Battery Status Screen While Phone is Off and Charging? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I have looked and searched and can't find anything so I figured I would ask, is there anyway to get a battery charging screen like what is on the droid and droid two while the phone is off and charging?

My wife has a Droid and I have never seen anything on the screen when it is off. Charging or not, it is off.
You have a pic/link of what you're talking about?

I am almost sure my wifes Droid did it and I know for a fact her Droid 2 does it I see it every night, as far as trying to find a picture or video no dice until i can get home and take a picture or video of hers.

I had an Incredible until two weeks ago, now I have an Incredible 2, and I can tell you that on either one, off means off, The screen cannot show you anything because the Operating System isn't up and running and sending it pixels. The charger light doesn;t depend on the OS, so it can shine orrage or green if the phone is connected to a charging source. I'm sure this applies to any other make&model of cell phone.

I guess I don't know what you're asking then. The HTC phones when off, don't turn the screen on while charging. That's it. No ifs and or buts. I hate to sound like a ****, but if that's not good enough, get another phone. I mean, you come asking and got an answer, but then you crap on it because you "know" how it works, and that's not the case. Lol so come on, don't cop an attitude with the very people you asked help from.

I have had HTC all my smart phone life from the horrible winmo days to now its just a feature I want to add if a dumb phone can do it a smart phone should be able to

Wirelessly power on your phone?

Is there a way to send a signal to your phone to power it on? I know that the company Asurion can do this. It is a new feature now. I have heard about this here and there but never have looked into it.
Wrong section should be in q&a
from my phone duh
Maybe remote in ssh style or wireless adb and give the command shutdown.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Not possible unless the phone isn't really off. If just the screen is off, sure, it's very easy. Check out WebKey for full remote control of your phone.
Take a step back and look at what you're asking:
You want to turn on the phone, using the cell radio, while the phone and said radio is off. Quite simply, this is impossible unless you have the phone turn itself on to check-in for a "turn on all the way" message. What Asurion does is tag the phone and send it commands, but they can't do that if the actual phone is off and/or the battery pulled out.
You're cellphone is never truly "off" unless the battery is removed from the device.
There is likely a way to do it, but this guy **points thumbs at self** does not know how.
http://news.cnet.com/2100-1029_3-6140191.html
Granted its an old article, but still gives light to what is possible.
And to the OP, I know what you are in reference too... I remember reading a while back that if a powerful enough signal is provided to a device the article was about wirelessly charging batteries from a far distance using towers rather than things like the touchstone and powermat type devices, and the device is able to interpret the signal and activate certain processes, it was in fact possible to charge wirelessly from a-far.
Same concept would be applied, but it would require a downloaded application to run 24/7 on your phone (on or off), unless you powered down by use of battery removal.
Why's everyone so quick to say that this is impossible? If it's impossible, how come with some phones, when the phone is off and an alarm is set, the phone will power on for the alarm to go off. I've seen it done. I'm sure a similar method could be used.
There is no doubt in my mind that this is imposable. I have read a few articles back in the day and even talked to a guy that worked in government security one day (I was selling him a phone) He was a manager over a department where all they do is watch for hackers all day long over networks for all sorts of corporations likes banks and what not. (there is a whole lot more to it than just that) Anywho, When I found out what line of work he was in, I could not help but ask him all sorts of questions. It took him a while to answer even start to answer them. We became buddy buddy I suppose enough for him to shed a little light on a few of mine. When I started asking him a couple of questions about some things I have read bout cell phones he was very very vague to the point where it looked like he was trying to tell me things without actually telling me. I was only able to get him to clearly answer one thing. I was asking him about GPS's in phones. He basically told me that most manufactures put many different alternate ways to access things on a cell phone. (did not specify what) He acted like it was government required or something. (Which I doubt) but he went on to say that there is a signal that you can send most phones that will send a GPS location back to the phone even if the phone is off. After he told me that I asked him about powering on the phone itself or powering on a direct (call) connection without the phone even coming on. (I have ready some pretty weird things) he basically was like "look there is no way around anything unless the battery is out of the phone, that's all I'm going to say" And I was all like "ok man". I also work for a phone company. Which is where I heard about Asurions new features. One of them which they claim, can wirelessly turn a phone on if it is off and the battery is not dead and call it for you or located it if you have lost it.
Which is basically why I am here asking these questions.

Your the guy that bought an EVO from a dude that claimed he got it at best buy without checking the ESN. Then you come on the boards and ask how to activate it because it's not working. Then you start a whole new post asking if you can flash an EVO that has been flashed to cricket, back to sprint..... go away dude.
No relevant knowledge to post but i sure as hell want somebody to check into it.
Im expecting a tutorial by the end of this week. Guys get to work!!!!!!!

The phone is not off then. It's asleep. Big difference. Here's a simple test. The night before an important job interview/test at school/whatever, set an alarm. Hold the power button and choose "Power Off" from the menu. Go to sleep. See what happens.

[Q] Bricked my Evo (a REAL brick!)

Okay guys, I need some help from some genius hacker out there! I bricked my Evo... I know what you are thinking... Yes, it is a REAL brick!! the kind where your phone does not respond to anything at all!! It doesn't even charge or connect to the computer, the screen doesnt even come on.
I was updating the radio and it went to the white screen with the green android. When that happens you are supposed to let it sit, its loading or whatever, i rushed in and took the battery out, and that's where i screwed up! I knew i wasn't supposed to do that but at the moment i didn't remember that part!
Some help would be greatly apreciated, if you can fix my problem, I might be able to pay back with some real information about boost+evo!
Thank you

Nevermind.

Unfortunately, you are correct. You now have a REAL brick and there is nothing you can do about it. If it's under warranty, take it to sprint and see what they say.
That is the one way to guarantee making a brick out of an Evo...pulling the battery during a radio flash. Sorry for your luck.
EDIT: We all replied at the same time. Nice.

Haha, I'm going to ask anyway, WHY??? Does it have something to do with your boostmobile comment in the OP? Or for some other reason you don't have Sprint service? Bad ESN? I don't really care, I'm just curious. But yeah, as everyone else has said, you're hosed. You might be able to get $50 on craigslist as a non-working parts phone. Or, call up HTC and see if they'll do a warranty replacement without involving Sprint. No idea if this is even possible, but it's worth a shot. Unless the ESN is bad, then you're probably on your own.

BUT really. not joking about the OTA. just wait a few weeks. Sure HTC will submit an update for sprint to send to us. oh wait, sprint would NEVER let us have that update. haha they would make sure we couldn't root it. Well, search temp root for the evo.

Look man, I usually don't post replies like this but seriously this question if getting annoying. Look at this point there is no ROOT for this OTA that also includes a temp root....its really right in your face and plastered all over this forum. If you just checked Q&A section or even General section you would find it. Or even if you searched this forum itself you would have seen people like yourself post the same exact question.
HTC will be adding magical powers to the next OTA update. :-D
HOWEVER, WHAT WE NEED TO DO IS FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET HTC-signed files. BOOM ROOTED!

If the microwave on trick doesnt work you can always try what I did to get S-Off.
Simply climb a telephone poll and plug your phone directly into the power line. Once you do that you need to flap your arms six times and screem "I'm a pretty birdy" as loud as you can so thst the voice to text on your phone can pick it up. Once you do that unplug your phone and you will have s-off.

Go to radio shack and get cool with the service guys. Have them call u when someone swaps a evo with 2.2 for for evo3d. Then swap your phone with there's. If it means anything to u really to be rooted get a 2.2 evo off Craigslist and then sell your evo back on it. Sprint wont be allowing no more unlocked devices if its up to them. They not stupid, I'm sure the techs troll these type websites. When the next firmware update arrives they gonna do it again. If it means that much take it upon ya self to get a rooted device or 2.2 evo. At this point late in the game you gotta pay to play.

To achieve root with the latest OTA simply shove the EVO in your anal canal. This will confuse the phone and force it to root unrevoked style. Once you relieve yourself of the anal obstruction you will be fully rooted. Try it and see!

Hi all
Just got an Inc 2. why else would I be posting here ,,,, anyhow I gotta have root mainly just to remove bloat, really undecided on which way though, HTC unlock or a full S off through the downgrade revolutionary method, I'm not realy a flashaholic, I would like to be able to use set CPU or the likes, for battery savings and maybe a little overclocking, phone seems pretty responsive if you ask me just coming from an Eris but I haven't loaded any apps on it yet either, heck I haven't even activated it yet (guess it's a little hard to let Ginger go ) I'd post a screen shot of her but she's a little shy.
So what's everyone thoughts on this if you had just recieved a brand new Incredible 2, with 2.3.4 Gingerbread, 5.10.605.9, 2.6.35.9 kernel; and now the news of Official ICS update soon to be released which way would you go to root HTC or S off?
Can you overclock/undervolt stock kernel?
Is it possible to flash a different kernel?
Any and all input on this will be greatly appriciated, Thanks In Advance

You're gonna wanna downgrade and s-off. It's easier to flash ROMs, also you can flash radios that way. It's a slightly longer process to do so, but its worth not spending extra time when flashing ROMs. Mainly because you have to flash the kernel in fastboot if you use HTC unlock.

Thanks for your quick response, thats just it I'm not realy a flashaholic and if I see a rom that I would like to flash, a little extra work wouldn't bother me stability speed and no issues have presedence for me, not worried about look at what I got, just overall balanced goodness

It doesn't. It downgrades the hboot version. Now, if you s-off, you can flash any radio you wish. The recommended one is either the latest .1111 or .0722.

Yes I have the latest.1111 with 2.3.4 Gingerbread, 5.10.605.9, kernel 2.6.35.9, it downgrades more than just the hboot doesn't it? I thought it downgraded the whole OS.
It will put you back to 2.2 or 2.3 I think but it does not affect radio. You van then flaws one of the rooms based off the latest stock update ( what you have) if that's what you want. Also, you can't oc stock kernel, use dresdills 21. Also if u use the HTC method you are guaranteed void warranty cause they know what you done. If you use other method you can revert to completely stock if you need too and they will never know if you need to because of hardware issues. Charging ports have been known to go bad so I would keep that in mind...

Yes I've heard about that kernel, I'm pretty sure that once you root they know it cause all there tracking, or most of there tracking software goes offline for them, and they know that the only reason, for the most part, that the phone dissapeared is root. I thought htc unlock still gave you a warranty although more limitted. And yes I learned from the Eris when the phone is on the charger be extra extra carefull with it, even if it meens don't touch it.
Root doesn't take out anything, and I'm not sure what tracking your referring to anyways. The only way anything would be took out is if you do it, or the rom you install does. If they know you done it, and you think it may be more limited, that's just a way of saying now we have a reason to deny you anytime we feel like it. But if your set on that, do it, not gonna argue its your phone could care less, you wanted opinions you got it, either way good luck...

I never said that root in and of itself took out anything, it's the stuff we take out once we root. Your not sure what tracking I'm referring to, Look up Carrier IQ .
I charged this phone turned it on bypassed activation shut off the networks just to play around with it and it was still reporting network traffic, How, Why?
This phone has the ability to get past the switch thats thrown when you shut off your data connections. I did just activate the phone, I had forgot to turn data back on before doing so, but it didn't matter; after phone booted up and was settling in I saw the 3g icon pop up in the status bar, thats what reminded me, [I thought I shut that off] and sure enough it was still off, yet it still sent data, but where to? I'm not set on anything yet, yes I'm trying to get many opinions and I thank you for your input this phones been out for a while now and many things have changed since it was first released, like ICS, and htc unlock of the hboot. Much of the activity about rooting this phone is a year or more old and with the deals and such that are being thrown around now to move the remaning stock off shelves there will be ( I'm sure ) many newcomers to the phone and this forum so an updated collection of thoughts on this I figured would be welcome especially if there was some input from the veterans of this phone. And again thank you

I know that that's what they had said Officially But I OFFICIALLY have my doubts . Have you ever checked it out with the app?

as a matter of fact yes i have, our stock rom 5.xx is clean
the ports may or may not have it (depending if it was cleaned out or not by individual dev) but since its not running on the phone/carrier it was meant to, it wouldnt properly function
honestly i never really cared that much, i think the ciq drama was blown out of proportion

I'm glad to hear that.
Blown out of proportion? Not really, Think about it you send someone a text messg and CIQ knew what the text said BEFORE your intended recipient even recieved it,....... before you even sent it!

idk, doesnt really affect me...but the Sprint guys were all up in arms about it...mabye if i had a phone that it was an issue on id care more
Anyways, I flashed a custom ROM and CIQ would be gone anyways. I think nowadays we have to realize that we are going to always be tracked in some way.

Really???
I mean i understand that this is a kindof temp fix to get data off device
But. Wtf. You guys in reality all your doing is voiding waranty. Absorbimg moisture from the fridge. Setting off the moisture strips.
Like this is the first time ive heard this one and thats got to be the dumbest idea ive ever heard. And from what i read it dont even work half the time or more. Its boots up for 30 40 seconds. Isnt a fix.
Then as the device heats up in the fridge just makes even more condensation.
WOW. Ive heard it all now

i didnt come out and say it if thats the case corecting me or not u just said i too so u watch yours too
im just making a point that putting a phone in a fridge is a dumb idea and all its doing is tripping the indicators
and voiding any waranty anyone had of getting their g4 fixxed
come on.
this is stupid to be arguing over wtfs and other words
i hold a completly valid point thats its a stupid idea
just because someone says it works and it may have temp worked lets jump a bridge ive read about people claiming lg says their craps been wet and the same people put their crap in a fridge
both of you ive been in this game a long time 100 post apiece for u guys memebers since 2011
so not much input from either of u ove what like 6 years. at least im trying to help people.
risking my device for testing porposes to help the community. says ure on a nexus on tapatalk. do u even own a g4?
im just trying to keep people from making stupid desicions based off others "findings"
Snooping around my profile now lol. Do i own one? Well i bought two back in November 15, so i own two actually, (one of which died a couple of weeks ago), and think that qualifies me to follow this thread, if that's ok with you?
By the way the "c" word is "cussing" also [emoji14]

Yea u kinda got one. Lol. Hate it for you that one of the ure g4s died. Just please dont put it in the fridge before sending it in. Lol.
Well having 2 i guess doe qualify u into the threads.
What's the matter? My G4 suddenly got the bootloop problem, and I had no backup of some data.
I did put it in the freezer and luckily managed to complete a full backup.
It worked and didn't harm my device... send it for repair, got the mobo replaced.
This thread should be deleted, I don't get the point of creating a topic to complain about that, seriously.

its just a point just cause ures made it ok
we all know that moisture can form as the device heats up in a cool place its common science
aside from if it works or not its dangerous and can lead to tripping the moisture indicators
mods please delete my thread here its just causing issues and arguments.
no one sees my point and i see no need to keep this thread alive either
No comment
I left it 30 minutes max in the freezer. It's no problem.
Putting a device in the fridge is not the same as throwing it in water.
I can't imagine LCI being triggered by fresh air. Smh.
