I am a complete noob, and probably shouldn't have even tried rooting, but I did...I followed the directions to the T, but when I try and run the Evo-recovery after the phone reboots, I get a missing adbwinapi.dll... I have tried to reintall Evorecovery but nothing. I'm on Windows 7 if that matters. I am not sure if my phone is rooted now, or just back to factory settings... Thanks in advance!
There is a decent guide to help you get the software you need installed to make adb happen

Hello all.
just trying to root my slide device and is not seeming to work. Followed three different tutorials on three different pcs and can't seem to get it working and no luck.
was following this one and seems to have made the most sense to try and get it working but no go.

When I go from bootloader to recover seems like the loop picks it up for a very briefe moment maybe 3-4 iterations of the loop then is disconnected again
all I see in device manager after it has finished connecting and disocnnnecting between stages is just the usb mass storage nothing that says adb or slide or anything like that. What may I e doing wrong. i don't think I missed a step. Have tried on a desktop with Win7x64 laptop win7x32 and desktop win Vistax32 any ideas on what I can try next. Thank you in adavance

Try here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748764 I had armyjon88 leave me a post and it worked like a charm after days of trying. Sometimes just looking at someone else's work will do the trick. Give this one a try and if you can't get it to work there are plenty and I mean plenty of scripts on xda. If you really become stuck to Google it.
weird let me look
Yeah that didn't seem to help at all. The problem that I have is that the phone while in hboot i start the loop and then go to recovery on the device while loop is running
now without me doing anything I see loop with nothing for about 10 seconds and the for a second loop is showing offline device and then goes away on its own and with unpluging and plugging back in or anything I do I can't get it to be detected right. so no matter what I do unlike the nexus I can't even get to try the second part of the root process.
The nexus was alot easier for me seems like lol

Hello everyone,
Ok so I bought a brand new g2 on craigslist. Everything was working perfectly fine...until I decided to root it. I downloaded the necessary files and it all worked perfectly fine. Now I know some of you may bash me for this but thats not the reason im asking for help. I know I messed up by not reading more into depth ahead of time. I opened up visionary did the temproot, then proceeded to do the permroot. Phone rebooted but stayed stuck in the HTC logo screen. I seriously need help guys and I would greatly appreciate it if I could just make it work again. I went into the bootloader restored back to factory settings but same thing happens. I managed to get a copy of the original 2.2 stock rom for the g2 put it in the sd card then it seems like it updates fine..restarts a couple of times but stays in the htc logo again after like the second restart. I have the S-on...(prolly screwed). Anyway, im asking here because I searched a lot and I know there are other posts about people who ask this but then there are no concrete answers. I am wondering if there really is a way to fix it. Whether it be installing a custom rom or any other thing. If its not fixable as much as it hurts, Im going to have to put it up for sale and get at least something out of it (for parts or whatever). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Guys
I will give gou 10 dollars! But hey do a search for visionary bootloop fix. There was a great guide on how to fix that. It will require you to learn about adb. Adb will be your friend for fixing things.

lol
lol about the 10$...hey I greatly appreciate your help though...
Man, I just noticed there are lots of people stuck in this HTC logo screen. Having a hard time installing the damn adb......ahhhh this crap really sucks and its all my fault....hopefully there is someone out there who had the exact same problem and got it working.
ADB is quite easy to install actually, all you need to do is download the Android SDK, get the usb drivers, modifiy the inf files in the usb_drivers folder, and you're good to go.
As for rooting, I would suggest using the more updated gfree method.

I dunno why you have to modify anything. I plugged my phone in and everything just worked.

Only $10!
Man i would've given you @ least $11.
If anyone is having trouble with adb (and I know that it can be a struggle), I'm writing a guide to try and help - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865685
It's not finished yet, but there's enough information in there already to perhaps help a few people out.
Hello,
I have just formatted my SD card correctly to use the D2EXT+ roms that are available.....
I flashed the D2EXT+ hboot from CrystalKingdom v0.3.1 and installed the rom yesterday and everything seemed to work fine apart from the weather where i was getting forced closed, i also tried Alex Vs rom and it installed but i had constand forced closures.
I tried today with CrystalKingdom latest rom and once installed i get display issues....the lockscreen is just a white square and the HTC cloch is just white with no details, also my apps have very big writing that is messing up the screen.
I obviously must have missed something.
Could someone help me out please?
Edit: I i aso have USB brick now....CAn someone point me to the latest easiest way to sort this now please and how do i find my cid?
I am S-Off
Thanks.
I flashed this rom again a third time and it has loaded up with no problems....don't know why?
But i have a USB brick.....i am trying to use Android flasher to fix it but i can't get the cid.....i followed a guide to get the cid using astro file manager but thats too big to use with android flasher.
Can some one give me a step by step guide, the old tutorials seem to be very mixed up now.
I have flashed back to CyanogenMod-7 now so maybe i can fix this with the terminal emulator?
Appreciate any help.

I am going to say that the first booting time of every Date2EXT rom should be a little long.
If you see something was force closed at the first booting time, just click "wait", "wait" and "wait"!
I used to have the same problem with you ,and Alex told me this way and everything solved!
Er...
I don't have any ideas about how to fix your USB brick, I am very sorry for that. Do you mean you can't link your phone to the computer at the bootloader? or at the android OS? Can you push your files to your phone through the USB line?
Thanks for the reply I will try that.
About the USB problem, I cannot connect my phone to USB though android OS, USB debugging or USB options do not show when enabled.
To fix usb brick:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639
Thank for the link
you are S-OFF, so to fix USB-Brick do:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot oem eraseconfig
of course ADB must be set up correctly @ PC
fixed
Thanks for the reply.
I have now fixed my USB brick.......Cheers
I have decided to go back to using A2SD+ roms as i was getting too many problems with D2EXT+, do i need to change the Hboot again for this and would appreciate it if someone could point me to it.
Thanks.

I would appreciate it if you press thanks button.
I could not get what's your current hboot. If it's stock, you do not need to flash another hboot.
Hi, thanks sent, i figured out the hboot problem.
Cheers.
Hi there
I've in the past, rooted some of my android phones. Just got the HTC one M8 and it updated to 5.0.
I would like to get root access (not planning on flashing a new rom). I'd like to get OTA still.
I followed step by step instructions on how to root, but when I go to SU, I get an error message:
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!
If you just upgraded to Android 5.0, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!"
Also, my touchscreen / keyboard seems messed up. It starts typing random stuff on it's own I think I might have damaged my phone by keep trying to do it.
I'm a noob and try to usually follow step by step instructions.
Please help - and in basic terms, please
Thanks!
Update
I reset my phone, and now it is rooted and works. Problem is that the screen is still messed up It doesn't type what I want and closes typing screen, opens other windows etc What should I do?
Does the glitchy behavior only happens when you're charging the phone?
My phone has now updated all its apps and the screen is working fine again, but I get the same message again as previously. SuperSU message: There is no SU binary installed, ......".
Seems it worked only until it updated.
Would love to get it rooted. Help would be appreciated please.

You're right. It was happening while charging. My phone was still linked to the laptop. So that could be it.
