I have had zero problems with EL13.
Sent from my Epic 4G Touch using Tapatalk.
I've had one Los on EL13, with a stock kernel too. But it was such a fluke, and everything else is so good I wonder how we can improve with this(on gingerbread at least). Guess we will just have to see....
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
EL13 works great for me also, so unless significant improved changes, I don't get it. Why the hell is Samsung still screwing with GB? Maybe they noticed they forgot carrier IQ on el13 and added it.
I've been using it about 2hrs and the onlything I notice is a speed difference.maybe they did better optimization after the whole ciq debacle...

Couple of different icons (phone) and different incoming call screen... Porbably a lot more. Seems quick.

Not true.
They have been told by Sprint to get rid of CarrierIQ.
It stands to reason that the priority is that. I'm sure they're just tweaking before releasing that update.
ICS probably won't come until mid Q1 or Q2 anyway.
And it will be ugly as hell, thank you Samsung Twiz.

Current internal Sprint rumour i heard is Nexus s 4g is getting ICS sometime in january and february and the Epic 4g Touch is 1-2 months after that. I dont always put much stock into this, but I have recieved leaked software from this source so they are usually pretty accurate.

Yes seriously I know that alot of people have been having issues with the building and modem but this is the only problem I'm having. In fact for some reason this modem has helped me get better signal in my house, where I almost always was roaming. Now since I put it on my phone I only have roamed for maybe 20 minutes when I was literally in the middle of nowhere.

You can use the FB15 modem on any rom, you don't have to have the unreleased ICS to use it. (I'm using it just fine on a stock build)
All I'm saying is, is it worth the risk to your business to be using pre-release OS on a phone you need to work 100% for work? This is the primary reason I've not installed it yet. I have to have 100% working.
Same happen to me on rooted FB17. I let it do it's thing and reboot automatically. I didn't see any issues or data loss. I wasn't too worried. I am sure it isn't a good thing but I don't know if it is a bad thing either.

Go Back to EL29 and keep using the FB15 modem and your problem is solved. If you are THAT worried it is going to happen on something important then you should really NOT be messing with Alpha builds at all. That or also doing a bit more reading and understanding that we do have the choice of running Modems that are either older or Newer then the current build of Android we run is something you can do and still be safe. I get it's the one problem you are having but at the same time this is Alpha software you are using it does have problems. Swap back to a GB build keep your modem and be happy for awhile longer till things are better.

correct me if im wrong..but it doesn't matter if there is a leak or an official OTA release...once someone gets there hands on a tmo SG2 with official ICS they can post the files for all of us...then the devs can make customized the roms out of that
The specs seem exactly the same, so they just going to release it with the installed ics? Hour that's the case, even if so, the update will probably come when the new batch does?

ICS was already established with the thread title. I was mainly referring to when we would actually see the update.
What I don't understand is how come carriers like T-Mobile and ATT take so long to roll out updates when they have dedicated developers, and folks here in XDA can write custom kernels in weeks. They should just release their kernel source code to XDA developers and let them handle it.
FYI According to this blog:

AOSP Roms are doing just fine. I got an AOKP build built from source on sdx developers and android central. Its one build away from 100% stability. You need to remember it is a small team of Samsung that do the updates for our phone, not the ones who do the whole phone software itself. They probably did a quick version of ICS for our phone to get people to keep buying it since it's still a top of line phone and want to squeeze any amount they can. So it really shouldn't change your decision if you like the basic device or not.

Now they will work on our phones JB! I'd say December for OTA. But we shall see. The International SGS2 is suppose to get JB in November. I say December because Fj10 is super smooth even as a testing build!! Can't wait !

JB isn't as much work, its just updates on ttop of ics as the base, not an entirely new code structure like going from GB > ICS it only took a little over a month for the sgs3 to get JB ota

According to this article about the GS3's JB it says Samsung says JB will be available for the GS2 on November right after the GS3. We already have leaks and rdf's so let's hope!
