Okay I am running CM7 on my HTC Wildfire (Buzz),
The problem that I have is every time I log into Facebook on the official Facebook app that I downloaded from android market it always asks me to sync my contacts even after telling it that I don't want to.
with your answer please consider that I have also tried actually syncing as the app requests but I still receive the question every time I log in even if I did sync so how do I stop it from asking? anyone else experienced this? it never happened on HTC stock Roms...

Hi, I'm running a similar set up to and not received any issues. It did ask me to sync the 1st time but i've not seen it come up again.
If you go to settings and then accounts & sync, see if your FB account is in there and turn sync to OFF.
You do this by clicking the account and then unchecking 'sync contacts'
See if that helps

I had to do a wipe of the phone ealier, and i've set up my facebook account as usual, But for the life of me when I click contacts and then where I should be able to link them, I press facebook and it asks me to search, it sees nothing, I have logged out and back in, Tried manually syncing the facebook account and nothing

I updated my rom and now cant sync my Facebook contacts. I can use the stand alone facebook app without any problems, but it will not let me add the facebook account to my phone, everytime i try it says "The service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again?"
So I cant use any of the build in facebook stuff like friendstream or contact sync updates.
This sucks, bigtime, hope froyo upto will fix this.
I never had any problems with it ever untill today when I had tk wipe do to free space errors

I am starting to think its more of a fb issue rather than the device...

I have EXACTLY the same issue - I flashed a new ROM yesterday (unbranded stock) and facebook doesn't show a single contact... Any ideas?
I was talkink with the german HTC Support.
They told me to hardreset my desire (again) and try to just setup WiFi and "Facebook for HTC Sensse"
After the sync i did not have any Facebookcontact in "Contacts" (need to make them visible: contacts --> Menu -> Show --> Facebook (0))
That (0) indicates that the contacts are not synced.
In addition when I manually sync "Facebook for HTC Sense", the live-feed takes a couple of seconds, Contacts takes less than 1 second.
i use the official, nonrooted htc "2.1-update1" rom (1.21.405 CL174215 release-keys)
Any better Idea?
One observation:
When I go
People -> Online directories -> Facebook -> Menu -> Refresh
I get a "connection error" instead of a successful sync - now if I would only know why!
I just tried that and i got xonnectiln error, intrestingly when i updated my profile it worked... but still not friends

If I then go to Menu --> Own profile I do see my profile
If I to there to "Refresh" it comes (translated from German) "We are Sorry. the Application Faebook for HTC Sense (Prozess com.htc.socialnetwork.facebook) was closed unexpected. Retry again.
HTC was answering. They sent me a manual how to reinstall HTC Sync...

I can confirm that - profile and wall works - sync contacts doesn't.
I have the same problem since yesterday.
So it's because of Facebook?

I'm having the same problem.
I had to unroot my Desire as it would not let me upgrade to official 1.21 (Danish rom) and after unrooting and updating, facebook friends cannot be read or sync'ed.
Friendsstream and everything else is working perfectly, just not linking and facebook contacts.
I too get the Connection Error upon trying...
I think it is a FB issue - darned!
I was again talking to HTC Support and giving all Hints.
We also tried via Settings, Apps, Manage Apps, FB for HTC Sense --> Delete temp files
It went now to 3.levelsupport.

I don't see how it would work, HTC Sync has nothing to do with Facebook contacts...
No, of course it did not work. HTC Sync is to sync from Outlook to Desire (or whatever)

Its not the same problem - Friendsstream, HTC Sync and everything BUT Facebook Friends syncronization seems fine...
This is still going on? I havent been able to sync my FB contacts for a few days.. it says " Service is unavailable would you like to try again?"

I've installed the r6 Sense Modaco ROM and my 2d and 3d GMail accounts don't automatically sync...
Is it an issue due to the original ROM leaked from HTC or not ?
Is there a way to get back the auto-sync ??

its a bug, it works for some, not for others. I've had it working and not working on different roms, so its not device specific. Quick solution is to get k9 mail off the market and use that for your push accounts.

I have this problem too, but it seem work just fine 2 or 3 days after flashing.
I found this problem in every sense ROM installed, I was wondering it caused the new version of gmail.. IMHO..
The second gmail account is given the choice to push emails after a few hours, just keep checking back under accounts & sync.

OK. I've installed k9mail for now as I don't like the HTC Mail App.
But I didn't understand, is the system goin to ask me if I wanna activate push on my Gmail accounts ? Is that simple ? Just wait ?
I don't really understand what causes that bug if it's going to reactivate itself...

Mine also startd working 3 days after i flashed the rom
You can force this by opening GMail-app, selecting your account, pressing menu and choosing the sync-button. After a few seconds your inbox will show up.
If you THEN go to the main menu under accounts & sync you can check mail-sync immediately.
But this does not solve the problem that your additional GMail account(s) won't get synced. It works for some time after a fresh install, but then suddenly it will stop working. Don't know why... This only seems to happen on Sense Froyo-ROMs.
EDIT: I just realized: If you go under accounts & sync in the main menu and select "sync all" button, then you start to receive notifications for your additional accounts again. At least it worked for me, let's see for how long
I have the same problem after installing the OFFICIAL FroYo update on the HTC Desire. The sync sync settings are there, but it just ignores the setting for all but the first account.
Same here, issue with official FroYo release. Second account won't push. It did at first but now nothing is coming in unless i sync manually.
The account that doesnt pusg is corporate gmail not sure if that's related though.
Really hoping somebody knows a fix because i prefer to roll back to 2.1 rather than not having push mail available
Oddly my other Gmail accounts are now syncing normally. Push mail is active too.
I didn't do anything for that... Strange !
I have the same problem, i install it yesterday, i havec 4 account, and just one push...
Thought that worked, and it did for a single message, but doesn't stick.
I'm also having the same problem since my Desire updated to Froyo last Sunday.
Out of 5 accounts only the first one does push email now. Doesn't seem to be related to the type of account since the 4 that don't push are a mix of normal gmail and corporate Google app accounts.
Would it help to compare our version numbers? My build says 2.09.405.8

Thanks for your reports. We're right now looking into a general issue affecting the ability of additional accounts to auto-sync on some HTC devices with the latest version of the Android firmware.
To summarize what you've been reporting, this means if you have a device such as the HTC EVO 4G or HTC Desire, and you've recently updated your firmware to version 2.2, then auto-sync may only work for one account on your device -- the 'primary' account -- and not for any subsequent accounts you may have added to your phone.
In the meantime, you can still use Gmail on these devices with your additional account(s), but you'll have to manually check for new mail (Press <Menu>, then select Refresh).
We're in touch with HTC on this issue, and I'll be sure to update this post when I have news to share.

I have a temporary workaround for those who might be experiencing this issue on the devices I mentioned in my earlier post.
To get sync working again for the additional account(s), try following these steps:
1. Press < Menu > on your device.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Accounts & sync.
4. Select the affected account.
5. Tap the 'Sync Now' button at the bottom of the screen.
Repeat these steps for other affected accounts.
We continue to look into this issue and I'll be posting here with any updates.

So I guess that we now sit and wait however my 2nd Gmail account does sync on it's own every now and then so I have to question if the problem may be at least partly on the Gmail platform.

In the custom roms, some of them writes they have a new version Gmail 2.2.1 i think... Will this custom rom have fixed the push problem for the second and third gmail account?
Nope. I have Fresh rom on my EVO, it has the newest gmail. no change.

hi,is anyone have issues with google syncing accounts such as contacts,weather etc on their desire?I've been trying to update them all morning but kept getting the following message "sync is currently experiencing problems.It will be back shortly".I'm in the Uk, using an unbranded and unrooted phone running an official android 2.2 froyo.
I have the same problem with contacts not doing the sync. I changed an e-mail address in a contact on my desktop browser yesterday, and when I wanted to e-mail that contact from the phone I still had the old address. I tried to sync, but no changes.
Anyone else? I think this is a long time issue for me, had problems with calendar sync too, wondering if there is anything to be done (except wait for gingerbread and hope that fixes it).

I have this question, in ICS when i install the facebook app, its ask me to sync my contacts in with facebook (the existing, i mean the contacts in my phone to update with fb photo, info, etc) but in jellybean i cant, i see the account there, i turned on the sync option, but it doesnt do anything.

The functionality has been deliberately disabled by Facebook. There was something of a controversy about it back when it happened. So, yeah. Not happening anymore.

I use Friendcaster and it syncs the contacts pretty well. I started using it when Facebook upgraded to 2.0 and kept having network errors. The contact sync was just a plus.

Have you flashed correct gapps?
I'd try removing my google account and re-inserting it...

Try Contacts Sync fix app from play store.
Name i might be forgetting but its definately contacs sync sumthing..
