[Q] on ER3BUS XL2.2.5 - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Little question on ER3BUS XL2.2.5
To JSL, great job with this ROM.
Just one problem, I setup powersaving at 15%, and when the battery arrived at that point, the powersaving profile didn’t kick in.
No lower brightness, no animations off, no vibration off, no Wi-Fi off, yet they were checked in powersaving menu.
The ROM is clean, no TBKP restore, only tweaks applied are your contacts fix and the full GPU rendering explained by mike1981 and hamdir.
I posted here, as I’m a noob and I can’t post in developer thread.
Thanks

Check your power mode settings. They should be something like high performance, normal, economy. Switch this to economy and it should work.

Thanks Ronin_2 for the reply, there is no such option in this ROM. Yet, in the “power” menu the power saver option was checked (turn on to reduce power consumption), which should be the economy profile you mentioned.

Could someone mention this to JSL?
Thanks in advance!
And by the way Happy New Year to all XDA developers and members!

Already did that. I think it's a bug indeed, but he will release a new rom tomorrow. The next version uses a new base. Maybe it's fixed

that was when still on 1.05 as a base, 1.11 doesnt have it.
@ OP: It should have popped up a notice. If you dismissed it, it'll continue as normal, if you clicked the button that allows it to go to power save mode, it will do this. I have mine set to 20% and it works fine.
But tomorrow (or later today, depending on where you are in the world) I'll be releasing v3.0 based on 1.22 which also will fix a few issues there was with 1.11, and because of the nature of 1.22, arabic is already present in the rom, and I've also included zh_tw, which I bleieve is Thai.
But as of right now, I'm off to get my new years party on. T-minus 3 hours and 14 minutes. Happy New Years Everyone!

Thank you all for the replys.
@ JSL – The notice popped up, I pressed ok, yet powersaving did not kicked in.
Now I installed ER3BUS XL3.0 , thank you for the release.
I will reply after my battery drains.

Well finally my battery arrived at 15 %, the notice popped up, I pressed ok, yet still nothing happened.
I tried flashing “Er3BuS_3.x_Stock_framework-res”, same result as above.

[Q] HTC Kaiser CPU Doesn't Sleep?

Did a search, and didn't find anything regarding this, so I'll point this out. I've noticed whenever my Kaiser (KAIS100) goes to sleep, it doesn't actually sleep, I can still press every button and the phone will "wake", screen comes on.
When I check Spare Parts > Battery History, it shows my phone's been running for 5days even though it's been on for 10 minutes actual. If I continue to put the phone to sleep that time grows exponentially.
Is my KAIS really sleeping, or is there a bug somewhere?
I'm running l1q1d's latest .32 kernel, with Fat Free Froyo build with system/data on NAND.
Battery also only lasts about 8hrs in "standby", and not even 2hrs with full use. With WinMo, I get about 36hrs standby, and about 5hrs full use.

I guess its not completley implemented yet, search this forum I remember I looked something about it, or post a comment to our good friend n2rjt in that thread:

Have you modified .nbh file with atools and entered the correct value on the advanced batt capacity? (units = battery real mAh * 1.6) if you havent or if you own an old battery you'll experience a lot of batt consumption or inaccurate readings....

The phone locks like it's suppose too, but the problem I'm having is the CPU of the Kaiser isn't actually falling asleep. I'm getting the same battery consumption as when the screen is off compared to on, and sitting there (no activity on my part, just leaving the screen on for no reason )
Every so often the phone will be asleep, and the only way to bring it back on is by hitting the power button, but about 95% of the time I can press the call button, end button, OK button, IE button, hell even push down on the wheel on the other side of the Kaiser and the screen will come on showing the lock screen.
As far as the battery capacity, I have not done that, but the phone's been auto-learning my capacity, and it will get to the 2160 units, compared to the 2000 it's always set too, and sometimes reach 2377 units.
I have tried several Radio versions, down to 1.65.xx.xx version (which was the original version on my phone), and no changes, and tried different builds and no change either. DZOs kernel doesn't make a difference either, except screw up my battery meter completely. lol
uhm thats wierd.. i can only unlock through the power button, what i have experienced is that if its conected to an external power source it does reacts to any button I press.... but not on battery... maybe its a build issue... right now im using scoots CM rls 5a, dont remember if warbyte's donut behave like that...

Did some more testing, and found that without it plugged into power it does only respond to the power button, but again it's only about 15-20% of the time, and even those times seem iffy as it just seems like the phone's just slow to respond.
Phone is also somewhat warm as well even when "off", and I do have the phone overclocked to 450MHz, kernel is set to 425 (running a test on speed/stability atm)
At 425MHz it's still reasonably warm, and at 450 the temperature jumps alot.
Anyone else have an issue of the tap sounds when tapping on the screen sometimes not playing? Granted phone quality is great, and GPS is working well, though Camera is broken on my end, even though it was working before.
It sounds like there is a real issue. Some application is running continuously for you, preventing the CPU from going to sleep. I have had that before. Try removing widgets from the main screen. For me, the problem was an app that showed a flip-clock and the weather, and looked just like HTC Sense. I don't remember its name but it used to be popular.
The newest 2.6.32 kernel seems to sleep relatively well for me. Sometimes it wakes on any key, and sometimes it wakes up to a totally white screen. Other times it just plain refuses to wake up. Usually I can coax it back to sanity (from white screen or from sleep) by Fn-Left keyboard softkey, then Fn-Right keyboard softkey.
Your phone should get approx 10 or so hours of life from a charged battery. Less than you get with WinMo, but lots more than you seem to be seeing.

Yes that's the one. it needs to be removed, and can be replaced by Fancy Widget.

Ok, I'll give it a whirl, and remove some of the widgets I have running, and see if it does help out. Right now though I'm re-installing /system as I tried messing around with the density as 110 seems to work real well with where things are placed on the home screen (no widgets are overlapping each other), but Market won't work, and the Android Keyboard keeps crashing (on-screen).
But anyways, phone's booting back up, so I'll test out the battery life here again, as I got about 95% charge right now, so should serve as a good test for battery life, and CPU Sleepage.
Having a similar issue, seems to behave ok (screen lock comes on when I press power button) but power usage on standby is similar to original poster's. About 8 hours standby. Went to bed last night and it said 66% charged (1300mAH battery) and it didn't last the night. Takes a looooong time to charge to full though so I doubt it's lying about fully charging the battery, suggesting it's using it up at a fast rate.
How do I check background tasks?
Edit: This is with WiFi, GPS and Sync OFF by the way. On the other hand I live in a low signal area (typically 1-2 bars) could it be straining to get a better signal? Used to have an old nokia that used to run itself flat in no time when there was a low/missing signal!
Edit 2 : Figured it out, turns out the ebay app has a service and a process running - even with notifications turned off! Have killed these and see if anything improves
That could very well be part of the problem, although it shouldn't kill it from 66% with just the radio. How much capacity does it calibrate itself to?

Phone Radio really shouldn't use more power with low signal, in fact it really shouldn't affect power output at all (well except the fact that it's on). I have a 1350mAH battery, but it's reading at 2470 adjusted, so I re-flashed a new kernel with the new battery changes, now it's reading 2437units adjusted, which is over 1500mAH for the battery which is not what I own. But on the bright side, my battery capabilities are improving, and the battery meter is starting to read alittle more accurately.

yes, i boutght seidio 1600 mAh, and the kernel ended up adjusting it to 3260 units... (about 2000 mAh) maybe the 1.6 factor isnt right just as n2rjt said, maybe its closer to the 2.0
Seems like ebay may have been the culprit. Killed the ebay process and application in the background and only used about 10% over night (as opposed to over 60% the night before). I'll have to leave it overnight with ebay running again for a proper scientific test next

Yah, I'm starting to run into issues with certain apps keeping the phone awake and not letting it sleep. I kill some of the apps and it actually helps out the battery some.
I installed the original launcher from one of the other froyo builds, but came across with an FC with acore, so now back with ADW.Launcher or LauncherPro.

When you install a app, take a look at its requirements, like "PREVENT FROM SLEEP". You might have a app doing just that..

Yep, most of the apps I download have that. But in sad news, I'm actually going back to WMO 6.5 as I can't seem to keep Android stable on my kaiser.. I've reinstall the same build twice (which I know is not corrupted, as it was working fine 2 days ago), and Market is always corrupted...... So, for now, until I have a secondary phone I can revert too, I'll be going back to WMO for the time being.

Coming from an iphone.

Hey guys just wanted to take some time to make a post about some things that I am getting use to. I have been an apple product owner for the past 5 years and this is my first non iphone. So far I enjoy my phone but there are some small quirks that I am having issues with. I will list and detail these issues.
1. Haptic feedback always finds a way to disable itself. I always have to go back into the settings and re apply the haptic feedback.
2. The battery is god-awful. I'm not rooted or undervolted. Just stock at&t phone and I'm lucky to get 6 hours off the charger. As in my phone comes off the charger at 9am and by 3pm it is already dead. Is this typical? I read that the facebook app affects the battery life, so I removed it.
This is one of my biggest complaints. My iphone 4S easily went from 9am-7 or 8 in the evening.
3. My home button is not solid. When I push it the feedback is not consistent. Sometimes it makes a light click, other times it feels normal. I feel like maybe something has gotten into the surrounding area around the home button. I take care of all my electronics so I doubt this is the issue, but I didn't want to discount the idea.
4. I have downloaded an advanced task killer, but are there any other tricks or tips you guys could let me in on? Or any apps that would be recommended? I would appreciate the feedback!
5. When receiving photos from iphone owners my phone displays pics as a video file? How can I just get normal mms's from iphones?
OH YEA...when is the GS3 going to get jellybean? My at&t phone still has ICS, and I keep checking for software updates every 24 hours and as of this evening I have not found any updates to the new OS.
1. where are you enabling haptic feedback?
2. as always, battery life depends on usage. screen on time? do you have a lot of apps that could use data? do you have both wifi and data enabled when you're not around wifi? try disabling any stock apps you don't use.
3. i don't have anything to say about this. try comparing to other s3s if you can. then you can figure out if your phone is a problem or it's all of them. i personally don't care nor try to feel the difference if there is one. i tend to use back until i exit the app, not use the home button.
4. task killers are not beneficial to you at all. they actually tend to kill the battery faster. uninstall yours and see how your battery life fares.
5. no one knows when official jelly bean will come. if you root and install a custom recovery and start flashing roms you can try jelly bean right now. but it won't be with touchwiz nor will it have everything working as you would find it in your stock rom.

Thanks for the quick reply. My on screen time is typically in the lower 4 hour range, I would post a screenshot but I am unable to since I am a junior member. I will not disable data as that is completely unacceptable on a smart phone. I didn't realize but my friend deleted my task killer a couple days ago. Using his GS3 I can tell a noticeable difference in home buttons-I wonder if at&t will replace my phone (within 22 days)? I guess I'm waiting for JB just like everyone else.
I am enabling haptic feedback via settings>sound>haptic feedback btw.
I've had my GS3 for about 4 days now and my battery life is awesome. I can go from about 8:00am to around 11pm before the battery icon even turns red.
apparently there's a gsiff_daemon bug or cell standby bug? i haven't personally experienced those, so i couldn't tell you much about them. turning off data is only acceptable if you're trying to avoid an overage, so i get where you're coming from. if your task killer is gone and you're still getting horrible battery life, something else may be the culprit.
a few suggestions: disabling unused stock apps (flipboard, those att apps if you don't use them). i don't know what you need synced but if you don't need your calendar or browser synced you should turn off sync for that. do you use the power saving option? if you don't need much processing power i'd turn that on. auto brightness may help too.
about the home button, if it irritates you too much att will likely replace it. maybe the new unit will have better battery life?

I think the biggest thing that seems to help battery life is keeping the power saving mode turned on all the time. Seems to make a HUGE difference with battery life (especially on stock), but doesn't really seem to affect functionality.
Yea I removed all those crappy widgets.
My phone is always in power saver mode! I'm going to try to get a new unit tomorrow. How does this work? When i had my iPhone I just scheduled an appt at the apple store and they would always switch my phone out whenever I had issues under 1 year.

If you bought at a local store, you should be able to call them up and ask for a replacement for a defective device.
It shouldn't cost you anything as you are within their 30 day return window.
Oh... and as for official JellyBean.... isn't the rumor so far saying potentially late Q3/early Q4? Apparently the International version of the S3 with the quad-core processor is expected to get Jellybean shortly after the "Samsung Mobile Unpacked" event taking place in Germany tomorrow. Haven't really seen anything concrete about when our S3's will see an official release... but seeing as T-Mobile also just recently had an official build leak for the S3, i wouldn't be surprised if the late Q3/Early Q4 speculation could be correct.
Root, install custom rom, install Ktoonsez kernel... Battery life will easily double. If you really want to get the most out of your battery, consider AOKP or CM10... Jelly Bean based, with 0 bloat and almost none of the background process the stock TW rom runs in the background.

4 hours screen time is a lot... even on my iPhone 4 and priors (I had them all) with that much screen time I wouldn't get more than 7-8 hours. Keep in mind you are going from a 3.5 screen to a 4.8... this screen will eat up battery at a faster rate.
With an average of 2 hour screen time I usually get 15-20 hours out of a full charge pending usage. Nothing special, rooted running triune, stock cpu settings.

I haven't even began reading up on rooting. I probably wont root my phone unless I absolutely have to. I enjoy stock reliability. Also when I go into settings> accessibility, there is no option to enable haptic feedback.

I think after a bit of tweaking you will see better battery life. I get much better battery life than my sister does on her 4S. Also, disabling data won't hurt anything if you are not using the phone. I. Don't charge my phone overnight anymore.... I disable data while I'm sleeping and charge in the am while I'm getting ready for my day. With a few tweaks you should be able to make it through a full day, even with 4 hours screen time. Take some of the suggestions others have mentioned here.

1. happens to me as well when i turn powersaver on and then off again. (powersave disables haptic feedback, but it doesn't turn on again sometimes when i turn powersave back off) probably will be fixed in next update.
2. don't have this issue at all. how is your screen on time and what do you do on your phone? (ie: any specific apps/games you use?)
3. my home button is definitely solid.
4. do NOT download advanced task killer. it is not needed as android will kill off apps when it needs to. there's also a built in task killer if you'd like. just long press home button and click task manager.
5. happens to me as well but when i save the photo it changes back to jpq file.
6. jellybean hasn't been released yet for s3
Root your phone, install CWM and ktoonsez's sammy kernal. Stock rom by default has the performance governor enabled, which I believe has the phone either running at the lowest clock or the highest clock with no real middle. Rooting your phone and installing a custom rom will allow you to have access to more governors that will treat your battery much nicer as well as his custom kernal has added features and just performs faster as well as has better battery life.
There are all kinds of tutorials on the site and I'm sure even some youtube videos on the process. The only other thing I'll add is to READ READ READ on how to do the process, READ READ READ the thread for possible issues and READ READ READ some more for fixes to any issues that may arise.
The great thing about android is the ability to change almost everything about how your phone acts and operates. Once you start you'll end up like me that whenever you get a new phone, you'll already have downloaded root/custom rom/custom kernal on your home computer so that you're ready to get off of stock within 30minutes of being home.

1. I've noticed that when I enable battery save mode, it turns off haptic feedback, so it might be that.
2. Like others said it depends on what you do with your phone, but on average, I usually get 15-20+ hours on a charge with at least 3 hours screen time.
4. I wouldn't use task killers. But it's smart to do a little management of tasks yourself. For example, when you want to exit an application, don't just hit the home button, hit the back button until the app exits. From my experience, depending on the app, this will actually exit the app and not just leave it running in the background. Also, every once in a while, I pull up the multitasking screen by long pressing the home button, and I hit the "remove all" button to close any applications that I don't need running in the background.
Also, you may want to try installing Juice Defender. What that app does is turn off the data connection when the phone is in idle, and it turns it back on every 15 or 30 minutes (configurable) to synch, check email, etc. The phone connection is always on. It's actually made a noticeable improvement to my battery life. But this also depends on if it's ok with you that you only synch every 15 minutes. For my girlfriend, she likes to get 10 minute warnings when ebay auctions end, and with this installed she's missed some auctions. So it doesn't work for her.
Imo, the single best way to save battery is to get an app to automate toggling data off when you lock your phone. I've been using a Tasker profile to turn my data off after the phone has been locked for 10 minutes, and turns it back on when my screen unlocks. With data off, my phone drains maybe ~1.5%/hr.
Whatever you do though, you likely won't get more than 3-4hrs of screen time, considering the phone is 720p and 4.8".
Herp derp SGS3 Tapatalk 2
Just a departure from what I'm use to(my battery on my old 4S was substantially better)...if I didn't want my data on all the time I could have bought a dumb phone ya know? Anyways with data turned off battery drain was better ~5% hour.

If anyone cares...

I posted in the Q&A forum asking for people to see if there CPU Power saving part of the Power Saving mode was working correctly, because mine would limit the CPU top speed to 1.35 GHz as it should, but only for a few minutes, then go right back to 1.9GHz. No one responded, so thinking I must have a problem with my phone, I exchanged it last night for a new one. And guess what? This one does it too. So it appears a major part of saving battery by using Power Saving Mode is broken with all T-Mobile units at least, if not all of them. I called both T-Mobile and Samsung before returning it and both said they never heard of the problem before.
For comparisons sake, my wifes Note 2 in PSM locks in at 1.1 GHz and doesnt budge from there.
if you check the box in power saving mode it will lock in cpu at 1.2 (never seen it do 1.3) from what I saw, hence, power saving, so un-check it, you should get 1.8, another item that effects the cpu speed is kernels, have you tried another?
BTW, nice ride you have. sweet

Nope, checked should lock it up to 1.35, which it does, but leave it for a while and then check it, the phone will over ride it and scale back to 1.9 on its own.

[APP][GPLv3] SnooZy Charger - Battery saver for Galaxy Nexus ghost charging

Hi everyone,
SnooZy Charger is an open-souce (GPLv3) Android app I developed initially for a friend whose Galaxy Nexus phone had battery issues due to the Gnex ghost connections!
Some devices randomly detect a power connection without any charger being actually connected to the phone. This would drain the battery because of the screen turning on to display the "Charging" message, multiple times per hour till screen timeout.
The app runs as a background service, listening to power (dis)connections. The event is logged into a power connection history (can be useful!) and the screen is turned off to save battery consumption by the display.
The APK and source code are available on GitHub. Scan the QR Code to download for free on the Playstore.

Feedback, comments and suggestions are most welcome! Please take into consideration that this is still a beta version...
thanks,

I never knew that my phone had the ghost charging problem this bad. In 2 hours I had 1247 events, thats way too much. I didnt even touch the phone and it dropped 30% battery. The app is a bit aggresive I know its still in beta but this is what I saw. It turns off my acreen real fast when I'm in the lockscreen, sometimes it takes me up to 3 times to unlock my phone because the phone's screen turns off fast.
Btw: The app is really sinple to use and I like the holo style it is very clean looking, thanks for your time and effort, hopefully you are able to find a solution for this problem.

Thanks for your comments
I never imagined that events could occur so often! I'll look into a cleaner way to do the screen lock, to be able to handle that frequency.
Technically speaking, the app does not handle screen on/off:
App listens to power connection/disconnection
OS turns the screen ON on power connection
App, afterwards, locks the phone. This is based on settings (is phone locked? Is it power loss?)
Locking the phone, turns the screen off.
The more efficient way would be to tell the OS not to turn the screen ON on power connection/disconnection (if the screen is turned OFF). However, I don't have the impression the Android SDK allows such functionalities!
It will probably be simpler to add Screen lock aggressivity (0, 2 o5 seconds) in settings, which would define the delay between consecutive screen locks.
Will see what I can do!
Cyanogenmod has a feature to not wake the screen on power connects/disconnects as well. Good idea with the app for everyone else!
I had this issue and it was caused from my phone getting moisture, not exactly wet but having it in my pocket from sweating or being in the rain. I dried it out with a blow dryer and haven't had this issue since. Also I used alcohol and cleaned the battery port from corrosion and that seemed to really do the trick.
Great app though in case I am wrong about my phone I can surely use it. thanks for sharing!

Version 1.0 released!
I've added a new setting: Screen lock delay. Values available are Immediately / 3 sec / 5 sec. [screen capture attached]
This should solve the locking too fast on phones with furious ghost charging like yours Thanks again for your feedback!

It seems to me that Wake on plug (Settings/Display and lights) has be introduced in CM 10.2 and possibly for some unofficial CM 10.1
Such a feature does solve the battery drain issue in a better way, but SnooZy can still be useful for unrooted phones!

i never needed this app until yesterday when i updated to oreo from nougat. but lineage oreo (unofficial) seems to have removed or maybe just moved the option to not wake the screen on charge and as i use wireless charging that tends to connect / disconnect regularly it was driving me crazy until i found this app to keep the screen off. works great for me and on oreo

[HELP] Panic - CPU seems broken, I need help!

First of all, Hi everyone - chefs, users and admins!
I am writing this post with a really heavy heart now, almost bleeding experience happened to me from nowhere about 2 months ago. I feel quite an advanced "flashoholic", however I've broke up with that few years ago. In 2013 I sold my Note 2 and started "new life" with Android, bought a DSLR and engaged into photography. This year, in february I have bought a tablet as I needed really something for business purposes, and I have chosen a Tab S 10.5 LTE. I didn't ever hear about any Knox tripping or anything, and as soon as it arrived I flashed a AOSP ROM to my thingie as I love AOSP overall. Than strange things started to happen with my CPU. As I recall I have noticed it first after installing Xposed to the tablet - it started heating pretty badly. When I checked my CPU states through ROM Toolbox etc I noticed it sometimes freezes at frequencies around 1.7-1.9 GHz, and during this behavior max frequencies could even fluctuate from 1.7 to 1.8, 1.9 and so on. It looks like "something" changes max frequency setting of CPU as it wants, whenever it wants to and pushes usage to the maximum.
Now, I started to look for a fix - uninstalled Xposed, every root apps etc. Nothing stopped it. I was "pretty sure" the cause is in AOSP thing and the conflict between my hardware and custom AOSP Roms. So after 2 months of tryouts to solve the problem, I today reflashed TW to "finally" get rid if this and save my battery life. What shocked me was... the bug is still here! Even with 0 apps installed, all ROM stock and clean, my CPU goes crazy, the back is hot, and CPU monitoring apps show a hard usage of 1.9 and 1.8 GHz frequencies. At this point I started to panic.
To mention - before I posted this here, tried to search over xda, googling it and so on, but it seems noone has such problem anywhere! As long as I know I can't get my warranty back, and I feel really panic and don't know what to do. I am asking experienced devs or anyone who faced it before for some help, on my knees. This tablet is great, but pretty useless when my battery hits 20% after 4 hours!
EDIT
I snapped a screenshot of some kernel options I don't understand, however someone maybe would find any wrong input here (as I can change them thanks to the app). Thanks. PS. I have changed max fr tp 550 in order to avoid heating and battery drainage, to this moment thayt's the only way I know to stop it.
Thank you very much for any help and advices, and sorry for my bad english.
/K.Z.
Try installing Watchdog, and in the setting include phone and all other process monitoring, see if it can locate what is taxing your cpu.

Hi John, it looks like that option doesn't work. I see that none of apps exceeds CPU usage over 10%, but the clock still goes on 1.7GHz etc. Sometimes it cools down, but it happens rarely.
Did you adjust the setting to monitor all phone processes, even if you have an wifi only tablet still do this.
John.

Sure, but the app doesn't seem to have any options button anywhere, just 3 tabs... sorry. However I can see it is monitoring all system apps also, if it helps.
it`s been a while, i will install it on my T800

Hold the button left of the home button down to get the settings, the left touchkey button hold it down to get settings.
John.
Thanks but umm.. nothing happens. Tried holding down task switch capacitive button for few seconds on every tab, but it just goes to task switch view.
Strange, I just hold the button down and within 2 seconds the strip along the bottom of the display appears, maybe you are in the wrong mode, there are three section on the top of the screen, you need to select the far left one called STATS.

VERY strange. I did it on all 3 tabs, just nothing happens. Is it possible that app changes maximum frequency of my CPU? I don't believe any app has possibility to do it on it's own...
Have you tried it again with watchdog on the same screen in my screenshot then press the button, watchdog does not change cpu frequency.
John.
I used to have the same problem on AOSP roms and some Touchwiz roms! When you first flash it and set things up, CPU usage is fine. But after a few days maybe hours, CPU would do the same exact thing like yours! Then my device gets hot and drains battery.
I found this to be a problem with AOSP 5.1.1 roms. Resurrection remix, CM12, PAC ROM and yeah. Never had problems on Cm11. The only ROM that solved my heating issues and no cpu problems are AOSP roms on 5.0.2 or Liquid Smooth rom. 5.0.2 was bug free. Liquid Smooth ROM has an custom kernel which helps cool down the device and reduce the high CPU usage. Seems to be the only ROM without issues for me on 5.1.1. For Touchwiz roms, I just install skyhigh kernel and turn on hotplugging and CPU multicore power saving to solve heat issues. But really on Touchwiz roms, CPU is fine most of the time for me.
My device is SM-T800 BTW. This is what I found out from flashing many roms.
