Anyone know of an app or can I just go on verizon and block all callers listed as unknown or private? I don't care about numbers unknown to me, I specifically mean when they block their number?

Thanks.. ill try it out.. I don't know how but some people that sound like they're using VoIP over a 56k modem keep calling me for a completely different person and I've told them repeatedly its the wrong number... They'll stop for a few days and then call every night again until I answer... And its always between 1000 and 1030. I just had a baby and I don't need another thing waking him up

Incase anyone was wondering. If you add the contact as Unknown or whatever kind is calling you (i.e. restricted or private) and you put the number as -1. The number can be easily blocked

Possible the last 3 are an extension, seen that before.
It just makes me wonder what site I visited or what app could of shot my number to some jenky ass overseas server. I have the 3rd party charge block on all my lines so well see if it's anything important.

Just blacklist the number
Can you find your telephone # in here ?
http://tndb.us
If yes, make a case with your provider/carrier because it violation of your privacy, and can be used by scamers and telemarketing companies. I found this and my number and name on it by coincidence...
Main directory numbers are AREA codes, second directory is 3 digit middle number and last directory is 4 last diggits of your phone (etc 707/662/8955)

Luckily my number wasn't in the database, but still this is crazy. But then again any reverse lookup would give you the same information.

What is this....?
Epic 4G Touch perfected by Tiff and Calk!
It's a site that collects user info (name, phone #) from US customers, and there is big chanses that those information are realised by our carriers (no guarantee)

Mine's there: (Both my numbers actually)....
So, what do I win again?

Totally interesting. I always thought you couldnt reverse lookup cell phone numbers. And I wonder why some peoples numbers are listed and others arent. Interested what sprint has to say about this.

Thankfully mine isn't in there.

Oh you called Erik, figures sprint would play dumb. They're probably trained to say that BS about respecting your privacy. I would be pissed if my number was in there.

How? Not for me thank god. But, I used to think it was fake. I probably rooted/fixed 100 phones this week. And, I saw it today on a friends phone. He's on probation and doesn't need that

Have you tried using titanium backup or root explorer to delete it

That's a great idea. Thank you for your response. Totally worked. One more question, though.
It seems to get installed when you get a weird phone call. I already blocked unknown calls and a few likely suspects. Is there something more I can do. Like make it so only his contacts can call him?

where on phone did you see it? using root explorer or something? always thought was untraceable once installed..would be nice to know to look
Well best thing you can use is root call blocker, it works best but its paid app. Has that feature to just have calls from contacts. Also has reject too that works better than the built-in one..

might wanna tell "buddy" that if he got cases big enough for cops to tap his phones he might wanna switch to something other than his personal cell to conduct business or if it might just be wifey keeping tabs to make sure he aint banging the next new thing then he might wanna do the same because she can always order an in depth statement on calls and texts.... just saying
What? What's this about an app (or something) being installed from just receiving a phone call?
I'm no where near an expert or a dev but I never heard of anything like this. Unless the phone was already infected PRIOR receiving the 'weird' phone call.
Edit: OK.. I just Googled it, and sure enough it MUST be installed first. There are 2 versions, 1 - the LITE version can be installed on any android phone, but doest intercept live calls (and other things). 2 - the OMNI version requires a rooted phone, and you can intercept live phone calls and listen in.

If you don't do anything wrong then there is nothing to be paranoid about.

very true....but can never be to safe..just as thread started it just appeared.
So i learned something new today.
If you text
Block followed by the phone number to 9999
Sprint will block all texts from that number for you.

Text "Help all" to 9999 to display all the.block options.
This can also be done through the sprint website through your account preferences. You can also block up to 100 people from calling you.
Good to know.
This is awesome news. I just started receiving this crap about junk cars.
An app from the market called "airpush detector" works great for identifying what apps are spamming you.
Is there a way to have our phones display where a call is coming from if the person calling is not in your contact list.
here try this out, i do believe itll fit the build
Try Youmail it will also tell you the company/person name if it is not in your contact list
Doesn't Mr. Number do that also? Shows it on the call screen.
What modem are you using? Samsung phones are finicky, and many users are reporting a huge difference in signals simply by switching modems.

Yup Mr.Number does this, a very useful app. It even tells you who the number is registered to.

Maybe I'm dense, but what is "LL"?
I'm guessing LL = landlines
So next month we finally get the technology landlines have been capable of for 20 years
