I'm using the 26.06.02.27_M radio and loving it. My reception used to go up and down between 1-3 bars and now it is 4 bars solid. Battery lasts me 2-3 days with light use.
I heard that radio drains your battery ridiculously fast. Not true I guess?
I've had that radio for about 3 weeks or so and it seems fine on battery usage. Reception seems a lot better, but wifi for me is worse. Sometimes it won't even connect, but that might be the router's fault...
All anecdotal measurements of battery life and wireless performance ...
What radio yields the best battery life and reception varies depending on your geographic location. Unless people in your local area can recommend a specific radio, you are probably best using trial and error. The latest radio will not always yield the best results for your specific location (although is a good a starting point as any).
Anyone in the CA area want to recommend a radio? I've been wondering about this for a while.
Is there anyway to boost signal strength on dinc2?

I was just about to ask this too ha. The time I have no signal or 1x is quite a bit more than my incredible 1, which was worse than the dare I had. And its not just a "o the bars don't correlate well with true signal strength"
Its killing the battery.
You would think with all the advancements in cell phones the antenna would be more powerful..

U would think there would be a fix for it by now....I also have the thunderbolt. Areas that I don't have signal with dInc2, I have good signal my TB.... But ur right...with so much advancements there shouldn't be any antenna issues

Try going to google.com type signalbooster.apk not to sure how good it works but it will turn it radio on and off to get you a extra bar
Hey, I'm new here but I was messing around with the phone and noticed that changing the phone from Global settings to CDMA (I'm with Verizon) drastically improved signal, 3G reception, and battery life. My phone can be alive and alright with normal use for about 1.5 to 1.75 days. Maybe this will help? Good luck.
P.S. The phone was new out of the box, then fully charged; global settings on the phone reduced battery life (at least for me) to 4-5 hours of use.
Ima test it out and see if cdma settings help I get about 8 hrs of battery now

Where is that setting...looking for it and can't find it?
GINGERTH3ORY V4.5.1
APPS -> Settings -> Call -> Preferred Network
That seems to have helped me some with my signal. I noticed my bars aren't going crazy bouncing around as much and I actually gained a bar or two.

Word! That is already good news! Hopefully battery life will be better from the lack of constant signal searching.

Thanks for the tip. Now I get at least 1 bar throughout my house and the battery life seems to be way better.
probably since its not looking for a gsm tower now as a result.
Well I'm glad to hear it's helping a lot of people. I'm hoping to do more research around here to see what else I can do with these. All I've ever known before was WebOS.

I didn't notice much different...
But i will say.. my brother has the Moto X... I have the Inc2
Side by side, his signal strength will be at 80 - 90... while mine is 90 - 100.
Not good!
With all the technology around, why can''t they make a phone with consistent radio performance!!!

Unless they were calibrated with the same tools, you can't guarantee they will measure with the same accuracy.
i have a similar question but i am rooted (CM7). in my network settings i have several settings i am currently on CMDA/EvDo auto, my other choices are:
Global
EvDo only
CDMA w/o EvDo
GSM/WCDMA auto
WCDMA only
GSM only
GSM/WCDMA preferred
which is the better setting to maximize my battery and still improve my signal strength? Thanks a bunch!

I'm Running CM7 (THANK GOD) but I still cant find where to set CDMA
I just removed the Sim card That should force it to CDMA, but I am not sure.

Settings. Wireless & networks. Mobile networks. Network mode.
So i have an arc lt15i since april
and i think my battery life has been reduced since first purchase.
On FW 3.0.1.A.0.145 20-30 min 3G browsing=1%(100%-99%)
now on FW .62 33 3G min browsing=19% (100%-81%)
my signal is good -81dBm 16 asu
When i check in SE service test on battery health test it says:
Good,no need to replace it.
My arc condition is:
-had been repaired two times
first because restarting they give me new arc, second because 0% issue not new arc.
-never fall from anything
-unlocked bootloader via test point
-always changing ROM
-4181v on full battery.
-FW 62 , baseband 64 ,advanced stock kernel(doomlord)
-always overcharged every night
What i've tried:
-juice defender>not helping
-battery calibrating app from market>still same
-wifi browsing is about 10%/20mins
-decreasing brightness to 30%-50%
-turning off all sync
So my question is :
Do you think there is something to do with the repaired 0% battery arc?
Is my arc battery life normal?
Is there any app to check wear level?
How is your arc/arc s battery life when browsing on WCDMA/HSDPA?
Is SE service test true or not?
Does overcharging every night making my battery even worse?
Please give me some advice!
As you can see my grammar is bad so sorry about that
Thanks in advance.
I don't have exact numbers but the drain is less than yours and almost every night my Arc hangs on the charger while I'm sleeping.
Maybe you should stay on one ROM for a while and let the battery stats settle down.

hi, Ive been using a Arc in the US for about 1 month now on T-Mobile, though Baseband 56 is bad, it constantly gives me dropped signal and such. so which one would you consider? thanks !
Use 64. It's stable for me... on 36 I have some problems with GPS connections
Agree use -64 with baseband patch. That will save your day.
thanks for the reply, does it help with battery life?
-36 baseband has for most users the best battery life.
i tried 36 yesterday because i have Battery problems ( i am using FXP 104), but the drain is not better than with 56 before, now i want to try 64, but where can i download the ftf? most Filehosters seem to be down
And in Deposit Files i have to wait for hours because i already downloaded the Libs there today..
Thanks!
With 56 baseband I had alot problems with signals. Testing 36 now and it seems very nice this far.
For .fi users, 56 had no problems with Sonera but it seems that Saunalahti/Elisa is having promlems that drived me testing 36 and maybe later 64.
Hi everyone. I've bought my new xperia arc s on Wednesday and unfortunately I'm very disappointed with the battery performance. It is worse than my 3 years old iPhone. I've read many advices in the internet concerning this issue, but none of them gave any improvement for me. I want to emphasize, that I switched off: wifi, auto-sync, GPS & wifi localization etc. My display is at 30% of brightness. The only functions which are turned on are: 3g network and background data.
However, my smartphone needs to be charged after around 10 hours of not very heavy using (web browsing, ca. 20 minutes playing games such as angry birds or cut the ropÄ™ and 20 minutes of listening music player.
Today's performance was just tragic: 5 hours of working (less than 3.5 hours of the turned on screen; only 3g connection on). What should I do to improve these results or maybe the battery is broken and I should send the phone to the warranty service?
Thanks for help

Of course I'll wait, cause I don't want to miss my phone, which looks and works amazingly great. But do you have any tips which would help me to increase battery performance? All I need is 3g or wifi constantly turned on for google talk and facebook messenger.

Are you kidding me? It cannot be that bad.
My phone isn't arc s it's only arc but my battery lasts over 24 hours.
I run wifi and 3g always, usually there's over 1h of calls some web surfing and stuff. With this kinda usage it normallly last something like 36h. If i don't use phone it's over 48h.
You should check what has been using the battery.

I don't know how it's possible. I have only 3g data transfer turned on, while everything else is turned off. I checked in settings and it is screen which consumes 60%-70% of energy in my case. Is it normal? Moreover, could you tell me what is your maximum time of the screen turned on achieved without loading the battery?

Not kidding. Usually if i dont touch the phone, just the normal stuff that use the battery (display, idle etc.)
I use an app called my battery drain analyzer and it shows even when in idle the battery lose about 7%-8% in an hour.

Ill give u few suggestions
Turn the screen brightness to 30 40 % this will give you 4 5 hours more of stand by
Turn off 3g(data internet) it eats as much battery as the screen, use when u need it 4 6h more on stand by
GPS turn it off lol u dont need it to be turned on all the time, use it just when u need it
Im using this setup for 2 months not and its awesome im on 54% battery and the phone is charged before 21h.. i will have 30 + for sure

Hi, just some suggestions.
1. Do you use latitude?? That puts a huge dent in your battery.
2. Do you travel around during the day?? I find that my battery drops a lot quicker when the phone is forced to switch between towers a lot.
3. Try and check the date of manufacture on your battery, It may be old.
4. Did you properly condition your battery when you first got the phone (Takes about a week to do it right but well worth it in the long run)
5. See if you can borrow some one else's battery for a couple of days and see if it makes a difference?? (Isolation testing its called)
Or you could just have a bad battery, that happens.

I'm not sure how much my screen uses battery. I haven't evaluated screen always on usage.
I'm running currently at 46% 23h 3m 54s
voice calls 38% (1h 5m 20s)
wifi 19% (23h 3m 54s)
cell standby 14% (23h 3m 54s)
phone idle 12% (21h 45m 47s)
display 11% (47m 32s)
after these come other less significant stuff like Android OS, Android System, Web browser etc.
In my use are: DoomKernel v20 undervolted -75mv and Juice Defender.
I have also removed many softwares that are useless for me like support.apk etc.

It must be bad battery. If no apps are draining your batt.
read this thread get the betterbattery stats and check it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433309
it will identify it down to a specific app or a module in the kernel, where the drain is coming from.

Man, this is a problem that occours in every android phone, even those ones which have a more powerful battery.
I use an Arc S overclocked (but not too much) and the battery lifes varies a lot, depending on which kernel and which rom I use. The best battery life i've find so far was DoomKernel ICS v4 with Arconium ICS v5. But it was a little bit laggy and now I'm using KA13 with the same kernel. The battery life is not bad, but not really good.
Sony knows this issue and I'm sure they're working in order to fix this on the official release of ICS. Just wait
