Battery percentage - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hello, i don't see a question and answer forum so i am asking it here. My wife has a t-mobile Samsung galaxy 2 and the phone does not show the correct percentage and she has had the phone shut off because it ran out of power. Only if she charges to full and reboot does it work properly. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. By the way the phone is not rooted.

Uhmm calibrate it. Pull out the battery for 5 seconds pull it back in... Then power it on. Male it to where so the phone shuts off completely then charge it too 100%

Oh and this goes in the general.. The reason why we dont have a Q and A is because the general section needs like 1000 post daily to get it. So thats why. Also and more question go to general for the time beingg

Are you using the original charger and cable? I had the same issue and it started working after I finally pulled them out of the box.

To answer your initial statement, anything that doesn't fall under development would go on the general forum.
That being said, I remember this issue being brought up by lots of members at the beginning. So, a search should give you some answers. I think rooting and trying out one of the great roms currently available here is the best way to go IMO. I personally recommend Juggernaut

i had a problem with the apps not showing the correct battery at first too when it wasn't rooted, but even before i rooted i found this app to work for me and it always displayed the right battery. like it never freezes the battery life while it is actually being drained.

Quick question after permrooting with visionary

Hey everyone! I'm new here in a way with this being my first post but have been on xda for months lurking the forums and absorbing information having to do with samsung vibrant to now the g2. Before i ask my question I must say this website is the best website i have EVER got any sort of information about phones and everything and anything you can possibly do with them! And want to say thank you to EVERYONE who makes it possibly! Now for the question and some sort of problem. I permrooted my g2 last night and everything to my knowledge has gone well. I also even turned S-Off and now i can boot into recovery no problem. The only problem I seem to have and can't find the solution through google or on the forums is that when I have my phone completely powered down and put it on the charger after it's powered down the phone will just automatically boot into recovery without me even doing it. It says "go back to end debugging" when I go to check the key test and I really don't understand what and where it's talking about debugging when I just have my phone plugged into a outlet. If anyone has this problem or maybe has solved this with some sort of solution your insight would be greatly appreciated.

It is a known issue of ClockWork Recovery. Nothing we can do now, until/IF Koush-the author of CW OR anyone knowledgeable enough to sort it out.

on the dot.
its specifically within cwm, even other phones are experiencing the same issues with cwm
So no possible fix or something like that to keep it from happening? I mean I usually shut my phone at night just to give it a rest and to charge but now I can't because of recovery. Does everyone who permroots their phone experience this or only some?

No possible fix I've seen as of yet. I'm sure many people do witness this happening, but I personally never turn my phone off at night just to charge it. I hear its not good for batteries to over charge them again and again. I usually charge mine in morning and throughout the day and leave it be over night.

There's no such thing as over charging Lithium Ion battery lol. You can plug it in 24/7 and be safe. It is a myth.
Read this: http://batteryuniversity.com/index.php/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries
It is impossible to overcharge Lithium Ion Battery.
Well I guess I'll just have to wait and deal with it until a fix hopefully comes out for it. And ya I never heard of overcharging lithium ion batteries...but idk. Now while waiting for a fix for that little bug i'd like a flashable overclock

Meh. I've had a bunch of people tell me they had to buy new batteries from leaving their phone charging all night and a few reps have told me not to do it. I think specifically that was when I had my BlackBerry. That's only reason I thought that. =P Either way, thanks for the info. Learning is great. =]
Well i can tell you i had an adp1 and my wife had a g1 she would charge throughout the day and i only charged at night. While we both had to get new bats because of swelling hers died a lot faster then mine. So i say charge when its dead at night is better but thats just mho.

I agree. Night time charging to me seems to be the best amd I've never had a problem with a battery from doing that. Even if the phone wasn't completely dead. Seems to be ok with me lol

[Q] Battery Full al 98%

Hi
I have a rare problem, its been three days since I started using my Nexus, since the first night that i left it charging all night the next morning it only charged to 98%, it wont go any higher that that unless i disconnect and connect again the phone, last time i left if for more than 8 hours and its the same it wont go any higher than 98%, again, if i disconnect and reconnect then it will go to 100%
Any ideas why is this happening?
Please let me know
Did you search the forums to find the other people who posted the same thing?

This is by no means a "rare" problem

Ahhhh
Sorry about that!
I usually search for problems before asking, but this time i forgot
Im still not happy with the battery life and so i was thinking it could be a related issue
Great phone when not used, battery sucks, other than that its a great quality product
So, again, sorry for the repost, i guess this is a think i have to live with
One last question, any way to calibrate my battery without rooting my phone?
You can try running it from 100-0 a few days in a row, that would help calibrate it

[Q] Strange behavior while charging

My issue does not seem to be specific to any one rom, I have flashed nearly all of them. When I try to use my phone while it is charging, the touch screen is slow to respond or extremely laggy. I use the stock USB cable and AC adapter.
Does anyone else experience this?

I did try to do a search, but the search field disappears when I try to use it on my tablet. Ever time the android keyboard comes up, the search field goes away. Could you kindly direct me to the correct post.
I finally was able to search the threads when I switched to my phone.(it had charged enough to unplug out and use) From what I gather, it is a result of a built in feature on this Samsung phone used to eliminate "ghost touches"
This doesn't help the fact that it is annoying and counterproductive when I am trying to read xda posts while at work.

people can be meanies on here. xda search isn't the greatest thing. But it could be that the charger is faulty. Probably need a new one. T-mobile could supply you one through warranty for free. Try to ask for the cable and battery too while you're at it. they're all covered.

Thanks, I'll give TMO a call. Worst case scenario is that I'll get a new charger. I agree about people bring pricks on here, I see it every day in the dev section. I just thought I could post in Q A without getting grief.

It's not super clear what the issue is. Some people say that the issue goes away when not using the stock Samsung charger, some say the issue is a grounding issue. I personally have experienced this issue in the lock screen and it'll take like 5 tries to unlock but outside of the lock screen I don't have issues with general usage. Rest assured it's not a faulty phone, or even a faulty charger.

Battery issue

Hello everyone.
So my problem started few days ago. I flashed slim ice v3.9 and done upgrade to v4.0 day after. After that my battery just gone bonkers. First it do not display correctly inside settings>battery. It shows 1m but once you click on the graph it states 55m for example. It drains like crazy and most of the time shows charging.
I thought maybe something is wrong with the from so I flashed liquid and than come back to good old apex.
However the problem stayed through all of the rooms and settings. I have done countless reflashes and wipes but no joy. In all of the cases I have used Franco's kernel as I never had any issues and it was always good.
Any ides? Even now writing this I have charging icon on my battery but I am not charging it :|.
Regards
Kirior

Hi, I personally didn't have those problems, but my friend had some similar. Try these tips, they are unrelated to each other, just random ideas:
Wipe battery stats in recovery
Try cleaning battery contacts
Clean USB with soft tooth brush
Check what exactly is eating your battery - it could just be some buggy app
Hi thx for the ideas. First three didn't work so far. I will give them another go later today. What app would you recommend to search for the rouge one? Never had such an issue so no clue which is best.

I use just the stock battery stats. But there may be better options.
Thx guys for the info.
Ill try BBStats later on.
So far i am not having big drain (lately about <1% ~ hour)
It is just that the charging icon is presistant. I have tried wiping and such and is still there. NOt really life threatning but just confusing/annoying.
Any ideas here? And small issue of the stock battery display/stat displaying completly wrong informations.
Regards.
hi again
Scrap the battery is ok now. Last night it draind 8-10% and hour 76% around 10pm and 14% 6:30 am this morning.
Than between 6:30 and 7:30 it drained all 14% while saying charging all the way along.
Shall i revert back to stock and re root?
Regards.

Just replace your USB charging board, and the phone will behave again.

Battery stats RESET at every reboot!!!!!?????

Battery stats RESET at every reboot. Is it just me or is this a JB/Samsung related bug? To me this is NOT normal and it definitely didn't happen in ICS or GB
------------------------------------------------------------------------
:good: Updated Tue, Nov.20.2012
As strange as it may sound, after about 3-4 cycles, the funny issue reported above is gone. Now my SGH-I317M behaves like it's supposed to and so, the battery stats are being kept after reboot. Like all the other Samsung phones I have/had, the battery stats are being reset after the phone has been kept plugged in for a while - which is normal. I took some time to report this just to make sure that it's consistent.
Yeah, I find that annoying too. I wish it kept it's settings. I was hoping to get an accurate look at my daily usage today, but an early reboot is going to destroy that.

Still...I wonder, is this a bug or is it Samsung's/Google's new vision about how battery stats are supposed to be working? If it's a bug they'll probably fix it but if the bug is in someone's head, then we're kind of screwed - from this point onward (JB, KLP, etc)
iirc all stock phones ive had do that. Atrix and the OG note. The note didnt do that once modded tho.

Not quite sure what you mean by "stock phone" but I have the SG2 (SGH-I727R) with ICS 4.0.4, rooted and SG3 (SGH-I747M) with ICS 4.0.4, rooted and DEFINITELY none of them do that. The Note II (SGH-I317M) is certainly my first Android phone to do that - after all, think about it! Is your battery starting a new cycle after every reboot? Plus, the phone might not even get close to a plug. Why reset the stats?

Stock implies just that...STOCK. no root, stock. Dont know what to tell you but both mine did this quirk. Was annoying as hell.
I agree. Resetting is stupid and it would always happen towards the end of the day...before I could see my battery stats lol

I used "Device Analyzer" in the past to see a weeks worth of battery stats in one view. But it only gives you charge levels, not app usage.
My One X resets if I charge it above ~70%. Every android ROM and phone I have had in the past only reset at a full charge. And I haven't seen one yet that resets at a reboot. Sounds like a bug. Fingers crossed for fixing when they push the side by side app view update.
To make sure, we are talking about this data, right?
