[Q] Stock Kernel with GPU Full Power - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
I want to ask for a Stock Kernel 4.02, which stays completely stock, but brings the GPU to 384Mhz full speed. Can somebody do that? Thanks!

Might have to compile yourself. It's just a matter of changing one or two lines of code. I need a stock kernel with full gpu and undervolting available. Sucks that patch won't work with 4.0.2 and up. I had some great undervolting and stable too.

[Q] gpu overclocking options

can anyone point me to a post where i can flash GPU overclock settings? im at stock 308 mhz now (from franokernel milestone 2) but want to test 380 mhz (which can get a 10 - 14% increase in performance). and a flashable image back to 308?
or does anyone know of an app that allows gpu overclocking on our phone?
im on the CDMA vzw gnexus, running AOSP 4.0.4 from birdman on franco's milestone 2
thanks in advance!

But doesn't that automatically overclock it? Without the option to return back?

Francos newer Kernels come in 2 different variants, one with stock GPU and one with GPU oc'ed. Otherwise they are exactly the same. So you can flash the oc'ed one then back to GPU to test them out and whatnot.
To return back you can simply flash franco.Kernel Milestone 2 again.
EDIT: anton2009 beat me to it.
and we're talking about his nightlies, correct? no app options that we know of?

Hi,
You can test this kernel:http://rootzwiki.com/topic/14703-09-apr-glados-v127/ and with the app of the developper's kernel you can overclock your GPU "on the fly",without reflash the kernel.
Available GPU frequencys:307.2Mhz/384Mhz/512Mhz.
And you can do a lot of other things with this kernel/app.

Overclock flash kernels for Galaxy Nexus w/ Jelly Bean (4.1)?

I rooted my Galaxy Nexus two days ago and I got the new Jelly Bean OS, but problem is now my phone's CPU is back to 1.2 GHz and I would like to overclock it back to about 1.4-1.5 GHz. I have an extended battery so overclocking really isn't an issue with me.
Has anyone developed any kernels I can flash onto this new OS phone?

I'm using Franco's kernel, which allows for overclocking up to 1.9Ghz. You'll need to buy his app though I think to be able to set the custom speed (or wait for a ROM that has the feature built-in).

Riiiight... SetCPU ... It's been a while since I've used that one so I forgot about it . Used to use it on my Nexus One though, great app.
However if you're using Franco's kernel, buying his app is a great way to support the dev plus you get easy access to all the possible tweaks you can make with his kernel. Worth every cent !

Best route for overclocking with CM10?

This is my first rooted device and I'd like to set the CPU frequency higher. I've read that 1600 is moderately safe and 1800 is feasible. After installing setcpu I've realized that CM10's kernel does not allow overclocking. What is the best action to take? Am I out of luck if I want to stick with CM10? Or is there another kernel I can use compatible with CM10? Thanks for reading.

Try kt kernel in original development, I've used it with great success. Has oc up to 1.89. Also allows you to under volt to save some battery. In conjunction with ktoonz kernel get voltage control from the market to adjust cpu clock and voltages.

Mine has been getting pretty damn hot just at stock clock speeds...you sure you want to do that? CM10 is so fast already!

Thanks for the suggestion. I used Leankernel all day without a single issue that isn't specific to CM10 right now.
P.S. I also upgraded the modem to I747UCLH1 from this thread. To anyone interested, test your data speed on all three modems to find the best one to keep. My rates doubled with this new modem.
Kt new kernel up. 2.1ghz ktweeker app. Running Sammy version and it's blazin fast.

Hey this might be a bit late on this thread, but Siyah has just released an updated, which works with cm10 and allows for overclocking up to 1600, and undervolting to save on that ole battery... currently for the galaxy s3
Obligatory reminder:
Not all phones are the same. Some tolerate overclock/undervolt better than others. What you WANT your phone to do may not actually be what it WILL do. Start slow, only change one step at a time. I would recommend finding the perfect oc point for your phone, then slowly, slowly working the undervolt into it.

Cyanogenmod 7 and 10 overclocking questions

hi i'm looking to overclock my sprint epic 4g cpu up to 1.8ghz and also the gpu to 300mahz and 72hz refresh rate
on either cyanogenmod 7 or 10
what kernel and ROM and CPU/GPU overclocking apps should I use with voltage control and what (safe) voltages should I try for the cpu and gpu ARM and Internal voltages (what build number do I need for cm 7 or 10 (either stable or nightly)
also I noticed that the slide out keyboard shift and function keys don't work on cyanogenmod 10 stable build not sure about a nightly build
I'd like to fix the keyboard too
i'd like to be able to turn the boot logo on and off and possibly change it to a different one and also add a boot up sound to the logo
should I use the franko or samurai or maybe a different kernel ?
what modem should I use for max speed (EL30 FC09 FC19 or Nexus LF2 K2 ?) and compatible rom
I know how to install everything just need advice
If all of the above isn't possible at least I'd like to get the CPU to the highest possible speed past 1.2 ghz if possible most of all and not have random reboots or lockups or sleep of death and woking keyboard and least amount of bugs in the rom
Thank you so much in advance for any advice
Do your shift and Fn keys work if you hold them down when using them? Kind of like the way you would use them on a PC keyboard?

Last thing I know of that had what you're looking for is CM9 with Samurai Kernel. The processor clocks to 1.5 Ghz and I believe the gpu is overclocked to 400Mhz. Idk what the refresh rate for the screen is, but that combo would probably be the closest to what you're looking for

^^^^this... there is no franco kernel here, that's for the epic touch... nobody has been able to overclock this phone past 1.6 Ghz... samurai had 1.6 at one point, but it was removed because there were stability issues with most phones trying to overclock that high... samurai has always been my favorite kernel from tw gb roms all the way to cm9... sadly development stopped when earthbound upgraded and there is no samurai kernel for cm10 or 10.1... everybodies phone is different and handles overclocking differently... best bet is to just keep trying combinations until you find your perfect match...

I have used it on CM9, and got it to 1.4 comfortably, but the kernel itself was quarky as hell. The battery died when unclocked and- just all in all at bad kernel.
im curious on what he did to make it do that though. Was it an app he combined into the kernel? Did he expand something?
Technically- OC"ing is just like any normal OC. INcrease the multiplier or frequency and then manipulate the voltage to handle the work. But- THe couple app i foudn that do that- like uh... setcpu, targek or something all arent supported by our rom/kernel/ something. Its rather frustrating.
With the Packman ROM im using, he combined the Performance control into the rom, and you can actually change the voltages- but.. i cant make it go faster.
TO go on with that- i still cant find a way to OC the GPU. i see people saying they got it up to 400mhz. or something. But- HOW!? an app? Kernel again!? heck, i dont even know what the stock settins are. :/
GPU overclocking is achieved in the kernel.

1. He did it by being a kernel master... 2. they aren't supported because of the kernel you're using. 3. And again, the kernel you're using. The only way to overclock the gpu is with the samurai kernel.
4. And most importantly, for everything you want out of a kernel, it's about time to learn Linux and build your own kernel...

Aww man I miss Samurai's 400MHz GPU OC... But the Voodoo defaults there is VERY terrible... Just why isn't there a kernel with ONLY GPU OC (i.e. no CPU OC up to like 1.4GHz (I think games depend more badly on GPU) and no Voodoo and such)...

If you build it, they will flash it!
Yes, for those looking for an easy way out, it's not going to happen. Learn to make a kernel then learn how to manipulate the settings. If it was easy then everyone would be doing it. No one has any other spoon fed answers.
I think not having an easy way out may be the definition of xda-developers. Forget where I read it but it's about the journey rather than the destination, which I know doesn't hold true for every one but I know it does for me.

GPU overclocking kernel request

Found this in another forum. Wanted to get exposure to the possibility.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087853&postcount=2
From another poster: He references using "siyah" kernel in his S3, which appears to be an international version with the same processor as we have. He indicates the need for "stweaks". He talks about GPU "steppings" so I'm not sure if Andrielux has changed these in his kernel. I installed the app "stweaks" but it wouldn't load as it said "no kernel support".
Wow!!! What in the world. Is this for real? I wonder how stable it is. From 440 up to 800?! They are using some app called Stweaks (and the kernel of course) to do it. Love to see that on our Note 2.
And since it seems that the GPU wasn't changed much....from the Galaxy s2 series... "700 Mhz - 1100 mv" is only 75mv higher than the stock 440...and accoring to the forums stable. A 70% increase in speed and stable. This is a must have for any newer kernels.
His kernel does have it. Read the n7100 thread for directions

It's about 1/3 the way down the OP with a beige arrow and a GPU frequency table. The few paragraphs below explain how to overclock the GPU via adb/terminal.
** Edit: AndreiLux just posted a new update which includes STweaks support.
Perseus kernel supports GPU overclocking now using STweaks. And it FLIES. Wow.

Stweaks slow overclocking but if you OC it by 100mhz laugh amd giggles numbers. What kind of actual gpu performance are you getting. I see with.stock better real life performance.during.gaming versus his kernel. So if I were to oc just to match stock is pointless to me.
why overheat the gpu when I can get the same performance on stock kernel.
It has to be the way he has it coded. Till it matches stock and further progress dev for it ill step in. I do appreciate his work and time. But for me I need something better than stock. I got this phone for a reason haha.

What kind of performance? I beat the Nexus 4 as the highest rating 3D for a GPU in the market on Antutu. And it's noticeably different. Fun for extrme gaming I guess. But it affect the entire speed of the phone too.
Did you try it yet? The kernel is EXCELLENT. Going to donate from my next paycheck to dev. Thanks again.

Why would I need a kernel to overclock the gpu to match stock gpu clock from stock kernel to get same performance performance. Neak is on the s3 not Note 2 unless he or it in that Rom but still.
I want a custom kernel that can match the GPU performance on the stock kernel without the need of overclocking

Should we test it? I asked him if it will work on the Sprint version of the Note 2. I can't imagine why it would not.
FYI, STweaks is working for the Perseus kernel as of build 27. My GPU is currently at 733Mhz and I've undervolted all settings by 25 - no issues.

Sorry but I will not ill be sticking to stock maybe in the future. That kernel seems weird not sure which to choose. And like I said, I don't see the point of downloading a kernel know that will I will basically need to overclock the gpu just to get the same performance as I would on the stock kernel.
