Just rooted my moms evo and tried to boot into recovery holding vol down and then the power button. Was able to boot into it using quick boot so i downloaded a rom, it got stuck on the HTC screen and now we cant get into the recovery. Has the method changed?
Okay, i decided to try something on my wife's evo. I disabled fastboot in the settings and tried to boot into recovery. I went straight to it. Is there something about fastboot that wont allow you to boot into recovery? My moms on the road and I'm trying to get her to recovery to do a restore.
Yes, if you have fastboot enabled, it will NOT boot into recovery; you need to disabled fastboot first.
The thing is, her phone is stuck on the white HTC screen and wont boot up at all. Is there anyway to get into the phone to disable fastboot? Any help would be appreciated.

Ok
So all if a sudden vol down plus power will not boot to bootloader when powered off.
Volume buttons are working fine when phone is on and I can get I.to the bootloader when I use 4 in 1 restart from power button.
Running Stock plus 3.01, tiny kernel 12/01/11 and have the extra 4 mod with dalvik mod....
Any ideas?

Are you able to recreate the problem?

I'm not on that rom but is fastboot enabled by chance either in Settings/Power or Settings/Applications?
Yes... Happens every time I try
And fastboot is on

Turning off fastboot allowed me to boot into bootloader with buttons.
But I noticed there is no option to boot into Rom from there...just recovery, reboot bootloader or.power down... Is that normal? I haven't played around with the.bootloader since I rooted

Yes, that's how the bootloader is. In order to boot into the rom from the bootloader, you must go through recovery.
What are you attempting to do?
I flashed a Rom and first couple boots it bootlooped, and I could not get into bootloader using buttons. Eventually it booted and I was able to boot into recovery, flash a nandroid backup and got back to normal.

I have found out that pulling the battery does the trick also. It seems if you power off with fast boot enabled, keeps the phone in a special mode to boot up really fast which does not go through hold start. I think its kinda like sleep mode on a computer.
I have a stupid question...
How do I exit HBOOT ?
Im trying to root..
Hi
I think my case is lost and is going to be "go guarantee" but I prefer to ask in case I miss something.
I've got a DHD with volume buttons (down+up) not working, and I flashed a rom this morning and now I'm stuck on boot.
Sometimes it happens and a reboot with pulling out/in battery works nice but here, it doesn't.
So here, is there a way to boot in recovery/fastboot mode when the phone is turned off or booting ?
Try to see if you can find it with adb while booting.

I can see it with adb!
Yeah, I suppose I can reboot it in recovery mode via adb reboot recovery.
(it worked!)
Well, I'm gonna put something on my sd to flash again.
Thx
Glad you got it working

Just got my s2 a couple days ago. went ahead and rooted it, threw on a Jedi Knight. I wound up switching recoveries to twrp as well. i like to flash roms alot till i find what i like best (dont we all). I wanted to try pa 2.52 but was unable to get it to bootup so I restored Jedi Knight.. I hit up the pa thread and people mentioned formatting internal storage. So I did that, and managed to get pa 2.52 on without any problems.. In the reboot options bootloader is not there.. So I started with my battery pull options to get there and nothing seems to be working..
some battery pull scenarios:
volume + & power = 1 vibe, samsung logo, let go >> boot back to rom. If I hold past 1 vibe, more continous vibes and no boot up at all
volume - & power = same as above
volume +- & power = 1vibe, samsung logo, let go >> recovery. If i continue to hold past the logo and then let go >> boot back to rom.
I'm trying to get to hboot just so I can see my s-off status & radio versions.. Much thanks..
Boot loader and s-off are for HTC phones not Samsung phones

I can see someone is coming from an HTC phone haha... If you are on the the T989 booting in download is volume down+volume up + power, or recovery mode its volume down + power.
That would be why I am familiar with them.. I left my incredible and got the s2. Is their anything similar to that for us or no? Not that it makes a difference..

Wait...so there is not bootloader
Hello I was attempting to get into my bootloader and I can't. If I am in the phone and press the power button I get the option to reboot if I click that I have the option to reboot into recovery, reboot into bootloader, or just reboot. Why have the option to reboot into bootloader if there isn't one?
I thought I booted into the bootloader to factory rest my SGH-T989 when I purchased it from someone was that not the case? was I booting into some sort of recovery?

Yes, you booted into Download mode which is the mode needed to flash your phone over usb with a tool called odin. In most cases it doesn't wipe the /data or /emmc partitions though so the best thing to do is to use the factory restore in android or your installed recovery.

Does it only boot into Recovery or does it flash it too?

No but it easily gets you into fastboot. Use the bootloader selection. Use adb to flash.

There is a Flashify thread in Android Development and Hacking. Maybe the developer can help you get the app working.

what do you mean by "stock recovery" did you use it to flash HTC recovery back onto the phone?
to get to hboot you can do it a couple of ways. the main way is to power down the device and hold vol - and power and keep holding it till you get into Hboot. it will act like a normal boot but once it gets to the splash screen it will soft boot then show hboot.
if you have adb set up you can just open a command prompt and type:
adb reboot-bootloader

Hi!
A few days ago I flashed Gohma rom and smart me, pressed reset device at the settings. after that there was bootloop. I tried to flash stock image through fastboot, it flashed succesfully but now I cannot get out of that bootloader screen. I have tried every stock images but no luck... Whenever I power on the device it vibrates three times immediately and boots to bootloader.
So, do you have any advice here?
In the gohma ROM zip, there's a return to stock script. Try to remove the two adb commands from that script and run it to flash your watch.
It's helped some other people.
