I installed a froyo based rom to my HTC Desire . I thought that when i install a rom , the htc sense will remain same. Is there a mod to have htc sense on this phone?
No, nope, and not a hope.
Why ? By the way do you have a HTC Desire rom adviice to me ?

FroYo is stock Android and HTC haven't developed Sense to work with it yet. They'll release a Sense-based FroYo ROM once they're ready
There are some alternate apps that replace alot of the sense stuff, the only thing im really missing is the sense camera, do some searching on the apps forum and you can find alot of stuff.
if you miss sense that much, downgrade to a 2.1 rom, alot of good ones out there. I prefer to stay with froyo (even with the current flaws that still need to be fixed) due to the speed increase and flash
We have got many good developers here working on different ROMS.
I just would like to know what ROM are you all using at the moment and why.
I used most of the time Sense rom from Leedroid. I love his boot image and the fact it is sense rom. I tried Sense HD and I like it, but until the camera works is no good for me for day to day use. Last couple of days I use MIUI and it is really different but nice (like iphone OS but on better device)
I've used Defrost, Opendesire, Villainrom, SupervillainHD and Oxygen. Like the ASOP roms the best, as they are the fastest, allow me to choose the addons more (not 3 or more programs for one task, if i don't want to use Sense apps), and are more versatily (at least, appear to me to be so).
Moved to general as this is in no way pertaining to ROM development.
fair enough. I just tought the poll might help people to choose a rom to use/try.
I am using pinky desire classsic at the moment .
CM 6.1 RC - cause simply I hate to update alot. I'm considering it the latest satisfying my needs!
using pays sense rom
tried auraxtsense rom, but reverted back to pays
it has the best dialer i have seen in a rom.
would like to try sense HD, but wont until they fix the camera

By sense rom he probably mean roms like leedroid etc.
On that assumption I voted stock as I'm running the stock 2.29.405.2 WWE ROM
Why? As it does all I need it to
OpenDesire
I went from stock ROM to OpenDesire 4.0.36. I do not miss Sense at all and BT keyboard now works (why, HTC, oh why?). The only thing I miss from Sense is the weather widget.
Too bad OpenDesire will not be updated any longer as from the final 4.1 version. I hope it gets Gingerbread (2.3) in the final build.
Leedroid, because it has apps2sd by default and is pretty clean and has some other nice little touches (but still pretty close to stock) like a transparent notification drawer
I tried all rom types, but in the end I return to Sense. People who say AOSP or Cyanogen are faster have clearly never used a sense rom. It's at least on par and scrolling is smoother.

yes that's exactly what I mean
Teppic74's Rom and tweaks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997
With the GPU and SD card patched kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819601
And a theme I made using UOT kitchen.
I like sense, and I wanted something relatively close to stock but with A2SD and a few other bits and pieces.
So I thought Skyraider (3.5 and Athena) were Gingerbread based ROMs. I've been looking around, but I'm still a little confused. Which ones are Gingerbread based ROMS and which ones are currently the most bug-free?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865331 is this the only one?
Thanks
Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you'll feed him for a lifetime. So, I'm going to directly answer your question, but also give you some more background so that in the future, you'll have a better understanding of how these ROMs work.
There are 3 primary types of ROM out for the Incredibe; Sense, Sense(less), and AOSP.
Sense - A sense-based ROM, obviously, has HTC Sense. These ROMs are extracted from a phone, then ported to the Incredible, and/or customized as needed. Most Sense ROMs are actually based off an official Incredible release (Redemption, Virtuous, Skyraider Sense, etc.). Some are based off the Evo (Redemptive Revolution), while others are ports from the Desire Z or Desire HD. In order for a Sense-based ROM to be 2.3 (gingerbread), HTC has to first port Sense to Gingerbread, which they haven't done yet. So, there's no Sense-based 2.3 ROM out, yet.
Sense(less) - Really, all a Sense(less) ROM is, is a Sense-based ROM with Sense elements removed or hidden. This is to preserve the stability of a Sense-ROM while offering the look and customization of an AOSP ROM.
AOSP - Android Open Source Project; These are the ROMs where a developer takes the a stock Android version, ports it to your phone, and may or may not customize the crap out of it. These are the ROMs where you'll get Gingerbread. The most popular seems to be Cyanogen(mod). CM7 is in the nightly phase, which is an advanced beta, but very stable with only minor issues. It's currently based on Android 2.3.2
So, to answer your question, there are a few Gingerbread ROMs out, none of which use Sense. Cyanogen(mod) is a good place to start.
Your post should be a sticky or a FAQ. This makes perfect sense and really cleared up any confusion I had. Thanks!

Removing gingerbread rom HELP!
I am new to the xda websites and forums alltogether. I rooted my phone about 3 weeks ago, and found a rom by xda to try an alpha version of gingerbread. I need to return my phone to either the rooted stage it was previously to adding the gingerbread, or completely unroot it altogether. I imagine that someone has probably posted about this already, but I was unable to find it. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Please excuse my idiocy.
Here is probably the best place to start researching:

Cyanogen also has a stable build which is based on Gingerbread 2.3.3 where the nightly build is currently based on 2.3.4 and I can attest to the fact that build #108 is bug free.

hey .. i just wanted to ask which is the latest and best stable ..non stock rom for htc desire..
..
.. i wldnt mind htc sense ..but ..i do not like the outlook and interface of the stock rom...any advice...
I would prefer "RCMixS_v1.6.2_A2SD+_BravoHboot"...u can try it and obviously new kingdom lockscreen is awsome.....and still didn't find any bugs
... think I might stick this phrase in my sig. "Go and try roms out yourself. It is down to personal preference." Or go look at other topics like this.
cyanogenmod 7 is fast and stable but no 720p... on sense based roms, bluetooth, incoming caller id identification are messy.

Agreed
+1
@best rom
hey, i rekon go to the rom page for the desire and then find what suits you, most of the roms have a preview picture and if not, it would be a stock or you should be able to find on youtube or some website for a full run down of the rom. but my favrioutie rom is gingervillian because it is fast and the taste of gingerbread xD
Suggest for HTC DESIRE
For HTC DESIRE
I suggest F1 Gingerbread V2
Android 2.3.4 only 65mb within multilanguage.Very very fast and not any in bug..

Oxygen for non HTC sense rom!
Hey I have used a few ROMs now and I am wondering what the best ROM, at least for the Desire is. Now I know that probably is opinion.
Looking for a ROM that runs the smoothest, has the most features packed into it without having any bloat crapware on it and is the most updated, with new market etc..
Thanks.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
