I have been using the lte g.nexus for about two weeks now and i cannot stand the battery life let me explain
Im on screen timeout 15 sec auto brightness.
Operating on 3g mode only and my average batt time is abouy 4 hours of moderate to heavy use(no bluetooth r gps included) ive heard stories of batt conditioning when i got my g.nexus i charged it to green and immediately begin using it. I even let it drain to zero the first two charge cycles. I dont have any syncing apps doing auto sync except my google account and no one app seems to be sucking juice the screen is always using between 40%-60% in the usage stats is this normal i.never had this problem with my bionic.
that F'ing ridiculous that you are only getting a few hours on your g-nex especially since you have turned a lot of things off or to a minimum. i would either go to a verizon store to try to get a replacement or purchase an extended battery.

Not trying to hijack this thread but I'm starting to think my battery is bad too. I've been giving it time because this is only my 4th day with it, but its just atrocious.
Yesterday: charged to 100% and took off charger immediately around 4 pm. After a moderate amount of texting, 10 minute phone call, and my 4 Gmail accounts syncing in the background on 3g the whole time, the battery died around 11pm. The screen on time was maybe 1.5 hours.
I'm running Android Revolution rom with the included stock kernel. Everyone reports about how awesome the battery life is with that rom, but if 7 hours is good battery life then I don't know what to expect.

Im starting to wonder if the phone or either the battery is at fault because i see a lot of usera spread out across the net complaining of similar problems. Is there is a certain way to traim the batteru the first day or so because i love this phone but i refuse to buy an ext. Batt jus to make it thru a work shift.only on 3g ..anyone else having this problem or know of a fix?
I've heard some glitch about the camera sensor staying on in the background in a different thread. Search for it in xda

My battery was only worknig for a few hours with the extended battery when i looked at the battery usage it said 70% mediaserver. looked up online and it said if you have a picture or vid that is corrupted it can cause mediaserver to keep trying which i had a photo gallery widget on home screen. when i deleted img and deleted widget im now getting like 10x more battery life.
I am getting good battery life.
During my sleep or when my phone is idle or when I know I am not using it for a long period of time, I switch my phone to 2G.
Below is a screenshot of my battery usage during a long period of idle (overnight when I am sleeping)

I only switch it to 3G when I am actively using the Internet for surfing websites, Facebooking, Youtube, uploading photos or video.
Below is a screenshot of my usage from light to moderate to heavy.
I went into the bathroom with full charge and after I did my daily deed(s) I went down to 43% with brightness turned all the way down and only running xda app. wtf gives?

Sure sure it's with light use, but just the fact that it can hit 6+ hours screen time after more than a day and a half... sits pretty well with me.
No games, 30% screen brightness, 74 mins of calls, quite a bit of texting & whatsapp, 30 odd mins browsing, wifi 100%, sync on, only 1 widget.
aokp, lean kernel, undervolted, K6, extended battery.
Loving this phone!!!

NICE!!! Can't wait till my extended battery comes in.
Nice. I've had my extended battery for 2 days now and I am seriously impresses ed with it. It on my drive home I'm at 65% instead of 30%. I really think the extended battery should of come stock.
I got a similar 6 hour in airplane mode. I was watching a movie while roaming on vacation.
Verizon stock rom. stock battery.
Even stock SGN makes wonders with battery on Wi-Fi But still your stats are truly amazing
OP did charge the phone for a bit....like 3 times don't know for how long....but nonetheless amazing stats...

No, he didn't? Look closer on first screenshot. There is no sign of charging on those lines below the graph. Those places where graph line goes up are pretty normal and that doesn't mean device war charging.

Nah I didn't charge it at all, as the other guys pointed out. I remember my battery dropping to 4%, I then put down my phone and when I came back later on, it was reading 5%. I thought I was going crazy, but looking at the graph now I see it really did happen. It raised from 4% to 5% and stayed there for a bit before dropping to 4% again.
Anyway, I hope this wasn't a one off... it's not doing as well today with the same usage. We'll see...

Actually, the phone calls don't do much damage... You should be able to talk 11hours on this phone apparently...
I am very jealous. I am lucky to get 3-3.5 of web surfing.
With standard battery, you can get almost 11 hours screen on time (by doing nothing):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1366878&highlight=max+battery
So, that's the limit
My experience with extended battery, 2000 mAH, GSM, I could get 4 and a half screen on time with 61 hours stand by time. For sure, it can go down to 6 hours or more screen on time if I down the standby time. All with stock ROM, stok kernel, un-locked
It is not difficult to achieve that knowing the limit, all depends on how you set it up and how do you use your phone.
I m using domination HD ROM. But have used kernelpanic as well I found this problem in both the ROMs wifi takes a lot of battery juice and when I am using the phone wifi keeps getting disconnected and connected. Is it a known issue?

I'd day it is normal. It isn't actually sucking up much power. Mine is at 65% and my battery is still almost full.
Is that so ? How many hours after it's plugged off the charger? I fully charge my cell and if I keep wifi on in the night. in the morning it comes to around 80 percent in 7 hours
Sent from my nitro hd using tapatak
7 hours, was still at 90%. Had it on all night by accident. Wifi becomes negligible when I begin to use other apps. Any game outweights my wifi really quickly. Anyway to see exactly how much drain an app has aside from the "about phone" "battery use"?
Now, please, screenshot of 8 hours with wifi off. Then we'll talk
I use systempanel app for it. it doesn't show wifi drawing a lot of battery juice though. But still do you notice wifi keeps getting disconnected?

[email protected] I will put that screenshot tomorrow morning then means after 11 hours
Screens with wifi off 8 hrs 18 display on still at 94 battery

Quiet impressive. My guess is you have not much installed there, no push mail, no weather, nothing like this?
The signal strength seems to help this as well.
My phone left during night with wifi on, cell signal at 2-3 bars (although I can see the cell tower from my window 3 block away), plugged into computer in sleep mode (which for some reason doesn't charge the phone), in the morning after 6 hours leaves about 80-85%. But I do have 3 push mail boxes, weather, news and gps enabled.
btw have you noticed that the temperature is always generally above 35 degree C. even when the outside temperature is below 15 and the device is untouched for hours.. in the screenshot.. temperature shown is 32 while the outside temperature was about 15. and it was taken in the morning after untouching the device for 7 hrs.
Have you seem something like this in your battery consumption
Sent from my unlocked rooted Nitro HD using tapatalk
Anyone got any idea what is draining my battery sooooo fast? I've had strong signal all day, for the most part minimal brightness..turned wifi of when not in use, didn't even play any games today... I left the house at 8:30 and it was dead at 6:45, before I even got home. Also, only made one short official today.

The built in LG apps are known to eat up the battery. If you are rooted, you can use NoBloat to disable these applications.
Here is a website that has a list of the applications that are safe to disable: http://androidadvices.com/optimize-lg-nitro-hd-phone-performance-removing-bloatware/
I'm not gonna lie, I'm scared to root it. This is my first Android phone.and if I screw it up I won't have a phone for quite some time.
Sent from my LG-P930 using XDA App
I understand your fear, but if you read the directions closely and go slowly the likelihood of bricking the phone is small. Rooting by itself isn't too dangerous - the dangerous part is loading CWM and ROMs, and the risk will be greatly reduced when (if) we get CyanogenMod for our phones...
After CM9 came over to our Phone still Wifi takes a huge percentage of battery drain and usage. I have seen my frens Galaxy nexus and his wifi was on for 10 hrs still it was taking 3% of battery . in our case it would take more than 20% if its on for 10 hrs
I am on CM10 now and WiFi is still the biggest battery drainer by far..
on other phones typically the screen was using the most battery. WiFi is typically battery efficient.
My phone went from 95% - 68% with WiFi on (but not using it) AND while on airplane mode.
There is some issue with wifi drivers
Is this good battery life? Just updated to 4.04 GSM galaxy from Google play

A single screen shot shows us absolutely NOTHING about battery life.
Your battery is also almost full...
Use the phone a full day 100% to 5%, then screenshot your overview, graph, screen on, awake, and signal times. THEN we'll be able to tell.

battery life is definitely improved on 4.0.4 , i'm getting between 45min-1hr more screen ON time (mostly surfing and reading xda) than on 4.0.2
i use live wallpaper and autobrightness, wifi always ON, everything stock with no tweaks, stock 1750mAh battery
Can you also post the battery voltage when you almost depleted your battery?
It can let us to see if the battery is correctly calibrated to show the proper percentage value. I encountered up to 1 hour different in screen on time with a non calibrated GN.
To know your voltage, dial *#*#4636#*#* (*#*#info#*#*) (no need press call).
Go to battery info and see the battery voltage value.
The galaxy nexus will always get awful battery. I have never gotten over 2.5h screen time and.I have tried every rom, literally. I can't really get over 14h stanbdy either.
I can verify I seem to have better battery life after the 4.04 update.
Does it take awhile for this battery to settle in? It's just been 2.5 hours since my first charge and I'm already down to 90%. All I did was send a few texts and receive a couple of short calls. Can't remember if I experienced this on other phones but after hearing about how great the S3's battery life is, I'm a little disappointed.
I think it's great. It's a lot better than my Epic 4g Touch, that's for sure.
And 10% per 2.5 hours is pretty good IMO.. That's 2.5 * 10 = 25 hours of battery. That's pretty sick lol.
Just remember to turn off wifi/bluetooth when not in use, and turn off LTE if it's not active in your area (so the phone doesn't keep searching for the 4G signal).
Yeah, wait for it to settle. This phone definitely has the best battery out of everything I've owned...and I've had a few phones, believe me lol

I've been on wifi the whole time.
I sometimes get more than 2 days on a charge. I try not to use phone while charging, causes inefficient charging(supposedly).
this message brought to you by my GalaxyS3 running Phantom's Blazer v1.6
I must be doing something very wrong. I really got horrible battery life in my phone and I only got 4 apps installed: xda, rage of bahamut, Facebook, and power amp. The ones that can be on sync I turn it off. I'm currently running on CM10 but was on stock for about 3 weeks and blazer for about 2 weeks. All with similar battery life. 2 hrs of screen on time with 13 hrs on battery. On my epic touch I could do 5 hrs of screen on with 24hr battery and evo lte 7 hrs of screen on and 18+ on battery. I've already switched batteries so I know its not a defective one. I got no email syncing and brightness is always set on lowest unless I'm outside its at 50%. I will try to post a picture of better battery stats, CPU spy, and see if anyone can help me figure out what I can do to improve it. Really disliking battery life right now and hope it will get better
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I personally just went 26 hours with 3 hours screen on time in CM10. That's way better than my Evo 4G could do, so I'm extremely happy with my battery life by comparison. This phone has been awesome for me.
Edit: That time includes leaving Wifi and mobile data enabled at all times, with data mode set to CDMA/LTE. I also left everything syncing like normal.
Coming from a EVO LTE so far my battery life been unimpressive. Loving the phone, but not digging the battery.

My sister who also got the phone as the same time has about right hour screen on time. Did I screw up or it's just my battery being defective

Well, when I'm in door, I use low brightness most of the time. Only when I'm outside I would use auto brightness. Since I'm in wifi zone most of the time, yes I do have wifi on. I mostly use my phone for twitter, web browsing, and youtube, nothing heavy like gaming or benchmark.
Hard to say if its defective but I've definitely seen a lot better battery. It might not hurt to try and get a new one.

you should calibrate your battery a couple times once you get the phone. do it a couple times and it will fix itself. also check all your syncing settings. this phone will deplete a battery in 5-6 hours if fully charged and phone brightness is up all the way while watching videos.
Calibrating batteries is a myth from the days of older battery technology. Draining your battery to 0 on purpose is actually killing your battery faster because you just used up one cycle.

There's a bug on stock that makes cell standby much higher than it really is. So I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Also, Google Chrome is a huge battery killer for some reason. Consider switching to a different browser?
Still having the original battery in my vibrant and getting 8-9 hour charges while killing the battery 100% and charging it up once a week does nothing? Same thing for my g2x. I get about 10-11 hours on the thing daily original battery as well. If anything and you're not rooted to delete battery stats, its a good thing to do a couple times. I don't think I have hurt the battery at all, and if anything they still last very long...
