Hi
I have a rare problem, its been three days since I started using my Nexus, since the first night that i left it charging all night the next morning it only charged to 98%, it wont go any higher that that unless i disconnect and connect again the phone, last time i left if for more than 8 hours and its the same it wont go any higher than 98%, again, if i disconnect and reconnect then it will go to 100%
Any ideas why is this happening?
Please let me know
Did you search the forums to find the other people who posted the same thing?

This is by no means a "rare" problem

Ahhhh
Sorry about that!
I usually search for problems before asking, but this time i forgot
Im still not happy with the battery life and so i was thinking it could be a related issue
Great phone when not used, battery sucks, other than that its a great quality product
So, again, sorry for the repost, i guess this is a think i have to live with
One last question, any way to calibrate my battery without rooting my phone?
You can try running it from 100-0 a few days in a row, that would help calibrate it

Hello, i don't see a question and answer forum so i am asking it here. My wife has a t-mobile Samsung galaxy 2 and the phone does not show the correct percentage and she has had the phone shut off because it ran out of power. Only if she charges to full and reboot does it work properly. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. By the way the phone is not rooted.

Uhmm calibrate it. Pull out the battery for 5 seconds pull it back in... Then power it on. Male it to where so the phone shuts off completely then charge it too 100%

Oh and this goes in the general.. The reason why we dont have a Q and A is because the general section needs like 1000 post daily to get it. So thats why. Also and more question go to general for the time beingg

Are you using the original charger and cable? I had the same issue and it started working after I finally pulled them out of the box.
To answer your initial statement, anything that doesn't fall under development would go on the general forum.
That being said, I remember this issue being brought up by lots of members at the beginning. So, a search should give you some answers. I think rooting and trying out one of the great roms currently available here is the best way to go IMO. I personally recommend Juggernaut

i had a problem with the apps not showing the correct battery at first too when it wasn't rooted, but even before i rooted i found this app to work for me and it always displayed the right battery. like it never freezes the battery life while it is actually being drained.

Hello everyone.
So my problem started few days ago. I flashed slim ice v3.9 and done upgrade to v4.0 day after. After that my battery just gone bonkers. First it do not display correctly inside settings>battery. It shows 1m but once you click on the graph it states 55m for example. It drains like crazy and most of the time shows charging.
I thought maybe something is wrong with the from so I flashed liquid and than come back to good old apex.
However the problem stayed through all of the rooms and settings. I have done countless reflashes and wipes but no joy. In all of the cases I have used Franco's kernel as I never had any issues and it was always good.
Any ides? Even now writing this I have charging icon on my battery but I am not charging it :|.

Kirior

Hi, I personally didn't have those problems, but my friend had some similar. Try these tips, they are unrelated to each other, just random ideas:
Wipe battery stats in recovery
Try cleaning battery contacts
Clean USB with soft tooth brush
Check what exactly is eating your battery - it could just be some buggy app
Hi thx for the ideas. First three didn't work so far. I will give them another go later today. What app would you recommend to search for the rouge one? Never had such an issue so no clue which is best.

I use just the stock battery stats. But there may be better options.
Thx guys for the info.
Ill try BBStats later on.
So far i am not having big drain (lately about <1% ~ hour)
It is just that the charging icon is presistant. I have tried wiping and such and is still there. NOt really life threatning but just confusing/annoying.
Any ideas here? And small issue of the stock battery display/stat displaying completly wrong informations.
Regards.
hi again
Scrap the battery is ok now. Last night it draind 8-10% and hour 76% around 10pm and 14% 6:30 am this morning.
Than between 6:30 and 7:30 it drained all 14% while saying charging all the way along.
Shall i revert back to stock and re root?
Regards.

Just replace your USB charging board, and the phone will behave again.
Hi all,
So my phone recently started giving me some battery issues that I just cannot for the life of me get resolved. I noticed that under better battery stats, my phone was avoiding deep sleep. Looking at the kernel wake locks shows Wlan_wake with nearly non stop wakes. I've done just about everything. I've wiped totally to stock Blu Kuban, tried different radios, kernels etc. I get these even on a fresh wipe with no apps installed and no sync on. It doesn't seem to be related to any application in particular. If I turn off wifi and just use 3g,the phone goes into deep sleep immediately and stays. The Wlan_wake stops and the wake counter doesn't keep ramping up. The phone once again gets great battery life while sitting idle. This occurs on both of the wifi I use predominantly, home and work. I'm really at my wits end since when I go to bed, my phones battery gets knocked down a good 20-30% in the 7 hours I go to bed. Attached is just a small sampling of what it's doing.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Stop leaving your WiFi on. Either that or install one of the hundreds of battery scripts available that will shut off WiFi when the phone sleeps.

While I can appreciate people who want to hamstring their phones to save battery life, turning off WiFi is not an option for most people who actually use their phones for grown up things.
Sprint data is horribly unreliable for me... Without WiFi on, I would never be notified of important emails from work, done of which are time sensitive.
It's too bad that ICS has such bad battery life when compared to a similarly configured GB device.

Well a grown up would solve the problem by calling Sprint and having a free mini tower sent to them so they wouldn't have that problem... just sayin

Is there some specific reason you can't charge your phone while you sleep? It seems like that's the most obvious and easiest solution to your complaint...
I'll take a look at that wifi idle time thread, thanks man.
To the rest, when I suddenly have a glaring issue with my phone, I usually don't include "pretend the problem doesn't exist" as a troubleshooting method. If that's what has to be done, so be it. Charging the phone while sleeping is fine, depending on my schedule/battery level, but that doesn't answer the question of why the battery is absolutely horrific when the phone is doing absolutely nothing. It's not syncing, it's not pulling down data from apps etc. I guess I'm just having trouble coming to terms with the fact that Gingerbread idles, with sync on, about 3-5 percent in an 8 hour period (on blazer) while my ics experiences have been literally 10 times worse. It's hard to just say "oh, ICS battery life just isn't as good", when the disparity is that large.
I want to make sure I'm an exception, not the rule as far as idle drain is concerned.

Since I'm included in the "rest" ill say that I was not suggesting that you ignore it, I was simply suggesting that by charging while you sleep you would remedy the issue for the time being, as there is absolutely no logical reason your phone can't be charging while you sleep... including battery level... im assuming from your post you wait till the battery is low to charge, that is unecessary as Li-Ion batteries do not have a memory, so incremental charging will not damage them, in fact ive read that its actually better for them than full power cycles.... if you want more possible solutions perhaps you should start by following revampers link and using the damn search bar, as there are 10's of ics battery threads, and I'm pretty sure phaker posted a solution to a very similar issue in one of them, as opposed to starting yet another thread about an issue that's been beat to death and replying condesendingly to those who offer you suggestions not entirely to you're liking....also use the thanks button at least for revampers post as you seem to have found at least that useful, its considered common courtesy around here...

You weren't included in the rest btw. Forgot to thank v.
The first response was snide to both myself and the other person who replied about slashing off your phones arm when it isn't necessary. I have spent quite a bit of time on this problem, and have done substantial searching with my info I've collected from various apps and logs. Snide non replies get snide responses. It was not aimed at you.

This may help as well, worth a read at least... the script that just modifies wifi_supp_scan or something to that effect.... should be what you're after as I recall that was preventing deep sleep, read through the thread to confirm, I read it about a week ago and dont recall 100%

Hi Guys,
I have spent days researching this, and have read dozens of forum posts, but nothing has worked. Here's the problem- I bought a used GNEX off of Craigslist. The phone looks great and seems to work well. But, it won't show a charge beyond about 70%.
I thought the battery might be the issue, so i bought an a new OEM extended battery, but the new battery didn't make any difference. It still won't show a charge above 70% no matter how long I leave it on the charger (with the phone turned on or off). I have done probably 20 discharge/recharge cycles, but nothing changes.
Next, I bought an external charger. When I fully charge the battery in the external charger and pop it in the phone, it still shows around 70%. So, it is definitely an issue with the phone (not the batteries).
I've also tried four different ROMs, as well as all the black-magic "battery calibration" tricks found in the forums, but nothing helps.
I am totally stumped! Is there anyway I can fix this?
Thanks!
Slim
Please HELP! More info.
Hi guys,
Just an update. Yesterday I tried three different kernels, just in case that might make a difference. No luck. The kernels didn't make a difference.
Any advice on how I can make this phone handle battery levels correctly? It's been on the charger all night and only shows 66% charge.

Hey, Reza. How long has your GNEX been having this problem?
You might try returning to stock to see if eliminating custom ROMs helps.

Thanks. I actually already tried that. Took it back to completely stock, unrooted. No dice. The issue was still there. I am stumped!. I hope it's not a hardware issue.

I have this phone about six months, but couple days age after I tried to install cm10.1 carch up with this problem.
Changing custom rom,returning to stock,callibrating , every thing I tried didn't work.
Firs it stops about 98,then after a recharge it stops @ 95 ,then 90 and now it does'nt exceed 87.

Definitely a hardware issue.

try an app named "BatteryCalibration" by marosige. When opened it shows the in circuit battery voltage. 3600-3700mV is to be expected from a well charged and in good shape battery. We seam to be having the same issues with mine having progressed to showing 0%. I have a recent thread here as well. I have read that the recovery battery stat wipe is just for the application level, but I think there must be a file or setting somewhere that maps mV to %'s and that this is what needs wiped/reset.
Anyone overhere still having issues?
I updated my thread on a similar if not the same problem, and am looking for some volunteers to help gather a little data. I would like for one or more persons to install SL4A and python, run a script and report findings. If you are willing please post a reply in my thread.
Thank you
I've been running Darth star x2 for 2 weeks and all of the sudden about 3 days ago my phone stopped charging. It won't charge past 47%, I was wondering if anybody could help me with this issue? I'm thinking new battery but I don't want to do that until I get some feed back. I checked the battery and its not fat or hot and I turned it off last night and charged it and I checked it this morning and it said 100% but when I turned it on it was only reading 47%. Any help would be great.
Thanks,

Try one of the many battery calibration methods and/or deleting batterystats.bin.
Also try asking a moderator to move your thread to the correct section and from now on read a little before you make a thread in the wrong section.
You're not going to get much help when you post questions in the general section, and it's really not a hard concept to grasp. If you have a question post it in the section that clearly says multiple times that it's for questions, not the one that clearly says multiple times that it's specifically NOT for questions.
