Bought this on eBay. Just search for "Galaxy Nexus Qmadix"
I love it!
I've always been a fan of the Seidio Surface Case/Holster Combo. I've bought them for all the phones I've had, even the Nexus S. The Nexus S, just like the Galaxy Nexus has a curved glass, because of that, the Seidio Surface case is not a slide on case like other Surface cases, but a 2 piece sandwich style case that encloses the phone from the back and front. I did not like this style on my Nexus S. I can feel the seam on the sides of the phone and it was a bit creaky. So a search for a replacement case/holster combo I went.
I've compiled a list of Case+Holster cases here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399540
On to the review!
Case comes with a rubberized textured snap-on case and a matching felt lined face-in style belt clip holster, also rubberized and textured.
Since it's a snap-on case, it does not protect the top nor bottom of the phone if you drop it. The sides do protrude over the phone so you can lay your phone face down on a desk or flat surface and your screen will not touch the desk/surface.
I have the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus. This Qmadix case is suppose to fit on both the GSM and Verizon version. It's very snug in the snap-on case. I don't feel it moving around or squishy. You can tell there's a slight gap on top of the phone, but it doesn't alter/affect the phone/case on the GSM Nexus.
The phone can only go in face in which is great. It can go in top or bottom first, but it's made to go in bottom first.
It goes in with a satisfying "click" feel. Since the phone slides into the holster, you have to push it out to get it out. This may take some practice, but a good way to do it is use your pinky/ring finger and place it on the bottom right of the phone and push it forward and then grab the phone from the top sides and pull the rest of it out.
The belt clip is great. It rotates 180 degrees. I wear a 1.5 inch wide belt and it fits it perfectly. It even has a little notch on the clip to securely hold your belt.
There's something cool but odd with the belt clip holster.
It's a stand! But it's useless! It has the metal thing that goes down and has 4 settings you can set it to. You can't put the phone in screen out to use the stand! I can't figure out any other way to use it.
And here's a pic of the phone/holster on my hip:
All in all for ~$20, well worth it if you want a case/holster.

This is great and saves me from needing to do a write-up when mine shows up (hopefully) tomorrow.
BTW, is it possible to just lay/rest the phone against the "stand" and have it stay in place? I'd think so, at least in the horizontal position, since the case is rubberized.

Heres the real question, does it fit with the extended battery?

I guess you can kinda lay the phone on the desk leaning against the stand. It works but tap on the desk with your hand a few times and the phone moves/falls.

I really doubt it. It's pretty snug as it is.
I'm squeezing the back of the case to try and feel if it pushes in but I don't.

Anyone tried this with the VZW Nexus yet? How is the fit?

I'll be trying it with my VZW Nexus with extended battery a soon as my case shows up in the mail. I'm hoping it will be today.

I'm using it with the extended battery. It takes some effort, but you can make it work.

I know the extended battery "kinda work" with the similar barely there and feather cases, so it'd be interesting to see how it looks with this case.

Are you using the EB back or the stock back? On the case my wife is using I had to switch to the stock back when using the EB to get it to fit better in the case. It's not overly difficult and the shape of the back where it curves seems to be the biggest factor.

I use the extended back. I may use the stock back to see what you're talking about with a better fit.

My case finally arrived. I'm using an extended battery along with the stock back and it seems to fit fine once it's been worked into place.

Anyone had any issues yet using this case with the extended battery with standard back?
I wanna buy this case but don't wanna put too much strain on the phone by not using the correct back...

Remove the clip from the holster? Yeah if you break it off.

I notice inserting camera side first exposes all available ports. But here and also on the cover, it is shown to insert the other way which exposes only the volume keys(that too partially). Is the right way or can it go both ways? Also if you have to buy a screen protector, does it have to be a case fit or a regular one would be just fine.

The case/holster is made to put screen in and camera facing out (protecting the screen).
Any screen protector is fine, the case holds the sides of the phone so doesn't affect the screen protector (squishing it/etc)

Thanks for your response. I did not mean face out(screen) which I understand it always goes face-in(screen) to protect the screen. What I meant was top/bottom in(assuming camera side is top) first. In this case it allows both sides to go in but the picture says bottom side in. With this it doesn't expose all buttons/ports. But with top(camera) side in, all ports/buttons are completely accessible.

[MOD] Infuse Ballistic HC Case for E4GT

With the lack of serious rugged cases for the E4GT, I decided to make my own solution. Picked up a red Ballistic HC Case for the Samsung Infuse from Amazon and modified it to work on my E4GT. This actually ended up being much easier than I thought it would be.
Here's how I did it:
First, the volume rocker is in a slightly different place on the E4GT than the Infuse,so it wouldn't work right. I used a Dremel to grind away some of the plastic around the bottom and front side of the volume rocker on the case. The volume rocker works great now.

I also did the same thing to the power button. It was a bit hard to push, but it works much better after doing this.
The camera and flash holes were a bit off, so I cut out the piece between the two with a utility knife so it's one larger hole now. I also used the Dremel to grind away a little of the plastic at the bottom of the hole so it won't interfere with the flash, and also smoothed out where I had cut with the utility knife.
The microphone hole was also off. To solve this, I just drilled a new hole to the left of the existing one so it lined up with the E4GT's mic. Then I moved the little mesh cover over to the new hole. I filled the old hole with some clear epoxy.
The headphone jack was also a little off, so I used the Dremel to make it a tiny bit bigger. Didn't take a pic of that because you can't really see the difference.
It's not necessary, but I also removed the built in screen protector just because I don't like them. I will probably get a regular screen protector for it. I did this on my Evo too.
After these mods, this case is working great on my E4GT. I don't have any pics of the phone actually in the case yet because the I don't have another camera handy to take pics of it right now. I will get some though. Just thought I would share this in case anyone else is interested in having a Ballistic HC Case for their E4GT.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Didn't realize it until I plugged it in to charge, but the front of the case covers up the notification light. That was an easy fix though. I just drilled a hole for it. I drilled the hole a little too far to the left so I took the Dremel and made the hole oblong.
Here are a couple pics of the case installed on the phone:
(Took these with a Transform so quality isn't so good)

Yes, the HC comes with a holster. That's part of the reason I wanted it. That and the HC provides far more protection than any other case out there.

have odd request
sent you a PM about it...
does the phone itself physically fit into the case perfectly just like the intended phone would? if so I wonder why they wont make a HC for the epic touch since it seems like it would take MUCH less r&d/tooling to make the case for this phone than to make one from scratch for a completely different phone.

It fits ALMOST perfectly. It does fit, but you have to kind of push it down a little. I actually did a little more fine tuning by grinding just a little bit of the "ribs" along the sides of the case, and after I did that it does fit perfectly.

Sprint has the Ballistic SG case. Ballistic doesn't make the HC case for the E4GT. The HC provides far more protection than the SG, and it comes with a holster.

Does the HC case have the "oil slick" problem like it did with the original EVO? It was a great case otherwise.

I didn't notice that it had the oil slick effect in the short time I had it on there, but I removed the screen protector because I can't stand the built in ones. I think they made the inside of it with a surface like the anti glare screen protectors to get rid of the oil slick effect, but it also reduces the clarity of the screen.
Right now I'm using it with no screen protector, but I plan on getting a regular screen protector for it. Did the same thing with my EVO.

Kickstand cases

Greetings all -
I have the VZW extended battery SGN and I'm looking for a case that provides a little bit of shock protection, fits on the extended battery and has a kickstand. Coming from the Thunderbolt this phone is a breath of fresh air in regards to weight and size, so I want to keep that part intact. The Verizon kickstand holster from what I hear doesn't really provide very much in terms of protection and doesn't fit well on the extended battery.
I've searched threads and most cases seem too bulky or no kickstand..can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm with you, coming from the tbolt I really need a kickstand. I bought the VZW one and still using the OEM battery. Nice thing about the case I think it's the only one to allow portrait and landscape.

Thanks for the feedback, anyone else?

I bought the otter box case from verizon on sat and will be returning it tomorrow. It is a nice case, protects the phone and allows portrait and landscape.
My only problems are lint(its a magnet for pocket lint), form factor(its tank like) and the built in screen protector(gives the screen a grainy look).

how about this: search in ebay for: White Crystal TPU Hard Back Case
The Seidio Active has a built in kickstand. I've used the Active's in the past and I like them pretty well.

Just got the ebay kick stand white tpu case. Its pretty flimsy but with care it might last a month or two. Its pretty hideous to look at and my wife made fun of me for having it lol. Beats having nothing I suppose.

These little tabs to hold the kick stand in will probably break first.

Still nothing available? Man the kickstand is incredibly useful when I am out eating lunch.
yeah I use it when eating lunch at work too =o. Just using verizon holster without extended until something better comes around...what a wasted extended batt!
So does the seidio active with kick stand not work with the battery? Id love to order it but its a bit pricey if it doesn't work.

I too was looking for a nice case with kickstand but Verizon only offers one and it looks sh!tty. I bought myself a couple of these small phone stands: one for work desk and another in my car in case I wanna watch something in the restaurant during lunch. They're pretty small and compact when clipped in.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400266244836
I second the Seidio Active. It apparently has a cutout in the silicon layer beneath the kickstand that allows it to accommodate the extended battery. Look for Asianrage's posts in the case sticky for pictures of the Seidio Active with the extended battery.

Its extremely portable and works well.
- GSM Galaxy Nexus
So, i broke down and ordered the seidio and it doesn't fit real well with the verizon extended battery, but if you take the plastic cover off of the back off the phone it fits perfectly and you can't tell the back is off. Its no thunderbolt kick stand though that's for sure. The angle is steeper and of course its wont do portrait mode.
Overall I like it. Its built well but the power button is a bit hard and if you have a dock that uses the 3 pin connectors they are covered up.

Did you try to massage the silicone with the back applied? Work the corners and readjust the sides. That's the only thing you have to do. The initial fitting was disappointing for me, so I used the system without the battery cover, but decided to give it a second chance after a few days. Have you seen the pictures that I posted in the link above? That's my phone with the extended battery and cover encased in the Active.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405890&page=9
The kickstand reclines too far back compared to the Bolt, given how short the leg is.
And I doubt that there will be any 3-pin dock that would support any cased SGN.
Oh sweet I hadn't seen that post, I'll try wrestling with it again.

Well after trying again with the back plate on the phone I'm going to stick with my original recommendation. For me, the the fit is much better with the battery cover plate off.

Otterbox, The modification way.

Alright, So apparently my Otterbox is really dirty when you zoom in this much, but this is a Samsung Infuse 4G Otterbox placed on a T-Mobile Galaxy S2 SGH-T989.
As you will see, the open area where the volume rocker slot is needs to be extended downward otherwise the case will hold the volume rocker in the down position. I could have been a lot cleaner cutting it out, but I was in a rush. It only requires about an 1/8 inch cut out, If you line them up you will easily see the problem.
The case doesn't full snap to the right of the charger port, it comes very close but has caused no problems and once the outside rubber/silicone skin is on, makes zero functional or aesthetic difference.
The back speaker hole is corrected but just slightly offset, I didn't notice any difference at all, as it is so minimal.
If you'd like any additional pictures or have any questions please let me know.
I don't know if I would go back to OtterBox as protection was not the best for me, but with your modification, how does it sound when you are talking to someone? Are the MIC holes clear and free specifically?
I have not noticed any troubles with communicating with the other end of the phone line. The incoming and outgoing sounds just like without the case.
The bottom mic hole is slightly offset from center but is still 100% unobstructed.

I've been using the Infuse's Otterbox Defender case almost since I got my SGS2. I'd only be happier if Otterbox made one specifically for the T-989.
OP, you can make the case snap shut completely if you lightly sand down the inside bottom of the case on the left and right sides. This allows the bottom of the battery cover just enough room so the case snaps shut all the way around. This isn't necessary, just thought I'd share what I did to obtain a slightly better fit.

Cases
I bought the D30 Flex case which is pretty snug, the only drawback of this case is that the buttons are hard to press(effort is needed). Which case offers the most protection and maneuverability?
Sorry to take so long getting pics, anyways, here's a some crappy pics of what I did to fit my T-989 into the Infuse Otterbox Defender case.
What isn't shown is the belt clip that I drilled a hole in so I could listen to music, etc and still have access to the screen of the SGS2.

The only problem I've had is turning the volume down - sometimes it takes several presses of the button instead of one simple long press.
I'll also note that because the USB and RCA jack are not 100% lined up, there will be slightly tension put on the cords from the outer rubber case. So far,my T-989 has suffered no ill effects from this.
For the protection this case provides and how big of a klutz and how rough I am, the minor inconvenience of it is well worth it IMO.

Has anyone tried the new Seidio Cases made to fit 2100 Extended Battery yet?

Someone earlier posted a seidio code for 15% off and while I was just browsing I noticed Seidio FINALLY released some cases made to fit with the Verizon 2100mah extended battery WITH the backing on. None of this ghetto battery cover off business!
I searched but haven't found any info. Has anyone gone ahead yet and bought one (Surface, Convert) yet? Is the fitment just as great as the standard one? I have a Verizon TPU case that fits the extended battery just great, but I've been waiting for a hard case that will fit for a while now.

I have not tried the new seidio case. However, I am currently using the Seidio Surface and I've managed to squeeze the original VZW ext. battery into it.
You can fit it in there by:
1. Put the ext. battery in the back
2. Put the ORIGINAL BACK on the Nexus (I know it won't completely close)
3. Snap the case on
Ta Da! It works!
BTW this is my first post.
I just got my Convert Value pack for the LTE 2100 mah battery today.
So far I like it a lot. The Surface case fits perfectly and adds little to the size.
The Convert case is a silicon skin with an exoskeleton that fits over the Surface case. I was interested in this for those times when you need extra protection for outdoor activities. This thing is very durable and I can't imagine how the phone wouldn't survive some serious punishment! It even had a silicon shield for the camera lens that folds down for taking pictures.
The value pack also comes with a screen protector, but I haven't decided if I'll use it yet.
I would recommend the Seiko cases.
Btw, I posted the JAN2012 15% off code.

Hey thanks for the review. Let us know after a week or two if the surface case on the inside scratches your phone. I want one but the one I had for my nexus s scratched my phone up badly. The design has rough edges inside where the two parts snap on the seam. Also this case for other models in the past has been a little too small causing the corners to rub and scuff up the phone as well.

I really don't see how that could happen with this case. It fits tight and I don't feel any edges along the internal seam that could scratch anything. There is also a velour covering all along the inside of the back piece.
It's rather hard to get apart once you snap it on the phone - which is a good thing!

I had this same problem with a Seidio case on my DX. The hinge was sharp and started to cut into.the phone. I took some ex-fine sand paper and smoothed the inside down, but the damage was done.

Good to hear about the improved build quality. Also worried as the extra bulk of the extended battery (gsm) might put stress on the corners and induce those scuffs. Thinking of getting one of these. I will definitely be inspecting the inside of these prior to install.
Czechm8, would you mind reporting back anyway about interior damage if you find anything? Most interested in the corners and the areas near where the volume and power button cutouts are. Those are where my nexus s got scratched.

Is the GSM extended battery bigger than the LTE 2100 mah battery?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
No it isnt. Its supposedly similar in thickness to the standard lte version, but a smidgen thicker.

I've had the case on now for a week and a half. Took it off to inspect and I can't find any signs whatsoever that indicate the case is causing any issues. Not a scratch or mark. Nothing.

I use the sedio active with the kickstand and its pretty great, though it can pick up a fair amount of lint as with any partial silicone case
Nice to know! Can't remember if you have GSM or lte version phone.

will nfc function still work or does the case prevent it?
Case won't affect NFC.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
The case has a soft silicon layer...does this attract dust like the otterbox does? That could be a killer for me.

I use the Seidio Active w/Kickstand (original release) with my VZW version with the extended back and I haven't had a problem.
I do know that the regular Surface case won't work with the extended battery cover.

RingkeSlim case-Original & LTE Comparison photos

Got my revised Ringke Slim case today.
Here are comparison pics of the original Ringke Slim vs the revised Ringke Slim
This is on my LTE gNex, extended battery with the battery door removed.
Note how the top end of the phone does not go all the way into the case as it's meant to.

Here is the New version meant for LTE with extended battery+battery door ON
The GSM version on my LTE phone was really nice... although it did just start developing cracks(known issue) because of the stress from the impropper fit
This new version fits perfect. It adds a hair of thickness since the hump that contours to the stock battery door hump is now filled in.
It can be seen here
Hope this helps some of you out
Is there a reason you're not using the battery door in the new case?
Thanks for the pics!
No prob.

Nice photos. Still wish the case at least offers some form of protection for placing the phone face down.
Guess I will stick to my Ultra Hybrid.
great pictures for comparison. can you tell me how it looks and fits with the standard battery on? if it's not too much trouble, maybe just one picture. if not, it's ok; words are fine. thank you very much.

It sorta does. Look at the last pic. On the left with the phone in the case, because of the subtle arc our screens have there's a small gap.

Gotta run out right now. When I get home later I'll swap out batteries and let you know
incredible photos. what kind of camera do you use? that is astounding.
Does anyone have some pics of the White or Metallic for the LTE that they could share?
good pictures and good product but this will not provide any real support if the phone falls on a hard surface and case will go fly to the other side of the room

It wont go flying, it fits VERY tightly, almost impossible to take it off actuallt. I'm more wprried aboit being able to take it off to put in a new battery then it flying off when dropped.

Thanks for pointing it out coz I was comparing it with the photos of the old case. The new one does go up all the way to the edge of the screen.
I'm probably gonna order one soon after figuring this out
Now if this somehow would fit a holster....I'd be set.

Recieved mine today to, fits so nice. 1st case that is going to make me ditch my Diztronic 3rd gen for.
Got mine today, LOVE it.
The new case will protect the front. The top and bottom portions of the case create a small lip so while face down, everything would be resting on those lips and the phone would be protected. Just the sides are open.
Perfect fit. My new case. The trusty diztronic v3 is now officially off duty.
The only downside is my pogo pings are halfway covered. I'm fine with them covered but they shoulda either left them exposed or fully concealed. The case literally covers half of each pin.

I tried the OEM smaller battery with the cover and there's really no difference. You might be able to push the back of the case in a little but the fit is still good.
Here's more photos of the new case from the back

It's an old Nikon D50. The camera really isn't so great, but as long as you have a good lens and use lighting right you get good shots

What he said. It's hard to pull this case off. I really doubt it'll come off if you drop it.

This bothers me too. My concern is when (if ) we ever get a legit car dock, how that'll effect the connection. If there's an issue I won't let it be a deal breaker. I'll hit it with a dremel to make it work
I bought the white, but after seeing these photos, I may have to go and pick up a black case too.

Any chance of some pictures of the case as it fits in the holster?
When you say "pretty good" -- is it wobbly, snug, other?
Also: how does the Ringke case do with the Seidio clip at the top of the holster? Can you pop the phone in/out of the holster with one hand, without the clip damaging the Ringke case? Also wondering if the clip will wind up scratching the case... any thoughts?
Jon
I got the metallic one as people said it most closely matched the actual phone. It's pretty close. Just a little bit darker. I wish it wasn't so glossy though - seems like it will scratch up. I might have to go with the matte black instead. Still looks pretty good I think.
Sorry for the quality of the shots, I'm no photographer.
