I found that the notification light not working even I set the option "pulse notification light" on in the setting menu (In the condition of the screen is off and idle after received notification or missed call and etc., the light is still off).
Then I unlocked the BL and tried some stock version of google firmware website.
But it does not work as well.
Only the moment someone phone to me and the light will on with the white color.
I wonder whether it is the hardware problem for the light or only the setting.
Thanks so much for your help.
The notification light doesn't do much by default. I believe it lights up when you get a call and for stock SMS.
I use the app "Light Flow" to control the app a bit better, though, and set colors for different notifications.
I would go to a Sprint repair center and have them test the phone. This could be software or hardware related. If it is software a reset would fix it. Also you may want to download a different notification program to see if it would step in and make them work again. But the best idea is to let a store test it - they have a machine to diagnose problems like this.

Hi all, I've just missed called my gn phone to check how the led notifications are working, I see no led notification at all, no led lights anywhere on the phone to let me know I have a missed call? Is there something I need to set up, thanks

Check your notification settings
There is also an option "pulse notification light" in Display settings.
i have the same problem.
i have ticked the option "pulse notification light" in Display settings but th eLED doesnt flash after receiving a miscall. i waited a few mins and still nothing.
i know the LED works because it flashes while the caller is calling, but just switches off after the caller hangs up.
is there another notification setting for this other than the one in Display Settings?
The notification LED has been implemented pretty badly natively. In addition to not appearing very consistently it also only flashes white. Look for the app Light Flow on the market and use that instead.

Thanks Chrono.
I just saw the Light Flow app recommended on the other LED notifications thread and tried it, and it works well!
But yes i agree its seems a pretty sloppy implementation by default, i hope it gets fixed in a software update, although i probably wont be moving away from light flow with all the extra control you get with it
I haven't seen my LED light work once yet. I've had the phone since Thursday (VZW LTE) and don't even know what the LED looks like. I'm guessing its right next to the ear piece? As I said I'm still stock unrooted, but I do use Dialer One and Handcent. I'm guessing Handcent has a bug with ICS and/or the Galaxy Nexus? I go into notification settings, the LED option is checked, but when I select "Test Notification" Handcent FC/stops responding. Also when I get a new email (gmail), I don't get any kind of LED notification...Any suggestions?
It's at the bottom of the front of the phone. About 1/4" from the bottom of the phone. I've only seen it light up on new text messages though. I hear Light Flow works to customize the LED.
Go to settings > display. Is pulse notification light checked?
I also use light flow, and i was never a fan of notification lights before, but its got enough customization that i can make it act how i want it to....and things like that is why i switched to android from that other phone in the first place
When I first got mine, I thought it was broken too. I seems the default settings don't use the notification nearly as much as some other phones. I recommend getting light flow and setting up the notification light that way.
Yeah I think it was a combination of not realizing exactly where to look and it not being used as often as I would have thought. After installing Lightflow I see it now, thanks. It's actually really sick looking.
Light flow is awesome, I wish I had found this app a long time ago. I assume that you're supposed to disable notification inside the individual apps and just do it all through light flow?
Also, it doesn't seem to allow me to change colors? (I change the color setting but the light is always white-ish).
I was just wondering if anyone here has had luck with lightflow in getting notifications to work.
Currently I can either enable the notification light, and all it does is blink green (despite no notifications), or turn it off. Testing with lightflow resulted in, what seems like, no changes. I know there might not be a large range of colours, but it would be nice to control the notification LED.
It didn't work with any app available, I can't not understand why...maybe the led is not capable of showing more than two or three colors?
The number of colours isn't really an issue. For example, the Nexus S blinked the Home, Menu and back buttons. As long as it can be controlled it would be nice, but it doesn't seem to be able to do it.
I've been aware that I see the notification light even if there are no notifications
I had posted this question on the rom thread they I'm running - AquariOS - but thought I'd open this up for discussion here as I suspect it's a 'feature' rather a bug.
Is it still possible to have the notification light on when in modes do not disturb etc? I just want a mode that disables ringtones and vibrate but still allows for the LED notification light. In some situations for example at work, I'm happy for my phone to be out on the table, wishing for no sound/vibration to occur but be able to check the notification light for notifications.
I'm using Light Manager to handle my custom app light settings and when I activate do not disturb mode and attempt to test the LED settings (clicking 'test' and turning the screen off) it doesn't light up. So it's definitely the case that these modes disable the light.
I don't want to use ambient mode and I've tested the notification light in Alarms Only do not disturb, alarms only and priority and seemingly all of them block the light entirely - happy to be corrected if I've missed a setting!
Running latest AquariOS 8.1 rom.
Hopefully this is possible and without the need for a third party app...
Any suggestions?
Could the setting you're looking for be 'allow visual disturbances' or visual signals in notification settings?

Thanks for responding.
Well to answer this question, I don't have any of the "block..." when screen is off options under the Block Visual Disturbances section (see attached), which unfortunately doesn't appear to solve this....
Just want to be able to have the light on in a non-sound and non-vibrate mode, given the little LED light hardly 'disturbs' me!

Did you find a solution for your problem? I am having the same problem with OmniRom.

Nope, never did.
I *think* it's an Android 'feature', rather than a bug. Just wish it was optional and be able to have that little light disturb me instead of a complete unresponsive phone when a notification would come on in the do not disturb mode.... I wish for a 'no vibrate but light' mode...
It seems like ever since Oreo (currently running Pie) my notifications have been really screwed up and I'm at a loss as to how to fix it. I need help lol.
1) With screen off, a lot of times I won't get any notifications until I wave my hand over the proximity sensor.
2) Sometimes my LED doesn't turn on. Like, I'll grab my phone and there'll be a notification on the lock screen, but the LED doesn't alert me to it. Other apps don't flash the LED at all even though it's turned on in settings.
3) I never get voicemail notifications. At all. And I can see missed phone calls if I open the phone app, but there's otherwise no indication of missed calls. Wtf!
I've tinkered with all of the notification settings to no avail. I also noticed the number of options that can affect notifications seems a complicated mess. I'm a bit disappointed at what the Android notifications have become.
Can anyone offer any help with this?
