Weel hello guys yesterday i downloaded the icon set from this section and decided to change them in the system apps apk.
Replacing the icons in the apk was not too difficult but now i have a problem, i mean i changed the Phone.apk icon and everytime i push it on the phone in the drawer i always see the old default icon and dunno how to change it.
But if u go to the path with root explorer, i see the changed icon in the description of the apk here are images to help analizing my prob.

there are typically two places that the icon needs to be changed. the place you are looking for, depending on apk, that needs to be changed is located in
res\drawable-xhdpi
for apps that do not have a drawable-xhdpi, you need to look in
res\drawable-hdpi
You need the change the images in the res/mipmap folder

will give it a try soon guys and will update coz ive have just formatted the pc right now
Ok guys ive looked in the folder there is only one place where i found the ic_launcher_phone.png file it was in drawable-xhdpi and changed it with my own custom png. there is not any other place where is some thing like that or the original icon. and it still does not change in the drawer. its looks like that the drawer has its own icons no matter what i change.

that's because you're prob looking in the Phone.apk. you would think that would be the correct place, but Google has (at least since 2.2?) associated the ic_launcher_phone.png app image with the Contacts.apk. so that's why it's not changing
open Contacts.apk and navigate to res\drawable-xhdpi and you'll see an ic_launcher_phone.png
omg i love you XD ur wright also in the contact app there is the same png ill try to change it there and see what happens thank you will post when ill try man thank you

I was bored, so I made this Android icon pack (48x48 PNG) which I call "blackplate". Maybe they'll come in handy for someone, sometime. I think I included most of the default Android icons, but feel free to suggest more and I'll try to add them.

Ummmm
How do you/can you replace just the icons? If at all possible.
Do you have a copy of the very original G1 icons?
Sweet, I will make a build tonight of Kspec Karbon with these icons.

As I understand it you'll have to replace the icon png within each and every apk file, resign and update. I might be wrong though.

I actually had your Kspec Theme in mind when I made them. I wanted something dark, stylish and edgy, and your theme fits perfectly.
I just noticed I missed the Browser icon. I will fix that tomorrow.

Ah, indeed I do. I'll get on that today.
Browser
Terminal
Superuser
Keep your suggestions coming, by all means.
So do I have permission to officially use your icons in my theme for version 1.0? I think my icons are the only real thing holding my theme back.

Title's pretty on it. I had gotten a black google search from somewhere, but I don't remember where, and now that I'm 2.2, I figured I'd jsut edit it myself.
Can someone tell me the apk that I need to look in to edit the background PNG? Any help would be appreciated.
Have you tried:
GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
or
QuickLookup.apk

Tried Googlequicksearch. Will try the other in a second. Right now I'm tricking out the radio lol.
Nope, not quick search either
Just use the search softly and use the screen space for something else. Hint - tap to open search window. Long press to use voice search. No need to be redundant.

Bugless Beast 0.4 had the translucent black search box, and I thought the mod was part of his launcher2.apk. The previous post seems to prove me wrong.
It also had a translucent version of the power switch, which i think is in settings.apk, but it might be part of the framework.
I'd love to see something like that, it was really slick.
Let me know if you throw something together.
Edit: attached the BB 0.4 Launcher2.apk.
Edit2: Riptide, thats badass.

I think that's the ticket. And naw, I don't want it to look like manups. I don't even want it transparent. Thanks for the heads up rip! You the man!
Ok, here it goes: I wanted it to flow with my top taskbar, and got the result I was looking for:
Came out nice. Great job!

You don't install system apps, you adb push them.

Got it, but I currently have the latest Google search installed, so theoretically this should overwrite the exiting file right?
The problem is I don't see the existing Google search in the /system/app folder. I pushed the above Google search, but no change. I can't tell if it even overwrote the previous. I also dont know which existing APK file I need to remove to uninstall the existing Google search).
Not sure if all that made sense.
is it possible to install this without root?
hey guys,
i am currently using stock 3.28.651.1 with few aosp changes and lock screen changes by me to better suit my needs. one thing i am not sure abt is how do i change the home screen layout ? as in the task bar at the bottom (menu, phone, widgets)
i have this
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and what i want is this
how can i extract the framework from that rom (2nd pic) to the my rom (1st pic) or is there a flash-able update that i missed looking thru these forums ?
would love for someone to point me in the right direction or teach me or make a flash-able update file.
thanx guys
So looking at the pictures you want the different bottom bar and wallpaper. the wallpaper can just be set and the bottom bar is in com.htc.resources.apk\res\drawable-port-hdpi should be able to copy the pics here and paste them into your com.htc.resources.apk file.
i just want the bottom bar. do i need to sign it ? or is it just a simple adb pull then push ?

Sorry forgot to mention that those are in Rosie.apk/drawable-hdpi/
common_mainnav_scroller1.png and
common_mainnav_scroller3.png
you can copy them to or just make them transparent.

PERFECT!!!!!! thanx bud. i really appreciate it. its looks like its supposed to now lol. thank u
Hi,
i use the rom RCmix3d Runny v4.0.
It has a tweak that allows me to link an app to the personalize button that appears on the bottom bar of the home screen (next to the phone button).
So instead of displaying the personalize menu, it lauchnes an app.
My goal is now to replace the the icon to one that looks like this app.
I found the personalize icon in system/app/Rosie.apk/drawable-port-hdpi/personalize_on.png .
I replaced it and put the new Rosie.apk in the system/app directory using Android Commander.
After restarting Rosie, nothing looks different.
Did I do anything wrong?
Is there an other location that contains this image? I didnt find anything in SystemUI.apk, com.htc.resources.apk and framework-res.apk
Replaceing the png files worked for me when i changed the signal strength bar icon.
Have you tried looking in the launcher your using for the icon. I like the app drawer icon for ics so I got it from nova launcher then created my own icons with it.

Thats what I did. I use a Sense rom with stock launcher and thats the Rosie launcher. But somehow the icons and images are spread in a lot of apk files, for example Burgundy.apk (for the pink theme, but i cant find the one for the standard theme). I also tried to unzip all apks and search for personalize, but i didnt find anything.

Sorry could not help you there. That's how I was able to find mine unzipped niva and search the drawable folders. Found it in 48x48 and had to resize to 256x256 if I recall correctly.

Decompile the APK using APKTool and look around, you might have to go to *appname*/res/_dpi
('_' stands for the letter like xdpi or something)
And hit thanks

You have to sign it to work Use SignAPK or something, or if you have root, simply use any root explorer and copy the app to /data/app and fix permissions either manually, or via recovery
And hit thanks on my posts where I helped
