Hey guys, i recently rooted and unlocked the bootloader of my xperia play. i tried to install the CM7 FreeXperia mod, i can install the boot.img via fast boot,i can go to recovery and install the update.zip. I reboot, i can see the FXP logo, but then when the CM7 logo/intro whatever, it stucks there :/ . What do i have to do? I am a noob:/
You need to flash the kernel first, read the first post in the cyanogen mod thread

Also don't forget to wipe data from recovery before installing CM7. That's always been a big reason for not being able to get past CM7 startup logo.
Type "fastboot erase userdata" into the command prompt after flashing the kernel.
If your a noob as you say then read read read and then read some more. There is alot of information about what you want to know in these forums.

Hi guys
I just receive my xperia play and i have some questions about rooting and istalling new roms
I already root the device by using zergRush method http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1093 soi can use apps such as titanium
But now i can't get to recovery because after installing rom manager, clockword for xperia play is not there. I was looking the dev section and i saw the clockworkmod recovery of team freexperia but i have no idea on how to install it because they said not to flash it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130639
Can someone please help me, i am a newbie with the phone and i rally dont want to mess things up. Also when i hold down vol down with power on my evo 3d and inspire it gots me to the Hboot i think, but on the play even after the root i have nothing
Thanks guys
Recovery is part of the kernel (boot partition) in the PLAY, so you can't install the recovery by itself. You have to unlock the bootloader then install a custom kernel that contains the recovery. The image that people say not to flash is a kernel that ONLY has the recovery and no boot, so you're only suppose to fastboot boot from that image (meaning you must be connected to the computer every time you want to use it).

Thanks for clearing that up. Quite different from my HTC Z and I wondered how to get recovery on the Play. Don't feel the need to unlock bootloader quite yet though. I'm happy with the stock launcher.
i have just unlocked the device bootloader and it works, but the wired thing is that i cant make the device appear on the computer from the usb connection.
what can i do?
More details wouldn't go a miss.
i cant understand why it happend, and i couldnt reach the sdcard without the phone (no SD available) so i used an old phone with the same connection as the arc and reached the sd card threw him to put the files for cm7 flashing.
another questions if anyone will know - what are the pros and the cons of CM7 vs SE stock rom?
Hi!
I haved the same issue. I think we deleted some system app.
I suggest to flash the stock ftf with flashtool first. And WIPE USER DATA.
After then, the CM7 boot.img and the rom once more. And WIPE USER DATA.
This way is solved the problem to me.
bukest
ps.: of course, you will lose all your data. but I only found this way to solved that problem.
damn it! huge problem!
i tried to flash the lt18i ftf file from the CM7 thread and i got stuck on the SE boot screen, boot loop.
so i tried to flash again the kernal and install the updated files from the sd and it makes the phone stuck on the free xperia project logo.
what to do?

Bro, you doing the same things like me, lol. DD
1. Flash lt18i ftf.
2. Flash Doomlord .42 (v13) kernel.
Now, you have .42 with root. If you like it, jump to 6.
If you don't like it:
3. Flash cm7 boot.img
4. Update CM7 from CWM
5. Update Gapps from CWM
Now you have CM7.1 (FXP45)
6. Enjoy.
i did 3-5 (im sure the first two are not necessary) and its still stuck on the free xperia project logo

Okay. The first 2 solved the problem for me. I'm still on .42(LT18i) with Doomlord v13 kernel. Try to take this to have a working phone first.
But if you found another way, don't hesitate to share the results.
Best regards,
bukest
yea i tried and its working.(no bootloop)
thank you
btw - feels alot more faster! i have to test it XD
OK, I Know I did a very stupid thing but I flashed the Nordik Version of the Official ICS Rom for Arc S on My Arc.
Now The problem is when it was flashing, the flash stopped at a certain point. Here is the message
14/002/2012 20:02:24 - INFO - Flashing userdata.sin
14/002/2012 20:02:24 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
14/002/2012 20:02:24 - INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on

But then After I Rebooted, It showed the sony logo for a second and then some logo of the mobile with a caution symbol (Yellow Exclamatory Mark). And thats it, after a couple of seconds, it switched off.
I repeated the process and the same thing.
Scared Then I Flashed a Doom Kernel and did a factory reset. While the factory reset, it said that it could not open \data :|
i tried formating data many times but it could not mount it saying different file system.
So I flashed a matching Custom ROM and It does not work, Nether is any app installing nor any file getting saved
Please Help!
And Anyway to solve the /userdata filesystem problem?
If flashtool stopped then try re-downloading the file in case it was corrupt, and try to re-flash. If that's not successful download a stock 2.3.4. ftf and flash that.
FTF Wasnt corrupt :\
Now I Have tried flashing the 2.3.4 Android aswell BB 48
A Very old one which I downloaded around december time to root my Arc.
That doesnt even go past the SE Logo
The Custom ROM atleast booted.
My Guess is that the userdata partition has a different filesystem than the one it can read :\
Think it's to do with flashtool being unable to handle ICS data parameters. Binary has posted some type of workaround till he updates it.
Ok, Will check them out.
Thanks!
In his post?
think so, it's mentioned in the thread.
Nope
It stops while flashing the system.sin file
Anyway to solve the /userdata filesystem problem?
Not yet, apparently. I use cm9 so don't really know, though I think there's a cwm flashable ics stock.

No Use of that
Try connecting in fastboot, and use the erase or format commands, e.g. 'fastboot erase boot' or erase system, in case it's a system partition issue
Then try a kernel and rom.

OK, Apparently the problem was that I was using an old version of the flashtool (0.5.8)
I downloaded the latest 0.6.9.1 and followed the 3 step flasshing process
Enjoying ICS on my LT15i

I have tried various kernels and various roms all are giving the same issue.
I can install the ROM but cannot boot it gets stuck at booting screen. I have formatted the partition's via fastboot and by using the CWM still the issue persists. Please help.
Flash the stock firmware ftf file, then try again, or flash a different kernel.

Hi guys , Please help me as I have tried multiple kernels and roma all of them exhibit same issue,
Booting to CWM using the CWM inbuilt into the kernel takes a long time as well as once a rom is installed via CWM it completes installation and then comes to the boot screen and it sits at the boooting screena and does not get past it.
How are we gonna help if you don't state ROM and kernel and what exactly you did.

Hey all,
I am having issues with my incredible 2 not being able to boot past the HTC boot logo (green type on white bg).
General device history:
-I unlocked the bootloader using the file generated by HTC
-I flashed CWM 6.0.1.5 via fastboot which installed correctly
-I achieved root successfully using SuperSU via CWM
I then attempted to flash Aeroevan's CM10 (20121113) after formatting the device, cache, and dalvik cache. I forgot to make a backup of my existing config beforehand because I was a preoccupied idiot. The ROM installed successfully, and I rebooted the phone. At this point the phone hung up on the HTC boot logo until I pulled the battery.
I am still able to enter recovery, and have tried installing several more ROMs to no avail using the same methodology described above (other Aeroevan CM10 and CM9 releases, various CM7 releases, Condemned CM7; all of which were said to have installed correctly). I also attempted to install "stock" ROMs but for some reason the installation fails on every stock ROM I attempt to install ("can't open [ROM name] (bad)")
I also tried other versions of CWM and pushing ROMs directly to the sdcard via ADP in case there was something wrong with my SD card adapter. Neither of these worked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
