you need to install the a2sd option,ad2sdx is only supported for cm7/r2 hboot, also you do not have a swap on this rom

Where do i find this a2sd option, and do i start it in recovery mode? and another question,
cm7/r2 hboot what is the different? and i see there is 1 IMG file and 1 .Zip file.

Dont use a windows program to partition a sd card for android. Use Gparted or 4ext recovery. You dont need a swap partition. If you still on stock when installing the RoM select custom install and then select app2sd option. If you have CM7/r2 Hboot you can then use the xd2sdx.
CM7/r2 is a Nand partition that makes the data part bigger then stock, on stock after fresh install of a RoM you left with 150MB for apps on CM7/r2 its 287mb.
On xd2sdx version all system files stay on this Nand data and your ext4 becomes the storage data so when you look at phone storage you will see what ever your ext4 size is 1.5GB free

Sorry to say, but why don't you use the search function before asking? You can read a lot in the ROM's thread.

While installing, don't tick "Typical" (or "Default", can't remember right now), but "Custom".

Most of the times this is a matter of incompatible or too slow SD-Card. Are you using A2SD or AD2SDX? And what kind of SD-Card? Make and Class are important.

Hey Guys,
I have a CM7 R2 Hboot and used the Runnymede AIO 3.0.5 with XD2SDX (and it works perfectly) before. But when I try to install the New ROM I can not choose the AD2SDX.
In addition, after Installation, the Desire is not starting, it hangs in Boot Animation for one hour.
Whats the problem?
And, what is more worse, I tried to recover my old Image and It's not working..
So now I have a problem.. Anyone can help me?

The new installer detects your Hboot automaticly. Some people have problem there. This issue will be solved shortly.
The use your backup you need a full wipe before restoring. It should definitely work.
Good luck.

Dual booting on the Desire GSM

Has anyone tired to dual boot on their desire?
I am looking for a way to do it for free if possible.
This one is for Desire HD so I don't think it works on the desire
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173309&page=1
This one requires a market app but I am not sure if it even works.
http://www.inspiredgeek.com/2011/08...htc-desire-hd-thunderbolt-etc-complete-guide/
Can anyone please confirm if either of these method works? or if you have a tried and tested method for the desire.. can you please share?
the boot manager app should work on desire
it says in supported devices:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.drx2.bootmanager
+1 for BootManager
I've had CM7 [Phone ROM] and MIUI [SD-Car ROM] dual booting.
MIUI seemed to work well on a class-2 SD-Card, although a class-6 or higher is recommended.
It takes around 400MB of space on your SD-Card for the Boot.img and the Data.img and other files.
I'm sure this thing will mess up everything.
It will be either slow or it will consume too much memory.

BootManager doesn't at all. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th ROMs run from the SD-Card, so its speed depends on which class of SD-Card you have. Like I say, I have the lowest class of SD-Card and MIUI ran very smoothly indeed, while taking up no more RAM than a normal MIUI installation.
Didn't even think this was possible. Going to try this weekend. Thanks for the tip.

I don't think you do. I'm sure I remember using this before I achieved S-OFF, I'm pretty sure only root and an SD-Card with ~500MB free is required.
Thanks guys, I did try boot manager but I can't get it to work. it does not seems to allow me to fully flash the ROM.
I choose install zip and then tell it to use one of the slots and tick the boxes to do a wipe. then it goes thru the motions and tells me it cannot find boot.img.
Are you s-off. I checked it, you indeed need s-off to let this work properly
yes I am s-off and I have the stock hboot. 1GB EXT3 and 3GB of free space. the sdcard is class 4.
I am not sure if the ROM in the NAND affects it,. I am using the desire stock Gingerbread rom.

Hear is a cool tip!
If your flashing oxygen or another small rom, go into settings and set the system mb size as 100, and data as, well whatever you like, as it's on the sd, you can choose the sizes of your partitions! (you can leave the other settings empty) Just don't make system/data too small or the rom won't boot.
This way you can save space on your sd card, as standard it ll put a 250mb .img file on your sd but only use 95 mb of it etc.
I've used it a while and the only issue is that the roms you want to put on the sd have to support either ext 2 or ext4, (sd partitions are not required though).
Also it's a bit of a battery killer when using an sd rom.
Also I can confirm,
Leedroid 2.4 no a2sd works well. Set as ext2.
Leedroid 3.0.8.2 works but the a2sd part didn't. Set as ext2.
Cyanogen works great. Set as ext4.
Miui. Can't remember ext.
oxygen 2.2.1. Set as ext2.
Just to confirm MIUI.
I tried the latest MIUI_Au on Ext-4 and it works nicely

[Q] Cool3D Sense 3.5; Cool3D RunnyMede v2

Hi, I have been trying for quite some time to flash this rom onto my Desire but I keep getting caught in a bootloop. The link to the rom is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1250815. I have a Telus HTC Desire, I have S-Off and am using CWM-AlphaRev Recovery v2.5.1.8. My hboot is CM7r2 and I have been searching the previously mentioned thread but can't figure out why there is bootloop. Can somebody walk me through the steps on how to fix this issue?
Did you partition your SD card with ext partition?

No I did not. How do you even do this? Also, will that delete everything on my sd?

You have that option in AlphaRev Recovery v2.5.1.8.
And yes,its format all data on SD card so make backup of your data
After I partition my sd, do I put everything back on to it and then try the flash again?

Yes that will work.
Unfortunately the op in the thread does not state that an external partition is needed. But yes, an ext4 partition of 1gb will be enough to get the rom to work.
Alright. I will try this out and post later with my result. Thanks guys!
Use an ext partition with minimum 1 Gigabyte to make sure there is enough space.
SwiftKeyed from dGB using Transparent XDA App
It worked but it seems to be a bit laggy. I'm not sure if this is because it is a beta still, or I did the partitioning wrong. I chose 1 Gb as my first option to partition, but then it gives an option after saying 0M, 32M, 64M, etc. I chose the 32M, is that still right?

[Q] not enough free internal storage

Hey there,
I'm new here and I installed this ROM on my Desire:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315961&page=101
Now my problem is that there are only 14 MB free Space of internal storage.
My EXT partition is 2048 MB and I installed "App2SD Pro"
If I open App2Sp Pro I only see 2 of the preinstalled apps
First is "ADFree" in "Phone only" category (I moved it to the SD card)
Second is "ASTRO" in "On phone" category.
Why it's unpossible for me to move the preinstalled apps (like "My Tracks" "teeter" "Facebook" "Fb Chat" and so on) to the SD card?
Greetings from Germany
Daniel Luib
Try S2E.
It allows to move apps, data and cache to the EXT partition.
You'll find it on the Market
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Hey,
I've tried it. Without success.
I chose all options to move on SD card. And then I pushed the "menu" button on my Desire and pushed the option "Reboot" in the App because it appeared below each option to move on SD that an reboot is required.
But my Desire didn't reboot.
Then I rebootet it normal. After reboot I opened the App and there still was the message that a reboot is required.
Do you have another suggestion?

Why you use App2SD with this rom? Runnymede has A2SD++ on it (then moves apps to ext partition) and may be that App2SD (wich moves apps to fat32 partition) will conflict with it.
Titanium in the first page tells you the usage of the ext partition.
Is your ext partition an ext4? Is it primary and after the Fat32 partition?
Finally, I don't think that is possible to move preinstalled apps to ext with A2SD++, but only your downloaded apps and only the relevant part of it, a little (very little) part remains on the phone. Anyway may be i'm wrong.
Yes, I have an ext4 partition but I don't know wether it's before or after the fat32 partition.
But if it's impossible to move preinstalled apps to SD the ROM I installed is silly because there are only about 14 MB of internal storage left.
I'll try it once again.
Another question:
The link from my first Post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315961
Do I have to install the "HBOOT CM7r2" version or the "STOCK HBOOT" version?
How can I find out?

are you s-off or s-on? it sounds like you are s-on. therefore, after flashing the rom, flash the rom converter that is available as an addon on the first page. you should get more storage.

s-off is basically full root. when you s-off, you can change the system partition of your phone to get more space for data internally. reboot into bootloader to find out, but i'm pretty sure that you are s-on.
It's S-ON.
How can I flash it so S-OFF.
Is this working with "unrevokedĀ³"?
unrevoked is to root. use alpharev. search for it.
I've downloaded it and I'll seach tomorrow for an instruction and then I make my Desire S-OFF =)

[Q]Freezing system. How to instal CM7r2 ROM with all apps in the phone and no sd-ext

Hi,
I cannot find an answer for my problem. I have rooted Desire. I have installed 10 different ROMs on 2 different sd cards and my phone is regularly freezing at least twice per day. Phone dos not answer for calls, screen is black and I cannot switch it on, I have to remove battery. It happens that it freezes 5 or more times per day. It is really annoying. I have no idea why it happens. Freezing is wierd because the screen is black and not responsive but e.g. radio is still playing. First I thought it is ROM's fault so installed few of them. Then I changed sd card but this also didn't help. I think the problem may be in storing apps in sd card because if there is no apps installed the phone is working fine.
Please correct me if I am wrong. Is it possible to install custom Sense ROM on e.g. CM7r2 so there is more space for apps but without sd-ext partition? I have tried to do it with one custom ROM but it did not even start. So how to remove/disable/switch off app2sd, data2sd or int2sd from custom ROMs? Or is there a CM7r2 ROM that is not using sd card for apps storing? I don't want to return to stock hboot and stock system because then I have too little space for apps (147M) but with CM7r2 hboot (287M) should be enough.
I am not sure if my thinking is correct, I will appreciate any help. Maybe there is another solution for freezing system problem?
Piotr
My phone now:
Recovery: 4ext
S-Off, CM7r2
Radio: 5.17.05.23
hboot 6.93.1002
Card: 8GB class 10
You may be having a faulty sd-ext partition. How did you partition your sd-card?
Any AOSP GB rok should fit in the cm7r2 hboot. Just delete a2sd scripts from the system>etc>init.d folder, and you shouldn't have problems.

Thanks. I partitioned sd card using linux, alligment is checked. Should i partition it using 4ext recovery? does INT2SD has scripts in the same folder? if I remove sd-ext partition totaly will android still work?
Roms with int2sd won't work without an ext partition.
And yes, follow the guide in my sig for a correct partition.
It works now!
Before I was always using Sense ROMs and all of them were freezing on my phone. I have done sd card partitioning again using your guide and I have installed system you use MildWild.Since I installed it I didn't have any problems! Thank you very much. I don't know if it is partitioning or new system that helped but most important is that works fast and stable for 2 days now with all my apps installed!
This is great I don't remember when was the last time my phone was working for 2 days in a row without freezing and taking battery off! So much better now
Thanks!!
No problem.
Installing CM7/r2 HBOOT
This is actually realy simple,
Before you do anything, Backup everything PLEASE.
This will erase your current rom, so you have to install it again.
go to alpharev.nl and scroll down till you see Bravo CM7 r2. Click on Download. Not the regular Download,
But the download after that. it's called : PB99IMG_cm7r2. Download that, and remove the _cm7r2 text. So
that the file is named PB99IMG.
Put your SD Card into your computer, and take this file ( PB99IMG) onto your SD card.Boot into the bootloader, ( By pressing Volume down + Power ) and wait. it will say something like : '' Would you like to update? '' Volume up for ''yes'' Volume down for ''no'' .
do ''yes'' . After that , it will ask you to reboot. You want to do that.
After that, i faced the problem that 4EXT Recovery didn't work. Solution: Go again into bootloader, and select clear storage.

[Q] Cant sign to google account

First of all sorry to disdurb anyone with my issue, but tried everything and nothing works for me so I am kind of desperate here.
Well I am an owner of an HTC Desire (GSM) and had problem with low internal memory so I googled and found out a method to extend my internal memory to 2GB . I installed revolutionary which makes the phone S-OFF and installs clockworkmod I guess. Then downloaded the Cyanmodgen (cm-7.2.0.1-bravo.zip) also downloaded the Data2SDinstalerv1.3_GB.zip. I partioned a 8 GB SD Kingston microSD card to 4GB FAT32 and 4GB ext4 using Gparted. Installed everything with this order in recovery mod from the FAT32. Everything work perfectly. I also didnt touch the google apps at all and downloaded the latest version from goo.im (gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip) and only after that tried to sign in to my google account. But it seems that I cant sign in. It keep telling me I entered the wrong e-mail and password. The e-mail and password works just fine with a pc but dont work with the HTC desire. I am guessing that the google apps from the goo.im are an old version that wont work ? What wrong I am doing? There is something like a code bar I am seeing everywhere I search for a solution. What is this that for and what do I do with it?
Please help cause right now I cant sign to my google acount therefore no google play and all the rest google stuff for me.
4gb ext4 is too big. Should be 1-1.5gb max. Install 4ext recovery. Its much better. Repartition your SD card, wipe everything and re-install. Should work fine.

That is the md5 checksum. Once you've downloaded something you can look at it's md5. If it is the same as what is shown on the download site it means that the file has been downloaded properly. If not, it means that the file has been corrupted somehow and that you should redownload it.

I think you helped me. Every time I tried to sign a framework troubleshooting appeared. I installed the ext4 recovery as it is and and now phone is actually trying to sign in ... I havent signed in yet cause I dont have a wifi connection here and battery is off. Now to my questions.
When I open ext4 recovery there is nothing inside. Should I uninstall Clockworkmod and then install ext4 recovery? in recovery mod its still the Clockworkmod. Did ext4 recovery changed something with the framework and now its working ok (yet I dont see anything in the ext4 recovery screen- just black screen). How to uninstall clockworkmod?

Your recovery has got nothing to do with your signing into Google account.
I recommended 4ext recovery to partition your card correctly with 1-1.5gb of ext4 partition size.
When you install 4ext recovery from the app (search for the apk here), it will overwrite the existing clockworkmod recovery.

I have partioned a 16 GB class10 SanDisk SD card with GParted to 13GB fat32 and to 1,5 GB ext4 volumes.
I am kind of desperate here every ROM I use it ends up crashing. What I mean is I install the rom but when I am using the phone I am getting lots lots of failure message or phone reboot by itself or stop responding at all . Application this stopped responding and aplication that stopped responding.
I finally kind of making progress with the Supernova version but some issues also there programs crashing but less times and a sign saying my SD card has only read properties something like that.
Should I do a partion with the ext4 recovery programm from my phone? Can this be the problem? If so is there a quide for that?
please help

Yes. Gparted is known to have issues with the desire partitioning. There's a good guide in the stickies (you'll have to look) but basically flash 4ext recovery, reboot to recovery and remove all partitions and start again. 1st partition 1 or 1.5 gb (not 3, or 5...) rest fat 32. Wipe everything and install your Rom of choice .

This is simply not true, it is the most reliable tool when used properly using all the guides available.
4ext is also reliable, just easier to use
