[REQUEST/SUGGESTION] Volume key profiles. - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Something I miss from Sense, is the ability to on the volume keys, lower to silence, and then if you lower a little more, you can put the phone into vibrate.
Don't know if this is native to Android or Sense, but it would be a little thing, but pretty awesome to have.

Check out volume control +. It's an app that does some sweet stuff like that. It can also sync your notification and ringer volume sobyou don't have to adjust them separately. Why that's not built in I have no idea.

Nope. Not without actually writing one apparently. Shame really, as I love it too, but swithed away because there is no widget.
It integrates perfectly into the notification tray, so just pull down to access the controls. I like how you can even control from the lockscreen without having to unlock.
Guys use, Cubed!!

yes true, but i would love to have it fill a section of my homescreen so i can look at the album art
sounds good. too bad samsung did't go all the way with the intergration by creating a widget for it. but the fact that you can access the music controls while the phone screen is locked is very good. i like how they implemented it.
Alright guys, I don't care that there is no widget for the player, but I DO care that I can't change the songs with the volume buttons, which is REALLY annoying

As their name says, volume buttons are to control the sound volume, so what do you expect...
Mixzing is a rather good music player I found. Sorry I'm aware it means you wont be using the default Samsung one, but this one is loaded with features, has a custom EQ, 3 widgets and you can control it from the lock screen. I paid for the nicer version of it as it's something I now use everyday.

I'd really like something like this. Like on the iPhone headphones when you double click the button on the headphones it changes song, saves you from having to go into your pocket all the time.

I expect when my screen is Off, holding VolUp or VolDown to change the songs.
This is a natural way to do it.

And if I want to change the volume, what should I do? Unlock the device first ?
Shaking the device to go to the next song is much better I think.
Yeah... especially great for runners.. changing the song every 5 sec when you run fast! great idea!
Do you change the volume every 5 sec when you run?
In jpk, volume works with screen locked.

Guys, stop pulling legs.
My 5 year old WM2003SE phone has all the customizable buttons for everything. Hold the camera button and I program it to start the music player. Several other customizations.
I still can't believe on this "advanced", so called "flexible" phone, I don't have the option of customizing buttons (other than power button to end the call).
Worse, the music player plays every junk after it has to scan for music and video each time we restart the phone or unmount and mount the memory cards.
I would like to see a way to tell the phone to scan only particular folders and best it should SAVE the scanned items rather than being ABSOLUTE DUMB to scan each time it restarts the phone or mount a card. WHY SHOULD IT SCAN in the first place? We could just tell it like every other phone or music player app to "Search a folder" when needed!
I would appreciate some discussion on this. Sorry for diverting from this thread. I could start a new one to discuss, if needed.
There is a way to change the songs with HOLDING (not just pressing) the VolUp button, but nobody wants to give me a hand. I need some developers help.
I don't know how to decompile apk files or something like that.

I understand you, its like on every Sony Ericsson's phone.
Holding "-" - change song to next
Holding "+" - change song to previous
Pressing "-" - reducing volume
Pressing "+" - increasing volume
I want it more than android 2.2
Cool, I'd too like to see this implemented! Also, double-tap on the headset's button to change the track would be nice.

Motorola's S9 have control button on the earphone, you can change songs with them whenever you want (wasn't working with Android on vogue)
you might want to check them out!

[Mod request] volume buttons also change tracks

So I ride a motorcycle everyday to work and stuff and I listen to my phones music on my ride but I have normal headset with isolation features that stay in my ear tor the windy ride but when its on shuffle and a song I don't want to listen comes on I have to bear with it and listen to it.
My request is this. Is it possible to mod the volume keys to also change the track of the htc sense music app or android app.
In essence it would have 4 options
Press volume up key - changes volume by 1 click
Hold volume up key - changes to next track
Press volume down key - changes volume by 1 click
Hold volume down key - brings track back/ plays previous track
I think this would be awesome to eliminate the need of taking out the phone out of your pocket to fo this when u can press the buttons through your jeans.
Ya feel me!

[Q] Is there an e-reader with shoulder button support?

Yes, i know thats not what the play is for, but sometimes i want to use it for e-books.
Is there an app that allows me to turn pages with my shoulder buttons?
PLAY around with the button changer apps
I used the XDA App to post this, what did you use?
Played around with them but could not get ihem to work. I use CM7.
Do they even allow remapping to the volume keys?
Well there was an app, but doesn't support new FW.
no point in making now since ICE CREAM SAMMICH is coming next month. Give time till NOVEMBER and in sure there will be an app for it.
I used the XDA App to post this, what did you use?
And how would waiting for till November solve anything?
Back to my question, is there an e reader out there that allows you to chose wat buttons turn the page? Seems to me like that would be a basic feature, but the ones i tried didn't have it.
Keep in mind that unlike volume buttons, shoulder buttons are by no mean a standard feature of Android phones. It's not a "basic feature" at all.
The user hatcyl is working on an app to give extra functions to the buttons. That would be your best bet
I am not saying shoulder buttons are a basic feature, but i am saying that choosing what button goes to the next page is a basic feature.
There are tons of different phones out there with facebook button and multimedia buttons. Not to mention camera buttons. Or even the dpads.
Is there no ebook reader app that lets me pick what keys turn the page?

I've tried Cool Reader, FBReader and Aldiko to no avail . The only common feature for Android smartphones are the volume buttons. There are more readers though, like Moon+, Laputa and Mantano.

This has been my solution.
I used it to set both shoulder buttons to volume down.
Hope it helps everyone else.

Do you need to reboot every time you change the mapping or does it work without reboot please. Also if I map sholder buttons to dpUp and dpDown for example and then start a game which has it's own function attached to shoulder buttons, what will be prevailing: my own mapping or the in-game mapping? Thank you in advance.
You have to do a "Hot reboot" to change the buttons. This takes about a minute.
I haven't tried gaming with this settings. I always change the buttons back when i'm done.

Volume control app

I'm looking for a volume control app that put a volume control right next to the battery and WiFi display on the top of the screen. All the volume control app I have tried put the volume control on the main screen. Let me know if other is a app the put the volume control next to the battery display

There are volume widgets that can be placed on the home screen for controlling the volume of your device.
I think he meant the volume buttons on some cheap tablets that is integrated in the status bar. A plus (+) and a minus (-) button beside the clock and all.. It is not an app but is included in some chinese roms.

There are two ways you can achieve this:-
Option 1 ~ Download a Volume Control app (Volume Ace for eg) and place it as a folder with other icons in your Docked icons (what I mean here is drop more than one icon in the same place as one of your Docked icons to create a docked folder icon.
Option 2 ~ Download Elixer2 and create a Notification icon whereby every time you pull down the notification window you will then see a volume icon displayed. Simply tap this and it releases a pop-up window where you can control all 6 aspects of volume on your Nexus 7.
Or you could try this.....

Audio Control had full Jelly Bean support
Audio Control is my favorite volume management app. I've tried them all and nothing compares. Plus there is full support for Jelly Bean included.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.matthew.rice.volume.master
My favourite is Volume Control https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.VolumeControl
Control volume from every app.
Place the thin volume indicator e.g. at the top center border.
With Android 4.2 you then have 3 menus when swiping across the notification bar.
I use Settings Extended, it does add the controls to the left hand notification panel though. I turn off all the un-needed controls that are now duplicated in the 4.2 settings drop down and just leave the volumes one. Its good because it lists more volume sliders than the stock volume control.

Someone told me a while ago about a button on the right hand side of the nexus.
Pressing up turns the volume up, and down turns it down.
I never would have spotted it if I hadn't have been told.
I've been using it loads since.
I think they are just scared it might wear off, just like what happen to my lg optimus one.

If you are using landscape mode most of the time (I am), it becomes annoying to try and reach. I do use a case though, so the buttons are harder to push.
Another option I use is 'Control Panel for Android'.
It gives you immediate control over a number of items including all the different Volume Levels.
To control the Volume level for say Ringer simply slide down the notification panel and tap on the Volume icon. It will then bring up a transparent showing all 6 different volume levels. Pick the Ringer and slide the volume down to the required level.
It truly is a great app. You can control a number of different things all by one touch ~ Wifi, Bluetooth, Sound, Vibrate, Auto Rotation, Mobile Data, Airplane Mode, Sound Effects, Haptic Feedback, Dial Tone, Auto-Time, Ringtone, Volume, Ring-Mode, Brightness, Screen Timeout, Screen Stay On and the main Control Panel
I should of added in my post Control Panel for Android is also mentioned by the author here in xda-devs.
Worth looking at the comments as well.

Expandable audio control

Hi guys,
I really liked a feature on ICS that it is possible to regulate your ringer volume by pressing vol+ button once and then setting it by sliding finger on popup menu. How happy was I when I saw a feature on cm9 to make this menu expandable and manipulate trough all volumes (Ringer, notifications, media etc.). Now, due to stability im back on cm7 and heres my question. Is it possible to flash an addon which make me possible to have an ics style volume popup menu?
Sorry for my bad english. Szotaa
