color but no luck changing that grey background color

I can modify sources.jar but don't know which string.
Several times i've tried to do it...my only result was a stock theme but without black text and clock (that remains white).
@HTCDevil
I have the same problem, I tried to change the color but no results
Developers can we help?
Would comparing the two files in this post help shed any light ?

Thanks, but it's only for deleting clock, not for modifying its colours.
I have modified some xml but i think colours want to be changed using a hex editor.
Anyway it's difficult to find the right string with hex.
Many users have done that but didn't answer at this.
I contacted AOSPish's OP asking him about which xml we have to modify...but he did that project time ago...so he didn't remember.
I'm available for cooperation. See you guys
It is not in the xml file but sources.jar!
A change with smali and backsmali with SDK no ?

I thought there might be a change in the xml lurking somewhere that wasn't so obvious.
In theory there should only be a change from the hex for white and black.
I'm sure somewhere in an older theme someone had changed the clock colour, I'll have a search about as it's probably buried in amongst a gazzillion posts somewhere
Weel hello guys yesterday i downloaded the icon set from this section and decided to change them in the system apps apk.
Replacing the icons in the apk was not too difficult but now i have a problem, i mean i changed the Phone.apk icon and everytime i push it on the phone in the drawer i always see the old default icon and dunno how to change it.
But if u go to the path with root explorer, i see the changed icon in the description of the apk here are images to help analizing my prob.

there are typically two places that the icon needs to be changed. the place you are looking for, depending on apk, that needs to be changed is located in
res\drawable-xhdpi
for apps that do not have a drawable-xhdpi, you need to look in
res\drawable-hdpi
You need the change the images in the res/mipmap folder

Ok guys ive looked in the folder there is only one place where i found the ic_launcher_phone.png file it was in drawable-xhdpi and changed it with my own custom png. there is not any other place where is some thing like that or the original icon. and it still does not change in the drawer. its looks like that the drawer has its own icons no matter what i change.

that's because you're prob looking in the Phone.apk. you would think that would be the correct place, but Google has (at least since 2.2?) associated the ic_launcher_phone.png app image with the Contacts.apk. so that's why it's not changing
open Contacts.apk and navigate to res\drawable-xhdpi and you'll see an ic_launcher_phone.png
omg i love you XD ur wright also in the contact app there is the same png ill try to change it there and see what happens thank you will post when ill try man thank you

I installed liquid rom v1.1 and that part was different, the icons were, I don't know, less transparent. The icons on the left were all solid colors. Never seen that before. Now, it has changed back on its own, for no reason I can think of and I want to change it back.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I can decomplie, edit, and compile apk and framework just fine. Hopefully it's easy tho.
Oh yeah its a breeze. All you have to do is decomopile the systemUI.apk and find those .png's that you want to edit. Finish the changes with Photoshop or whatever you're using and recompile, and push it back into the system. I noticed that one of the icons was from titanium backup. You will have to actually go inti that .apk and edit those as well if you want to make them all uniform-which would probably take a million years haha
Edit:
Actually some of those might be in the framework apk just decompile both haha

I doubt this is the case. Why would ALL the developers use the same ugly greyish color. I'm sure its just a transparency thing.

I've been using Apk_Multi-Tool_Alpha_02 with the github experimental builds addon. Not sure which version of apktool is in the "other" folder though. It has handled everything I throw at (except contacts & phone) without having to play one jar to decompile and another to recompile game.

I am trying to track down the XML that contains the info for the lock screen. I have checked all the keyguard XMLs in framework-res and none seem to make a difference. Is the lockscreen TW specific? I did not see any TW_keyguard XMLs. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
What in particular are you looking for? I know images for the lockscreen are located in frameworks for TW... but there could be XML files in the SystemUI for the lockscreen you want, TW does things a little different from AOSP.

I checked the two usual suspects, I'll keep poking around, it should be in a string file after you decompile an apk though...

It's in framework-Res/values/strings. When you are in strings search for the text that it says now. Change, save and compile. Just changed mine this weekend.

I changed this line, saved and recompiled. Pushed framework and it still says the same thing on the lockscreen. Wierd
I was just wondering if there is an easy way to change the battery icon in the status bar, like a flashable zip or something. I was using the below icon but that involved using xposed and xposed seems to mess things up sometimes so I'd rather not use it if I don't have to. Thanks for your help!

It's actually VERY easy once you do it once.
First, you need to know what file to edit.
The battery .png images are kept in system/app/SystemUI.apk
now, you could just change the battery images, but there are only about 10 of them.
If you want the MOD where the battery actually tells you what number the battery is at, that requires knowledge of decompiling the application.
The best way for someone to do this would be for the ROM developer, or themer, or anyone who knows how, set up the SystemUI.apk with the 1-100% battery MOD already in the SystemUI.apk, then you just edit the .png images (all 200 of them, 1-100 for phone, 1-100 for charging)
VR theme would be the best system for changing batteries.
If you want I can edit your SystemUI.apk to allow the 200 batteries, or if you just want to change the one thats there, they are in res/drawable-xxhdpi folder, you can only edit the images that are there, so basically you could say, change the stock green battery to, res orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, you get it.
Google is your best friend for learning these things.
was for me anyway, and still is, I Google all the time, usually if you have a question, someone before you had the same one and you can find your answer that way.
these are some good threads, tells you where to find images for other apps as well.
