Is there gsm galaxy nexus made in china. I live in Canada and all the galaxy nexus here are made in Korea and never heard any galaxy nexus online thats made in china. I think I'm the only one that has this made in China nexus that's why I'm trying to find more info.
My GSM Nexus ordered from Negri originated from the UK and was made in Korea. I've been noticing some made in China models showing up lately though. Perhaps it's just for Canada?
Nope, all the galaxy nexus here in canada I've seen are made in Korea.
I bought this phone off a guy who said he won it from samsung. Could this be a new batch?

I believe that the SGS2 was made in Korea, China and Vietnam. Perhaps the GNex is being made in the same places? Vietnam seemed like the 3rd place production was sent to with Korea and then China being the first two.
I've bought mine from Clove, UK and it is made in Korea.

Could you prove this? My first galaxy nexus was a Korea one bought at major retailer and I could not tell the difference in the build or performance. The Korea one I had the glass didn't even sit flush on one of the corner. If this was a fake, they wouldn't be stupid enough to put big made in China sticker on the box when every other Nexus is made in Korea. Actually the Korea one they don’t even put any sign of where it’s made on the outer box.
screen shot of the phone build info. Also could someone confirm me that the 11.12 after the S/N = december 2011
I bought mine in Europe from a major online retailer and it's made in China. It has all the original Samsung documents and warranty, obviously.

i received 2 galaxy nexus from bell on launch date: both made in korea.
i used one for a few weeks, and it had the airplane mode problem; it would go into airplane mode by itself but the settings etc won't recognize its on. when i toggle the mode, it won't turn off. only way was a power off...
i returned the unit for a new one today.
the new one is made in china. i put my 2nd korean brand new unit side by side with my new made in china unit.... i cannot believe the difference in colour quality!!! the CHINA phone has beautiful deep blacks and colours where the korean unit has faded yellowish/grey blacks....! i thought it would be the other way around!
also, for the glass: the korean unit didn't seem as flush as the chinese unit .
i hope the china unit will not have the airplane mode problems.
also, on the back of the phone after the serial numbers there is a 11.11 for the korea unit and a 11.12 for the china unit.
anyone know what this means?

Not necessary, even the sgs2 had models made in korea, made in china and some says just made by Samsung.
My nexus says just made by Samsung.
So to the op nothing to worry as long as you bought it from proper source.

Not sure if serious
anyways OP I bought mine from bell a week after launch.
Made in China.
If bell is selling fake units then we have a serious issue.
Manufacturers often produce a first batch at their home production plants as a first run to work out kinks and errors in the manufacturing process. Following this first "trial batch" they then move onto larger scaled mass production facilities to facilitate the worldwide demand, and of course take advantage of cheaper labour.
The company who does this the most - SONY.
Example, the first little batch of PSPs were made in Japan. every single component was Made in Japan by Sony themselves. Fast forward a couple of weeks and parts started getting sourced out to Chinese firms, which eventually meant the entire device was manufactured in China.
The same goes for PS3s, PS2s, TVs, Sony Ericsson phones, Sony AV equipment, all the lot.
I bought my GN today and its made in China too...
good or bad?
idk...
PS: its from Bell Eaton Center
My Bell GN is also made in China.

Got mine launch day - made in Korea. Like terencec said - buy from a reputable site and don't worry.
I just compared the korea vs china made nexus today. The china nexus screen looks a bit better. The blacks it a bit deeper with the china made one.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything. Even screens made one after another in the same production line held up next to each other can look different.
Why bother. It is the same.

It is. I ordered mine from them but called first, and they said they specifically order ones that are supposed to be yakju. I've heard of a couple of people getting non-yakju versions, but expansys seems pretty anal about this not happening.
They're great to work, very happy with my purchase experience
Thx for the answers, i gonna order one for $609, i guess when the gsm version get to the USA it wont be less than 529 ( nexus s cost) so, i can take $80 dollars loss but i wont be waiting anymore

$450, BNIB from Craigslist
You'd be fortunate to find it for under $600. If you do, jump on it. It will be expensive for a long time, or at least until a GSM carrier offers if on contract in the US. Then it will fall.

Your point? I purchased the one that is for $622 and it came as yakjuxw and not 'yakju.' None of this matters, it can be changed in <5 minutes.
Just silly how they offer both versions with one of them being the higher price.

Of course it doesn't matter. I bought the canadian and flashed it to yakju in 5 minutes too...
I'm saying this is why theyre differentiating between the two. Their indication is the more expensive one has a higher chance to be yakju (theyre sourcing them from the UK often, but Latin America recently). The Canadian one has a * in the description saying its on 4.0.1 and not updated by Google (or something to that effect).
The real reason why they're selling them a tad cheaper is probably because the CAN versions come with a US-standard charger and they don't have to include one (they have to open and replace chargers in the other ones). And they probably got a big batch buy and got to offer a lower price because of it.
POINT BEING that people should just buy the cheaper CAN version if they are available.

And if the person gets the more expensive one and it ends up not being 'yakju' what happens there? because what you just said is that it has a higher chance of being 'yakju' but mines came as 'yakjuxw.'
Honestly, if someone was to buy the Galaxy Nexus from Negri it'd be a no brainer to get the $595 one. Negri should just get rid of the $622 one and have them both at the same price. Makes no sense, logically speaking.

Yes it clearly doesn't matter. They're not making a guarantee, but rather a disclosure on the CAN version that they know it won't be yakju.

I doubt majority of users will even know the difference of 'yakju' and non-yakju variants. But back to the topic because that's a silly argument
Get it from Negri they will honor a one-year warranty on your device whereas other places may not. I know Expansys honors warranties. These warranties are done through the place you bought it from and not Samsung.
Samsung will not honor warranties from grey-marketed sales.

well the title of the item says: "UNLOCKED Samsung I9250 Galaxy Nexus 16GB (Black)" So I'm assuming there's no color choice. They're just re-using the stock photo from previous sales that had white/black options available.

I had the Galaxy Nexus on VZN on launch day. It was made in Korea. About a month ago I had returned it due to unforeseen water damage and it was stuck in bootloop. Under the warranty and Best Buy insurance, they sent it back and 3 days later I received a refurb Nexus made in China. Now is there a difference between the two? aside from one being a refurb?
[Stock on both phones.]
I heard that the Made in China ones are built better than the Made in Korea ones.

Nexus Q is not a phone.
Nexus S is ancient.
Your only current phone option is the Galaxy Nexus.

It's really up to you. Rumours are around that the Nexus phone is getting a revamp soon (within the month) however it may or may not be priced at the $350 mark. If I were you, I'd just wait it out a bit and see.

I would rather wait a few weeks for a new Nexus.
I just grabbed a gnex last week. For 349.00 it was a good deal IMO. The hardware is still relevant and pretty snappy.
Not to say I wouldn't grab the next iteration if it was priced right although I believe it will probably be somewhere in the 600 range. Wasn't that the price of the unlocked Google gnex last year?

$349 when it reached U.S. markets. When it was outside U.S. markets it was ~$700 - $649 before it had to be imported internationally.
VZW users got it for $199 on two-years with ~$529ish off contract but is incompatible with GSM networks
Galaxy Nexus will still be relevant after the next Nexus device comes out. The Nexus S is still relevant, it has good developer support.
wait for the new nexus device made by LG, it will be released within a month or two.
If not, the current nexus (Galaxy nexus) is sufficient.
i would probably wait another month or so if/when the new Nexus comes out. If you don't like it, the Galaxy Nexus will be even cheaper at that time.

Rumored that other manufacturers will release their version of a Nexus as well so there won't be just one Nexus device this year but multiple.
Agreed with what MarkGbe says. Galaxy Nexus will go down in price, Nexus S will go even lower (or be discontinued)

Why do you want a U.S. retailer when you are located in India? Not many big known 'retailers' sell GSM Galaxy Nexuses in stores. Maybe the local random shops. They are normally distributed online, but in that case why don't you order it from someone near you or in Europe? Less shipping costs.
Please do some research beforehand as you haven't done much researched before posting this thread thinking that Nexus Q was a phone. We're just here to answer your question but you need to do at least put effort into answering them on your own. If you find it confusing or whatever, then ask. And if any of us helped you out please press the thanks button.
Who knows maybe the current nexus will actually be taken off the market due to the Samsung vs Apple case that keeps going on. Apple has filed a case against the current nexus and the SG3 I believe...& i don't think they will give the new phone a $350 value they will def start it off around $700 get sales and gradually drop it down till the $350 mark as they did with the current..
I don't think it will come out till December anyway (just in time for the holidays) so if you can't wait till then I suggest you just buy this...
Sell your current phone + when the new nexus comes out you can sell this GNex for atleast a $100-$200 which is not bad at all. The previous nex still goes for $100 which is amazing.

OP lives in India not in America. That case will take ages to settle, by the time it finalizes. The next Nexus device will be out done by HTC, LG, Samsung, Motorola and it'll become irrelevant.
It was $700 because it was imported from Europe and had a monopoly, Off-contract in Europe and places were never $700ish. Prices started to stabilize and go for ~$529ish on Newegg at that point and then Google revived the store and sold the GN for $350. Rumored was that LG Nexus is starting out at 8GB, so you're wrong that there won't be a "value" Nexus device.
The difference this time around will be that Google will sell it through their Play Store stabilizing prices from day one. Google wants people to have their Nexus devices, not to make a extreme profit -- hence, $99 Nexus tablet? $199-$249 Nexus 7 tablet with $25 play store credit? they're not that greedy.
& I stand corrected...
but I still do not believe that they will release a 8gb device...If anything that will be a media player? not a phone as Samsung has been doing lately...
You make me feel like I made a bad decision now lol I am suppose to get my nexus in the mail today
I live in India too. You can't use Sprint or Verizon. If you want to buy it, you'll have to buy the unlocked GSM variant from he Google play website. Although this won't be available from India. If you have a friend in the US, ask him to order it for you. That's what I did, and I'm loving it
