To save battery I like to have my data off & only turn it on when checking smthn. Is there a widget /app that gives me access to turning it on directly on my home screen instead of going through settings etc... ?

Data Enabler. Works great and has a widget!
Data switch works awesome also. Just place the icon on one of your screens and hit on our off and toggles off and on.

Does it have the 4g hotspot? And can I use diff themes with it( confused as to how I use themes)?
Tia
Yea and there are a few themes in the appropriate section.
What would be ideal is a simple toggle widget that you press once and it turns off 3G and turns wifi on all with one press. That would make switching from 3G to wifi super quick and easy.

Tasker will let you make that script, and thousands of others as specific and awesome as you can make them

Was wondering if there is a 4G Widget toggle that works with LauncherPro Plus. Trying to get one that resembles the other LP widgets or Sense widget.
I use SwitchPro Widget by Droid Shogun with my LP. It allows me to load one widget for all of my buttons.
+1 for Switchpro
4g toggle widget but you have to pay.
I also use switchpro

I use switchpro for this also and if you only use the switchpro widget to toggle 4g on or off, it works correctly - it will scan for networks, and stay connected.
But if you try to turn 4g on through the menu and wireless networks once you install the switchpro 4g toggle, 4g will turn off immediately, and won't even get to the scanning part. If you turn it on through SwitchPro first, then you can turn it off and back on through wireless networks, and it will keep connecting fine, until you use switchpro to toggle it off.

Thank you. I searched "4G widget", "Widget", "4G toggle" and a couple other variations. Never saw this thread.

Keep your eye on that one - I used it for a while. It has a tendency to turn on 4g at reboot, and sometimes not even on reboot - just out of the blue. And I don't think it's being supported anymore.
OP - If you have tasker, you could set up your own 4g toggle, with any icon you want.
i was using switch pro till i discovered "extended controls". Way better, you can make widgets for almost any setting and even customize it. Heck, i like it better than the stock power widget
Has anyone else noticed that the radios widget is no longer in Cyanogens 7.0.2.1? This is the widget that you can toggle the radios off and on in. I use this quite a bit as I do WiFi in my house, have Wimax at work and I trvel very heavily so I use airplane mode quite a bit.

I have that widget on my home screen right now, running CM7.0.2.1 it is called power control, and you just long press on the home screen, choose widget, and power control, then you choose which controls you want.
Its still there.
Settings > CM Settings > Interface > Notification Power Widgets
Scroll down to mobile data [3G], Wimax is your 4G, and Wifi toggle AP [hotspot]

P.S. This is BS that I have to wait five minutes to edit a post. can't do a ninja edit that way...
No problem man.
To save a lot of my battery life I have widget to turn off wifi when I'm just playing a game or reading. I notice on my 10 inch Lenovo tablet there is a wifi toggle on/off why isn't it there for the a100? Is there any way to enable it or add it on? I know I can use the widgets but If I'm already reading or playing a game it a PITA to have to go back to home screen just to toggle wifi via widget rather than just launching the quick menu to disable it.
The notification menu allows for the toggling of airplane mode. Is that sufficient? (Three clicks to popup, click the settings icon, and toggle the mode). I think there is a way to add an icon on the desktop for a single click. I need to look into that later today.
When you say "quick menu," do you mean the three button ribbon? I don't know how to add or remove anything from there, but I would be interested in learning. I would also be interested in hiding it or using swiping to toggle it. I will try to look into this too.
I used curvefish Widgets for one tap wifi on-off and autorotation lock. (not a fan of physical switches) I am now using Beautiful Widgets toggle switches for Wifi and rotation since it was only 10 cents in the market.

You're right I could just toggle airplane mode which should turn off wifi. I'm gonna see if this also turns off GPS. Thanks.
I think the wifi toggle doesn't exist in the 7 inch tablets. I saw a video of a flyer with honeycomb and it didn't have it eithrt but it did have airplane toggle.

The Airplane toggle does not turn off the GPS. At least, I use the GPS while in Airplane mode quite frequently (e.g. navigation apps, geocaching app, and etc.). There is a possibility that I am disabling the GPS with Airplane mode and then manually turning on the GPS when I activate a related app. I need to test that.

I looked this up (haven't tried it yet) and it looks promising. Of course, you have to go to the main menu.
I wonder if there is a way to modify the Android ribbon on that has the back, home, and switch app buttons. I believe you called that the "Quick Menu." Still need to look that up. I would personally love to remove the Home button (since we have capacitive Acer home key) and maybe add another button.

I just confirmed that toggling Airplane mode has no effect on the GPS. In order for me to turn off the GPS, I have to toggle the GPS setting.
Since this isn't a phone, is "Airplane Mode" nothing more than a WiFi toggle?
The Curvefish GPS won't show up on my list of widgets.
I downloaded the Toggle Widgets Pack which gives me a GPS widget that just sends me directly to the GPS settings rather than toggles it on and off.
The TW widgets for WiFi, Airplane mode, Bluetooth, etc do act as a toggle though. Odd.

I am pretty sure it toggles bluetooth as well. Of course, I have to look that up.
The bluetooth I dont really use and the GPS havent yet the need to use to so for now the airplane mode will do. Previously I was using a wifi on off widget in my home screen to turn it off now I dont have to leave any game or watching a video to turn it off. Thanks for the advice!
Np. Enjoy!

The best toggle app I have found is Widgetsoid2.x. It puts the toggle buttons into the Notifications menu, so to toggle WiFi off/on I just click once for the Notification Menu, once for the toggle, then click back to the main screen.

I used widgetsoid on my gtab before but i didnt know it can add those to the notification menu. I'll have to try it...thanks.
Just installed it...I see in the market images it can be added to android 2.3 or below. Can you show me how to add it in the notification bar on the bottom for honeycomb?
EDIT: It seems a big buggy an too redundant since you already have it in the notification bar also. Thanks for the tip though.

At this point I already have toggle widgets. But he mentioned an app that can add the toggle in the status bar on the bottom (atleast thats what I think hes saying). This would be better since it doesnt require me to go to home screen.

Thank you! Looking at the images it looks very nice and matches the HC quick setting perfectly. Widgetsoid was good too but I think was kinda buggy so I never really used it. Gonna try yours now. Thanks again......
EDIT: Just installed it. Love that it matches honeycomb and you cant really tell its an add on. It is someone redundant though cause it also shows a notification icon in the bottom bar. But I'm not complaining.
EDIT2: Found theres setting to disable icon in notification bar.
My coworker bought the Galaxy-Nexus last week from Verizon, and says the battery life just sucks so bad, he said dead by mid day, battery is lucky to get 6 hours. He wants to know if there is a way to turn off LTE ? I thought you could turn it off like Sprint's 4G ? I never use the 4G on my Galaxy SII, I get 10 hours battery life on super heavy use weekdays, and get like 30+ hours on weekend light use.
I told him the 4G settings should be in; Settings-Wireless and Network-?
Thanks
What other tips would you recommend for settings to conserve battery life on the Verizon Nexus ? I am sure the standard stuff I do on my Galaxy SII; Location settings turned off, watch the sync times, no LTE, no auto brightness, etc... ?
Settings -> Wireless & Networds select More ... -> Moblie Networks ->Network Mode -> select CDMA
Is there a way to make that into a shortcut? So you can either switch it on off from home screen, or at least make a shortcut to get straight there?

Good question. I still do not understand why Google does not add widget toggles up in the notification bar to stock Android ? They should have the most used widget toggles up there; WiFi...Bluetooth...GPS...Sound...4G...

Best temp solution that I have seen is LTE Switch. I'll admit though, the icon is pretty ugly.
I tried Widgetsoid, which adds CM-like toggles to the notification menu... but no 4G icon.
Honestly I don't use 4G that often so I just leave it disabled. I can go from 8am~9pm on a charge with some pretty heavy usage (including an hour of XDA reading, games, etc)
Beautiful widgets had a 4G button you could add, I remember seeing it when I had my Fascinate but of course it wasn't 4G. I'll add the button on my Nexus and report back if it works.
-Edit-
Says it only works with HTC devices, oh well!!
My GF has the infuse 4g and if you hold the power button down a few seconds it pops up with the options to put it in plane mode, power off, etc. but it also allows you to shut off the data plan. I am being very cautious with my data plan and turn it off quite often when im not using the phone. I was hoping for a quicker means to toggle it off/on like via the power button, or the scrollbare at the top of the screen when you drag the top of the screen down.
Any way to add this capability so I dont need to keep hitting settings and data usage?
Thank you
if you flash a rom with 15 toggle mod it comes with it in the status bar.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Or if you want a stock solution, use the widget Favorite Settings. It has the data usage button on there so you could just click it and take you straight to data usage to turn it off.
I haven ever flashed the roms or any of that before so I would need to go through and learn how to do it. but my main concern with those is that I would lose my tv-out functionality if I go to a different Rom from what I hear.
Thanks for the feedback
It would be cool to have it in the scroll bar if possible.
For now I have D/L'ed the "data enabler" app and put it on my home screen.
Or you can add the Settings widget 1x1 and select Data Usage. This gives you a 2 click solution to turn mobile data on/off.
I really hate the fact that the toggle isn't in the drop down menu. Makes me think ATT is resorting to methods of confusing is customers in order to nickel and dime us.
