Hi All,
Thought maybe someone here would have an idea, we run a exchange 2003 environment and since upgrading my phone to 2.2 (custom rom) I'm unable to sync with exchange.
It gets past the first screen asking for server details etc to the one that asks what data to synchronise with (mail, contacts, calendar) but upon clicking finish setup it loads processing and then says "Failed to create the account. Please try again later."
I am an administrator of our exchange environment so can check settings there but basically it worked under 2.1. We do enforce pin and it has done that already so there is some communication going on.
We do not self sign our own certificates for this it is signed by Equifax Secure Inc.
Also I have a feeling it might be related to content and be failing due to large amounts of emails - when syncing on 2.1 I had to choose the smallest amount of days to sync back to get it going - being a systems engineer I receive around 50+ emails a day and don't delete stuff.
If anyone has any ideas on anything I could look at doing on the phone or server side (considering exporting everything out and syncing then importing in but don't want to have to) it would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Also thanks to the community for awesome threads on how to flash phone / create goldcard, confused me muchly with many hurdles but got there in the end so very much appreciated to those who participate in that area.
Shameless bump, anyone? I've wasted a large amount of time searching and trying to figure this one out.

Im trying to do the same with my hotmail account, everything passes until last screen than i get "Failed to create the account. Please try again later."
Using NeoPhyTe 1.6
I've been having this problem "FAILED TO CREATE ACCOUNT TRY AGAIN LATER" so long until today, many ppl have had this issue. They mentioned about the pin security and all of that. I didn't think that was true.
This had to do with the permissions set for the user in AD, I went in and (tick or check the) allow authentication, read, read and write phone. Follow from instructions here: (done in 2010 exchange)
security.crudtastic.com/?p=249
I know can read my emails from exchange =)

Just thought I'd reply back to this in case anyone else was following this or wanted to know, I found the issue looks like it was related to opendesire (just a flash of it) account synced on another guys desire (2.2 stock). I did a factory reset which didn't fix it but have now flashed LeeDrOiD Mod and it's going strong. Thanks everyone for input .

Hi all, i changed my google account password in a browser and in the past my phone would basically stop working and ask for re-authentication.
However I just changed it , twice, and it my phone did not prompt me for any new password entry. I know i've done this in the past with other android phones. I'm wondering if its because of a special google account setting or phone setting.
Any ideas? Im running cm nightlies 150 on my g2.

I was caught off guard by that, seems Google syncs password changes to Android somehow.

So I guess you have the same problem as well?
Anyone else with this problem? I'm a bit paranoid if I lose my phone, and the thief will have access to all my google stuff even if I change my password.

I'm experiencing the same behavior, and I don't care for it.
I know the password and and email is right because i use the same to login on a pc or the mobile broswer, but it just won't let me login or the facebook app from the market. any suggestions?
Did you try uninstalling/reinstalling? Is your version of Facebook outdated?
Well the only way i can remove facebook for htc sense is by forcing an uninstall using super manager. I been flashing a few ROMs recently and noticed it wouldn't work. I have no idea when it stopped working. I just found a ROM I liked and decided to start linking my accounts.
Oh, I was under the impression you were using the market Facebook. Try downloading it from the market. I never link my Facebook to HTC Sense, I skip it, and I download the one from the market.
yea not working either...

I recommend Synergy or Shooter(Joel's or wildstang's). They are solid roms.
I think it's a FB issue. It always worked for me but now won't work on any ROMs.

Seems to be working for em everytime I flash a new rom.
Check your Facebook Account>Security>Login Approvals setting from your PC. If it is set to Required, every time you flash a new ROM and reinstall a Facebook app, FB sees a new, unauthorized device and sends an SMS to the device with a numeric code for you to enter instead of your password.

Ive looked at this setting as it was suggested to me over in the thunderbolt-synergy thread, and it was disabled. Ive had this same problem for a couple days now after installing a new rom. Even going to a backup, it keeps telling me to re-enter my password when I try to sync my facebook account, and then tells me I entered a wrong user name or password. I do think it is a problem on facebooks end, but the weird thing is my girlfriend is having no problems with signing in to facebook for htc sense or the market facebook app.
I'll try the facebook account settings, but every ROM I flash it doesn't make a difference.

The facebook account settings didnt make a difference to me. Still wont let me sign in.
So I found a method that worked for me to fix HTC sense. I created a new email account with gmail and made it my new primary email with facebook. That's under account settings. Once I made it the new primary, i tried htc sense and it worked. Logged me right in. Let me know if this works I can give more detailed instructions per request.

Thank you. I was able to sign in after switching to my hotmail address as primary email. I wonder why we can't use our original email address. I was also able to sign into the market Facebook app.

It only seemed to be the Facebook for Htc sense and the market facebook app that wouldn't accept the old email. Seesmic had no problem signing in with my old email.
maybe you guys can help me with this problem. I recently had to hard reset my phone, but after re installing the app Facebook for HTC Sense it no longer tells me via notification bar which of my contacts has updated there facebook status. it used to show the people Icon with a syncing/refresh ring and tell me which of my contacts updated their status and pressing this would take me to my people app. is there anywhere on my phone where i can enable this? im on a Droid Inc

i just tried it and still the same error username or password incorrect !! is it because i have easy battery saver runnin in behind ???
I doubt the battery app is causing it. The only problem I had with exchange is that Comcast sometimes did not like my exchange servers.

You might need manual setup. See if you need to use the domain\username, password and then your mail.schooldomain.com server details.
you can also check the ActiveSync setup by going to - https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/
if his school is giving him android directions then as is deff setup. now what you say about the domain\ is very possible but i doubt it because i am using the same rom as him and administrate an exchange 2010 server which has more security reqs as far as stuff like that goes so other than a mistyped key idk what the problem for him could be unless they are requiring caps in username.
My guess would be that you're using server/username as opposed to server\username. Again, only a guess.

What about ssl? Do you have that checked? If your school requires it and you don't have it checked you might get that error.

I recently set up my S3 to access my company's Exchange server. I also had a hard time setting it up initially and had to do a manual setup.
Since you are getting both a username and password error first make sure that you are using the right exchange server address.
For me it is something like
exch2010.servername.com .
Next you should make sure that your user name is preceded by your domain name. In my case my server name and domain name are the same.
So it should look something like.
domain\username
Hope this helps.

Just to add on here. My server name and domain name are also the same however the trick that works for me is that i cannot put in my domain name prior to my username, if i do it will fail to connect. I do have to input the backslash prior to my username though or again it will fail to connect. Also is your IT dept using a security policy on the server side to control mobile device access to Activesync? I know from my own experience that if you use a security policy to prevent unprovisioned devices from accessing the Activesync account the user will see an "incorrect password error repeatedly, at least on some phones like the iPhone for instance.

is there anyway where i can download the ssl library ? i guess its something to do with it ... i give up trying on exchange, trying out on IMAP..but still gives error saying Can't safely connect to server.(javax.net.ssl.SSLProtocolException: SSL handshake aborted: ssl=0x5c057350. Failure in SSL libary, usally a protocol error. error:140770FC
thnks
there has been a lot of good feedback and suggestion to resolving this issue ... and if none of this advice is working still... i'd nandroid (back it up), wipe it all, and go stock. after that if you're still having an issue then possibly their setup is not working

I've never had a problem with stock email, I mainly use IMAP but have occasionally set pop. I did however have to go to my email provider settings and tick allow IMAP.
I have used K9 before which seemed OK, not sure how frequently it'll check though

If I'm honest it sounds like somewhere you're entering the wrong settings
I use the stock mail app for my work emails from without issue.
Thing is these pop servers are really sensitive to the ports you try to use and what type of encryption you use etc, get one wrong and it will fail
Have you got another working email client on a pc or something that you can literally just copy the settings from, ports, encryption and all?

Password definitely correct? Normally greyed out otherwise so I guess there's a slight slight chance that that's wrong? Can you reset it and try again, just to be sure? Unless of course the password you're trying works elsewhere like Web mail etc

Tried it about 10 times and works fine on my server and windows mail, really don't understand what it can be.
Hi just done this again and seems to be working, but one more question where do i change the sound for email alerts ?
goto normal settings (not email settings)>sound>notification sound
i could swear the old mail app used to let it have a separate sound of its own though.. weird.
