If you are using a 4.0.3 you may have noticed that there is a wrong string in the menu.
Instead of "Find on page" there is something like "Activate carmode". I investigated on this problem, and I found out that for whatever reason the framework is returning the wrong string.
I fixed the problem using internal resources.
Download fixed Browser: download

How to use it:
Download the apk
Plug your nexus to your pc
Delete Browser.apk or BrowserGoogle.apk from /system/app/
Push Browser.apk to /system/app/ and reboot
Enjoy
If you want to do the step 3 and 4 with adb:
Code:
adb shell stop; adb remount; adb shell rm /system/app/Browser*; adb push Browser.apk /system/app/; adb shell start

Doesn't work. When I copy it to /system/app/ it doesn't show up, even after a reboot and when I try to install it as a regular .apk, an error message pops up.
Sorry to hear that. I've only tested it on XXJVK, so that's perhaps why it's working well for me.

Hi,tks for this apk.
It's only in Chinese language?
It depends on your system language setting. When you have English (try it) it is in English. On non-English system shows Chinese chars only :-(
But fortunately there is English-Only version somewhere in XDA. Maybe not the last version, but usable.
Hi all!
I just added many languages to manta Ray rom (with update 2.0.1), but i left my xoom at home, so i cant test atm. If you want to try, please download, flash via recovery, and leave your feedback here!

I guess, the systemui.apk from lowtraxx (the one with the H icon) is still not translated. So, you will loose german translation on some parts of the OS.
We have to wait for lowtraxx to update his systemui.apk.

Tried to do it by myself, but after building the new APK the META-INF-folder is missing and the file won't be installed after pushing it.

unzip the Browser.apk from the original Tiamat-2.0-ROM and push it with adb to your devices:
adb remount
adb push Browser.apk /system/app/Browser.apk

Browser still not working, when you want to go to favourites. :-(
This Swype is that comes with stock ROMS, This has been extracted from VillainROM 3 for SGS2, this flashable ZIP have the necesary files that Swype can work with any ROM, this also modify four props from build.prop file.
Flash this at your own responsability, and if you do it please report back.
If you have problems to boot after flash, you can restore your original build.prop with adb, if you don't know what is this, maybe you have to reconsider to flash it
NOTE: Disable signature verification before flash.

You need to delete Swype.apk from /system/app folder and move /system/build.prop.swype file to /system/build.prop
You can do it with ADB or Root Explorer.

This version is better for some languages other than English.
For example, the new version of Swype includes all letters from the Turkish alphabet (an additional 6 letters cramped on a small screen!), whereas this version simply uses the English QWERTY layout and predicts what I'm typing in Turkish. Therefore, this version is a lot more error-free and efficient when I'm typing in Turkish.

Hi
First of all, really nice job! Just like you and other guys around I do fancy the older version of swype.
I was wondering, though, if this stock swype was able to be ported only because of the original files extracted from VR3. Could it be possible to get, for instance, the swype version found in ICS XWLP2 to work with CM9 as well? Could you point out something like the procedure you followed for doing so? (or do it for us )
Thanks in advance
Good joob, its works on my d4rom cm9. Can you add please romanian language?
does this have pt-pt language?
I have a method to install the aosp browser without any root privileges at all and no modifications of the system partition. Just involves installing 2 or 3 apks (depending if you want bookmark syncing). This should work on any of the other nexus devices that came without stock browser. This is also an improvement over the root method as it does not break OTA updates even on rooted devices.
Please don't repost this yet. I want to add in the other languages to browser.apk for the "find on page" button in the menu. I fixed English. The stock nexus roms don't have the string in framework-res for this one button.
Download zip (this is not a cwm package/just extract it or open the files from inside)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/sp3778itcps5iq1/aospbrowser-noroot-blackhand1001.zip
Steps:
1. Use es file manager to browse to system/app and install browserproviderproxy (it will say app not installed, don't worry it worked)
2. Reboot (it will not work without rebooting first)
3. Install Browser4.3_blackhand1001.apk
4. Install ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter_blackhand1001.apk (this will give you bookmark syncing)

Thanks for this. Works very well on my devices.
Updated it so the autocomplete dropdown no longer has the blue line glitch. The style definition for the dropdown is missing on the stock nexus 7 rom so I copied it and put it in the browser itself and pointed to it there.
Added User agent selection in advanced preferences.
Full screen option in labs.
when u say install browserproviderproxy in system/app, do you mean install the one found in the nexus7 directory, or the one in your zip file?
