Guys, while I'm installing my old apps from GS II to my GN (ITL41F.I9250ZSKKB, 4.0.1, rooted, stock rom & recovery), suddenly I have this odd problem which all letters got corrupted, after a series of try in errors, I found that it is somewhat related to Pulse Reader, all things went smooth again after I removed PR, any of u encountered this problem? Could we work a list of app which would induce this problem?
Rom: 4.0.1 ITL41F.I9250ZSKKB
App which would induce display issue
1) Pulse News
2) Polaris Office (maybe)
3) the combination of news ticker Widgets and Pulse News installed

I'm finding a lot of my old apps from my Gingerbread phone are not working on ICS. Too bad there wasn't a compatibility option in ICS where it could emulate older versions of Android. This would probably slow the performance of the app but would get functionality out of said app until an ICS version of the app became available.

I've got the same problem without having Pulse Reader installed. If the problem is related to some app it'd be very difficult to find out which one is causing it. Therefore I second building a list of incompatible apps.

We've already got a list going. I remember seeing a thread of incompatible apps.
I'm using pulse reader just fine. Did u do a fresh install from the market or restore the app from the old phone? Cauz I know some apps in the market have different apks for different phones.

mmm i didnt recieved any notification and it didnt get any update o.o
is it maybe becouse i've a custom rom?
I haven't received anything that requires me to update Market into Google Play too. And I'm using Stock ROM...
I got my update 2 days ago...... it just the same thing though, only change the name .
me too as of now i dont received Google Play update...im using stock DXLA2 firmware
I heard Google is sending the update to small portions of users to avoid problems with too many requests to the servers.
That means everyone will get it sooner or later, mine updated 2 days ago.
better to wait
Update yesterday. But only the name changed. Market is the same.

Hi All,
It will be updated it self
This is the apk file, put it in system/app
and remove the older apk
I'm using the black themed google play in my SG3
I will ported to SGW (Black Notes) after i get borrowed the phone
Anyway for updating, there is new ICS Music Player
Go search for it *i already have it
Regards
--
I suggest those who want the update automatically reboot their sgw or manually install by following Rio Saputro
I don't like the new name Google Play at all and the new icon is bad too. They wipe out from the new icon that lovely green robot :-(
For me these changes are pointless. They don't repair any bug nor bring any new features.
try these steps to force update:
1. In Manage Applications > All, locate Market then Clear data
2. Run any of your Google apps like Youtube, Google+, etc.
3. Run Market. Your Market should now update.
ok .. lets wait all together for the new no-sense update!
The new market is supposed to have a feature where you can purchase songs, movies etc from your android phone, but I don't think it's available to certain countries. For most of us we still only get normal app market.
i got it just now like 15mins ago..everyone restart ur wonders
cant see any difference tho..can anybody fill me in?

Has anyone else experienced issues with the GPS having a hard time locating after the update? It used to work flawlessly on 402 but now it's pretty much worthless.

GPS has been normal for me since update. Just checked with the GPS test app and it located just fine.

Went into the app's settings > "Update AGPS" and it improved to this:
GPS fine here. And there.

GPS works fine for me here. I'm on stock 4.0.4 yakju rooted. I think GPS initialization is even faster than 4.0.3 (EBMod)
Fine for me too. Faster locking actually. Are you using a custom rom, kernel?
No, completely stock and not rooted. Maybe it's just my imagination, just seems like before the update it worked great and now it can't find me. Even did my update ota.

I too have found myself with the location problem... Maps Google+ Facebook location based features do not work. I have however noticed that when you switch down to 2G it locates fine. I dont know if its data stored in that partition thats causing it maybe, if any devs can chime in and the help would be greatly appreciated.

Just an update after troubleshooting I stopped by a T-Mobile store and had my sim card replaced and that did it for me. Once its replaced make sure you cycle off and on a few times.

Hi Guys, I am new to Galaxy S3,
So far my experience has been so so. When I have been having problems with the music app, for example, once playing a track i cant pause, or if it is paused, i cant resume, app the kind of crashes. Is this normal
Also when i have hardware overlay disabled for play dead trigger, i cant watch hd youtube vidoes in full screen, the picture freezes.
any suggestions. I have tried 3 hard resets now and sprint wont replace it beacuse i cant recreate the music problem in store and they say youtube is app issue not phone

It's this Google Music? This is an issue that started for me with the most recent update to Google Music a couple of weeks ago. I rolled back to an earlier version using titanium backup and the problem is gone. Might have to wait for another update our use a different player.

nah its the stock app.
Both of those are problems with the apps not the phone or jellybean.
Contact app developer (doubt it'll do anything) but it is what it is.

Hello,
Has anyone tried the Android 4.4 KitKat Launcher released for Nexus 5 on their Note 8.0?
"To install the new launcher (Google Home), you’ll have to install 3 different apps – Google Play Services 4.0, Google Search, and the Google Home .apk. "
If so, is it working ok? how's the performance with the new launcher?
Thanks for your help :good:
I'm currently using the launcher as my daily driver, and aside from a couple bugs (app drawer seems crowded, and the keyboard pops up randomly upon returning to home), it runs rather well. I'm enjoying this psuedo-Kitkat UI!

Wrong section..sorry..
The launcher runs fine. and looks ok,
I have gotten too used to touchwiz to like anything else,
however, this can also be used as an app i.e hitting back button does not close it.In that way it provides most of its functionality on demand and serves good for hands-free operation when needed, though s-voice did that kinda similar too.
App Drawer does not have any menus or settings so nothing much to write home about there, other than it's obviously different.
I have it set up minimally for reading stuff only (news and books) and here are screen shots.

EDIT: I just Realized that I replied to an almost amonth old post.
Wife has been complaining that her keyboard hasn't been responsive, that its not picking up her swypes. I tried it out and I noticed that its just laggy all around. Opening/closing apps, swiping through screens. Everything is just so slow. Has anyone else noticed this?
I've been running smooth like buttah since the update. But, I flashed the update tar so my system was wiped clean. Also have done the usual tweaks (freezing/Uninstaller crap, turning off unneeded notifications, etc)

Any suggestions for which ROM?
I've always run rooted stock on my S3 but the 4.4.2 update (installed via cnexus method) is doing weird things. Sometimes it's fast. Sometimes it crashes. Usually while I'm trying to take an important call.
My criteria: stability, speed, and assurance of periodic updates, in that order. No nightlies on that device, just something that works well. It's my work phone and I want to make it last for a year.
Thanks,
BJ

I would solve the problem under stock first, otherwise you may still have the problem no matter what ROM you use. Try Odining the stock ND8 tar again? Make sure the MD5 hash matches what you downloaded for it.
Maybe it's an app you have installed? Try just adding downloaded apps one or a few at a time.
I've successfully run stock rooted ND8, Wicked X v6+, and now on Singularity.
