...and i don't know what to do.
I uninstalled busybox because i wanted to install an older version(was reading about v6 supercharger) and lost root because of it somehow.
i wanted to just use zergRush again but was afraid of messing things up and made a factory reset (superuser still on the phone even after i checked deleting sdcard).
now i cant use zergrush because he doesnt find ANY files and just reboots the phone, i cant connect to my Home Wifi (stuck at obtaining ip adress) and i somehow cant do anything with SE PC Companion Support zone (doesnt recognize sd card).
what can i do to root it or at least gain Wifi again.
im pretty clueless rightnow...
edit: arc s 2.3.4 .42 fw, locked bootloader
reflash, root and than supercharge
do i have to flash just the firmware or/and the kernel?

Tried looking around but I haven't had much luck on this one. Since Froyo became available sometime around the 18th via the LG updater I have yet to see a way to root this thing. z4 and universal just don't work. Anyone have a method to this madness?
Note: This isn't my phone but really a work phone. The one my co workers and myself use is not really in need of root but my manager uses wifi tether like a crack addict and needs it. Right now I told him to just say no to the update since it's now being pushed via OTA.
Rooted Ally Froyo OTA update
I also have the same question kind of.. OTA Froyo update came this morning but we (my girls phone)have denied it because we use tether more than we want Flash someone Please let me know when Ally Froyo is Rooted. THX.
Well my wife has the LG Ally and since she's had it I've been playing with it. It actually took a bit to get the update to load, but once it did I realized I lost root. I didn't think much of it because I had backups, but restoring them didn't work which meant that I wasn't able to downgrade and try installing a rooted version.
I then found that I could download the Superuser app in a zip file and use it in a custom recovery to install as root.
First get the latest Superuser zip file for froyo, su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip,here and put it on the root of your sdcard.
Then reboot into your recovery. The easiest way to get into the recovery is to power off the phone and then press SEND + MENU + tap END, keep tapping END until you see the LG screen. Once you see the LG screen you can let go.
Now you need to navigate through your custom recovery to use the zip file.
Amon-ra: Flash zip menu > Flash zip from sdcard > su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip.
ClockWork: Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard > su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip.
Once it is done loading reset and you should be good to go!
Credit goes to ChainsDD for the awesome app!
I am stuck at the reboot into recovery, since I did not have root prior to the upgrade to 2.2.1, I cannot install a custom recovery to finish this method. Any ideas? This version locks out the files I need to push to!!!
Well so far z4root no matter what version doesn't work, think it has to do with the patch they applied in 2.2.1 Superoneclick just gets stuck in a loop on rageagainstthecage so I'm at a loss. Android Forums has the long route on how to root but to be honest I know I will screw something up. Anyone have a solution? I was rooted before but I never installed a custom recovery as this a work phone.
If you turn off the phone and then plug it into the computer and hold SEND + MENU + hit END to turn it on does it stay with the screen that shows a white triangle, a !, and the android guy? If so see if you can use adb shell and have it connect with the phone. I'm not ever sure if after the update you can get into it. You can use either VOL-DOWN + HOME + tap END or the previous method. The last one should get you the bootloader and if you connect your phone here to your computer you should get a "fastboot" device installed, or something like that. If you can get here you can flash a custom recovery. I think there is a way to do it via the recovery as well. Once you can get into either of those we can get you root.

try to re flash the phone with it again, if all else fails..... factory reset
lg ally wont root
Apparently I got my phone when verizon figured out a way to block all rooting apps. My LG Ally won't root using any of the suggested apps such as z4 root any version, superuser nor universal androot and I refuse 2 do that long drawn out process provided in newer manuals that's just ridiculous. We shouldn't b force 2 keep applications tht we don't want.
I didn't hv 2 update my phone it came with the 2.21 version alreayd installed. I did a factory reset twice and my phone won't work until I call verizon for them 2 reactivate it and once I do that all of the preinstall crap is already on phone as soon as its activated
It's too bad we don't have a method to root like on the Nook Color where you take a formatted SD card and boot from it...

I haven't figured out how to re-root yet but I did find a suggestion somewhere in a forum that worked for tethering. Download the Quick Settings app (with the green gear icon) from the market and it gives you and option to turn on wifi hotspot without rooting. It'll bypass the fee Verizon charges while using the app they added in Froyo.

While I agree that we should not have to keep apps on our devices that we do want or intend to use-if you want them gone-you MUST follow the "long drawn out process" to root the device and remove those apps. Otherwise-just deal with the apps being there.

Also having issues
Having problems with z4mod application also. I tried rooting it with/without SD card in, connected/disconnected from the computer. The app runs, but it gets as far as "acquiring root shell" and then goes back to my home screen. No superuser app or busybox. I even tried installing busybox from the market and it just says Phone not rooted. Its kinda aggravating me. I'm kinda tired of tethering because of the net timeouts. Can't chat on IRC.
Android vers: 2.2.1
Crap!
So I've been modifying the phone slowly to try & make it run a little faster. So far, I rooted & eliminated a lot of the bloatware that comes on the Rogers version in Canada. Then I read that you could try running the V6 Supercharger script to make memory use more efficient.
So, I ran the script without problems (that I could see) & did a clean reboot? The phone turned off & just sort of froze. After 15 minutes, I guess is was stuck in a boot loop, so I took out the battery (I'm pretty sure I read that this might happen when running the script)
OF course, when I tried to turn on the phone, NOTHING HAPPENS! So, I've bricked the device. When I plug it into the PC via the USB, it registers as a ZEUS flash device in the Device Manager.
What does one do at this point?
I have the flashtool installed & am thinking that I might start with flashing a Generic UK tft to see if the phone will even start up.
Am I on the correct path here? I'm relatively new to this, so I'm short on experience.
Thanks in advance.
LT15A using .42
rooted with Titanium Backup
Script Manager installed
try to boot it for 2nd time,if still stuck, unmount your sd
Sent from my LT18i
I'm not sure I understand. I tried taking out the SD card. Removed the battery. Still won't do anything when I push the power.
If I can't get the device to power on, how do I go about unmounting the sd card? Doesn't that have do be done within the phone?
I'm not sure I understand. I've tried booting it several times. Nothing.
As for unmounting the SD card, don't you have to do that inside the phone? I've tried taking the SD card out & powering up, but no change.
As a side note, I tried flashing the Generic UK firmware with flashtool and the result was that the phone didn't connect when the USB was plugged in. No blue light. Nothing.
I'm pretty sure that there is something wrong with the phone coming up in the Device Manager as a "ZEUS Flash Device" under the Universal Serial Bus controllers tab. See image.
From what you've done so far I'd considered looking at FLASHING the phone again and starting fresh.
I am using the Xperia Arc (locked bootloader from Rogers)
BUT I'm on the Bell Network.
This is what I've been up to today
Flashed the phone to .42 firmware
Rooted using SuperOneClick 2.3.3
I did NOT remove anything I went straight to doing the update to .62
Once that's done I just loaded Titanium and removed all the bloadware apps and restored some of my APPS from the backup I did.
No hickups at this point.

I tried flashing the phone using Generic UK firmware, but flashtool (version 0.6.7.0) doesn't recognize my device when I plug in the USB.
You might to check the Unbricking post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322827
i told to unmount because v6 saved its setting on sd,in the forder there are backup for build prop and local prop, take it out and delete the folder, then reboot to recovery to push those file to system, overwriting the current that cause the brick..
Sent from my LT18i
missing local.prop?
Oh, I think I understand. I'll try that. However, I fear that when I took the SD card out & tried booting it without any card in it, it still didn't power on.
When I check the folders This is the list I have under the SuperCharger folder. I don't see any local.prop backup file. That seems to be a big problem, yes?
Closed case
So, I sent the phone in under warranty thinking that they wouldn't do it, and lo & behold, they sent back the phone in working condition.
you should made some backup before trying new thing, keep that in mind mate..

My issue started after updating to kitkat(stock), i have the wifi only model
Im trying to (re)install this https://github.com/borh/nexus-7-2013-arch-scripts
But im getting stuck on the first step of the install script - "chroot cannot execute /su/su-mksh no such file or directory"
eventho su-mksh IS there (i tried rerooting, prerooted stock, busybox in different locations and finally even using the root toolbox.. with wipes in between ofc).. root acess seems to be fine with every other app (clearly stuff like linux deploy dont work either.. yes i even tried the hurtful way )
Soo whats new in kitkat? it starts to feel like i need another kernel?
My friend gave me his phone to root.I used kingo root. i rooted as usual and said root successful.
but after the reboot, the phone comes to the homepage and then reboots.I pulled the battery and tried again and even then its rebooting . My friend has some files on the internal memory which he needs and has no backup of.
i have had previous experience rooting and flashing.
Someone please help me.

hmm i think you miss something, you miss to enable remount reboot fixer. if you root your phone in locked bootloader condition you need to install remount reboot fixer first. you can search in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47378231&postcount=1
and for this problem you need to reflash your stock rom and try to re-root your phone and add this script after successfully root your phone ok :good:
