Lag turning screen off - Samsung Captivate Glide

I wonder if anyone else has this problem. It's not so much of a "problem" but more like an annoyance. When I turn the screen off, there's a slight "lag" where the brightness turns off a bit, and then turns off. It should be fading away to black, not changing brightness.
If anyone notices this, can you tell me if you see it too?
The problem is like noticing something that wasn't there before, and when you find out it's there, it bugs the hell out of you. (one of those feelings)

I'm pretty sure that's Samsung default. And it doesn't change the brightness when you reunlock

Ahh alright. Thank you lol. I came from HTC and it was one of their features so I didn't know if Samsung had that feature or not.

Screen fading in and out at random??

Hey, I am new to this forum, but just go the EVO (first Android phone) and loving it maybe too much. I'm also working on a couple of games which I hope to share soon.
Anways, I got mine on the 4th since I pre-ordered it a couple weeks in advance from Best Buy. I have been lucky to not have any of the problems others have been having, but something I just noticed recently, and only in the Market, but this could be because it is a mainly white screen that you stay on for long periods while browing apps so it is easier to notice.
The screen seems to randomly fade slightly darker and then back to normal, but slowly. I don't mean the regular screen idle fade because I have mine set to 10 minutes. I will be scrolling, and then the screen will just fade slightly and then in like 5-10 seconds will go back to normal, and then fade again in a couple minutes.
Not a big deal as sometimes it's hard to notice, but just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and if there is anything that can be done about it.
Thanks!
It sounds like you have Auto Brightness turned on. In your setting, go to sound & display, click on Screen Brightness. Uncheck the "auto brightness" box.
I think that was it! The screen is also a little brighter too.
Sweet, thanx a lot!
I had the same problem, Thanks for the tip.

Now you can go back to that same area in settings and up the brightness manually if you'd like.
Screen fading in and out/Flickering
Hello fellow XDA'ers
I am experiencing a similar problem. My screen fades in and out and flickers.
I unchecked the Auto Brightness option. The screen did become a bit brighter. But this did not resolve the issue. The fading in and out and flickering continues.
If any of you fellow XDA'ers have experienced this and know of a solution, would you be so kind as to share your solution.
Thanks so much

Screen dimmed brightness too dark

Firstly I love this phone. After working through 4 Samsung Galaxy S's to finally ask to be switched away from it to this, I was very happy.
This phone is rock solid.
BUT. I have a problem. I like to use maps or nav in my car. I have the phone plugged in but after the timeout period the screen goes dim. I'm normally OK with that but the dim setting on this phone seems to be ridiculously dark!
To your knowledge, without rooting it to get the Cyanogen settings, is there a way to brighten the dimmed level of brightness?
I have tried disabling the auto-brightness and bumping it up but still after the timeout period it dims very dark.
How about a toggle or widget to keep the screen always on? There are quite a few available I reckon. I know its one extra step to carry out whereas you are looking for something more automated. Maybe there is an app that can let you make a list of apps that enable screen always on?... Not sure about that but worth a look eh?
i do use a switch with Extended Controls widget.
the problem isnt that it dimms, it's that when it does dim it is far too dark.
When the samsung went to the dim setting it was still viewable.
If i remember right when i had it plugged in it would not dim if i was viewing maps.
anyways, the phone as it is is useless when it dims. i can touch the screen to bring back the brightness. I can set the timeout period to 30 minutes, but all of this requires that i re-activate the screen to bring it back.
i guess i am seeing one more reason to root the device. i'm nervous about rooting and would prefer to not have to if i dont need to.

This is a characteristic of the software that you are using. The software needs to establish a WAKE LOCK in order to keep the screen bright. If it isn't working, then there is something wrong with the software you are using. I suggest using COPILOT for navigation. It works properly.

agreed, the software is probably working properly. google navigation does not time out. google maps does and they dont give you an option to have it not time out when plugged in. silly if you ask me.
i dont mind that as much as i mind how much it dims.
Does anyone else find that the desire z dims too dark?
anyways, i may be beating a dead horse here. trying to get blood from a stone and all that.
well if anyone has any other ideas that would be helpful. thanks for the suggestions thus far.

[Q] Hardware Buttons Backlight Extremely Bright - Anyone?

There is this weird bug I'm encountering every once in a while, like once in 20 days or something. And there is no way to reproduce it forcefully, as it happens randomly in different situations, with no defined pattern at all.
So here it is. From time to time, something is causing buttons backlight to be as double as bright compared to normal state. And I'm not exaggerating when I say doubled brightness, it really is. Like ultra intense light.
And the only way I discovered so far, to back it to normal state, is to restart my phone. Did anyone else encounter this bug? What is causing it?

Screen too dim, backlight(Maybe) not working.

Hi all. I have a rather weird issue. After droping(oops) my phone, I ordered a new lcd. I shelved the phone as it was unusable until the screen arrived. When the screen arrived, I saw that the battery was dead. I charged it and changed the lcd. That's for the backstory. Fast forward to now. When I open the phone, the screen lights up at full brightness as one would expect at the android one logo. It stays there at full brightness for about 8secs But as soon as it starts loading android the screen dims to absolute dark. In the beginning I thought the phone was closing, you can't see anything... Unless you close the lights.
But even in absolutely dark room, the screen is still very dim, barely discernible. The phone works absolutely fine otherwise, touch camera sound etc. I backtracked the process and put it's original screen on, but it does the same.
I tried disabling auto brightness it does nothing. In fact, changing brightness from the slider does absolutely nothing whatsoever.
Tried calibrating the sensors from the engineering menu(not sure it was called that, the one you enter when you put numbers on the call menu) they seem to be working, but the brightness doesn't change.
Tried removing the battery for a prolonged amount of time (around 6 hours iirc). Still same.
At this point i'm thinking:
1)Software problem. I will really need to hard reset the whole thing, which i'd rather not, and hope for the best.
2)Bad screen, which doesn't explain why the previous one has the same problem, or why the screen works during the logo.
I hope I was able to give enough info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi, I'm having almost the same issue (display very dim, but for me it is always very dim) and this manifested not after any dropping or screen replacement, I guess I just wrongly inputed a button sequence that configured the mobile in this weird status. It is really annoying as it is almost impossible to unlock sims, basically the phone is unusable, very frustrating....
Hey there, did anyone found a solution for this issue?
Has anyone solved this problem?
Have you found what was causing this?
I’ve the same issue, replaced the lcd on a xiaomi mi a1 and the backlight is present at the logo startup but completely black after that.[br]
On a dark room I can barely see the screen and all it’s working, but adaptive light button is missing, seems like the bootloader is able to use the backlight but not android itself
I have the exact same problem, i really hope someone knows a solution to this. I tried pretty much anything within my capabilities

AOD brightness way too dim...

Hey guys, like many of you I recieved my Note 10+, and I'm almost done with the full setup. I am having a slight issue though with my AOD screen being way too dim. It's so dim that I can hardly make out the notification symbols. I've gone through the Lock Screen settings, and removed the auto brightness, and set the brightness all the way up, but it's like it did nothing. It's still very difficult to make out the notification.
Just wondering if anyone else is having or had the same issue, and was able to fix it?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Sorry for the message above. I literally just figured it out by accident. Right after I posted I turned my phone off, and tapped the screen once to see the time, then for some reason i double tapped the clock, and i got a brightness slider. I turned it up all the way, and it's much better now.
Sorry for the post if it's already been mentioned. I'm back on Android for the first time after being on iPhone for the past few years. I feel like I need to learn everything again.
